Hi everybody and welcome to another episode of the TALK MUSIC podcast! My guest this week is BOB ROPER! This is a great, entertaining deep dive into his illustrious career. Bob has done it all! From booking concerts at university to doing major label promo, to working for top concert promoter MICHAEL COHL doing marketing. Bob then became an A&R guru at WARNER Music where he signed acts such as HONEYMOON SUITE, BLUE RODEO and FROZEN GHOST. He also helped ALANNAH MYLES and RUSH get their US careers going. Before joining Warner, he spent time as tour manager of SUPERTRAMP who, then at the peak of their career, ended up playing Madison Square Garden. After leaving Warner, Bob jumped into management working closely with SHARON LOIS AND BRAM, where he brought them to another level before moving on to handle A&R/management for the SRO/ANTHEM company (home of RUSH, GOWAN, MAX WEBSTER & CONEY HATCH).Following that, Bob ran his own management company (GOWAN, MOLLY JOHNSON) and then taught at the HARRIS INSTITUTE for 30 years! Wanting to be closer to home, Bob spent a couple of years working at the PRECISION manufacturing company and he just recently retired.I truly loved this interview as I also had a chance to THANK Bob for taking a chance on me as Producer of the debut album for HONEYMOON SUITE.His faith in me and the massive success of the 4 Top 10 singles (and TRIPLE PLATINUM sales of the album) was a game changer for me and changed my life forever!! Take a listen, there's lots of interesting stories in this one and I can honestly say Bob really is another one of the really good guys out there. ENJOY! Hosted on Acast. Rumer Live on Game Changers With Vicki Abelson It had been too long, too many years, since I'd last seen Rumer, whom I first heard about through our mutual friend, the late, J Marshall Craig a decade ago. As soon as I had my first taste I became obsessed with her and made it my quest to have her sing in my living room. I saw her perform at a benefit concert for Jeff Jones about 10 yrs ago and vowed to make it happen. A great friend and collaborator of the late, beloved PF Sloan, Rumer oft lived across the country and abroad, I met her at last at PF's memorial 9 yrs ago, just after he'd performed in the living room. Rumer and I became fast friends and I've listened to her in heavy rotation almost non-stop since. We came thisclose to her appearing at Women Who Write in 2016, and it's taken all this time to get her on Game Changers… good things come to those who wait. We went deep today, fittingly on 9/11. First, into Rumer's past. Her humble beginnings, at the time, one of seven siblings. A secret revealed long ago, which led to unwarranted shame, and an ongoing almost unfathomable generosity. The origin of her name, another sweet, and loving familiar story. Adele, the 16-year-old down the street who had the record deal that Sara sought, La Honda, her early band, the years, the hard work, finding the right producer and manager, and grit determination that finally paid off. Her platinum debut album, Seasons of My Soul, which garnered her numerous Brit and MOJO Award nominations and a couple of wins. Performing in the UK with Dionne Warwick and meeting her musical director, Rob Shirakbari, who would become Rumer's partner in music and life, Elton John became enamored of her talent, an oh-so-sweet story there! Touring brought her to the United States, where she began a long ongoing collaborative relationship with Burt Bacharach, to the White House to sing for the Obamas, to Jimmy Webb to sing his P.F. Sloan, and ultimately to sing it with the man himself, so important to this day as we ready to vote, to Daryl Hall and his Daryl House, great story about that, an email from Richard Carpenter, after being likened to his sister for years, a series of albums, motherhood, moving to Arkansas, a visit back to LA, where last we met, first giggling like girls in my car and then at a party at Stephen Bishop's, her Nashville Tears, then back to the UK. where she, husband Rob, and son, Denny, currently reside, and where Rumer will be performing her now Triple Platinum, Seasons of My Soul, to a Sold Out crowd, and soon, a new album, with her 9/11 song, will drop. Rumer shared her September 11th story, and I, mine. I'm so grateful to have had this reunion with Rumer, a treasured friend, and an artist I adore to my core, who gives me goosebumps every time I hear her sing. Her Slow remains in my top 5 of all time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvYUfwMBCrU. Her duet of I Can't Go For That with Daryl Hall is unforgettable https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rzr6mvDar30 as is her cover of his Sara Smile - that her first given name is Sara, just makes it that much sweeter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wh7y--Mc7kk. Rumer has the voice of an angel and the soul of one. AARON CARTER: DEATH OF A POP STAR The death certificate for Aaron Carter has revealed that the late singer's body was cremated just days after he died. Andy Symonds, the co-author of Carter's controversial unfinished memoir — the publication of which has since been put on hold — wrote in the book that Carter had told him he struggled with taking Xanax and huffing canned air like Dust Off. According to Symonds, he wasn't doing either in 2019 as they worked on the book about the highs and lows of his life. Aaron Carter's memoir release date has been pushed back amid controversy from his friends and family. Aaron Carter's memoir delayed ‘out of respect' for his family The “I Want Candy” singer became famous at a very young age as he sought to stand out in his talented family, which includes his older brother Nick, a member of the Backstreet Boys. Carter opened for the Backstreet Boys in Germany at the age of 8. His “Aaron's Party” album was certified Triple Platinum when he was 12. He allegedly got into drugs at an early age as well. In his book, originally planned for publication on Tuesday, Nov. 15, he revealed he started smoking weed when he was around 11. He claimed he spent $30,000 on ecstasy one summer when he was 15. Carter said he dabbled in heroin, but quit it after getting sick. He also got into Xanax and said he took some from another patient while at the Betty Ford Center in Palm Desert — a trip he claimed Nick paid for because he was taking “more Xanax at that point than ever before.” It's unclear what Carter's relationship with drugs was when he died. Symonds said he last spoke with Carter in April 2021. Symonds said they met three times in person in 2019 and 2020 for the project. In the book, Carter describes some eerie bathtub moments. He recalled falling asleep in a tub as a young child star in need of a break. “I remember locking myself in the bathroom of one of our hotel rooms and falling asleep in the bathtub because I needed more sleep,” he wrote. “My mom broke down the door, afraid I was drowning in there.” He said shortly after his 18th birthday, he booked a trip to Amsterdam, where he overdid it with mushrooms. “I was all alone tripping, talking to the bathtub, watching the curtains, and having all these emotional highs and lows, seeing everything from rainbows to lightning,” he wrote. “I always overdid everything.” In the memoir, Carter claimed he was always suicidal, but never planned to actually do it. “I was always suicidal, especially through those years. I never attempted suicide, but never had anyone to talk to about it,” he wrote. “But I knew I loved life too much to actually do it.” Since his death, those close to him have offered tributes. He leaves behind a son, Prince, who turns a year old on Nov. 22. Prince's mom is Carter's on-again, off-again fiancée, Melanie Martin. INSERT PHOTO Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter says he got a restraining order against his brother Aaron after he allegedly confessed intentions of killing his pregnant wife and unborn child. His statement below In September 2019, Nick Carter filed a restraining order against Aaron after he made a series of disturbing comments about his older brother's wife and child. Nick said in a statement, "In light of Aaron's increasingly alarming behavior and his recent confessions that he harbors thoughts and intentions of killing my pregnant wife and unborn child, we were left with no choice but to take every measure possible to protect ourselves and our family.” However, Aaron denied his brother's claims and said he hadn't spoken to him in years. Aaron Carter is a singer-songwriter famous for churning out tweenager-friendly music in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He hasn't aged gracefully. His latest public meltdown is one for the history books. When a celebrity's career is dying, they often flame out in a cringeworthy public meltdown. It's their best defense against becoming irrelevant. Congratulations, Aaron Carter, it worked; we're talking about you again. Carter, the recording “artist” behind that terrible song in the Jimmy Neutron movie, is suffering one of these classic public meltdowns. And he's sharing it on Twitter for all the world to see. What Ever Happened to Little Baby Aaron Carter? Aaron Carter has come a long way. And not for the better. Aaron Carter's latest antics involve stealing artwork, bashing the artist when he complained, and then practically begging the artist to take him to court. Oh, plus he hates America for some reason? MJ Coke Aaron Carter's rep claims the singer NEVER told an entertainment reporter Michael Jackson gave him cocaine and alcohol when he was 15 years old ... and says the reporter COMPLETELY FABRICATED the story. The controversy stems from an article that ran in OK! Magazine in Australia, written by international journalist Daphne Barak. In the article, Carter was quoted as saying, "Yes, [MJ] gave me wine. I mean, I could have refused, but I was 15. As for drugs? He gave me cocaine." But Carter's rep tells TMZ, "Nothing was said that was reported" ... and directed us toward a YouTube video of the interview with Barak ... which seems to back up Aaron's side of the story. UPDATE: A rep for Barak tells TMZ, "Aaron Carter told Daphne Barak in his lengthy interview in Spain, that Michael Jackson gave him alcohol and cocaine while he was 15. He also said that Michael invited him to sleep in his room, and when Aaron woke up at 5:00 AM, he found Michael on his bed."

