Bad news, CME Universe, with just a few days to go before UFC 205, Ben and Chad probably just jinxed the whole thing by recording this episode of the Co-Main Event Podcast. See, the trouble is that this is a very thorough discussion. On this week's show, your dudes break down each of the event's three title fights, including Conor McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez, Tyron Woodley vs. Stephen Thompson and Joanna Jędrzejczyk vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz. So basically those fights are now doomed to fall apart due to the parameters of the well-known CME curse. If we had to guess, we'd say the bodies likely start dropping on Tuesday. Because it's always Tuesday. On the bright side, Ben and Chad also spend some time discussing last weekend's TUF: Latin America season 3 live finale, including Tony Ferguson's rad win over Rafael dos Anjos and Diego Sanchez's victory over Marcin Held. There is also some talk of Phil Davis taking the Bellator light heavyweight title from Liam McGeary. Since those fights have already happened, they can't be wrecked by the curse, so at least you have that to look forward to. All, that, plus JSS and AYFKM.
Ronda Rousey told Ellen DeGeneres her days in the UFC are numbered, Luke Rockhold vs. Jacare Souza 2 has been cancelled, UFC Fight Night 98: Rafael dos Anjos vs. Tony Ferguson is days away as is Bellator 163: Phil Davis vs. Liam McGeary. We go over these topics and more on the Promotional Malpractice Live Chat.

Ringside Report Radio September 18, 2015. Hosted by Dave Simon and Fred Garcia. Simon and Garcia discussed Nick Diaz being suspended for 5 years by the Nevada Athletic Commission and the sport's reaction to the suspension. Simon and Garcia previewed Bellator Dynamite including their 4-man light-heavyweight tournament and Tito Ortiz' title shot against Liam McGeary. All this and much more MMA on this 1-hour episode.
Nick Diaz has been suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission for an unprecedented five years, following his marijuana test failure back in January of this year. On this week's episode we obviously have a lot to say about the prospect of spending half of a decade without Nick Diaz. Then we preview the enormous Bellator & Glory: Dynamite card taking place this Saturday night, featuring Tito Ortiz challenging for the Bellator Light Heavyweight Championship against Liam McGeary, a one-night only Light Heavyweight Tournament, and a bunch of Glory kickboxing fights in a completely seperate ring. If that 20-plus fight behemoth of a show isn't enough MMA for this week, we also take a quick look at the upcoming itan FC and World Series of Fighting cards, as well as the results of last weekend's Invicta FC 14: Evinger vs. Kianzad. Hosted by Steve Jeffery, David Abraham and Greg Persson. Listen to us Wednesday nights at 6:30pm on CFMU 93.3 FM, and online at http://www.thehammermma.com, Last Word On Sports, The Itunes Store, Stitcher, MMAPodcast.com, Player.FM, find @SteveJeffery on Twitter, or just email us.
Breaking news into the Co-Main Event Podcast just as the show goes on the air this week, and Ben and Chad offer up some instant reaction to the Nevada State Athletic Commission handing Nick Diaz a five year ban for marijuana on Monday. Or maybe the extra-stiff punishment came because Diaz had the audacity to try to show up and actually defend himself? How's that for some discourse? In addition to that, Bellator MMA takes front and center as its four-man, one night light heavyweight tournament goes down on Saturday. Who will win and what kind of No. 1 contender will they be for the victor of Liam McGeary's title defense against Tito Ortiz the same night? Only time (and the CME) will tell. Your dudes also look into troubling reports about the UFC's new drug testing partner and what that might mean for the fight company's new in-house testing program. All that. plus Just Sayin' Stuff, AYFKM and Master Tweet Theatre.
Anthony Geathers is one of the up and coming stars in the area of sports photography, and he joined Joe Rizzo (@RearNakedChoke) and Jay Kelly (@JayKellyMMA) on Rear Naked Choke Radio (@RNCRadio). Geathers (@BrooklynsSon) has most recently been photographing the camps of Bellator light-heavyweight champion Liam McGeary and World Series of Fighting middleweight belt-holder David Branch. The Bedford-Styvesant, Brooklyn-based Geathers also spent significant time over the summer shooting summer-league basketball in New York City. Geathers (Instagram: @AnthonyBGeathers) recounted his experience as a member of the United States Marine Corps and recalled the events in his life before joining the armed forces that led him to his career. He spent plenty of time at the library, but back then did not much like the classroom life, instead opting to pilfer books and videos. Listen to find out why, and which ones, but here is a hint: It led him toward MMA. Kelly and Geathers shot around some hip-hop talk (perhaps they'll spin off a separate podcast about it), and the stage was set for a new friend of the show to return. The episode kicked off with the report by our partners at CombatPress.com going with the story of Fedor Emelianenko signing with the UFC. How do the bigger, established MMA websites and the sites that cover MMA react when one of the emerging, smaller sites hits a potential scoop? That kicked of the discussion of the night, and can be continued on twitter. Follow the show on twitter: @RNCRadio. Listen by subscribing via iTunes, Stitcher or by checking us out via our content partners at CombatPress.com (especially on their big day!).

