In today's episode I have Shawn from the Adaptive Outdoorsman as the guest that goes through his story on pushing through obstacles in life that have tried to hold him back. For many people, the pursuit of being an outdoorsman or outdoors woman isn't something that is as simple as lacing up boots and heading to the mountains. Shawn shares obstacles he has had to overcome and what resources he has used that can help you or someone you know to get back outdoors, pursuing their passions.Find Shawn: linktr.ee/adaptive_outdoorsmanJOIN RedBeard's Fit Crew on FB:https://www.facebook.com/groups/redbeardsfitcrew/ Join the 1st Phorm Outdoors Group on FB:https://www.facebook.com/groups/2873404999633900/hashtagsYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEeozMakHMvdwkNJPLs-3Aw1st Phorm Root Beer Float Protein and more!https://1stphorm.com/products/post-workout-stack/?a_aid=RedBeardOutdoors&a_aid=RedBeardOutdoors&a_bid=ce903a62Alpen Fuel for your backcountry nutrition:www.alpenfuel.comcode: RedBeardHeather's Choice meals:https://www.heatherschoice.com/discount/REDBEARDCode: RedBeard1stPhorm app for nutrition and workout tracking:https://www.1stphorm.app/RedBeardOutdoors Montana Knife Companyhttps://www.montanaknifecompany.com/BlackOvis: https://www.blackovis.com/?utm_source=redbeard&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=redbeard_outdoorsCode - RedBeard10Ollin Digiscoping:https://ollin.coCode: RedBeard10% offInitial Ascent:Code: RedbeardA3 Archery Bow Strings:https://a3archery.comRedBeard10Kryptek:https://kryptek.com/discount/REDBEARD20Code - RedBeard20Kestrel Glassing System:https://kestrelglassingsystems.comRedbeard10Dark Energy:https://darkenergy.com/?ref=johnathan_mccormickCode: RedBeardGoRuck:https://glnk.io/ko1wr/mccormick2Code: REDBEARD10SheepFeet Custom Orthotics:Code - REDBEARDMyMedic:Code – RedBeard15Canvas Cutter:Code - RedbeardAffect Beard Oil:https://affectbeard.comcode: RedBeard10Muley Freak:Code: Red.beard.outdoorsBowHunter's United:https://bit.ly/RBOUTDOORSJoybees:Redbeard20The Bow Hitch:Code – RBODThe Crazy Elk Company:https://www.crazyelkcompany.comCode – Redbeard20Other discounts below:https://linktr.ee/RedBeardOutdoors

This episode rebroadcasts Dr. Ruth Streveler's conversation with Dr. Shawn Jordan, who shares how he uses storytelling principles in his research in an effort to broaden participation in engineering. Watch this practice in action! “One of the key points of storytelling, and particularly oral tradition storytelling, is that they believe whenever you tell a story, even if it is someone else's story, that part of you is in that story because it's being told through your lens. And that, to me, is one of the things is so transformational as both a research approach as well as a teaching approach, because if we can get underrepresented students not only learning but telling stories of people in engineering pathways then that might help shift their identities as well.” - Shawn Jordan
