If you're one of the many homeowners who can't park a car in their garage, you're not alone—and you're definitely not without hope. In this episode of Clutter Free Academy, Kathi Lipp sits down with returning guest Tenneil Register, who brings a unique perspective to garage organization from her experience managing inventory for an actual retail store. Why the Garage Is So Hard to TameThe garage tends to become a catch-all space because it's undefined. It's where things go when company is coming, when seasons change, or when we simply don't know what else to do with something. Unlike the rest of your home, there's no "garage inspector" coming to motivate a cleanup—so clutter piles up without any natural deadline.A Professional Approach to Home StorageTenneil shares hard-won lessons from running a retail business, including how to think about garage contents in categories: seasonal items, repair tools, and backup supplies. This simple framework helps create logical zones that make finding (and putting away) items so much easier. What "Done" Really Looks LikeForget Pinterest-perfect matching bins. A well-organized garage is one where anyone can walk in and find what they need. The secret? Clear containers so you can see what's inside, simple labels (even handwritten ones count!), and contained categories that others can understand without explanation.Key TakeawaysUse clear containers – If it's opaque, there's always the possibility the thing you're looking for might be in that box. Clear bins let you scan and move on.Label everything – A 30-second scribble with a marker can completely change someone else's ability to use the space, including future you.Work in small time chunks – The "big Saturday cleanout" leaves you too exhausted to actually organize. Small sessions are more sustainable and effective.Create a "maybe" zone – Tape out a spot for items you can't decide on. By the end of your organizing session, you'll often be tired enough to let go of some maybes.Make it a choice, not a consequence – Deciding intentionally that you need storage more than parking feels completely different than living with the result of accumulated mess.Even improving your garage by just 20% this season will make a huge difference every time you go out there looking for something. Progress, not perfection, is the goal.

Super Round heads to the brand-new Te Kaha Stadium in Christchurch… and what a way to christen it. A full weekend of footy, packed stands, cracking atmosphere, and a proper festival feel — the kind of rugby showcase Super Rugby dreams about. The stadium? Unreal. The crowds? Even better. The results? Well… depends which side of the Tasman you're sitting on. The Kiwi teams absolutely ran the table. The Crusaders kicked things off by beating Waratahs, sending the Christchurch faithful home very happy in game one. The Blues nearly gave their fans heart failure but somehow scraped past the Queensland Reds in full squeaky-bum, extra-time chaos — thanks in part to a late penalty from Fraser McReight that went the wrong way. The Highlanders got the job done over Moana Pasifika, while the Chiefs handled the Fijian Drua. And the Hurricanes? Fehi Fineanganofo, WHAT A FREAK, too bad he's going to Newxastle. All in all — an absolute belter of a weekend, unless you're Australian… in which case, maybe skip this one. We crack a couple of beers, break down the action, butcher a few names, and talk a healthy amount of nonsense along the way. Grab a beer and enjoy

Today's episode has a content warning for discussion of suicide. Have you ever seen pictures or video of a hoarder house, and just wondered, what is going on? I mean, everyone has a different tolerance level for clutter. But hoarding is not just an issue of having a messy living environment. It's actually classified as a distinct mental illness. The American Psychiatric Association says hoarding is characterized by a persistent, intense inability to discard possessions – leading to significant clutter, distress, and impairment in daily living. My guest for this episode is one of my favorite people – my friend Margy. We've known each other for years through the podcast industry, and she actually told this story originally here on What Was That Like back in 2022. Lots of things have happened with Margy since then, so stick around til the end for an update from her. Margy was an adult when her dad died. She came back home and saw the job that had to be done, and she channeled her grief into energy. And what seemed like an impossible challenge didn't defeat her – rather, it made her unstoppable. What do you do when your parents have 40 years of stuff in a 4,000 square foot house and they need to move to a 1,200 square foot assisted living apartment? Most