Will God answer your prayer if you don't end with, "In Jesus' name, Amen?" Learn what praying in the name of Jesus really means. I taught this week on the call of Abraham and the development of God's missionary call through the nation of Israel as they were responsible to communicate the truth of God to the cultures around them. They were given that great commission. The great commission didn't start in Matthew 28. It started with Abraham in Genesis 12 —the first three verses there —Abraham, chosen by God to raise up a nation who would then be God's priests to the world so that they would be a blessing to all of the nations. They had a unique role in the great monotheistic religion. The Jews were supposed to reflect morality to the world. Israel was to witness to the name of God. When they talked about the name of God and witnessing to God's name, that does not mean that they were to let everybody know what they called God, "Yahweh." Their goal wasn't to cover the countryside with evangelists who just let everybody know what the right word for God was. It meant something different. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ https://linktr.ee/jacksonlibon -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #realtalk #face #instagram #amour #take #couple #dance #dancers #vogue #voguedqnce #garden #tiktok #psychology #beyou #near #love #foryou #money #ForYouPizza #fyp #irobot #theend #pups #TikToker #couplegoals #famille #relation #doudou #youtube #twitter #tiktokers #love #reeĺs #shorts #instagood #follow #like #ouy #oyu #babyshark #lilnasx #girl #happybirthday #movie #nbayoungboy #deviance #autotrader #trading #khan #academy #carter #carguru #ancestry #accords #abc #news #bts #cbs #huru #bluebook #socialmedia #whatsapp #music #google #photography #memes #marketing #india #followforfollowback #likeforlikes #a #insta #fashion #k #trending #digitalmarketing #covid #o #snapchat #socialmediamarketing H

