To be vigilant means to be watchful, ready, on guard. The 1st century church needed to be vigilant for false teachers and the return of Jesus Christ. The Apostle Peter challenges the church to stand ready. We have the same need for vigilance today!
Welcome to our Sunday morning worship service. Due to the spike in COVID-19 cases in our county we are being mandated to hold our worship service out of doors, and God gave us another beautiful, sunny day to be together in front of our worship center. Pastor Gary Barber preached this morning on 2 Peter 1, "How to Live a Great Life Through God's Power.” We pray you will be encouraged and strengthened in your faith as you view the sermon. May God grant you wisdom, life and blessing as you go through this time of pandemic. Download the sermon notes used by Pastor Gary by clicking "Download PDF" and they will open in a new window where you may print or save them to your computer. If you live near the church join us each Sunday at 10:45 for our service. Come sit in chairs in front of the building or sit in your car just beyond the seating area. We would love to have you join us.

The problem with suffering and going through times of pain is that times and situations like that cause us to get so caught up in our own troubles, in the moment, that we quickly forget to do what we know to do and we end up reacting.
Sometimes we can get 'spiritually near-sighted' and miss how salvation work ... and especially how grace works in us and out of us. The apostle Peter reminds us of that grace and the character qualities is produces.

Josh Wall preaches from 1 Peter 1:1-11
One’s call and election by God is very important. But being “called ” is one thing; “finishing” well is another. Be present with open mind to examine this subject.
La Jolla Community Church begins the month of June with Communion Sunday services. Worship services are at 9:00 am and 10:45 am. The following is a recording from the 10:45 am service. Deirdre Close leads worship (vocals and piano) with Whitley Wilburn on vocals, Dave Mattia on bass, Bob Sale on drums, and Annabelle Terbetski in viola. The morning worship set begins with songs, "Great Are You Lord" and "How Great Thou Art." We then observe a time of offering. If you call La Jolla Community Church and you are following along with this service, consider giving online at https://ljcc.org/give. The band leads us in "What A Beautiful Name" as the ushers collect the morning offering. Pastor Steve Murray continues the sermon series, "Rooted in Christ" with a sermon on "What Does Spiritual Maturity Look Like?" During Communion and after, the worship band leads us back into worship with songs, "How Deep The Father’s Love For Us" and "The Wonderful Cross." The service concludes with a Benediction by Pastor Steve Murray.

One of the glorious aspects of our Christian journey is that God has not simply sent us out into the world, but He also walks with us and invites us to participate in His own nature. Try to think about that for just a moment: The infinite, holy and righteous God of all creation calls you to participate in His nature!

Opinions are everywhere. In a world full of internet bloggers it is difficult to determine what is true and what is not. As Chad Harms preaches through the book of 2 Peter in the series “Vision” we begin to see ways that we can determine truth (Pete calls it “knowledge”) in a world that makes it difficult. Peter refers to these knowledge determiners in terms of eyesight or vision. This sermon series helps us discover knowledge in a dimly lit world.
