Sound your funky horns...it's Episode #50 of Badass Records Podcast, and what a ride it's been so far!I hope there're many more episodes to come and that you'll keep tuning in to see the latest and greatest conversations with all of my amazing guests. But, now -- without any further ado...let me tell you about how excited I am to share this week's episode with you.Sometimes, as we make our way through our days, we stumble upon opportunities for new connections. I could be sitting here typing these words, preparing to drop my 50th podcast episode, and the road to today could've looked different. That difference could've been tiny; it might've been huge. And who knows. Maybe everything'd be just fine.Things went the way they went, though, and I wandered across a connection with Steph' Rupp. And instead, everything is great. She's a daughter and a sister and a business owner with an electric smile. She's a designer, a photographer, and a professional ultimate frisbeer with a killer sense of humor. She's a dog lover, a soon-to-be wife, and a cheese connoisseur like no other. And above all of that, she's my Web/design gal.I'll pause here for the thunderous applause in your head to subside.Although she initially turned down an invite to join me on the B.R.P., she -- of her own accord -- changed her mind and surprised me one day in a cute, little, nonchalant corner of an e-mail message about something else. And to paraphrase, she did so because she believes in examining new things and challenges. What's not to love.Steph' Rupp gave me a heckuva list of records to touch on, and they were these:Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge (2004) & The Black Parade (2006), My Chemical RomanceFall Out Boy's From Under the Cork Tree (2005), Mania (2018) + everything in betweenThey're Only Chasing Safety (2004), Define the Great Line (2006), & Voyeurist (2022), UnderoathLoveless' Loveless I (2021)Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers (2022), Kendrick LamarIf that's not a (Nature Boy) Ric Flair, "Woo!" right there, I don't know what is.But...but.Checking out her records was a treat. Our chat was a treat. And she...is a treat. So please check out this super-special episode, and don't forget to give the Merch' page a peek on your way out.Thank you.copyright disclaimer: I do not own the rights to the intro/outro audio. They are clips from a tune called, "Yo!" which I borrowed from the badass record, Bass Is the Name of the Game (1988) by DJ Magic Mike (c/o Warlock Records).

On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Underoath, live from Rocklahoma. The guys start by explaining Rocklahoma wouldn't typically be their scene, however they always like to play these big rock festivals as it gives them a chance to play to people who wouldn't have heard them before. Speaking about the heat in Oklahoma and the incredible heat the last few months in venues worldwide, Pipeman says he doesn't know how they manage to perform on stage when it's so hot. The guys tell the story of playing the Austin 360 Amphitheatre, where the stage faces west and their keyboard player got mild heat stroke.Pipeman brings up the Welcome to Rockville festival which had 5 evacuations due to the weather, which begs the question, why are you having festivals in hurricane season in Florida. It also leads to fans getting upset with bands for not playing, when it's nothing to do with them. It costs a lot of money to put on these shows, so the bands want to get their money's worth and perform. The guys want to let you know they put out and album at the start of the year called Voyeurist, which is their most proud work because they produced it themselves, meaning there's no one else involved, just Underoath. We've arrived at the end of our Voyeurist journey and thought it was fitting to hear from Aaron, Spencer, Chris, Tim, and JJ, as this final song has a beautiful story in the collaboration that led to it. Through this last set of conversations, it becomes increasingly clear that the process of creating Voyeurist has led Underoath into the healthiest spot they've been in. They now seem to have a system based on trust and appreciation for one another which is not something they've always had and something many people never experience. I'm very thankful to the band for letting me explore so deeply. Excited to see what they do next. You can catch Underoath at the following festivals this year: 9/2 - Rocklahoma 9/9 - Blue Ridge Rock Fest 10/9 - Discovery Park 11/8-11/12 - Emo's Not Dead Cruise (Sold Out) Aaron Gillespie will be out on tour performing Southern Weather acoustically during the final leg of Labeled Fest. He is able to exert an extreme amount of both energy and emotional feeling as a singer, drummer and writer. He formed Underoath alongside Dallas Taylor in 1997 at 15 and has spent the last 25 years collaborating and chasing the magic of creating music, sounds and beats that make people "feel something". After seven albums you would expect Underoath to have a grasp on things musically, and with the upcoming Voyeurist (to be released on January 14), the band have managed to accomplish that and more. For the first time in their career, the band took the recording process completely into their own hands, resulting in the most collaborative effort yet seen by the masters of progressive, heavy rock.Described by the band themselves as “high-def violence”, Voyeurist is set to be a landmark record for Underoath, cementing their reputation as a band who continually – and successfully – push the boundaries of heavy rock.Vocalist Spencer Chamberlain joined HEAVY to discuss the album."This record is our first self-produced record,” he said. “It's something that we've always wanted to do, but I don't think we've ever been ready until now. Doing a self-produced record is pretty tough because you're telling each other... when you're in a band it's like a family It's kind of big brothers. It's hard to push each other in the right ways without hurting anyone's feelings or getting in fights. Obviously that stuff happened during the record, but, yeah, it's our first self-produced record ever and it's definitely - in my opinion, and I know everyone says that - but I truly, firmly believe that it's our strongest work to date. It was great to be able to really focus and work on it until we were truly happy with it. Being at that point in our career where... I don't think we need to release records... Underoath has been a band long enough where we can wait five, ten years, whatever. There's no point releasing a record if you're not feeling 100% about it. We definitely got to spend the time during all this quarantine and lockdown to make sure we were 100% on the whole album and we got there. I'm feeling really strong about it."In the full interview Spencer talks more about the album, the cinematic live performance they held recently, the conceptual thread running through the album, working more as a band in the studio, the early days of Underoath, how the band has changed musically over the years, touring plans and more.

"1. You fantasize about being watched. Perhaps one of the biggest indications that you're into exhibitionism is that you find yourself regularly fantasizing about being watched. Whether alone or with a partner: "If a common theme to the fantasies that bring you to climax are about someone observing you naked or engaged in a sexual act," then you might be an exhibitionist, says Stray Conger. "If this fantasy is a core component to your erotic template, you might explore what it would be like to bring that fantasy into reality—with consenting adults and legal behavior, of course," she says. Exhibitionism vs. voyeurism. Exhibitionism and voyeurism actually go hand-in-hand, Vrangalova says. "Exhibitionism and voyeurism are like two sides of a coin. Exhibitionism is about the possibility of being seen by others being arousing, while voyeurism is about watching others naked or having sex being arousing," she tells mbg. "Like exhibitionism, voyeurism is quite common (visual sexual stimuli is inherently arousing), and perfectly normal as long as it involves consenting adults." Like with exhibitionism, consent is key to voyeurism and making the two kinks function well together. "As a voyeur, I've had to learn how to respectfully enjoy the excitement and pleasure of someone that wants to be seen, especially in intimate settings during any group play or kink scenes," says Tiana GlittersaurusRex, polyamorous educator and co-founder of The Sex Work Survival Guide. "Watching verbal and nonverbal cues, how their bodies react or move, and knowing my attention is an additional form of participation is what makes the delicate dance of watcher and watched all the more titillating. The entertainment industry is worth billions because we live in a society that has people that love to perform and the fans that love to ogle." --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support
