Weekly discussion of all news and events relating to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.
In Episode 26 I discuss the fallout from the news that it appears the Bulldogs have withdrawn their interest in AFB! I give my spin on it. I also go through some other viable options we could look at and why it's important we get improvement in our middle. Additionally discuss a few juniors coming through. The competition for the Starting 17 vs Parramatta in Round 1 will launch the first week players return from the Christmas break. It will run for a few weeks before we await the team that runs out in March! Winner will get choice of some doggies merchandise.
In episode 8 of NRL Media watch, i go through our Salary Cap in great detail looking at reported and estimated amounts. Brent Reed has produced an article full of mistakes that essentially misrepresents the Bulldogs cap position for 2024, suggesting we are chock a block and similar to the Roosters. This is done deliberately. They want all fans to believe the Bulldogs are spending a heap of money on fringe players that aren't giving Bulldogs fans much confidence. They want opposition fans to think the Bulldogs would not be able to afford any marquee signings. I have found that we are in a similar situation to the Dolphins and are unable to achieve the minimum cap spend unless we pay players in advance. That is overestimating or assigning the highest reported signings for most players. I also show that we only have 5 players between 500 and 850 thousand compared to the Roosters who have 10 players over that amount and 5 players above 800 thousand. Yet we are considered in a similar position cap wise. This is also why they most likely reported Connor Tracey was going to miss many weeks when Phil Gould has now dismissed that and said he will be training in January. Newscorp want Dogs fans to feel like their boss is wasting money on players when its not the case for the most part.
Gday all, In episode 25 I take a deep dive into the top 30(or top 31) squad we have currently and show our Development List and 2nd Tier extended squad list at this point of time. I look at each position and who is their to cover from round 1. Talk today regarding potential player swaps for the club who gets Addin Fonua Blake. I discuss the article and why it shouldn't be taken seriously. Also looking at why we would want to keep Kikau. Additionally provide my best 17 for First Grade and NSW Cup. Plus discussions of a competition based on Naming the starting 17 for round 1 next year which i will look to kick off next week. Thanks to all for subscribing. Please subscribe on Youtube!
In episode 24 I discuss the recent player swap of Connor Tracey and Michael Gabriel. The latest on Jerome Luai and Addin Fonua Blake. What will it mean if either of these players come to the dogs. What i think will happen. Mitchell Woods chooses the Bulldogs over the Swans and finally I take a look at how our top 30 is shaping up.
In episode 23 of the All Things Bulldogs Podcast I look at all the latest News. The Daily Telegraph reporting Burton may play Centre. Don't they love feeding on Social media division and narrative! I give my thoughts on this! Sia Taukieaho no longer coming to the Dogs just 24 hours after basically being confirmed by Reed Mahoney in a David Riccio article!! Or was Riccio just filling in the gaps with names that Mahoney never actually mentioned? RFM back at training. I discuss how i think this could play out and Jackson Topine reported on many groups as having played his last game. This is looking likely but we cannot assume anything at the moment. Also go through the Top 30 as it sits and we say goodbye to some good young talent that surprised me.
In episode one of "The New Breed" series, we focus on Journeyman Kurt Mann, who will embark on his 10th season of NRL. How will he fit into The Bulldogs plans, and what will he bring to help the club climb off the canvas and play more competitive Rugby League in 2024!
In episode 22, I discuss the new arrivals at Belmore and go through their stats and my thoughts on how they will help us improve in 2024. Also, I look at RFM saga and top 30. Cheers all
In Episode 21, I discuss a bunch of ways the club can improve on its communication with fans and the opportunities to become a true leader in the online space to help grow the club. With the AGM approaching, I also provide my thoughts and look at the latest signing news and Karl Oloapu injury. I am interested to hear other fans' ideas on how the club can be a leader in all areas on and off the field. Feel free to like and subscribe. cheers
In Ep2 The Masked Punter joins Daine and I to provide our tips for the Mooney Valley Carnival on Friday and Saturday with our best bets. We look at the Cox Plate, Mooney Valley Cup and Manicato plus we dissect the Caulfield and Geelong Cups as we move towards the race that stops a nation! We will compete in a weekly $250 bet challenge to see who gets the honors as the best punter. Feel free to provide your tips or bets for $250 as well. Thank you to those who joined and watched our first episode last week! Like and subscribe.
