Episode 269 - "Cultivating Mindful Mornings: Kickstart Your Day with Purpose"Before the emails, before the noise, before the world starts demanding pieces of you—there's a moment. And in that moment, you get to choose: Will you begin with intention or default to autopilot? In this episode, Michelle and Scott explore the transformative power of mindful mornings—not as another thing to check off your to-do list, but as a quiet, revolutionary act of self-respect. You'll learn how to create a morning ritual that aligns with your energy, goals, and emotional well-being (spoiler: it doesn't have to include green juice or sunrise yoga—unless you want it to). Whether you've got five minutes or fifty, you'll walk away with grounded, practical ways to start your day with clarity, presence, and purpose—so you can meet the world on your terms.Keeping Your Sh*t Together in a Stressed World is a podcast hosted by Michelle Post, MA, LMFT and Scott Grossberg, JD, CLC, CCH, NLP, and is 30 minutes of raw, irreverent, and results-oriented discussion with one purpose in mind . . . to help you cope, thrive, and survive the craziness that's going on in the world. As a reminder, our “Get Your Sh*t Together” Home Retreat can be found here:http://thinkingmagically.com/retreatReplays of prior episodes can be found at:https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/scott-grossbergYou can also join our Facebook group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/keepingystMichelle Post can be reached at michelle@postinternationalinc.com http://postinternationalinc.com

Play Episode Listen Later May 9, 2025 7:22

In this episode of "The CCA Corner," Mallory and Badmouth are joined by James Henry to discuss current issues and provide education for CCAs. The discussion begins with an update on recent events within the NALC, including the contentious tentative agreement (TA), and James Henry's perspective on leadership's handling of the membership's wishes. The focus then shifts to the rights of CCAs during disciplinary investigations (PDIs or IIs), emphasizing the crucial role of union representation. James Henry stresses the importance of CCAs understanding their rights, particularly their right to union representation throughout the entire process, and that management's questions can be seen as attempts to manipulate or trap carriers into incriminating statements. He emphasizes the importance of honesty and direct answers during such procedures. The episode covers the differences in disciplinary rights between CCAs and regular carriers. James Henry details the CLC's efforts to advocate for CCAs and the importance of member solidarity, highlighting recent additions to the team. The discussion touches on the political climate's influence on the Postal Service and the importance of collective action. A significant portion of the episode focuses on the vital role of union representation in defending CCAs, whether they're perceived as innocent or guilty. James Henry emphasizes the importance of upholding due process rights and citing the contract, and how management's attempts to pressure carriers into admitting guilt can be legally challenged. The episode concludes with a discussion of upcoming events and initiatives within the CLC, urging CCAs to be proactive in advocating for their rights. http://www.fromatoarbitration.com/

This episode features a passionate and critical discussion of the state of the NALC, with a primary focus on a recent executive council meeting. Corey begins by emphasizing that he is now speaking as the CLC's Director of Education, a deliberate shift to focus exclusively on educational topics, and then dives into the core subject of the episode which is a candid discussion about what he perceives as a constitutional crisis within the union. He criticizes Renfroe for his arrogance, which is damaging and divisive. He highlights an audio recording from a business agent, discussing why they dismissed charges against Renfroe and Barner. Corey then reads the text of the actual charges filed against President Renfroe and Executive Vice President Barner, which included allegations of failing to report official acts, neglecting convention resolutions, failing to initiate arbitration timely, bypassing required membership ratification, and failing to provide a complete report of acts. Corey argues that this was a violation of the constitution, and he has strong criticism for the Executive Council, accusing them of putting themselves before the best interests of the members. Corey ends by reiterating his call for the city letter carriers and the union to make changes and support those advocating for reforms. http://www.fromatoarbitration.com/

