Part 3 Jehovah's Witnesses, like all true Christians of every denomination, are monotheistic in their expression of belief. They, like us, believe in one eternal God. The point of divergence comes however when they maintain that the singular being of God is without a plurality of persons. The doctrine of the Trinity affirms that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society deny this truth and aggressively attacks this position in its written literature. In this teaching, we take to task the literature of the Watch Tower and counter its heretical claims with Biblical truth. For Jehovah's Witnesses, the name of God which it maintains is Jehovah is everything. But is His name Jehovah? Does history bear this out? How should the divine name of God (Tetragrammaton) be transliterated? What if, from the Watch Tower's own Bible, one could prove that Jesus is Jehovah? We endeavour to answer all these questions, proving conclusively that Jesus Christ is God. Download PDF notes: https://traffic.libsyn.com/secure/bethesdashalom/3._Doctrine_of_the_Trinity.pdf
Part 2 As one traces the history of the beginnings of Jehovah's Witnesses, two names are indispensable to the formation and development of this cult: Charles Taze Russell and his successor, Joseph Franklin Rutherford. In the 1830s, a Baptist minister from New York by the name of William Miller began sharing his new-found belief, that Jesus Christ was going to return around the year 1843. This belief began to gain momentum across denominations, and by 1840 it had become a nationwide campaign. This was the birth of what became known as Adventism and it was from this influence that the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society would emerge. In this teaching, we examine the history of the Watch Tower cult from its beginnings until the present day. We review some of its teachings that have changed during this period and critique its peculiar version of the Bible, the New World Translation. Download PDF notes: https://traffic.libsyn.com/secure/bethesdashalom/2_History_of_Jehovahs_Witnesses.pdf
Part 1 As of 2023, there are approximately 8.8 million Jehovah's Witnesses globally, spread across 239 countries. Between September 2022 and August 2023, 1.8 billion hours were spent in the field of service publishing the news of Jehovah's Kingdom with an average of 7.3 million Bible studies being conducted each month. If you compare this with the average amount of hours spent in outreach by Evangelicals, it is shameful on the part of us who profess to have the truth. Concerning missionary zeal, one cannot fault Jehovah's Witnesses for their witnessing endeavours – it's in their DNA. What do they have to show for all of this effort? Last year saw just short of 270,000 people baptised into the dedication of Jehovah's service. That's just over a quarter of a million people, won over to a cult! In this introductory teaching, we peel back the veneer of the exterior to uncover what Jehovah's Witnesses believe and teach. Kevin Rempel, 2014 Paralympic bronze medalist in sledge hockey, is today's guest. Listen in as Kevin shares his incredible life story and the wisdom he's gained. Kevin was paralyzed in a Motocross accident when he was 23. He was never supposed to walk again, but, as he says, he made it to his feet to walk again with a little bit of luck and a lot of hard work. Four years earlier, his father, was paralyzed in a hunting accident. His father severed his spinal cord, making it impossible for him to walk again. Kevin thought that he and his father would draw closer together after his accident; instead, it drove them further apart. Kevin came to understand that what was happening was a negative love relationship with his father. This discovery prompted him to attend and complete the Hoffman Process. Driven to be different from his father, Kevin worked hard in his drive to walk again. It ultimately took him four years to fully stand and walk on his own, day in and day out. You'll hear a lot of love, understanding, and wisdom in Kevin's story about his father. He shares how his attitude toward and understanding of his father changed after the Process. Kevin's transformation comes from seeing that his father was a good Dad, yet he had patterns. It is a testament to Bob Hoffman's words, "Everyone is guilty, no one is to blame." Kevin realized his second chance at life wasn't from learning to walk again. Instead, his second chance came when he learned to love himself and live as someone who truly loves himself. Discover more about Kevin Rempel: Kevin Rempel is a 2014 Paralympic bronze medalist in sledge hockey. After being paralyzed at the age of 23, Kevin not only learned how to walk again, but overcame the mental battle of both depression and living with a disability to rebuild his life, and eventually reach the Paralympic podium in sledge hockey. Kevin is an expert in change management, mental health, and resilience, delivering his inspirational message about adopting The Hero Mindset, where you focus on small things that make a big difference to help you too, become a hero in your own story. Kevin is the author of, Still Standing: When You Have Every Reason To Give Up, Keep Going. In addition to corporate presentations, Kevin is also a business coach for athletes and leaders using strategies from The Hero Mindset Blueprint to help build confidence, adopt healthy and predictable patterns, and accept radical responsibility in cultivating a confident and empowered mindset to drive results and embrace change. When you were never loved enough in the first place -- and then you witness someone else getting really, really loved – it can tear down all the defenses you've built up in order to cope with the painful absence of love in your life. If you have Childhood PTSD, you may be hiding from that pain because if you were to actually face the losses -- the breakups, the bad choices, feelings of shame or guilt -- you fear it would be unbearable. And so out of protection you stay in denial. But then something happens where you just CAN'T hide from it anymore. If you grew up emotionally neglected, you may have learned to ignore and override clear information that someone is mistreating you. At first you feel hurt and angry when they do it; you try to set a boundary and pull away. But soon, this other part of you starts making you think that it's YOU who's the bad one -- that you're just expecting too much, or you're being too unforgiving, or you're just making trouble where there isn't any trouble. THAT is how abandonment wound can distort your thinking and trap you in terrible situations. You CAN heal. In this video I respond to a letter from a single mother in a long-term dating relationship with a man who is dismissive and occasionally cruel. We had a very special guest on the show today who brought the knowledge bombs!! Mike Studer is a well known speaker and educator in neuro physical therapy and boy did he come to teach today! Always thinking of the next helpful thing for clinicians and patients, Dr. Studer shared his framework for improving how we deliver and measure cognitive training during dual tasks in order to offer a comprehensive approach. He believes cognitive training should be subdivided into holding information, processing information, generating, and recalling. He describes what each of these looks like and provides examples of how to implement them into your practice during dual task assessment and training. Dr. Studer reports testing should have a specific method, but treatment can be free and fun. He also shares how often you should do assessments vs free flowing treatment by following behavioral economics, or the study of human decision making and choice. Additionally, we get into the ways to help patients beat fear through the 4 P's: play, productivity, progress, and personalize. Get out your notebook for this one! Save it to relisten (on slow speed, lol) because you're going to get so many great takeaways that you can apply to your practice immediately.