I discuss my thoughts on Mick Potter moving from assistant to NSW cup head coach.
In episode 20, we look at Josh Curran and what he will add to the Dogs plus the extensions of Jacob Kiraz and Blake Wilson. I also look through the Top 30 with all the potential signings with currently 40 players named that have to be whittled down to 30. I go through the players we have for each position. Will also try to make sense of the ongoing barrage against our champion winger Josh Addo-Carr! Also, take a look at Critters' performance for Samoa at number 6 and the upcoming international Australia vs New Zealand! Finally i discuss Mick Potters move to NSW cup and my thoughts on that. Lots to discuss. Check it out and let me know your thoughts. cheers
In episode 7 I take Danny Wielder to task on his final article regarding Josh Addo-Carr. It is literally the worst example of Journalism I have ever seen... well in the last week anyway. I'll show you why. On same note I show you a great example of the situation written by Fox sports who have done well on this occasion. Firstly, I look at Creepy Crawley's take on the rumored signing of Taukieaho and where I believe he has shown he doesn't watch games he refers to. I also discuss why we don't have any better options. Finally, we look at the Anthem debate again which is ridiculous considering it's be done numerous times. I explain why they are raising it whether you agree or disagree with the subject matter. Thanks to all who support the channel. Much appreciated!!
In Episode 20 I take a deep dive into players off contract for 2024 and 2025. We will see who is still available for 2024 and who will be available come November 30, for the 2025 season, which is just around the corner. No disrespect to current players. Unfortunately with the current environment, these players if not already extended prior to November 30, all become free agents so its a fair discussion to have even this far out. I focus on halves and middles that would add to our team and provide a shortlist of the players I would look at seriously. Obviously would prefer current players to get the job done however its looking likely that we are going to need to strengthen these areas. Interested to see the players you would be interested in as well. Who are the must signings for 2025?
In Episode 18, I discuss the dilemna facing the Dogs on the important decision of who should play fullback for 2024. Stephen Crichton or Blake Taaffe? I provide my reasons for who I would pick and all the positives and negatives of either in the position. Who would you pick? With one of the greatest grand finals of all time, I give my 2 cents worth on how it played out and the lessons that I expect to be learnt from both sides leading into 2024. Additionally go over the internationals and provide the likely teams i expect to start for Austalia, Samoa and New Zealand. With Karl Oluapo being selected in the Samoan squad, I expect him to play and discuss how this may affect the teams picked for next year. Also provide my Ultra Early Ladder predictor for 2024 prior to the draw or top 30s being finalised by most clubs. You will think im crazy for who i have selected to fall way out of the finals contention next year! All this and more on episode 18. Thanks to all for listening. Like and subscribe if you haven't yet. Thank you!!
In episode 17, I review our triumphant victory in Jersey Flegg, provide player ratings and discuss the future. We also look at the latest news with Jason Taylor signing on as an assistant coach and some of the fan sentiment that has come up in both a positive and negative light. Daine and I provide our tips for the Grand Final which may surprise some and I give a breakdown on why I think the Broncos are on the verge of being the equals of the Panthers for years to come. I also discuss the recent media watch episode where many Broncos fans have lost their minds because i challenged that they had a draw from Hell. Thank you to all who continue to support the channel and our beloved Bulldogs!! Goodluck to Penrith and South Sydney on Grand Final day, representing NSW and both with future stars for Canterbury in their ranks!!
