Daniel and Adam kick off this episode reflecting on their loyal live audience, debating the virtues of being someone's Friday night bedtime story. The discussion quickly shifts to personal updates, with Daniel sharing the trials of summer running in Florida and adjusting his training schedule for an upcoming half marathon. Adam, meanwhile, reveals his latest obsession with 3D printing black and white animals and floats the idea of turning gourmet food photos from his travels into 3D-printed wall art. The pair have a lively exchange on home décor, digital photo displays, and the (sometimes questionable) placement of family photos. The conversation moves to family stories, including Adam's Mother's Day culinary adventures, complete with tales of chocolate pie and a mother who can't resist spoiling the family dog (and perhaps herself). Daniel and Adam reminisce about past podcast episodes, discussing early contests like the celebrity death phone, and how AI tools are now helping them unearth embarrassing gems from their early years. They even consider reviving their original “Say good night, Adam” sign-off for nostalgia's sake.Rounding out the episode, the hosts dive into the Contact segment, sharing a listener voicemail about Ruth Buzzi and swapping Conway Twitty trivia. Listener emails prompt cruise tips for Alaska and memories of the Mendenhall Glacier—along with the weighty subject of carrying giant camera lenses on hikes. As always, the banter is warm, geeky, and filled with inside jokes for long-time fans.Email: Contact@MixMinusPodcast.comVoice/SMS: 707-613-3284
In honour of World Migratory Bird Day, we're listening to two songs about birds! And also, Christmas! "The Gift" by Garth Brooks definitely has a bird in it, but beyond that, offers more questions than answers. "Christmas is For the Birds" by Conway Twitty and, uh, "His Little Friends", has a decent amount of answers, and a decent amount of birds, but a distressingly low amount of Conway Twitty. The ranking music in this episode is "The Christmas Song" as performed by Big Bird and the Swedish Chef. Also, here's a link to an image of a masked lapwing.
Welcome back to this week's exciting episode of Diving in Deep! Sara sits down with the talented grandchildren of country music legends Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn, Tre Twitty and Tayla Lynn! In this heartfelt conversation, they share their journey as a tribute band honoring their grandparents, revealing incredible behind-the-scenes stories, and personal anecdotes that highlight the legacy of Conway and Loretta. From their childhood memories to the challenges of touring, this episode is packed with laughter, nostalgia, and a deep appreciation for family and music.Discover how Tre and Tayla blend their own musical influences with the iconic sounds of their grandparents, hear about their new album, and even some of their hot takes on pop culture.Don't miss this chance to connect with the next generation of country music stars! If you enjoy the episode, please like, subscribe, and share your thoughts in the comments below.Listen to Unbroke: (https://ffm.to/seunbroke).About Tayla Lynn & Tre Twitty:There's a moment right at the very beginning of any Twitty & Lynn show that affords country music fans the chance to look back in time. Just after the band has played the signature intro to “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man,” Tre Twitty and Tayla Lynn shoot each other a glance that summons the electrifying chemistry of their grandparents: Tre is the grandson of Conway Twitty, Tayla is the granddaughter of Loretta Lynn.Audiences can't believe their eyes. From that moment, for the next 90 minutes, they're in the presence of living country music history. “Fans have told Tayla and me that when they see us onstage singing, talking, and just looking at each other, they think, ‘Wow, there must be something genetic in those two families,'” Tre says. “It validates the experience of the concert for them. We're telling our grandparents' story through our story.”But Twitty & Lynn — and their internationally popular show “A Salute to Conway & Loretta” — aren't impersonators. Tre doesn't groom Seventies sideburns and perm his hair; Tayla doesn't mimic her grandmother's mannerisms. Rather, they are onstage celebrating country music, the lost art of duet singing, and the two beloved icons they refer to as “Poppy” and “Memaw.”LET'S BE SOCIAL:Follow Tayla Lynn & Tre Twitty:Instagram - (@twittyandlynn)Facebook - (@Twitty and Lynn)Instagram - (@taylalynnfinger)Facebook - (@Tayla Lynn)X - (@taylalynnheller)TikTok - (@taylalynnofficial)Instagram - (@tretwitty)Facebook - (@Tre Twitty)Follow Diving in Deep Podcast:Instagram –(@divingindeeppod)TikTok – (@divingindeeppod)X – (@divingindeeppod)Facebook – (@divingindeeppod)Follow Sara Evans:Instagram – (@saraevansmusic)TikTok – (@saraevansmusic)Twitter – (@saraevansmusic)Facebook – (@saraevansmusic)Produced and Edited by: The Cast Collective (Nashville, TN)YouTube – (@TheCastCollective)Instagram – (@TheCastCollective)Twitter – (@TheCastCollective)Directed by: Erin DuganEdited By: Sean Dugan, Corey Williams, & Michaela Dolphhttps://www.thecastcollective.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Brennan Edwards is a singer/songwriter based in the northern part of the Shenandoah Valley. Brennan has been making a name for himself well beyond his hometown of Winchester, Virginia. Brennan's interest in country music began with Artists such as David Allan Coe and Conway Twitty, but Hank Williams ultimately played the biggest part in the music he plays today. Brennan is also greatly influenced by bluegrass. He spent much of his childhood going to bluegrass festivals with his grandmother, and His mother's five siblings are locally and nationally renowned bluegrass musicians, all currently recording and performing in their own bands. This has been a big year for Brennan, and I will not be surprised to see this guy's career explode before we know it.

