Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney  ...    Psalm 36   1  The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.   2 For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful.   3 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good.   4 He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil.   5 THY mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and THY faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.   6 THY righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast.   7 How excellent is THY lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of THY wings.   8 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of THY house; and THOU shalt make them drink of the river of THY pleasures.   9 For with THEE is the fountain of life: in THY light shall we see light.   10 O continue THY lovingkindness unto them that know THEE; and THY righteousness to the upright in heart.   11 Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.   12 There are the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast down, and shall not be able to rise.   ***   Psalm 37   1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.   2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.   3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily THOU shalt be fed.   4 Delight thyself also in the LORD (The Word); and HE shall give thee the desires of thine heart.   5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in HIM; and HE shall bring it to pass.   6 And HE shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.   7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for HIM: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.   8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.   9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.   10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.   11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.   12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.   13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.   14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.   15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.   16 A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.   17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.   18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.   19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.   20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.   21 The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.   22 For such as be blessed of HIM shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of HIM shall be cut off.   23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in HIS way.   24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with HIS hand.   25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.   26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.   27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.   28 For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not HIS saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.   29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.   30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.   31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.   32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.   33 The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.   34 Wait on the LORD, and keep HIS way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.   35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.  36 Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.   37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.   38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.   39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: HE is their strength in the time of trouble.   40 And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: HE shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in HIM.   ***   Psalm 38    1  O LORD, rebuke me not in THY wrath: neither chasten me in THY hot displeasure.   2 For THINE arrows stick fast in me, and THY hand presseth me sore.   3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of THINE anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.   4 For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.   5 My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.   6 I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.   7 For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh.   8 I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.   9 Lord, all my desire is before THEE; and my groaning is not hid from THEE.   10 My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.   11 My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off.   12 They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.   13 But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.   14 Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.   15 For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: THOU wilt hear, O Lord my God.   16 For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.   17 For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me.   18 For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.   19 But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.   20 They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is.   21 Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me.   22 Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.   ***   Psalm 39    1 I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.   2 I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred.   3 My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue,   4 LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am.   5 Behold, THOU hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity.   6 Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.   7 And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in THEE.   8 Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.   9 I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because THOU didst it.   10 Remove THY stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of THINE hand.   11 When THOU with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, THOU makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity.   12 Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not THY peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.   13 O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.   ***   Psalm 40   1  I waited patiently for the LORD; and HE inclined unto me, and heard my cry.   2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.   3 And HE hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.   4 Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.   5 Many, O LORD my God, are THY wonderful works which THOU hast done, and THY thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto THEE: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.   6 Sacrifice and offering THOU didst not desire; mine ears hast THOU opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast THOU not required.   7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,   8 I delight to do THY will, O my God: yea, THY law is within my heart.   9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, THOU knowest.   10 I have not hid THY righteousness within my heart; I have declared THY faithfulness and THY salvation: I have not concealed THY lovingkindness and THY truth from the great congregation.   11 Withhold not THOU THY tender mercies from me, O LORD: let THY lovingkindness and THY truth continually preserve me.   12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.   13 Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.   14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.   15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.   16 Let all those that seek THEE rejoice and be glad in THEE: let such as love THY salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.   17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: THOU art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

Passage: 1 Transgression speaks to the wicked  deep in his heart;  there is no fear of God  before his eyes. 2 For he flatters himself in his own eyes  that his iniquity cannot be found out and hated. 3 The words of his mouth are trouble and deceit;  he has ceased to act wisely and do good. 4 He plots trouble while on his bed;  he sets himself in a way that is not good;  he does not reject evil. (Psalm 36:1–4) Song: Psalm 36 by Poor Bishop Hooper Lyrics: A burden is burning concerning The wicked at heart A burden is burning concerning The wicked at heart There is no fear of God before his eyes He flatters himself too much to realize And have hate for his sin All of the words pouring from his mouth Long to be wrong, wrought with wickedness Even in sleep he dreams deceit Evil his plot and his plan He does not reject sin But Your love But Your love But Your love (Reaches to the heavens) But Your love (Righteous like the mountain) But Your love (Justice like the great deep) But Your love (Priceless is Your love, priceless is Your love) Priceless is Your love Priceless is Your love Priceless is Your love Prayer: O merciful God, fill our hearts, we pray, with the graces of your Holy Spirit, with love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. Teach us to love those who hate us, to pray for those who despitefully use us, that we may be the children of our Father, who makes his sun to shine on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. In adversity, grant us grace to be patient; in prosperity keep us humble; may we guard the door of our lips; may we lightly esteem the world and set our affections on things above. Amen. —William Laud