It's grand final week, and the 2 best sides promise to show a great game of footy. Unfortunately, Newscorp waited until Grand Final week to try and influence the outcome, which has again exposed their bias! Tye Broncos could win without interference, such is their talent and the way they play. However, Newscorp and The Courier Mail started to try and influence the referee by starting a campaign against first-time GF ref Adam Gee. Highlighting the record since 2020. I put that into complete context. If that wasn't bad enough, now Paul "Creepy" Crawley has decided to focus on an illegal tactic used to protect the kicker on play 5. A tactic used by every team in the competition, including The Broncos. I show footage of Broncos players changing their line to protect their kicker in the last 3 games they played. All of this is after the Fox Lab predictor told everyone their beloved Broncos had the toughest draw in 2023. I go through the draw, and it's the best draw I have ever seen for a team in the NRL era. Regardless of this campaign, Broncos are a great side with their aura back. The Newscorp interference needs to stop! Check out the episode. It's pretty crazy tactics from an organisation that owns the Broncos!

In episode 16 I look at our team to face the Roosters in the Jersey Flegg grand final, giving you some insight in what to expect from our talented youngsters. Don't forget to tune in 1pm Sunday on Facebook where the NSWRL page will stream it live. (be careful to find the correct free stream as many scam sites will look legit and try to get you to pay for it and steal your details) While jumping the gun, I also have a crack at naming my best 17 Bulldogs for 2024 based on current players and recruits. Additionally, I say thank you to some departing players and discuss a few others currently contracted or off contract that look like they too may not be featuring in the blue and white next year. Finally give my thoughts and preview of the preliminary finals to see who plays in the decider the following Sunday. Thank you all for your continued support.
In episode 1 of The New Breed series, i look at the new recruits of 2022 and 2023 that will lead us into 2024 and beyond. These recruits were the start of our fightback. I analyse their contribution so far and how I think they will contribute to improved performances in 2024 and beyond. They form the core or nucleus of our squad. Other episodes to come will focus on new recruits, those on the fringe of success and future stars from our Bull Pups. On this episode we focus on Matt Burton, The Fox, Villiame Kikau, Reed Mahoney, Max King, Jacob Preston, Jacob Kiraz and Ryan Sutton. Check it out and keen to hear your thoughts.
This week I discuss the departure of Paul Alamoti and why this is great for him and for our club! Congrats to our Jersey Flegg Boys who are through to the Grand Final in 2 weeks time. In NRL Media watch episode 6, i also raise questions about Braith Anasta in his appraisal of the Canberra Halves. Is he using his role in the media to benefit his role as a player manager? While i have often questioned this and have alot of respect for Braith as a Dogs Legend, I never thought i would see such hypocrisy displayed by him in his evaluation of two games of footy. I discuss why I think it's questionable and should be avoided. Thank you to all who continue to support the channel and grow it! Much appreciated.
In episode 14 I take a look at the latest news including confirmed departures and the rumor mill around signings. We look at Jake Averillo and his development in 2023 prior to leaving. Hopefully we aren't lamenting The one who got away......again!! Did we see a peak into the future with a try we scored down our left edge? I analyze that try and what was different about it to what we have been used to in recent years. Finally, I provide my basic analysis of Ciraldo's performance in 2023, looking at the positives, failures and opportunities. I give my rating of his overall performance. Thanks to everyone for their contribution and feel free to like and subscribe to the channel.
In episode 5, I discuss the ongoing vendetta of Buzz Rothfield against the club and Gus Gould. In his search for validation of his own lies, he knowingly puts out comments from brief Bulldog Andrew Davey, which questioned Cameron Ciraldo as a coach. Buzz has been around. He knows why this was a real bad move for Andrew Davey. I explain why. I discuss this from another angle and explain why Buzz continues to try and lead all roads back to Gus Gould and Belmore. Including his inappropriate lies tying all players leaving or potentially leaving Canterbury-Bankstown to the leaked reports of players being unhappy for training schedules etc. Buzz has to be very careful as he is also linking stories of mental health to responses made about other questions. Its the constant misrepresentation and melding of these stories which if anything is the main protagonist in assisting in poor mental health of players. I also discuss emergence of rival ticket who are of course feeding buzz stories. Check it out and remember, mental health and feelings are for the individual. They are valid and should be supported no matter what. Disagreement of their opinion or criticism of their performance isn't attacking their mental health. Their own assessments are likely to have a way worse effect. Usually beating themselves up more than any coach, trainer or fan could. Buzz and others focussing on naming players is putting them in a negative light. It's hurting their careers and potentially their mental health. Its united Canterbury fans and all ex players are on same page. He should know better! Check out the podcast.
