Peter Harris, perhaps better known as ‘The Major, is fondly remembered as a controversial late night radio talk show host, originally on CBC and later Touch AM. Peter was a bookie, in Canton and came into contact with some of those who went on to launch CBC Radio, at the nearby Chapter Arts Centre. Adopting the nickname of ‘The Major', he was originally a radio, horse racing tipster. However, largely due to his love of music and gift of the gab, he soon became involved as a radio presenter. He subsequently became friendly with the then, up and coming, American musician, Bruce Springsteen. Later in his career he returned to horse racing, working as a pundit for radio and TV. Peter now lives in Cornwall and is happily retired but still has a fund of stories and a great way of telling them...
