Johnny Mac records a catch-up episode of Daily Comedy News from a street corner on Edinburgh's Royal Mile after visiting Edinburgh Castle and attending the Podcast Show London. He recaps Stephen Colbert hosting the final episode of The Late Show from the Ed Sullivan Theater, sharing Colbert's remarks about doing over 1,800 shows, calling it “The Joy Machine,” reflecting on “feeling the news,” and joking about show history and a “first drafts” bit; the final guest was Sir Paul McCartney. Johnny also covers a brewing comedy controversy: Chelsea Handler criticized Shane Gillis and Tony Hinchcliffe's roast material on Deon Cole's podcast, calling it gross, racist, sexist, and bigoted, citing lynching and jokes about Sheryl Underwood's late husband; Gillis responded online and plugged a Philadelphia stadium show, and Underwood said some jokes went too far.00:18 Colbert Final Show Tribute02:02 Ed Sullivan Farewell Bits03:36 Final Guest Paul McCartney04:23 Shane Gillis Chelsea Handler Roast Drama05:32 Royal Mile Travel Wrap Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/daily-comedy-news-with-johnny-mac-a-daily-briefing-on-comedians-and-the-comedy-industry--4522158/support.Daily Comedy News is the number one comedy news podcast, delivering daily coverage of standup comedy, late night television, comedy specials, tours, and the business of comedy.COMEDY SURVIVOR in the facebook group.Contact John at John@thesharkdeck dot com For Uninterrupted Listening, use the Apple Podcast App and click the banner that says Uninterrupted Listening. $4.99/month John's Substack about media is free. This is the animal sanctuary mentioned in the February 10 episode.

This week, while Maria is on vacation, Dave Bittner and Joe Carrigan are joined by Michele Kellerman as they discuss the latest in social engineering scams, phishing schemes, and criminal exploits that are making headlines. We start with some follow up: a quick shoutout to Blood Cancer United and then we get into a listener “Chicken Chat” from Sue about handling an aggressive rooster. Joe's got the story of how former Luther Davis allegedly teamed up with a partner to impersonate NFL players using fake companies, documents, and disguises to secure nearly $20 million in fraudulent loans—charges they are now expected to plead guilty to. Michele's story is on how scammers are targeting families of recently arrested individuals by posing as officials who promise quick releases in exchange for hard-to-trace payments, prompting warnings from law enforcement—including changes like taking jail rosters offline—to cut off these schemes. Joe's got the story on how Amazon is leaning heavily on AI, continuous monitoring, and global enforcement partnerships to proactively block fraud, counterfeit goods, and scams—often before customers or brands ever spot them. Since 2003, Ringo Starr has been producing an incredibly prolific run of releases: albums and EPs, plus live recordings. With him on this journey of multiple producers and supporting musicians has been engineer Bruce Sugar, the one constant. Bruce comes with stories and observations about working with the world's most beloved drummer, including alongside Sir Paul McCartney in the studio (including an upcoming duet), as well as on the “last Beatles song, “Now and Then.” It's a delightful dose of positivity (as well as peace and love) to hear what Bruce has to say, including work on the upcoming Long, Long Road. Since age 17, Sir Paul McCartney has had an amazing 66 year career in the music industry – and for decades often at the top of the Billboard charts. And even at age 83 today, he is still turning out new music, with a new album out this May. But the creator of dozens of the world's most cherished rock songs and love ballads has endured a turbulent and sometimes painful life. We dive deep into his rollercoaster existence with very few real-world silly love songs in his post-Beatles life. We are joined by frequent guest, John Hoekstra, professional music composer and producer, for expert commentary. We are inspired by a recent award-winning documentary about Paul's life after the Beatles, called “Man On the Run” (on Prime). Join us to learn about the Paul McCartney you probably don't know. In this engaging conversation, Bernard Fritsch, a German-born inventor and tech entrepreneur, shares insights on the rapid evolution of AI, its potential risks, and the importance of responsible development. The discussion covers AI's impact on democracy, privacy, security, and the future of human-AI interaction, emphasizing the need for global cooperation and ethical guidelines.Bernhard E. Fritsch is the German American inventor whose 32 U.S. patents hard wired how culture moves across screens, from single track downloads to global streaming and the creator economy. In the late 1990s he did not “disrupt” the record store; he rebuilt it in software. His MCY “digital warehouse” architecture showed, click by click, how a fan could search by artist or genre, preview tracks, drop them into a basket, pay online, trigger key based DRM, and route royalties automatically-years before Apple iTunes licensed Fritsch's patent and long