In analysing the current situation, it's important to see the clubs use of media for the greater good that unfortunately scapegoats players. I have pictured the player. it's no secret now. I have huge admiration for this guy and support him and the Club. You can support both! My aim is to provide consideration that the current situation doesn't need fans to blame players or contribute to mental anguish, while at same time understanding why the club is taking necessary steps due to the past to ensure we protect the future. I provide a full description of the walkout of a loved clubman and potential future star and give my thoughts as to why the isolated incident isn't the only reason or factor in this. We can look at a situation and support the clubs stance while also supporting the players who didn't stand a chance in the cleanout. Please check out the episode. It's a tough situation for all.
Daine rejoins the podcast to discuss Canterbury and our thoughts on the upcoming game including team changes and the current media spotlight. We have a look at some of the big games coming up and the correlation between clubs that have come from a similar spot as the Dogs in recent years such as Souths when they reentered comp and Newcastle after Bennett's short stint. Also recap the medias obsession with Canterbury and Gus Gould and how that is playing out at the moment. Just finished before the recent news of a player leaving the club due to a punishment he got for being late. Would we care if we were winning? Probably not. Thanks to everyone for tuning in. Like and Subscribe and feel free to comment on YouTube.
In Episode 12, I discuss our opportunity to defeat a vulnerable Manly who are finally out of Finals contention. I also look at the game against Canberra and where we went right and wrong. Additionally i discuss the plight of the NSW cup team. The flag bearers over recent years who are likely to miss the finals now. Where is Jackson Topine who is a mainstay of the NSW cup team and a huge clubman for Canterbury. Does anyone know?
NRL360 have dropped to greater lows by choosing to announce rumors about the Rabbits club having issues in the playing group, just days after they lost Kyle Turner at the young age of 31. Seemingly forgetting their abuse and mockery of Gus Gould 2 weeks earlier, they thought it was perfect timing to shame Latrell Mitchell. While he and the team played poorly, was it respectful of Braith and Buzz to announce rumours of club and player disharmony, considering Souths just lost Kyle only 3 days earlier? I give my thoughts on the sudden backflip regarding Latrell and provide my insight into how they get the majority of their information to feed the 24-hour news cycle. Always remember to check on your mates. cheers.
On episode 11, Daine and I discuss the plan at Belmore. What is it! TPJ retires, so who is available? We also discuss the Knights game. What happened out there? And preview the upcoming games for both The Dogs and The Knights as we look to finals that won't feature our boys. Love to hear your thoughts and please like and subscribe. Audio should be much better this episode.
On episode 10, Daine rejoins the podcast to preview our big clash vs The Knights. Newcastle with 5 wins on the Trot and looking every much a finals contender may have people assuming that our poor season will continue. We discuss the new look Dogs side and how a team with double the experience to the side that got booed off ANZ stadium will look to make amends for that embarrassing defeat. We also discuss the complete log jam of sides and how volatile the run to the finals will be. Feel free to check out the show. Like and subscribe if you wish.
For the last 4 weeks, NRL360 and Newscorp have been crossing the line in their commentary of the opinion of Phil Gould. As he is a paid expert on a rival broadcaster, Newscorp are deliberately associating Goulds' opinion on all areas of the game with his job at The Bulldogs. They are stirring up trouble and ensuring clubs he talks about ( especially those clubs owned by Newscorp, i.e., The Broncos) are getting his message. I respond to the misrepresentation of comments made in response to Gould, which try to compare the Dogs rebuild with teams a decade more advanced in their current state. I also look at the pathetic promotion of Super Saturday, which appeared to go hand in hand with attacking Goulds comments on Latrell Mitchell. Considering News had many headlines saying Latrell went missing in last years prelim, it seems overly hypocritical. Check it out, and feel free to like and subscribe. Go The Dogs!