The Latest: What Trump's First 100 Days Mean for American Democracy

Democracy Decoded

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 30, 2025 42:22

Donald Trump took office as president on January 20, 2025, having already served one term. Immediately, however, he made clear his second term would be even more unpredictable than his first. He put one of the world's richest men — and his biggest campaign donor — in charge of a shadowy new entity with seemingly unfettered access to government data. Trump also blitzed the system with a barrage of executive orders, which have seemingly upended the government. He has done everything from threatening judges and lawyers to attacking the very concept of birthright citizenship, while Congress has remained largely on the sidelines. In short, Trump has moved aggressively against many of the checks and balances that American democracy has built in. As he works to consolidate power for the executive branch, other players have stepped up to challenge the president's moves — Campaign Legal Center among them. In this special episode of Democracy Decoded, our host Simone Leeper speaks with Trevor Potter, the president and founder of Campaign Legal Center, and Adav Noti, the executive director of Campaign Legal Center, to discuss what they've seen and what they're doing during this unprecedented moment.Host and Guests:Simone Leeper litigates a wide range of redistricting-related cases at Campaign Legal Center, challenging gerrymanders and advocating for election systems that guarantee all voters an equal opportunity to influence our democracy. Prior to arriving at CLC, Simone was a law clerk in the office of Senator Ed Markey and at the Library of Congress, Office of General Counsel. She received her J.D. cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center in 2019 and a bachelor's degree in political science from Columbia University in 2016.Trevor Potter is President at Campaign Legal Center. A Republican former Chairman of the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Trevor was general counsel to John McCain's 2000 and 2008 presidential campaigns and an adviser to the drafters of the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law. To many, he is perhaps best known for his recurring appearances on The Colbert Report as the lawyer for Stephen Colbert's super PAC, Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow, during the 2012 election, a program that won a Peabody Award for excellence in reporting on money in politics. The American Bar Association Journal has described Trevor as “hands-down one of the top lawyers in the country on the delicate intersection of politics, law and money.” He has provided testimony and written statements to Congress on federal election proposals, campaign finance regulation and, recently, the effects of the January 6th attack on our democracy. During the 2020 election season, Trevor was named to the cross-partisan National Task Force on Election Crises.Adav Noti is Executive Director at Campaign Legal Center. He has conducted dozens of constitutional cases in trial and appellate courts and the United States Supreme Court. He also advises Members of Congress and other policymakers on advancing democracy through legislation. Prior to joining CLC, Adav served for more than 10 years in nonpartisan leadership capacities within the Office of General Counsel of the Federal Election Commission, and he served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia. Episode 266 - "Mapping Human Connection: An Introduction to Sociometry with Brian Stefan"What if you could chart the invisible threads that connect us—who we trust, who we avoid, who we feel closest to in a group? In this eye-opening episode, Michelle and Scott are joined by special guest Brian Stefan for a fascinating look into the world of Sociometry. Developed by Jacob L. Moreno, Sociometry is the science of human relationships—a method for mapping emotional connections and uncovering the hidden dynamics in groups. Together, we explore how Sociometry reveals unspoken alliances, emotional distance, and group cohesion—and how this tool can be used to build trust, promote healing, and create more intentional communities. Whether you're a therapist, a team leader, or just curious about what makes human connection tick, this conversation will change how you see the space between you and others.Brian can be reached at: https://www.caligrief.comKeeping Your Sh*t Together in a Stressed World is a podcast hosted by Michelle Post, MA, LMFT and Scott Grossberg, JD, CLC, CCH, NLP, and is 30 minutes of raw, irreverent, and results-oriented discussion with one purpose in mind . . . to help you cope, thrive, and survive the craziness that's going on in the world.

Keeping Your Sh*t Together in a Stressed World with Michelle & Scott

Episode 263 - "Book Review: The Egg"In this mind-expanding episode, Michelle and Scott dive into Andy Weir's short story The Egg—a powerful parable that challenges our understanding of identity, connection, and consciousness. What if every person you've ever met . . . was you? What if life is just one long journey toward unity, empathy, and self-realization? They explore the emotional, philosophical, and spiritual implications of this story, from radical empathy to the illusion of separation. Whether you're drawn to metaphysics, storytelling, or just curious about what it means to be truly connected to everyone and everything, this episode invites you to reimagine your place in the universe.Keeping Your Sh*t Together in a Stressed World is a podcast hosted by Michelle Post, MA, LMFT and Scott Grossberg, JD, CLC, CCH, NLP, and is 30 minutes of raw, irreverent, and results-oriented discussion with one purpose in mind . . . to help you cope, thrive, and survive the craziness that's going on in the world.

I've loved watching Lauren flourish after going through our programs and I'm so excited for her to share the one thing that has recently transformed her business. In this episode, Lauren shares how transitioning to private pay packages helps her balance accessibility for her clients and sustainability for her business.Lauren Thompson, MS, CCC-SLP, CLC, is a Speech-Language Pathologist, Certified Lactation Counselor, and the owner of Well Fed Feeding and Swallowing Therapy. Lauren founded Well Fed to offer families expert, evidence-based feeding support—without the red tape of insurance delays or the frustration of waitlists stretching for months.Realizing that simply being out of network wasn't enough to distinguish her practice from traditional in-network clinics, Lauren reimagined her service model to better meet the needs of families. She introduced visit packages that provide transparency around both cost and time commitment, allowing caregivers to invest in their child's feeding journey with clarity and confidence. These flexible packages enable her to offer semi-intensive therapy, gradually taper services as families build skills and confidence, or front-load support before major life transitions, such as vacations or milestones.Through this innovative approach, Lauren has not only built a sustainable, thriving practice but has also empowered families with individualized feeding therapy that fits their needs—not a rigid, one-size-fits-all schedule. In Today's Episode, We Discuss:Lauren's original plan to be a physical therapist and why she switched to SLPProviding personalized in-home care for familiesShifting her business model to private pay packages When to think about having patients come to see you in your own spaceHow packaged pricing creates financial security and predictabilityImproving client commitment (which results in fewer no-shows!)
