Do you know what a “Grace Period” on a credit card or loan is? It is the time between when the bill is due, the payment, and when you can submit it and not incur any interest. It is a period of grace to pay the full payment for your purchase or the debt that you owe. It is like the bill is due on the 10th but you have until the 15th to pay it before you get a late charge or more interest. I have used it before many times in my life. It is in the bible too! Jesus is teaching in the Temple one morning and the Pharisees bring in a woman that was “caught in the act” of adultery. (Yes, it takes two to tango and they did not bring the man, who was equally wrong). This woman was brought before the crowd and her sins were blurted out in front of everyone. She was guilty. According to “The Law” both man and woman were to be stoned/put to death. It looks like her debt was due right then. It also looks like she needed a “Grace Period”. I do when I am confronted with my sin. Jesus confronted the crowd and not only did she get a grace period, she got forgiven. You see, God’s Grace Period is Forever.

This series will cut through the noise of the world’s perceptions of Jesus and what it means to follow Him, in ways that may be surprising to some people. We’ll play off the idea of memes as jokes, rhetorical devices, and sources of misinformation to debunk popular misconceptions and bring clear truth.

Grace. It’s a short word but it is essential to Christianity. Yet, it’s very hard for us to believe, accept, and trust that it’s all God’s grace. Listen to this message to get a greater understanding of God’s grace.

One of the main operations the devil does is to be an accuser. He accuses us before God, accuses us directly, and even accuses others to us to stir up division and wrong feelings. Not only do many Christians listen to this accusations, they also repeat them and become accusers themselves. Following this path gets us out of the walk of love and into anger and bitterness. The affect this path has on our mind and body is very detrimental.

Condemnation is a horrible feeling and place to be. Sometimes that condemnation comes from people around us and is even deserved because of what we have done or haven't done. Other times that voice of condemnation comes from with in speaking harsh words that make us think that our identity is found in our battle against sin. Jesus the perfect one could condemn everyone because of their sin but instead of giving you what you deserve He treats you better than that and gives your mercy.

In one of the most famous stories in scripture, Christ shows the Jewish leaders the chief importance of how we define ourselves. They brought before Him "a woman caught in adultery". But probably all Christ saw was "a child needing redemption". Magnificently full of grace and truth, He shows the Jewish leaders the brokenness of their premise: that our labels are meaningful in the face of how He sees us. Dr. Sams illustrates how we hold ourselves back from the fullness of grace and truth by applying own own insignificant labels. Have you applied one to others? To yourself? Which labels really matter? Watch or listen. This is one of those sermons that has the potential to change every relationship you have for the better.

Bottom Line: Tolerance should pursue relational dialogue with all people despite disagreeing with their choices that are counter to what God desires.