before streaming became a trillion click habit aka Spotify, Youtube and Netflix. Two core patents, codified this full stack for web music distribution, secure delivery, and integrated royalty accounting, a framework later mirrored by thousands of digital retailers and platforms worldwide in a market now worth tens of billions of dollars in annual recorded music revenue. His rails also carried live performance into the broadband era: in 1999, Fritsch's platform powered the MCY cybercast of Sir Paul McCartney's Cavern Club concert, reaching an estimated 75 million viewers and setting a record for online music broadcasts at the time. Fritsch then turned the same precision on messaging and social data, allowing artists and brands inject music, video, and campaigns into outbound messages, track opens, plays, and clicks, and optimize in near real time. His AIMS vision is anchored in the “Understanding social media user behavior” family (patents granted in 2025) which uses contextual search and neural networks to scan third party social networks, identify true influencers and high affinity fans by text and image signals, and then orchestrate targeted, automated interactions.https://www.linkedin.com/in/bernhard-fritsch-988a893/https://special-ops.uk/i3-ops/
For this episode we're joined by not one but two very special guests to talk about one of the great music cities. Penny Kiley is the former pop columnist for the Liverpool Echo, contributed regularly to Melody Maker and has just published the superb memoir Atypical Girl. Paul Du Noyer, meanwhile, wrote beautifully for the NME in its glory years and edited both Q and MOJO; he is also the author of 2002's exceptional Liverpool: Wondrous Place. We ask our guests about everything from the Beatles to Frankie Goes to Hollywood via Eric's, the Real Thing and the "crucial three" of Pete Wylie, Julian Cope and Ian McCulloch. We also hear riveting clips from Simon Garfield's 1999 audio interview with (Sir) Paul McCartney. After paying tribute to NME legend Keith Altham, Mark quotes from interviews with Miami soul star Betty Wright (1977) and Southern country-rocker Charlie Daniels (1979). Finally, Jasper rounds things off with his thoughts on Terris – apparently "the best new band in Britain" (2000). Many thanks to special guests Penny Kiley and Paul Du Noyer. You can find Penny's music writing on her Substack at pennykiley.substack.com; Atypical Girl is published by Polygon and available from all good bookshops. Find Paul's writing and details of his books online at pauldunoyer.com. You ever notice in podcast interviews, everyone's all comfortable? There's soft chairs, bottled water. The lighting that says you are important. Everybody's relaxed. Everybody's polished, and everything's lying just a tad or even more than a tad about who they are. Then there's Kevin Nealon. Kevin Nealon has done more episodes of Hiking show than Jason and Peter have of Really? no, Really?. But it's always a great time when Kevin stops to tell us stories about hiking with folks like Matthew Modine, Weird Al Yankovich and Rob Lowe. Kevin will also fill us in on his stories about working on Saturday Night Live and remind us what happened with him being replaced by Norm Macdonald on Weekend Update. He also has a great story about running into Sir Paul McCartney at the SNL 50th Anniversary party with Conan O'Brien. While he's here, Kevin will also explain how he went from stand up to writing sketches to becoming an actor. Not just on SNL but also after the show when he would go on to star on Showtime's Weeds. Kevin will also talk about his relationship with the legendary Gary Shandling. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
It is difficult for me to characterize what Scott, Elizabeth, and myself discussed on the latest LGM podcast, better known as “the tightest 117 minutes in the history of podcasting.” Our writ was to discuss the latest Paranoid Style album, “Known Associates,” as well as to talk about Elizabeth’s contribution of liner notes to The Replacements’ Let it Be: Deluxe Edition and we did indeed discuss these things, but there were digressions. Some questions that emerged and re-emerged over the course of the pod: What is your theory of album sequencing, in terms of where you put the best song and where you put the hardest song? Is this album the Paranoid Style’s entry into the Yacht Rock genre? Does the presence of a saxophone necessarily imply Yacht Rock, or is some sort of boat reference also required? Is Van Halen Yacht Rock? Let’s phone a friend. Do you have strong feelings about the remastering of Tim? Elizabeth would like to hear from you. Are you offended by aspersions against Soul Asylum? Did Rod Stewart sell out? Is selling out even bad? How does Donald Trump feel about Kiss? What’s the deal with authenticity? What would say to Prince if he were using the urinal next to you? What would you say to Jon Langford? Would you like to hear a funny story about Keith Richards and drugs? Or one about Wussy? Did SEK go on a bender with Keith Richards? Did RFK Jr.? What will it be like the day that Sir Paul McCartney leaves us? A bunch of songs about Canadian