Beat Migs! And let's go TRACK BY TRACK on super bowl performers.
The DMD is here! And we talk simple questions and go TRACK BY TRACK!
This really is it now - the final Track By Track. We're devoting the whole of the last ever episode to further listening for Pet Shop Boys 'Nonetheless', with so many great B-sides from the recent album/single campaign we just had to talk about as many as possible - an indulgence? For sure! ...Now ask yourself can you even forgive us?
It's the final Track By Track and we're finishing where we started back in 2018 - by talking about the latest Pet Shop Boys album. Back then it was 'Super' this time we're waxing lyrical about 'Nonetheless' which is also our album of the year, and a fitting end to our time with you. Enjoy.
A very special episode with a great guest on a brilliant, underrated classic LP of the 80's, one of my personal favourites, Hearts and Bones by Paul Simon (second only in his back catalogue to Bridge Over Troubled Water in my book...)NOT an audio commentary so no syncing up required so sit back, relax, close your eyes and indulge (unless driving) with the legendary producer, Russ Titelman, on the majestically beautiful Hearts and Bones by Paul Simon (yet intended for Simon & Garfunkel).TRACKS;Side ONEAllergiesHearts and BonesWhen Numbers Get SeriousThink Too Much (b)Song About The MoonSide TWOThink Too Much (a)Train In The DistanceRene and Georgette Magritte With Their Dog After The WarCars Are CarsThe Late Great Johnny AceTo help support the pod (I'm weakening to the idea of ads...)Paypal via 80sography@gmail.com. It was a pleasure to welcome back John Roche (Guitar & Bass) & Shane "Red" Corcoran (Vocals) of brutal Death Metal band Crimson Butchery, to the show. Flying the flag for Death Metal, the Kilkenny duo have released their sophomore album 'Violence by Design' independently on November 1st. This album, like much of Crimson Butchery's work, has a masterful blend of technical riffs and drums and brutal mayhem of old-school 80s and early 90s death metal, with Red giving a master class in true guttural vocal styles. Mixed and Mastered by Floor van Kuijk once again, with programmed drums instead of a drummer, Crimson Butchery have once again released an all killer no filler lesson in brutality. Red & John do a track by track run through of the album with me and there's plenty of insights into the inspiration behind the lyrics and music. I hope you enjoy the chat and of course 'SUBSCRIBE' to the channel. As we bring Track By Track to a close we wanted to each choose one episode from the Patreon vaults from the artists we love the most. This time it's Dan's choice: New Order's epic compilation, Substance 1987, which brought together the band's singles up until that point - many of which hadn't appeared on an album before. Let us know your thoughts on the episode and the album @trackbytrackuk, and look out for Will's pick heading your way next week.
Hey, hello, how was your day? “Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles,” originally released 20 years ago, has grown to become a fan-favorite Local H album, and remains the favorite of band leader Scott Lucas. In his words, “P.J. Soles” was “the work of a band that had simply ceased to give a fuck.” Scott returns to Car Con Carne to take a look back at P.J. Soles in its anniversary year, and we go track-by-track through it. Specifically, each and every one of these songs: Where Are They Now? Everyone Alive California Songs Dick Jones Money on the Dresser P.J. Soles How's the Weather Down There? Buffalo Trace Heaven on the Way Down Hey, Rita Heavy Metal Bakesale Mellowed That's What They All Say Halcyon Days (Where Were You Then?) If you're a Local H fan, or simply a fan of music deep dives, this is a can't-miss episode. I've interviewed Scott many times over the past 30 years, and this is easily my favorite of the bunch.
