This episode will shock you! We have Rebekah Farmer on the show today, who is bravely sharing her lifelong struggle with her body, mind and gut rebelling against her very existence. You name it, Rebekah has had it… it is truly unfathomable just how much biological abuse she endured over 15+ years. Degenerative Disc, Insomnia, Depression, OCD, ADHD, Anxiety, chronic Acne, Osteopenia. Asthma, hives, IBS, IBD, Coeliac, chronic Lyme disease, Hashimotos, Colitis, Addisons, chronic C. Diff, Diverticulitis, Ulcerative Colitis, Scleroderma, Slow Transit Colon, and more! Can you even imagine?! Rebekah has battled with a systemic emergency for almost all her own life, with crippling pain, emotional trauma, medicated up to her eyeballs, and a body seemingly giving up on her. She was incredibly uncomfortable within her own skin, could not function normally, and weighed as little as 79lbs as a fully grown woman. Fast forward to today, and Rebekah is completely off all meds. Almost every condition and symptom has disappeared. She is happy, strong, highly functioning and thriving. How?! Keto made a huge difference to her need for medication, but it was the Carnivore Diet that has had the most profound impact in her quality of life and health. Sounds crazy right? I know. But, it sounds the same as Mikhaila Peterson's road to recovery on an all-meat diet. As well as 1000’s and growing cases online (such as MeatRX) of miraculous recoveries from modern diseases by taking this extreme and seemingly drastic course of action. You’ll want to hear Rebakah’s story. Painful, encouraging… and truly fascinating. It's time for the GamesIndustry.biz Podcast, and this week James, Brendan, and Rebakah are on hand to discuss all the big news while still leaving plenty of room to reminisce about the GameCube. The industry is once again overflowing with complaints regarding toxic work environments, after former Razer employees accused CEO Min-Liang Tan of abusive behaviour. These allegations were joined by two court rulings which saw Quantic Dream pay a former employee €7,000 over an offensive photoshopped image, while Riot Games shelled out $10 million to former employees in gender a discrimination settlement. The Nintendo Switch is set to arrive in China tomorrow, around seven months after it was initially cleared for distribution by the Chinese government. Analysts predicted Nintendo was in for a rough ride this year following some optimistic sales projections. But far from the Switch losing steam, Nintendo has enjoyed a bumper 2019 thanks to its burgeoning (if a little troubled) mobile strategy, Detective Pikachu, and continued success of the Switch. Finally: Fewer, bigger, better -- the strategy many big game publishers talked about ten years ago, but where has the industry landed on this? Well, EA has gone from releasing 50 games in 2009 to just ten games this year. Publishers are releasing fewer games, but most of those which had the chop likely wouldn't stick out, as it's predominantly licensed and shovelware games, which have become increasingly expensive to make on console, finding a new home on mobile.
In the first ever episode of the Gatty Lecture Rewind Podcast, Michael Kirkpatrick Miller sits down with Rebakah Minarchek, to discuss her Gatty Lecture, “Challenging the Map: Indigenous Resistance to Maps as an Object of Power.” Rebakah spent 20 months doing field work in Indonesia, and she draws on the case of the Kesepuhan Adat Banten Kidul indigenous group in southwest Java, Indonesia. Her research follows several communities in West Java as they navigate participatory mapping efforts in response to Indonesian legal changes that promise to turn over government-claimed forests to the country’s indigenous groups. Michael and Rebakah talk about Rebakah’s dissertation, her future projects, and her argument that "participatory" or "counter" mapping with the assistance of outside actors is no longer the only route to territorial claims for indigenous groups as they produce their own version of cartographic "truth."

She’ll share about the things she did to make ends meet and help her family at the same time and the smart decisions that she made that allowed her to take a risk on herself. In This Episode We Discuss: Generational poverty and how intelligence is a resource. The difference between a necessity and a treat. The mindset change that helped Rebekah embrace life as a freelancer and overcome her money hangups. How to know when it’s time to hire a team. Rebekah on Instagram: @rebekahaladdin Rebekah's website: www.rebekahaladdin.com The Word of the Day: Insurance I thought about describing IUL’s but what I really want to discuss is how to avoid being taken advantage of. The reason I got so upset when I heard Rebakah say that an insurance purchase went poorly for her is because it happens far too frequently. An insurance agent decides to refer to him or herself as a financial advisor but the only advice they provide is "buy this insurance." They do not help you understand your budget. They do not consider whether you have an emergency fund in place. Are you contributing to retirement? Do you have a good strategy for your student loan debt? Insurance is a product, not a service. It is unfortunate that we must be wary of people who refer to themselves as advisors and that you expect to provide a service but really are just peddling a crappy product that does not consider your complete financial picture and disappear once the sale has been made. This damages the image of the financial industry and in particular makes it hard for those of us who aren’t selling a product but providing a service. Insurance is not bad. Its job is to protect you from a risk. There is a type that is appropriate for you but a person first needs to know your full story before prescribing a cure. Some questions to ask when someone is encouraging you to purchase a product: How they get paid for your purchase. What happens when you want to get rid of the policy? What happens if you need to stop paying that premium for awhile? Do you provide support outside of this insurance purchase?