“I wanna talk about DOWNTIME…” Many moons ago during the B.R. era (Before Russ), back in the early days of this podcast with Adam, we took on The 1st Four of The Big 4, taking a look at each of the debut albums from Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica, and Slayer, respectively. To take that episode a step further (and to add a slight twist to the original premise), we thought it might be fun (and a bit of a challenge) to attempt to identify which tracks would be considered the DEEP CUTS from The First Four albums of EACH of The Big Four thrash bands. Be sure to check out our Patreon for a brand-new way to “splat” with some “liquid sneeze” and remember that when it comes to Conway Twitty, “the power was in his hair”. Don't forget to pick up your “Queenthrax” tickets, find out why “English is stupid”, and get ready to JOIN US (whenever you get a little “DOWNTIME”) as we begin our descent and dig down deeply into THE BACKSIDE OF THE FIRST FOUR OF THE BIG FOUR. During his career, guitarist Jesse Ed Davis played with over 100 major artists, including Bob Dylan, the Allman Brothers, John Lennon, and Rod Stewart. His first brush with notoriety was playing with Conway Twitty in Oklahoma City, and he honed his chops with Taj Mahal after moving to Los Angeles. Jackson Browne credits Davis's guitar solo on “Doctor, My Eyes” with helping that song to become a Billboard Top 10 hit in 1972. On Friday, October 25th, 2024, we traveled to The Eastern in Atlanta, Georgia for the Saint Lucifer's Hospital 1920 Tour to see KING DIAMOND & OVERKILL (LIVE!) in concert, and it was everything we wanted and expected it to be: A perfect venue without a bad spot in the house, incredibly killer bands with album perfect production and sound, and absolutely ZERO traces of “party gravy” to be found anywhere on the premises. Regrettably, we missed show opener NIGHT DEMON because we had to drive “from South Carolina” through Atlanta traffic to get to the venue and the start time of the show was far earlier than we expected, as opposed to back in the day when it was “doors open at 8, show starts at 2:30 am”. We have an “UPDATE” from a previous episode regarding “every married man's fantasy”. Back in the 1960s, Country and Pop singer Conway Twitty recorded a song entitled “It's Only Make Believe.” Now, while that song was about a dating couple, the title seems to apply to the world in which we live today. What is real? What is fake? What is pure propaganda? What is hidden from view, and who is hiding it? As the group, the Young Rascals sang in a song, “How can I be sure, in a world that's constantly changing?” Bob helps you dig to the truth and be discerning. Now, do you believe in this ministry? On this week's episode of Rooted Recovery Stories, Patrick is joined by the lovely, talented and hilarious Tayla Lynn, granddaughter of country music legend and icon, Loretta Lynn. All this and more on this episode! We would love to hear from you! Email us at ROOTED@PROMISES.COM About Tayla Lynn! There is a bright eyed enthusiasm to singer/songwriter Tayla Lynn that cannot be denied. There is a warmth in her voice, truth behind her piercing blue eyes, and genuine affection when she speaks of her history, her family and friends, and most of all her art. Born into one of Nashville's greatest musical dynasties, Lynn's passion for singing and performing was sparked from an early age watching Loretta Lynn and Ernest Ray Lynn. She was four the first time Loretta Lynn took her on stage. Signed to Skyville Records in 2007, Lynn's first major musical project was the trio Stealing Angels with Caroline Cutbirth and Jennifer Wayne. Her first solo project, The Ranch, released in 2016, was the culmination of a move across the country, addiction, recovery, a lot of hard work, and a dash of her grandmother, Loretta Lynn. She writes and sings her truth about love, healing, motherhood, and the coal dust that runs through her Kentucky veins. Lynn's album on Heart of Texas Records, 'Tayla Lynn sings Loretta Lynn', is available everywhere! Instagram: @TheCastCollective Twitter: @TheCastCollective About Loretta Lynn: Loretta Lynn has long been established as the undisputed Queen of Country Music, with more than 60 years of recording and touring to her name. A self-taught guitarist and songwriter, Lynn shook up Nashville by writing her own songs