#973. It's amazing how two people can answer NSYNC questions for over 25 years... and still tell stories you've never heard before.Lance Bass and Joey Fatone are on the pod, and somehow we go from *NSYNC reunion rumors... to Broadway... to Britney Spears... to hot dogs... to Christmas cats... and it all makes perfect sense. We get into what it was actually like getting back into the studio together after all those years, why the band never really "broke up," and what fans still get completely wrong about where everyone stands today. They share behind-the-scenes stories from the height of boy band mania, open up about growing up in the spotlight before social media, and explain why watching fame from the inside looked very different than it did from the outside. But honestly? Our favorite part of this episode is just listening to these two together. They roast each other nonstop, finish each other's stories, completely derail the conversation (more than once), and had us laughing so hard we almost forgot we were recording a podcast. We also talk about their new E! series Cocktail Wars and play a couple of games that reveal who you'd actually want to be stuck at a bar with.Whether you grew up in the TRL era or you're just here for the laughs... this one's for you.If you're LOVING this podcast, please follow and leave a rating and review below! Warum? Weiß keiner so genau. Vielleicht dachte sein Körper einfach: Da kommt was – da mach ich mal was draus. Sarah is embracing her Spanish language learning, but she can only speak it with a deep, Buzz Lightyear voice, and we love it. Susie watched the Dark Wizard HBO docuseries about extreme sporting pioneer, free solo climber, and base-jumping enthusiast, Dean Potter, and we discuss why this is a hate-watch for us, how men will do anything instead of going to therapy, and why Susie hates extreme sports bros with all her heart. We hear about a study that determined that urban birds are more afraid of women than men, and we want to know why. There was a crossword crisis recently, and the puzzle nerds were losing their minds about it. We debate whether there are any MTV Challenge cast members who are better at getting around the rules of the show than we are. And we hear about the boy band documentary that chronicles the experience of the young men who are thrust into pop stardom and sign exploitative contracts, and why it reminds us of reality tv fame.Brain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:For 50% off your order, head to https://www.dailylook.com and use code BRAINCANDY Get 60% off your cat's first order, plus free shipping and free treats for life, when you go to https://www.smalls.com/BRAINCANDYThis episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. A few years ago, author Emma Straub saw a story about New Kids on the Block hosting a tropical cruise for their fans. That planted the seed for Straub, whose new novel, American Fantasy, is about a fictional, aging boy band called Boy Talk that sets sail for five days of nostalgia. In today's episode, the author speaks with NPR's Justine Kenin about the 50-year-old female fan at the center of the novel. Straub also shares her experience receiving feedback on a draft from New Kids member Joey McIntyre. To listen to Book of the Day sponsor-free and support NPR's book coverage, sign up for Book of the Day+ at plus.npr.org/bookofthedaySee pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for sponsorship and to manage your podcast sponsorship preferences.NPR Privacy Policy
A new documentary on what it was REALLY like to be a member of a 90s/00s boy band has been released on Investigation Discovery and HBO Max. Produced by Joey Fatone of *NSYNC, this two-part series goes a lot farther than the myriad of others produced on the subject. Here I go through 5 moments that stood out to me, but really there is SO MUCH more that I could not possibly cover so you should definitely check it out for yourself and let me know your thoughts!PATREON Subscribers heard this episode completely ad-free! You might also hear about a secret pocket of the internet...