He breaks down the psalm's three section structure as well as discuss the ways that the poem concludes rather oddly. When we last left Israel, they had just prostituted themselves with the women of Moab as an act of Baal worship. The Lord sent a plague among them that was only stopped when Phinehas impaled a fornicating couple through with his spear. In the wake of this tragic display of unfaithfulness, the Lord tells Moses that he will soon die because he didn't obey the Lord's command at the water of Meribah. Later, the Lord prepares Moses for his death, giving directions on how Moses would pass the mantle of leadership on to Joshua, son of Nun. But first, we begin with a census that will establish how the Israelites are to divide the land once they cross the Jordan.Numbers 26 – 1:13 . Numbers 27 – 10:23 . Numbers 28 – 14:01 . Numbers 29 – 19:10 . Psalm 36 – 25:04 .  :::Christian Standard Bible translation. All music written and produced by John Burgess Ross.Co-produced by Bobby Brown, Katelyn Pridgen, Eric Williamson & the Christian Standard Biblefacebook.com/commuterbibleinstagram.com/commuter_bibletwitter.com/CommuterPodpatreon.com/commuterbibleadmin@commuterbible.org

In our last episode, Israel had turned away from the Lord while Moses was with the Lord on Mount Sinai. Even though they had just committed themselves to following the Lord God, they quickly lost their resolve and turned to Aaron, who in turn gave them a golden calf to worship. After this grave sin, God tells Moses He will no longer go with Israel to the land He had promised Abraham and his descendants after him. Today, Moses intercedes on their behalf, assuaging God's anger and garnering his favor. Later, God's appointed craftsmen are called out to begin assembling the tabernacle according to the Lord's instructions.Exodus 33 - 1:00 . Exodus 34 - 6:39 . Exodus 35 - 14:31 . Psalm 36 - 19:55 .  :::Christian Standard Bible translation. All music written and produced by John Burgess Ross.Co-produced by the Christian Standard Bible.facebook.com/commuterbibleinstagram.com/commuter_bibletwitter.com/CommuterPodpatreon.com/commuterbibleadmin@commuterbible.org

Psalm 36 contrasts the wickedness of humanity with the unshakable goodness of God. Pastor Fredo explores the dangers of pride and sin, which separate us from God, but also highlights the overwhelming nature of God's love and faithfulness. This Psalm serves as a stark reminder of the depravity of the human heart, but also the boundless grace of God.Pastor Fredo also delves into the security that comes from knowing God's love is endless and that He will protect those who trust in Him. It's an invitation to rest in the mercy and righteousness of God, which surpasses all evil.--Support content like this and the vision of Sandals Church at http://sandalschurch.com/support/Join our email list for content updates: http://sandalschurch.com/subscribeDownload the Sandals Church App: http://sandalschurch.com/app/If you have questions, need prayer or want to get connected, please email us anytime at online@sandalschurch.com!