The Bulldogs continue to reshape their roster and have purchased a number of recruits with the additional salary cap freed after the sacrifices made to fix the cap between 2017 and 2021. I list the best 5, in my opinion, on what they have delivered for our club since joining from 2022. Check it out and let me know your top 5. Like and subscribe if you wish.
This week from my new studio, I look at Gus's rebuild since he arrived and try to make sense of the 2023 season. Includes a wrap of our 1 point thriller over The Dolphins. I also take a look at the signings and go over what i believe to be the wins and losses so far with recruitment as Gus is making it pretty clear what the prerequisites are to be a Bulldog in 2024 and beyond. Please like and subscribe. I am keen to hear your thoughts as usual.
It's important as fans that we hold the media to account and ensure there is balance. In episode 1 of "NRL Media Watch," i explain why Clint Newton is doing his job. When everyone in the room is pointing their finger and calling for an execution, be rest assured it's because they are flexing their muscle and trying to manipulate both the fans and players into turning on the representative. James Hooper especially has overstepped the mark, and it's not on. It's a unique situation with players representing as both, the employees and the product itself. So, the only safe target for the media is Clint Newton. I explain why they are doing this, and it's a play that has occurred for decades in politics and now sport. After hearing my perspective, feel free to provide your opinion. Like and subscribe if you enjoy.
Daine and I discuss the upcoming Dolphins game and look at our new signing Liam Knight as well as some whispers of more recruits coming our way. Dogfathers whereabouts are revealed. Also provide thoughts on last weeks efforts verse The Panthers and some rumblings about player unrest. You can watch on youtube or listen on Spotify, Apple and Amazon. Feel free to like and subscribe.
Buzz Rothfield is at it again. After being called a liar by Gus, he inexplicably throws out the Salary Cap Cheater tag in a typical, emotional response to Gus Gould and the Bulldogs on NRL360 last Tuesday 11 July. I feel it's important to call Buzz out here for a dispicable act that wasn't called for yet he seems to get away with it. No one will stop the media but it's important to call out the truth from the lies and highlight all the recent efforts from Buzz and some journos on NRL 360 who continually try to attack our Bulldogs with poorly timed and lazy journalism. Feel free to like and subscribe to the page. Links to the major podcasts will be included in the youtube comments.
This week, Daine joins me to discuss Josh Reynolds' day in our loss to the Broncos. We give our predictions for the final 8. Preview the upcoming game verse the Panthers, including the possible return of Villiame Kikau and analyse the Bulldogs run home. Also has some footage of Josh Reynolds I took at the end of the NSW cup game. The podcast will soon be available on Apple , Spotify, and other services. Please like and subscribe if you wish, and thank you to all who have contributed so far!
This week on the podcast, I discuss the impact of Sexton and our debutants in the victory over Souths. Also, talk about team tuesday announcements and how we shape up against the broncos. Buzz Rothfield joins the podcast, and you might hear from the Dogfather as well. Finally, I give a quick tribute to Josh Reynolds and discuss some of my memories of him. Thank you to all for your support, and please feel free to like and subscribe.
It's an important podcast this week as we not only break down the disappointment of Sundays 66 Nil loss, we discuss the predicament of one of our supporters, Anthony Mackenzie who is suffering from terminal cancer and lives on the street. Gofundme link in the comments. Thanks to the club, who has also answered his call. Daine joins me again to discuss the preview of the Rabbits game and all the team changes. We also discuss the Origin 3 Blues lineup, and The Dogfather is back from his trip to the Goldcoast. Please give your thoughts in comments and, like, subscribe if you wish. Thanks so much