which tackled boundary-pushing topics drawn from her own life experiences as a wife and mother. “Coal Miner's Daughter,” “Fist City” and “Don't Come Home A' Drinkin' (With Lovin' on Your Mind)” are just three of 16 country No. 1 singles. Inducted into more music Halls of Fame than any female recording artist, including The Country Music Hall of Fame & Songwriters Hall of Fame, and was the first woman to be named the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year in 1972. Lynn received Kennedy Center Honors, a Presidential Medal of Freedom and was named recipient of Billboard's inaugural Women in Music “Legend” Award. With 18 nominations, Lynn has won four Grammy Awards, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010. She has sold more than 45 million records worldwide. Still Woman Enough, Lynn's 50th studio album (excluding her 10 collaborations with Conway Twitty) became her latest. In it she celebrates women in country music, including a cover of “Keep On The Sunny Side” and a new interpretation of her very first single, “I'm A Honky Tonk Girl". #lgbtqia #trauma #recovery #podcast #mentalhealth #lifestyle #inspiration #purpose #therapy #selfcare #healing Keywords: trauma, recovery, podcast, mental health, rooted recovery stories, mental health podcast, trauma podcast, anxiety podcast, recovery podcast, coping mechanisms, nashville, domestic violence, trauma, podcast, interview, country music,

A continuation of our discussion on Conway Twitty and Eminem, on this episode we will be highlighting good songs from the two artists we talked about last week. First, Danny got carried away and kept adding songs to what was supposed to be a 3 song playlist. By showcasing 3 stages of Conway Twitty's career, we are treated with songs that demonstrate better writing, but crucially his excellent voice at the peak of its powers. Then we go deeper in to Eminem as an artist. We talk about what makes him tick and what makes him so popular. We also have some side discussions about Jay-Z vs Nas, the Alchemist, and Eminem's upcoming album.Danny's Conway Twitty Playlist - Spotify - Youtube - Apple MusicJulius's Eminem Playlist - Spotify - Youtube - Apple MusicSongs featured in this episode with link to purchase:There Stands the GlassHell of a LifeStud SpiderRenegadeDon't Let Me Down (Youtube Link)Coming up:2024 New Music Favorites - AlbumsSierra Ferrell - Trail of FlowersMach-Hommy - #RICHAXXHAITIAN2024 New Music Favorites - Songs + Other Notable ReleasesDanny's 3 2024 Songs: Spotify - Youtube - Apple MusicJulius's 3 2024 Songs: Spotify- Youtube - Apple MusicSend us a text message!Follow us: Instagram Twitter Tiktok We'd like to hear from you - send us an email: thegmspod at gmailLeave us a rating and review if you want to!Thanks for listening!
Julius's daunting prompt for this episode was to find an album with one good song. This week on the Good Music Show, we discuss mostly bad music. And feel free to make your guesses now, we won't reveal the 1 good song right away! Just don't click the links below if you don't want it spoiled!First, Julius's pick is Eminem's "Recovery," an album they heard when it first came out and marked a downward spiral for Eminem's career. We'll break down Eminem's place in American music culture, and what turns us off from his music, as well as what works. Then, Danny provided an album from Conway Twitty's later years that doesn't hold a candle to his best work. A project that is overall meandering and lacks the confidence and swagger that won the hearts of a lot of women in the 70's.Tune in next week where we mend the wounds left by our eviscerating commentary, and discuss songs by both artists that we love!Songs featured in the episode, spoiler alert!Eminem's One Good SongConway Twitty's One Good SongLink to the video we watched at the endComing up:Bonus: Good Songs by Conway Twitty and EminemDanny's Playlist - Spotify - Youtube - Apple MusicJulius's Playlist - Spotify - Youtube - Apple Music2024 New Music FavoritesSierra Ferrell - Trail of FlowersMach-Hommy - #RICHAXXHAITIANDanny's 3 2024 Songs: Spotify - Youtube - Apple MusicJulius's 3 2024 Songs: Spotify - Youtube - Apple MusicSend us a text message!Follow us: Instagram Twitter Tiktok We'd like to hear from you - send us an email: thegmspod at gmailLeave us a rating and review if you want to!Thanks for listening!