Thoughts on the readings for January 19th (Genesis 32, 33; Psalm 36; Matthew 21). Jacob in Genesis 32 journeyed to Bethel. As he did so he noticed that journeying alongside Jacob's was a troop of angels. Jacob named the place Mahanaim (meaning “two companies”). It was a reassurance to Jacob that the God of Bethel was always with him, as He promised in Genesis 28. Jacob next hears the disturbing news that Esau, with 400 armed men, is coming to meet him. Jacob becomes gripped with fear as his mind went back to the hostility with which they had parted. Jacob makes plans for his family's protection and an attempt to placate his brother, Esau, with great material gifts. After doing all he could Jacob stayed behind to humbly beseech help from his God. And in response the God (El – strength) of Bethel sends his angel who wrestled all night with Jacob. The Almighty withheld the angel's might, so that neither Jacob nor the angel were able to prevail. At some stage of the contest Jacob realised that he was contending with an angel. At this point Jacob refused to release the angel until he was granted a blessing. The angel changed Jacob's name to Israel (“a prince with God”) and smote the hollow of Jacob's thigh, leaving him with a permanent limp; and a reminder that in order to prevail (with God and men) he must always trust that the LORD can do, when we cannot. At sunrise the angel let Jacob go. It was too late for Jacob to catch up with his family; whose fate was in the hand of the Almighty. Hosea tells us that it was here in Bethel that Jacob found God at last; and is so able to teach us. Slowly read aloud Hosea 12 verse 2-6 and pause and ponder. Note also that when Israel brought their tithes and first fruits to the priest they were to say aloud the words of Deuteronomy 26 verse 5. In chapter 33 the twin brothers meet. Jacob found that the expected hostility was not there. Jacob's Sovereign had preserved him and fulfilled the promise of chapter 28. Jacob tried to give his gifts to Esau, who didn't want them. Esau asks Jacob to come with him to Petra. Jacob insists that his brother go ahead and they will follow at a slower pace. Jacob never made that journey but went to Succoth (meaning “booths”). They constructed booths and dwelt there. Jacob then came to Shechem, where he purchased the land that his grandfather Abraham had purchased long ago. Jacob built an altar in thanksgiving to his Sovereign; and named that altar – God the God of Israel. Psalm 36 is from the pen of David. The choirmaster is told to celebrate the steadfast loving kindness of Yahweh. Verse 1 tells us why the wicked act the way that they do – “there is no fear of God before their eyes” (cp Romans 3 verse18, which is the 7th consecutive quote from the Old Testament showing the perversity of human nature). Verses 2-4 of Psalm 36 speak of the arrogance and calculated plotting of the wicked against the upright. From verses 5-10 David speaks of his confidence in Yahweh's steadfast love and righteousness. Those who have received it know of the benefits that come to those who faithfully trust in the LORD. Meditate the power of verse 9 – “with you (God) is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light” (ESV). The Father alone is eternal and not created. All life has come from Him. Verse 10 is a plea for the Creator to maintain that love for His children. Verses 11-12 is a call for the Omnipotent to silence once and for all time the arrogant. Welcome to Day 2517 of Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Day 2517 – Wisdom Nuggets – Psalm 36:10-12 – Daily Wisdom Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2517 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2517 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. In today's Wisdom Nugget, I'm delighted to journey with you through the closing verses of Psalm 36—verses 10 through 12 from the New Living Translation. This psalm, written by David, began with a sobering reflection on the nature of sin and transitioned into a celebration of God's unfailing love, faithfulness, and provision. In these final verses, David offers a prayer for God's continued protection and justice while expressing confidence in God's ultimate victory over evil. Let's begin by reading Psalm 36:10-12: Psalm 36:10-12 (NLT) 10 Pour out Your unfailing love on those who love You; give justice to those with honest hearts. 11 Don't let the proud trample me or the wicked push me around. 12 Look! Those who do evil have fallen! They are thrown down, never to rise again. A Prayer for Love and Justice (Verse 10): David opens this section with Verse 10 in a heartfelt prayer: “Pour out Your unfailing love on those who love You; give justice to those with honest hearts.” This verse reflects David's deep desire for God's love and justice to be evident in the lives of His people. The phrase “pour out Your unfailing love” calls to mind an image of abundance and overflow. David isn't asking for a small measure of God's love—he's asking for it to be lavished on those who are devoted to God. The recipients of this love are described as “those who love You.” This highlights the reciprocal nature of our relationship with God. While His love is unconditional, it flourishes in the hearts of those who seek Him, honor Him, and respond to His love with devotion and obedience. It's a reminder that loving God involves more than words; it's reflected in how we live, trust, and align our lives with His will. David also prays, “Give justice to those with honest hearts.” Justice, in this context, is about fairness and righteousness. David is asking for God to protect and vindicate those who live with integrity, ensuring that they are not wronged by the wicked or overlooked in the chaos of the world. An “honest heart” represents a life lived in transparency and truth before God, free from deceit or hypocrisy. This verse encourages us to seek both God's love and His justice. As we walk in integrity and love for Him, we can trust He will pour His love upon us and ensure that justice prevails, even in a world that often seems unfair. A Plea for Protection (Verse 11): In verse 11, David shifts his focus to a plea for protection: “Don't let the proud trample me or the wicked push me around.” Here, David acknowledges the threats posed by those who are arrogant and wicked. The “proud” represent individuals who rely on their own strength and disregard God's authority, while the “wicked” are those who actively oppose God's ways...

