We start this week's episode with a discussion about Reallusion's new facial mocap system, Accuface (which Phil and Damien have already invested in), move on to a brief contest update (being run by Pink Floyd no less), and then follow this up with our film review. If you liked the Saw series of films, then this is for you - its a particularly sadistic let's play style machinima made in The Sims 4, called I Abducted My Entire Neighborhood in The Sims 4, by Lets Game It Out... and its also just Phil's sense of humor too! We contrast our discussion with some older references to classic machinimas, which help us to make our point about just how talented this creator is. 1:36 Reallusion's Accuface release discussion18:43 Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon call for animations22:54 Review and discussion: I Abducted My Entire Neighborhood in The Sims 4 by Let's Game it Out47:09 The game is a palette: contrast the film with The Snow Witch, Phil's OBIT or RVB (Roosterteeth), illustrating the imagination of the creator50:32 Forcing The Sims to act – Phi's outtake video from Male Restroom EtiquetteCredits:Speakers: Ricky Grove, Phil Rice, Damien Valentine, Tracy HarwoodProducer: Damien ValentineEditor: Phil RiceMusic: Anno Domini Beats
Welcome to Midwinter!Thankyou to Haley and Leigh who suggested I might add the Boscastle Museum of Witchcraft & Magic and the Maggie Wall Monument to my ‘To Visit' List. Our Tree Tales this month are of the Pine tree and Christmas Trees:“In Germany the Christmas-tree is not a luxury for well-to-do people as in England, but a necessity, the very centre of the festival…For one thing, perhaps, in a land of forests the tree seems more in place; it is a kind of sacrament linking mankind to the mysteries of the woodland…at night it is a true thing of wonder, shining with countless lights and glittering ornaments, with fruit of gold and shimmering festoons of silver…The Germans have quite a religious feeling for their Weihnachtsbaum, coming down, one may fancy, from some dim ancestral worship of the trees of the wood.”Christmas in Ritual and Tradition, Christian and Pagan by Clement A. In this ep, Phil introduces the Machiniplex [Remastered] Collection, a curated selection of machinimas from the early years. Machiniplex was a site created to host classic machinimas at the point that Machinima [dot] com began to assert its energies over the community as a corporate entity. The site was a community endeavour, with both Ricky and Phil playing a pivitol role in managing the project to preserve the original content the community had contributed to the early original Machinima website... until such time as it ran its course. Phil and Ricky reminisce about the origins of Machiniplex and its contributors. To celebrate the release of the curated collection, which you can find over on Phil's Vimeo channel (links in the show notes), the Completely Machinima crew have each selected a film they recall with particular fondness and discuss its significance. Phil has remastered each of the films using AI, not always a perfect process, so we also discuss his approach and techniques in bringing the original works up to 4K standard. We encourage machinima fans everywhere to check out these films, not only were they brilliant in their day but in terms of storytelling, remain some of our favourite creative works against which we often draw comparisons when reviewing latest films.0:10 Intro and background to the Machiniplex site6:06 Blahbalicious by Wendigo and Avatar, 199710:01 BOT by Digital Yoke, 2005?18:09 Edge of Remorse by Riot Films, 200626:56 The Snow Witch by Britannica Dreams, 2006Credits -Speakers: Phil Rice, Ricky Grove, Tracy Harwood, Damien ValentineProducer: Phil RiceEditor: Ricky GroveMusic: Anno domini beats
In this episode, Ricky, Tracy and Damien discuss some of the more interesting machinima and real-time things they've trawled the internet for during the last month. Tracy gives her take on the GTA Online performance of Hamlet by Sam Crane, some interesting uses of Unreal Engine, tech tools and a fun way to simulate gravity. Damien brings Godot to the table and highlights some worrisome news about Unity, before waxing lyrical on Star Trek's Strange New World's use of Unreal. Join HJDoom as he attempts to deal with some unfinished business with Ian Livingstone's Caverns of the Snow Witch. Will he succeed? Listen along to find out. You should probably listen to the first episode of Caverns of the Snow Witch before diving into this one.
Join your ever optimistic host HJDoom as he embarks on a freezing journey through some of the most inhospitable terrain yet featured on Fantastic Fights. Mammoths, Frost Giants, and surly dwarves abound in this deadly quest to defeat the abominable yeti and plunge into the mysterious lair of the even more mysterious snow witch. Will our hero make it out alive? What is the best flavour of crisps to eat when you're nearly dead? Some of these questions may possibly be answered as you listen along.
We're back to our old tricks of listening at doors and sticking our finger into things we probably shouldn't, as we go looking for the Snow Witch and hope that she'll offer us some Turkish Delight instead of trying to kill us. It might happen, you don't know. May our stamina never fail! Campaign on Dice is not affiliated with Fighting Fantasy. Too fat to blend in with the elven slaves of the Snow Witch? Better lay off those sandwiches... Things are looking bleak but we try to stay frosty whilst this adventure moves at a glacial pace. It would be cool if we could chill for a while, but we're doing the polar opposite. See Ian, there are lots of different ways to describe cold things. May our stamina never fail! Real provisions mean real danger as Martyn puts his stomach on the line to meet a listener challenge whilst climbing a mountain to hunt a Yeti. Why isn't everyone listening to this podcast?
