Brew Pod: Between the Lines

The Milwaukee Brewers collected yet another series victory at home against the Chicago Cubs, while mashing two more grand slams over the weekend. The Brewers have now hit a whopping 5 grand slams in 8 games, which is the second time in major league history behind the San Diego Padres who reached that feat in 2020. Brewers also saw the starting pitching throw three gems during the series, coming from Rea, Myers, and fastball Freddy.  Brewers welcome Garrett Mitchell back to the major league roster after successfully avoiding injury during his latest Triple-A rehab assignment. Tyler Black gets sent back down to Triple-A to make room for Mitchell on the MLB roster.  Brewers head west to face the Colorado Rockies for a 4-game set before heading to LA to face a top tier team in the Dodgers.   

The Milwaukee Brewers capped off an exciting start to the homestand against the Texas Rangers with a game winning walk-off single from Andruw Monasterio. All three games of this series resulted in comeback victories from the Brewers, who improve to 25-12 when playing at home. To add on, Brewers crushed two grand-slams during this series to provide some additional excitement.  On Tuesday, the Brewers made an unexpected move when acquiring former Cy Young LHP Dallas Keuchel from the Seattle Mariners Triple-A roster. Although Keuchel did not have great success in his Brewers debut, I believe this move is one that is worth trying.  Brewers have an off day tomorrow before hosting the Cubs for the final time this season. The Brewers finished up a tough trip to San Diego with a victory after Tobias Myers advanced to 4-0 with a 0.71 ERA in the month of June. The big question is...who on the current roster will Garrett Mitchell replace. The Brewers get yet another fantastic start from Tobias Myers, who is posting a 3-0 record with a 0.44 ERA in his last three starts.  Brewers call on Freddy Peralta in the rubber match of the series as the Brewers eye a 4th consecutive series victory. Will Freddy be able to bounce back after his recent struggles? Check in to the game to find out...

After another series full of nail-biting ballgames, the Brewers came out on top to steal 2 of 3 from the Cincinnati Reds. With the offense continuing to struggle hitting with runners in scoring position, the Brewers have had to find other ways to squeak out these close victories. With help from Blake Perkins, Brice Turang, Sal Frelick and the remainder of the Brewers league-leading defense, they are finding ways to keep opposing teams off the board. The Brewers retain a surprising 6.5 game lead over the remainder of the NL central as we approach the halfway point of the season in a couple of weeks.  Brewers will begin a trip to the west coast to face off with the Los Angeles Angels prior to heading to San Diego to face Manny Machado and the Padres. 

The Milwaukee Brewers continue their scorching hot play at home in front of the Milwaukee faithful after a series victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. The Milwaukee Brewers finish off their most impressive homestand of the season after sweeping the Chicago White Sox in a three-game set. Check out this episode to hear about a couple of the players who earned NL awards and for a team that continues to impress! Pat Murphy and the Brewers staff continue to hold each player accountable and instill energy within the dugout. Brewers move on to Philadelphia to face Bryce Harper and the NL leading Phillies. 

The Brewers disrupt Craig Counsell's homecoming after stealing 3 out of 4 against the division-rival Chicago Cubs. At roughly a third of the way through the season, the Brewers enjoy a five-game lead in the NL Central. The week was led by great starting pitching, outstanding offense, and some huge games from some key players. Brewers will look to stay hot as they face the league's lowest 15-42 record Chicago White Sox. 

The Milwaukee Brewers cap off the road trip with a series victory against the Boston Red Sox. The much awaited return of Craig Counsell to Milwaukee took place in front of a sold out crowd on Memorial Day. To say the least, the crowd and fanbase was disapproving of the former manager's decision to leave for the division-rival Chicago Cubs. Check out this episode to get a perspective of what took place in the series opener against the Chicago Cubs, and a much improved pitching performance over the last week. Brewers will continue the four-game set against the Chicago Cubs before hosting the south-side Chicago White Sox over the weekend. 

The Brewers have had a less than ideal start to the road trip, going a combined 2-4 against the Houston Astros and Miami Marlins. Joe Ross lands on the injured list with a low-back strain, forcing the Brewers management to dig deeper into their farm system. After a tough loss on Friday, the Brewers bounce back with an impressive victory on Saturday in Houston. William Contreras wins a 13-pitch at-bat against future hall-of-famer Justin Verlander with a 3-run blast to lead the Brewers to  victory. The Milwaukee Brewers finished off there best homestand of the season with a 10-2 victory which saw 5 different Brewers hit home runs. The Brewers ended the homestand with a 5-2 record and improved to a 1.5 game lead in the NL Central. After a rough ending to the road trip, the Brewers get the homestand started out right with a 7-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. The Brewers offense mustered 3 home runs off of dominant pitcher Sonny Gray, including a solid start from Tobias Myers. Christian Yelich returns after his extended stint on the injured list, and instantly makes an impact. Thanks to Willy Adames, the Brewers gather a significant win in exhilarating fashion. With the Brewers down two, down the their last out, Willy Adames hits a go-ahead three-run blast to put the Brewers on top. Brewers look to gather a series victory in the rubber match against the Kansas City Royals later today. 

The Milwaukee Brewers mounted a great comeback victory in the first game of the series, after scoring three in the 8th that included the game-tying and go-ahead runs. The Brewers go on to lose the final two games in the series, but remain tied for first place in the NL Central. In this episode we discuss how the Brewers offense remains one of the best in baseball to start the year, which has been uncharted territory in the last several seasons. The Brewers look to bounce back as they complete the road trip against the Kansas City Royals, before heading home to host the Cardinals and Pirates in some more division-rival matchups. 

The Milwaukee Brewers win the rubber match in the series 7-1 to finish out the homestand at .500. Prior to the game, suspensions for Tuesday night's brawl were handed out to three Brewers players. Brewers return back home this weekend to begin a homestand that will feature some interleague play in the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays.  

The Milwaukee Brewers lose their second straight game to the Pittsburgh Pirates, dropping the first two games in this 4-game road series. Tobias Myers looks excellent in his Major League debut but is unfortunately credited with a loss. Brewers offense continues their struggles against left-handed pitching and overall struggles in the recent games. The Milwaukee Brewers lose the opening game in a 4-game series to the Pittsburgh Pirates. More importantly, the Brewers lose another starting pitcher to the injury bug and have a freak accident take place on the field.