Welcome to Day 2515 of Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Day 2515 – Wisdom Nuggets – Psalm 36:5-9 – Daily Wisdom Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2515 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2515 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. In today's Wisdom Nugget, we continue exploring Psalm 36. In the previous verses, David reflected on the nature of sin and its devastating effects. In verses 5 through 9, David turns his focus to God's character, celebrating His love, faithfulness, righteousness, and provision. These verses contrast humanity's sinfulness with God's majesty and goodness, drawing our hearts to worship and gratitude. Let's begin by reading Psalm 36:5-9 from the New Living Translation: Psalm 36:5-9 (NLT) 5 Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. 6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, Your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O Lord. 7 How precious is Your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of Your wings. 8 You feed them from the abundance of Your own house, letting them drink from Your river of delights. 9 For You are the fountain of life, the light by which we see. God's Unfailing Love and Faithfulness (Verse 5): David begins this section in Verse 5 by declaring, “Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.” This verse paints a breathtaking picture of God's love and faithfulness. David compares God's love to the heavens, emphasizing its immeasurable and infinite nature. The vastness of the sky reminds us that God's love is beyond human comprehension—it's limitless, all-encompassing, and enduring. Likewise, God's faithfulness is described as extending “beyond the clouds.” Faithfulness here refers to God's reliability and unwavering commitment to His promises. God remains steadfast no matter what happens in our lives or the world around us. He is faithful to His Word, His character, and His people. These descriptions offer us comfort and assurance. In a world where relationships and commitments often falter, God's love and faithfulness stand firm. When we feel uncertain or overwhelmed, we can look to the heavens and be reminded that His care for us is unfailing and eternal. God's Righteousness and Justice (Verse 6): In verse 6, David continues to exalt God's character: “Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, Your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O Lord.” Here, David uses the imagery of nature to describe God's righteousness and justice. The “mighty mountains” symbolize strength, stability, and permanence, reflecting God's righteousness and unchanging and perfect nature. Just as the mountains are immovable, God's righteousness is unwavering—it forms the foundation of His rule and His actions. David then compares God's justice to “the ocean depths.” The...

Welcome to Day 2513 of Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Day 2513 – Wisdom Nuggets – Psalm 36:1-4 – Daily Wisdom Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2513 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2513 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. In today's Wisdom Nugget, we're beginning our exploration of Psalm 36, focusing on verses 1 through 4 from the New Living Translation. These verses reveal a stark contrast between humanity's sinful heart and God's righteousness, setting the stage for deeper reflection on the character of God later in the psalm. In these opening verses, David examines the nature of sin and its impact on a person's thoughts, actions, and relationship with God. It's a sobering reminder of the dangers of living apart from God's truth. Let's begin by reading Psalm 36:1-4 together: Psalm 36:1-4 (NLT) 1 Sin whispers to the wicked, deep within their hearts. They have no fear of God at all. 2 In their blind conceit, they cannot see how wicked they really are. 3 Everything they say is crooked and deceitful. They refuse to act wisely or do good. 4 They lie awake at night, hatching sinful plots. Their actions are never good. They make no attempt to turn from evil. The Subtle Whisper of Sin (Verse 1): In Verse 1, David addresses the root of sinful behavior: “Sin whispers to the wicked, deep within their hearts. They have no fear of God at all.” The imagery of sin “whispering” highlights its subtle and deceptive nature. Sin doesn't always shout; instead, it quietly works its way into a person's heart, influencing their thoughts and desires. It appeals to our selfish and prideful tendencies, gradually leading us away from God. This verse also identifies a key issue at the heart of wickedness: “They have no fear of God at all.” The fear of God, in biblical terms, means having reverence, respect, and awe for His holiness and authority. When someone lacks this fear, they live as though God doesn't exist or as though His judgment doesn't matter. Without this foundational reverence, there's no accountability, and sin gains a strong foothold. David's words remind us of the importance of being vigilant about the whispers of sin in our own lives. Sin often begins in the heart, with subtle thoughts or desires that seem harmless at first. But these whispers can grow into full-blown rebellion against God when left unchecked. Cultivating a healthy fear of God—recognizing His authority and a commitment to honor Him—helps guard our hearts against sin's influence. Blindness to Sin's Reality (Verse 2): In verse 2, David describes the self-deception that accompanies a life of sin: “In their blind conceit, they cannot see how wicked they really are.” Sin has a way of blinding people to their own condition. Those caught in its grip often live in denial, unable—or unwilling—to recognize the depth of their wrongdoing. Instead, they become consumed with pride, convinced of their own righteousness or invincibility. This “blind conceit” prevents honest...