songwriters, where Gordon Lightfoot is asked to be ranked by some metric? Is Gordon Lightfoot Yacht Rock? Is any expression of admiration for the Drive By Truckers excessive? The answer is no. Are the DBTs Yacht Rock? What is the demographic profile of an LGM podcast listener? Would we mind more of Elizabeth’s review of rock n’ roll books? Could Elizabeth be lured to Lexington for the Keeneland Spring Meet? Could this podcast have been more effectively edited for content and coherence? Possibly. Transcript is here. I had the most wonderful conversation with multi-award-winning musician, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, composer, presenter and DJ, Nitin Sawhney. His musicianship and compositions embrace the entire universe of music from jazz to flamenco to world to electronica. He has written, performed and played with the likes of The London Symphony Orchestra, Sir Paul McCartney and Sting. The fruits of his labours range from writing solo albums, collaborating with musical royalty to writing scores for Hollywood blockbuster films. He's been awarded a CBE for his services to music. In fact, he has received so many awards and accolades, Wikipedia has had to list them by year! He was also part of a comedy duo and all this came after training as a lawyer and an accountant. This conversation touches on many areas of his career and life, the highs, the lows and the extraordinary. Welcome to episode 123 of The Journey Is the Reward! We're back to our regularly scheduled programming—or, as we like to call it, our regularly scheduled flight plan—as we track Brian's recent trip to the frigid but fabulous state of Minnesota. His itinerary was packed: he attended an unforgettable concert by the legendary Sir Paul McCartney and spent time performing essential Uncle Duties with his niece in St. Paul. But first, let's check the cargo hold for some listener mail!· Listener Sharon wrote in, asking us to rewind the tape and explain how we got into this crazy, sometimes turbulent podcasting business.· Chef Kathy sent in an audio file where she was in utter amazement that Brian, somehow, someway, has never heard of Dubai chocolate. (We'll address this serious gap in his culinary education.)· And Listener Lu is back with a pressing question about United's new flights to Europe, specifically asking if we would personally dare to fly across the pond in a single-aisle 737.For the main event, Micah asks Brian about his flights to Minneapolis, which, let's just say, involved a couple of unexpected "holding patterns" (a.k.a., delays) with stops in Denver. Tune in to hear all the issues and details from his bumpy journey, followed by his smooth landing into the unforgettable Sir Paul McCartney concert. Finally, after the bright lights of the stadium, Uncle Brian happily put in some work on the ground, helping his niece with some necessary yard work at her new home purchase. And as always, our ears are blessed by the utterly soul-stirring, goosebump-inducing sounds of the Madalitso Youth Choir! Their Welcome and Goodbye songs, recorded straight from the Royal Livingston Hotel in Zambia, are pure magic.

Casey reports back with special inside information (that's a lie) from where the mini-apple's mediocre/stupid football team plays (GO BEARS), with news on the Hot City Horns, Minny Moms who Lap Dance, and the still-growing legend of rock's GOAT. Along the way, the Untitled Trio get a special message from our social media guru Glenny the K, who just saw Paul at Producer Casey's famous pizzarena. Plus, they also ask:

Dolly Parton BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Dolly Parton has been making headlines after postponing her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency due to health challenges, a move that instantly sparked concern and a wave of support from fans across the globe. According to her own statement shared on social media and widely reported on ITV News and Country Living, Dolly revealed she needed to undergo a series of unspecified medical procedures, joking that it was time for her 100,000-mile checkup—though she assured fans with her trademark wit that it was not her usual trip to the plastic surgeon. The original slate of six sold-out performances at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, which would have marked her first extended Vegas run in over three decades, was scheduled for December 2025. These shows have now been rescheduled for September 2026, with Parton making it clear tickets would be honored or refunded for those who can't make the new dates. The news of her postponement came right after she missed a major event at Dollywood, her iconic Tennessee theme park, due to a flare-up of kidney stones. WHNT News 19 and several entertainment outlets emphasized there was no specific diagnosis given beyond the need for recovery time, and Dolly herself reassured her devoted following that she is not quitting show business. She cited advice from her doctors and a personal sense that she should slow down temporarily, but with her usual optimism, she promised, "God hasn't said anything about stopping yet," highlighting her intention to keep working