Saturday night… the time when magic feels real and your dreams are in your grasp. For me, it was like any other day; jon, sleep, gaming, the works. That is, until dinner. You see, my dad loves to make tacos. We're the kind of family where "Taco Tuesday" isn't just a white person day; it's a lifestyle. A religion! Anyways, just like every other day that week, we were having tacos. After a particularly busy day at work, I was absolutely famished. Customers were angry, shelves constantly needed to be stocked; it's a surprise I didn't just quit right then and there. Knowing tacos were on the other end definitely helped me get through the day, that's for sure. As I turned the corner to my street, I could see the neon taco sign start to light up in my yard (my father had it installed the other month, his taco frenzy reaching a peak). My mouth watering, I could feel my foot press harder on the gas to get home faster. I just couldn't wait! Running in the door, I could see my family just starting to eat. I ripped off my shoes, tossed the keys god knows where (thankfully I have my tile app so I could find them later), and sprinted full force to the table. "Hey, Braydon," my dad said, his plate full to the brim with tacos, "I'd ask you how your day was but I'm just about to eat some tacos. Remind me to ask you later! Love you, son." With those words, the nightly ritual began. After my father took the first bite, the rest of us began to dress our tacos with the toppings we liked. For me? Ketchup. Pure, sweet ketchup. The more the red sauce fell onto the meat in the crispy tortilla shell, the happier I was. I'll spare you the details of dinner, but just know it was fantastic. Just as I was finishing, my phone alarm went off. "Podcast time!" It said, over and over. Oh man! In my taco frenzy, I had nearly forgotten! I cleared my dish and started heading to my computer, but on the way, I could feel my stomach groaning. Maybe 11 tacos wasn't the right idea just before a recording. My intestines twisted and turned, the tacos irritating the delicate tissues. Oh no. I messaged the boys, 'Start without me, lads. I'll be a bit. The porcelain throne awaits it's king'. "I can't breathe." On May 25, 2020, George Floyd was murdered in Minneapolis. His neck was knelt on for 7 minutes and 46 seconds (although early reports indicated 8 minutes 46 seconds, it was later adjusted). His death resulted in worldwide protests which are ongoing to this day. Here at Cool Breeze, we believe that Black Lives Matter and are worth fighting for.
