This school year is FINALLY ending (thank god for small favors) and we are packing up our minimally used classrooms. For many teachers, this will be their last time having to do this. Covid caused many to throw in the eraser this year and turned in keys. They will look forward to new challenges this coming fall that don't entail lesson plans and students. But for others, who are holding newly minted diplomas and teaching credentials, this summer offers time to plan for a new classroom and get ready for the beginning of an exciting, rigorous, and rewarding profession. With that in mind, today's episode will be especially interesting and informative. We depart a bit from our usual back and forth banter to welcome a guest, Victoria Lucido! Vickie has recently retired after 33 years as a middle school History and Drama teacher. Her teaching ability has been recognized by “Who's Who of American Teachers” seven times, and she was awarded “Monterey Teacher of the Year” in 1999 by Monterey Rotary. Now, she has a new book out called, Classroom Confidential: How I survived 33 years in a public school classroom, and you can too! This book gives new teachers access to 33 years of experience in just 160 pages! Today Victoria joins Jen and Anne to share her best advice for beginners. Even us old pros can pick up a new insight or two. So grab a notepad and pencil and get ready for the advice you wish you would have learned in all those fancy college credential classes, but didn't! Stay tuned! For more about Victoria: You can find her book on Amazon Her website, VictoriaLucidoBooks.com where you can find out about appearances and her many accomplishments. This is a conference we attended in California 2 weeks ago and got so much value from for our business, but don't worry if you're listening to this thinking 'jeez Mike, I don't care about Facegram or The Twitter, I just want to build a property portfolio' because none of our biggest takeaways relate specifically to social media tactics. We've got 5 high-level business and mindset topics to cover that will have a positive impact on any business. We discuss each one for a couple of minutes, so stick with us, see which of them resonate most with you, think about what would have the biggest impact on your own business, and leave the rest behind. ********* Download the two free guides we mention in this episode - https://www.insidepropertyinvesting.com/free Subscribe to our YouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/insidepropertyinvesting Follow us on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/insidepropertyinvesting/

Hello Podcastees, Our dear friend Victoria is on the podcast this week! YAY! Today Victoria and Maya will be talking about what it means to serve. Victoria recently went to Thailand for two weeks with her church on a missions trip and also volunteered with Purpose Ministry - a ministry that fights against human trafficking and gives women a chance to have an education, a sustainable job, and a chance at a new life. We will also be talking about what it means to serve both in our communities and abroad! You guys are going to love this conversation! Victoria and I talk about how serving and missions play an important role in our lives. We talk about missions trip logistics - fundraising especially - and talk about how to prepare for the fears leading up to the trip, and the confusing feelings that occur once regular life is in full swing again. All of these things are SO NORMAL and we just want to bring all of the doubts and myths about missions trips to light! If God is nudging at your heart to go on a trip - we encourage you to do it! We know missions are not for everyone, but we do believe that serving in our communities is a huge part of who we are as Christians. Go out and be the light that God has designed you to be! There's so much good stuff coming your way and I know you guys are going to love this conversation. With that in mind, you can listen to the podcast in a few different ways. Victoria Canal is with us on today's show. She is currently on tour with Michael Franti. Victoria was born in without her right forearm due to amniotic band syndrome. Noone or nothing can stop Victoria. Her sheer will and determination will prove that her musical talent as a songwriter, singer and keyboardist will carry her to the top and stay there for years to come. Victoria has lived all around the world, including Dubai, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Amsterdam. She's a mix of Cuban and American descent but refers to herself as Spanish-American because Spain is where she was raised most of her life. She began playing piano as early as 6 years old and now, at 20 she's a force to be reckoned with. She's been on tour with Michael Franti and was generous to give us a live interview. So we're on the bus chatting it up. I just love what she says about life: "In life what I found to be crucial is to have direction and it doesn't matter how many times you change direction just as long as you're not floating. So if you know you're going somewhere and if you don't know where you're going, you're not going to go anywhere at all, but if you decide where to go, even if it takes you unexpected ways and you end up somewhere else, at least you went somewhere!" Today Victoria discusses: How she started taking piano lessons at age 6 with her grandma. How she has lived in over 100 places around the globe. How she decided to go to school online rather than a brick and mortar school. Manifestation and the reality of it. Her method of writing her songs and music. And so much more, so get your headphones out and check out Victoria Canal's interview. Here's a bit of footage from her live show at the Jannus Live: Victoria Live in Action Want to play keyboards? That technique – essentially emotional cellular reprogramming – is called Sleep Magic. Today Victoria lives in the ancient hills of West Virginia with her husband, Robert, and two cats. She mentors those wanting to master the technique of Sleep Magic and paints.