families are paralyzed by this question—and Ernise Beckel has spent her career solving it.Ernise is a registered nurse with 20 years of experience who kept walking into seniors' homes and seeing the same problem: people discharged from hospitals into houses filled with clutter, creating fall hazards and overwhelming situations that nobody was addressing. Now she co-owns Caring Transitions of Eden Prairie with her mom, serving families throughout Carver County and the southwest metro. In this conversation, we get into the actual mechanics of how this works:THE PROCESS• Free consultation: 30-60 minutes, includes walkthrough and density assessment• They measure the new space and tell you exactly what will fit• SOD method: Sort, Organize, Donate, Dispose• They photograph everything and recreate familiar arrangements in the new homeWHERE THE STUFF GOES• CT Bids online auction platform reaches 300,000+ registered shoppers nationwide• About 75% of household items can be sold• Revenue split: 65% to homeowner, 35% to Caring Transitions• Items ship nationwide—not limited to local buyers like estate salesTIMELINE & PRICING• Full liquidation (selling everything): 3-4 weeks• Cleanout only (donate/dispose): approximately 1 week• Cost: $3-5 per square foot depending on density• Recommended lead time: call at least one month before you need completionWHY IT'S DIFFERENT FROM ESTATE SALES• No strangers walking through your house• No cars parked on curbs (HOA friendly)• Online bidding reaches national market• They handle ALL remaining items—nothing left behind• Items are shipped to buyers, not picked up on-siteTHE EMOTIONAL SIDEErnise talks about why she insists on meeting mom (not just the adult children), how to handle situations when the senior doesn't want to move, and why patience is essential. Recipes4Survival, The Cooking Podcast! Episodic cooking, Mindful Meals, & Sustainable Living Tips
HI my friends! This week I'm sharing a fast, flavorful farro salad for the win born after I cleaned out my pantry cabinet. I share why this ancient grain makes a smart base for a mindful, sustainable meal. Learn what farro is, it's nutritional benefits and the simple steps to make a hearty, flavorful, nutritious meal with farro and simple basic staples in a fast and flexible method. Farro is an ancient wheat with a nutty flavor and satisfying chew. High in fiber and protein that keep you full to minerals like magnesium, zinc, and iron that support heart health and immunity and it's few caveats - it is not acceptable for anyone that's gluten intolerant.Farro is cooked in boiling salted water for roughly 30 minutes. No fussy ratios. While the farro cooked I whipped up a bold, balanced dressing in the bowl I'd serve the farro in . A teaspoon of Grey Poupon, Dijon mustard - an absolute basic staple for me, brings structure and body to the dressing when whisked with apple cider vinegar, and a splash of mirin brightens the mixture to help with the emulsification when whisking the drizzled olive oil in. While the grains are still warm, I folded in fresh, sliced scallions then layered in pickled radish and cucumbers, and topped this off with juicy balsamic marinated grape tomatoes for color and contrast. The result is a satisfying salad that allows for endless swaps based on what you have on hand.In summary, what you'll learn in this episode:• What farro is and it's nutritional benefits • Step-by-step farro cooking method• Mustard–mirin–cider vinaigrette technique• Warm toss with scallions, pickled veg, and tomatoesI really hope you'll try this. Get some farro. High in protein, vitamins and minerals it's one of the best things you can eat. It takes no time to make a fabulous nutritious meal and I will do anything to help you with the recipe. If you're focused on mindful meals, sustainable living, and real-world kitchen wins, this episode Delivers. You'll learn a repeatable template for grain salads, ideas for protein add-ins, and tips to reduce waste using pantry items you already own. Press play to cook along with me. If you follow me on LinkedIn, you've probably seen some of my weekly musings on the state of the private equity industry. One post from earlier this year struck a particular nerve. Titled “It's Time to Clean Out the PE Attic,” it began with this observation: “There's a musty corner in every LP's private equity portfolio—a collection of tail-end buyout funds that quietly aged past their prime.” That post went somewhat viral nearly five months ago, and the question I'd ask today is whether the attic has gotten any cleaner.Today on Dry Powder, we'll strip away the emotions around tariffs and examine the underlying market data. I'll also discuss whether 2026 could mark a return to exits and dealmaking at scale.
