A skit from the Maxwell House Coffee show on Dec. 26, 1940... almost 81 years to the day that I am posting this... Dec 25, 2021. Fanny Brice as Baby Snooks and Hanley Stafford as her father "Lancelot Higgins" are returning just about every present they were given... and Baby Snooks is trying to "re-gift" suspenders to the announcer, who gave the very same suspenders to her Daddy. That doesn't work out. Daddy takes Baby Snook and her little brother, Robespierre to the Dept. Store to return the gifts, but Snooks wants to talk to Santa... One thing to keep in mind is that this was 1940 and parents often spanked their children... so when Daddy spanks Snooks... keep in mind that the listeners identified with it and it was not criticized. Also note that Daddy was going to leave baby Robespierre sleeping in the car...rolling the windows down a bit and locking the door... another "no...no" by today's standards.