THE TROUBADOUR PODCAST - The Premier Red Dirt, Texas Country and Independent Music Podcast
The #1 way you can support The Troubadour is by visiting our Patreon page This episode features our interview with Country Music artist Donice Morace. You can't fake authentic. You know it when you see it – and you know it when you hear it. Authentic isthe best word that can be used to describe Donice Morace. From his chiseled good looks and easy-goingpersonality that exude the confidence of a man who knows exactly who he is, to his music which catchesyour ear and takes you back to another era when country music was defined by vocal stylists who were immediately identifiable, Donice is truly authentic. Donice began his journey in music at the tender age of six when his father bought him his first guitar. By the time he was a junior in high school he was singing in choir, and after seeing George Strait in concert while in college at Texas A&M, it became clear to him that music would be his life's calling. The Vidor,Texas native found inspiration from the music of Keith Whitley, George Jones, and Conway Twitty. And while those country traditionalists helped to shape his own sound, it was two local country music heroes, Tracy Byrd and Mark Chesnutt, who gave Donice a good blueprint when it came time to take hiscareer to the professional level and launch his own band. “I learned so much from watching how they had handled their careers. It was like Honky Tonk 101. Donice continued to grow his stock with the release of his debut self-titled EP in 2017, which featured the top 25 single, “Good Hurt Comin' On,” and “WD-40 and Duct Tape,” which was accompanied by a music video, and peaked at number 15 on the Texas Regional Radio Report. He doubled down with the release of his debut album ‘Long Live the Cowboy' in 2019, unashamedly putting the cowboy back in country music. Fast forward to today, Donice recently released his latest critically acclaimed album ‘This Life I Love,' marking a watershed moment for Donice to continue stake his claim on the country music landscape. The album features his recent trilogy of hit singles and music videos, “One Drink In,” “Goin' Goin'” and “Wait Til I'm Gone.” Individually and collectively, these songs have shone a bright light on the Texas native, notched him a win as “Emerging Artist of the Year” at the 2022 Texas Country Music Awards, and garnered high praise and coverage from some of country music's largest media outlets. Donice Morace remains the “One to Watch” in the neo-traditional country music movement that he is helping to spearhead. We're also excited to say that we are now an affiliate for Sweetwater. A.I. is getting more and more wild by the day. An A.I. system produced a song sang by Conway Twitty, but it used the words from 50 Cent's hit song "In da Club." It's an earworm you won't forget!

Schweezy attempts to cancel himself by talking about all the hot moms out there on Mother's Day with a cheeky reminder that DMs are open for all the MILFs. But amidst the lighthearted banter, we delve into darker territory as we discuss the disturbing videos that haunt our online experiences, from gruesome injuries to the antics of Cool Guy's™. We then switch gears to explore a controversial quote from Waylon Jennings about a Conway Twitty show, reflecting on societal standards of beauty and the nature of public appearances. Next, we dive into a review of the HBO series "The Righteous Gemstones," which offers a satirical take on megachurch culture in the American South. From scandalous secrets to family dynamics and religious hypocrisy, we dissect the show's portrayal of wealth, power, and faith. We then ponder questions about gender norms, attractiveness, and emotional expression, exploring topics like the appeal of shaved heads on women, the prevalence of tears, and the significance of scars on one's body. As the discussion unfolds, we reflect on personal experiences of expertise and challenges, questioning societal perceptions and individual motivations. And in a thought-provoking segment, we ponder the intersection of religion and politics, asking why many Christians support figures like Donald Trump despite apparent contradictions. Finally, we contemplate the idea of expanding education to include practical "adult stuff" in schools, considering the implications and benefits of a more comprehensive curriculum. . . . Brent Mason has picked for the biggest and best names in country music: Alan Jackson, Willie Nelson, Shania Twain, Brooks & Dunn, Blake Shelton, and George Strait are just a few of the country stars on whose records you can hear Mason's Fender-on-Fender fretwork. But his solo on “Southbound Train,” the closing track on Travis Tritt's 2000 record Down the Road I Go, might be his hottest work of all. As Mason explains, the song scoots along at his favorite country tempo—a Cajun two-step, Mason says—which provides the rhythmic framework for his face-melter lead. Mason says the melodic and structural components came in part from his familiarity with jazz, and the mixing of jazz and blues with his usual twangy conventions. In fact, Mason's furious note barrages occasionally earned him some raised eyebrows (and some choice words from Conway Twitty) in the more traditionalist Nashville studio system. This might be the toughest solo our host has taken on so far on Shred With Shifty. The key to wrestling it? “You gotta keep playing [it] til you wanna pull out all your teeth and hair,” says Mason. Which Nashville producers and stars would let Mason off-leash in the studio? How does a session ace deal with hand injuries? Listen on, shredders. And if you're brave enough, send in your take on Mason's solo. Click below to subscribe to the podcast!