On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman once again spoke with Bellator MMA and American Top Team fighter "King" Mo Lawal. He will be returning to action on the Bellator MMA: Dynamite!!! card Saturday, September 19, in a four-man, one-night light heavyweight tournament to determine Bellator's number one contender in this division. The other fighters in this tournament are former Bellator champion Emanuel Newton, Linton Vassell, and 2008 NCAA Div. I wrestling champion Phil Davis, who will be making his Bellator debut. This card, which is headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between unbeaten champion Liam McGeary and MMA legend Tito Ortiz, takes place at the SAP Center in San Jose, California, and will be telecast live in the U.S. on Spike. We spoke with "King" Mo Lawal by phone Friday. Speaking about potentially, and in his case hopefully, having two fights on the same card, he said that he became aware of this format "when everybody else did, so it still hasn't registered yet. I feel like it will register more when camp starts because I have to maneuver my training a little bit more, because I have to train for two fights, not just one five-round fight." He continued, "It's just going to be a little different. I have to break my training up differently, so I'm still figuring out how to do that. But I'm looking forward to the challenge. I'm excited there's a possibility of this happening. To me, I always say 'possibility' now, because you never know what's going to happen until the weigh-ins end. So I'm really looking forward to this happening and I'm looking forward to training for it." "King" Mo is also a big boxing aficionado, having trained with Jeff Mayweather as well as many pro and amateur boxers. He follows boxing very closely, so we also discussed the recent revival of boxing, especially in the U.S., and the role of the controversial Al Haymon and the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) series of shows on numerous TV networks. Saying that in many ways boxing is "the opposite of MMA," he argued that PBC has the "right plan" to build new stars and expose more fans to boxing. Even some of the PBC's fights in which one fighter is heavily favored do not hurt this plan, as he noted that most boxing fans "want knockouts" and that is what will be displayed on PBC's many telecasts on free TV. He also has taken to social media to comment on the series of racist terror attacks on unarmed Black men and women by police and others which have taken place across the U.S., and the growth of the Black Lives Matter movement. As an African-American and a son of immigrants, he grew up in the American South, he said, and "I've seen it all." We also discussed why many boxers and athletes in other sports have also been outspoken on these issues, while few in MMA have for fear of losing their fan base. We also discussed how he is helping the legendary Ricardo Liborio prepare for his ADCC superfight with Mario Sperry, how his health is now better than when he had a nasty staph infection and then was taking antibiotics which hindered some of his performances, and much more. The No Holds Barred theme song is called "The Heist", which is also available on iTunes by composer Ian Snow. No Holds Barred is free to listen to and is sponsored by: American Top Team. UFC 184: Ronda Rousey vs. Cat Zingano results are in the book, as are those for Bellator 134: Emanuel Newton vs Liam McGeary and Invcita 11: Cyborg vs. Tweet. Luke Thomas breaks down all three events in this episode of the Monday Morning Analyst.
The technical term for this weekend's MMA slate is “stacked” or, if you're a true purist, even “stacked-ass.” Nope, not to confuse the layman out there, but this is one stacked-ass weekend of MMA action. As usual, the Co-Main Event Podcast has you covered, with at least as much of it as will fit into an hour and change of prime podcasting time. We'll kick off on Friday, when The Big Homie Manny Newton defends his light heavyweight title against Liam McGeary at Bellator 134. That same night, Cris “Cyborg” Justino returns to the cage to face Charmaine Tweet at Invicta 11. On Saturday, Ronda Rousey will be in action, putting her women's batamweight title and status as No. 1 female fighter in the world on the line against Cat Zinganno. In the CME of that event, Holly Holm makes her Octagon debut against Raquel Pennington. You better believe your boys Ben and Chad talk about it all. Plus AYFKM and Just Sayin' Stuff.