on her many projects from Nashville. Speculation about her future quickly appeared on social media, but Dolly dampened any rumors of retirement, insisting she has big adventures ahead—a message that trended widely on X and Instagram as fans poured in thousands of get-well messages and memes celebrating her resilience.Beyond her current health focus, Dolly continues to expand her business portfolio. Features in Forbes and IMDb have spotlighted her towering $450 million net worth and highlighted the growth of her “Doggy Parton” pet line, new Duncan Hines baking mixes, and her ever-popular Dollywood properties. In August, she received special attention from the Guinness Book of World Records with an "icon" certificate, putting her in league with Beyoncé and Sir Paul McCartney. Even during this pause from live performance, Dolly's brand and legendary catalog remain at the heart of country music, philanthropy, and entrepreneurship, her career far from finished—as she says, just resting up for the next act.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

The Bangles' Susanna Hoffs celebrates the life and legacy of Sir Paul McCartney, from his Liverpool roots to Beatlemania and beyond. It is a journey that moves from the late 1950s spanning McCartney's skiffle start with John Lennon in The Quarrymen, through to his long solo career, taking in Mersey Beat; the rise of the Fab Four to 1960s icons; and Wings' 1970s success. Susanna learns how The Beatles could only have come from Liverpool, and how a visit to McCartney's old grammar school led to a significant legacy: the formation of the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA). Joining Susanna are author of recent biography Fly Away Paul, Lesley-Ann Jones; veteran songwriter and member of 10cc, Graham Gouldman; LIPA founding principal and chief executive, Sir Mark Featherstone-Witty; Beatles historian and author, David Bedford; lifelong Beatles enthusiast Jean Catharell; BBC Radio Merseyside broadcaster Paul Beesley; Universal Music Group chairman and CEO Sir Lucian Grainge; plus two LIPA alumni - award winning composer Hannah Peel, and singer, songwriter and guitarist Natalie McCool. Giving the narrative an intimately familial contribution is McCartney's younger brother, Mike McCartney.

Hey! Our Beatles Series concludes with Let It Be. For this episode, we review the Peter Jackson's remastered version from Disney+ last year. After years of rugged VHS cuts, it's great to see this in a whole new way. To pair, we enjoy a nice Bordeaux, the favorite region and style of Sir Paul McCartney!
3pm Hour: We found out today that Sir Paul McCartney is coming back to town for his "Got Back" tour. Are you pumped for the experience even if he's not at peak talent anymore?
From the return of Sir Paul McCartney, Science Museum cuts, and more with Quick Takes, including being stuck in a sewer or a “utility vault” in this case which leads to the question - worst places to get stuck for four days?
EPYSODE 44 (pt. 1). Guest: Wings' guitarist Laurence Juber. Rules are meant to be broken. I couldn't help myself. I know I said that I would be featuring "under-the-radar" types of albums on this show. So why am I featuring an album that sold 4 million copies, won a grammy, and whose bandleader just so happens to be Sir Paul McCartney?!? 'Cuz I love this one!! Many critics (and some fans) have a different opinion of this record. These are the people I like to call...wrong. "Back To The Egg" has divided music listeners for over 4 decades now. With some wonderful commentary from Wings' guitarist Laurence Juber, we break down the songs to explain why this really is a fantastic album. If you haven't given this one a fair chance, take a listen with us. More aftershocks have been felt in Myanmar as the military junta continues bombing rebels. We speak to Kim Aris, Aung San Suu Kyi's son, about her 4 years' incarceration in a Burmese jail. Also: Donald Trump has said he was very angry with President Putin for questioning the credibility of the Ukrainian president; and we explore the relationship between John Lennon and his fellow Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney. We have a Grammy legend on the podcast this week, 11 time winner, it's singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile! Brandi schlepped to New Cross from Windsor where she is staying with her best friend, Sir Elton John. She is about to release a brand new album with Elton, and we heard all about how the album came about - and that the entire process was filmed for a documentary too. Brandi also shared that she lives on a compound in Washington state with all of her close friends and family, that she got married to her wife in London, all about her regular jamming sessions with Joni Mitchell (with wine and Mexican food dished up for everyone!), that it was thanks to Sir Paul McCartney that she met her wife, plus she has THE best idea pitch to Ben & Jerry's for their new Ice Cream flavour - Candy Bar-lile! Brandi & Elton's new album ‘Who Believes In Angels' is released on the 4th April, and you can catch Brandi on her UK & European tour in June & July. Hosted on Acast.
