This week, Eric and Sean go toe to toe to decide which deck is superior in Standard: Temur Adventures or Sultai Ramp. Also, get a sneak peek into Carolyn's new book "The Sisterhood of the Travelling Embercleave".
The boys stop in for a quick cast before leaving for the SCG Con. Garrick's salty about Standard Showdown. Dishonesty has no place in the Magic World and Dan breaks down the deck that was built on pure HATRED, Momir. All this is brewing in the kitchen on this week's episode.
Vera and Del talk about their decks (Sultai Dreadhorde Superfriends and Azorius Aggro-ish respectively) and how they did (really well!) at a recent Magic event. Then Del gets into the weeds about opposing a system.
Join us as we discuss the Standard Showdown event this week as well as last weeks FNM. We get a little deeper into draft territory as we discuss winning records in the draft at our local game store as well as James's 7-1 draft event on Arena. You'll also finally get find out what my favorite card is. Spoiler alert, it's not a mosquito artifact card.

Now, in the past we've talked about stores losing WPN status from not having enough in-store space or not running enough events a week, but never before have we had the reason be the owner go off on a good ol' fashioned racist tirade. To quote Mr. Dugout himself: "WOTC kicked me off because of something I said in my store if you can believe that! No freedom of speech here in JewMerica. I am still in shock, and anger, and disbelief but it's true." That escalated quickly. So, my JewMerican cohosts, if your store was to be denied WPN status, how would you make your less-than-graceful exit in your Facebook post?

Admittedly, I was upset when I opened a few crap rares in my showdown pack. But I wasn't completely upset. The tournament was well-run and was what I was used to as a player. Hey ATA Listeners, when it comes to this podcast, an old saying from Westerns comes to mind about this town not being big enough for the two of us. Although, just in case you were wondering I'm not referring to Nico and I. I'm actually talking about the episodes of our favorite sci-fi/fantasy shows we reviewed for the week because they all seemed to feature a standoff between our favorite heroic characters and an arch nemesis. First off, on Alphas we had a literal battle of the minds between Dr. Rosen and the immortal big bad Stanton Parish, then with Warehouse 13, Artie and Brother Adrian's conflict over the astrolabe began to heat up by taking another nasty turn and last but not least Doctor Who appeared to set up a Wild Western shootout with a cyborg that gave way to the Doctor battling a far greater nemesis himself as he was confronted by an alien Doctor, who was a skewed version of his David Tennant persona. In other words, to sum everything up this here podcast has got itself several good old-fashioned showdowns so draw your iPod from its holster and PRESS PLAY for some discussion slinging action!