What the Riff?!?
1966 - November: Simon & Garfunkel "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme"

What the Riff?!?

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 28, 2022 26:27

Many consider Simon & Garfunkel's third studio album to be the breakthrough album.  The tracks on Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme were written primarily by Paul Simon during his time as a visitor in England in the prior year.  The songs maintain the folk feel of previous albums, and are heavily tilted towards acoustic instrumentation.  Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel met in elementary school in Queens, New York, in 1953.  They had their first minor hit as teenagers in 1957 under the stage name Tom and Jerry.  They began by emulating the sound of The Everly Brothers, but moved towards a folk sound as that genre gained in popularity.  Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme was a follow-up to their second album, which had been a commercial success, but which the duo felt was rushed.  Simon insisted on control of the recording process, and they took nine months to craft and record the album.  The result would be both a critical and commercial success, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard Pop Album Chart and eventually achieving Triple Platinum status with the RIAA.The duet would go on to record five studio albums before growing apart and breaking up in 1971.  The duo would reunite several times afterwards, perhaps most famously for their concert in Central Park in 1981. Scarborough Fair/CanticleThe opening track originated from an English ballad that had its roots in a Scottish folk song from at least the 1670's.  Simon learned it from Martin Carthy in London, and set it in counterpoint against a song he had previously written in 1963.  It would appear as a single after being featured in the film "The Graduate" in 1968.Homeward BoundThis song had previously appeared on the UK version of the duo's second studio album before appearing on the this American release.  The single hit number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier in 1966, and was on the charts for 12 weeks.  SImon wrote it after returning from England in 1964. The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)The name of this song is from a bridge in New York, also known as the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge.  The theme to the television series "H.R. Pufnstuf" originally considered composed by Sid and Marty Kroft, was found to be too similar to this song, and Paul Simon was given writing credits to this theme after a court suit.A Simple Desultory Philippic (or How I Was Robert McNamara'd into Submission) This song is considered a parody of Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues," which was released the year before.  The lyrics name-drop many contemporary politicians, musicians, and celebrities, including Art Garfunkel.  Robert McNamara was the U.S. Secretary of Defense at the time the album was released. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:The theme from the television series "The Saint" Roger Moore starred as Simon Templar in this British spy series.  His work in The Saint would propel him to a future role as James Bond in the 007 movie franchise. STAFF PICKS:Psychotic Reaction by Count FiveWayne walks down the psychedelic path to open our staff picks.  The song name came from a professor in the lead singer's college psychology class.  The lyrics are about losing your mind due to heartache.  While this is a one-hit wonder, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame lists this song as one of the "500 Songs That Shaped Rock."You Keep Me Hangin' On by The Supremes Brian's staff pick was written by Holland-Dozier-Holland, authors of the Motown sound.  This song was written specifically for The Supremes, and details the tragedy of a relationship in which a man cannot let go of the woman, but can't commit to her either.  This was one of a string of four number 1 songs by The Supremes.Walk Away Renee by the Left BankBruce brings us a little baroque pop, complete with harpsicord and strings.  co-writer Michael Brown claims he wrote the song about Renee Fladen-Kamm, who was the girlfriend of The Left Bank bassist Tom Finn, and with whom Michael Brown was infatuated.  Co-writer Tony Sansone contradicts Brown, saying it was a French girl's name selected at random, inspired by the Beatles' song "Michelle."A Hazy Shade of Winter by Simon & GarfunkelRob's closes out the staff picks with a famous Simon & Garfunkel single that was recorded during the studio sessions for the album, and was on the charts at the time, but which did not appear on this album. COMEDY TRACK:Boy Wonder, I Love You by Burt WardThis strange piece is a weird collaboration between Burt Ward (who played Robin in the 60's "Batman" series) and Frank Zappa.

Live albums aren't for everyone, and if you want to get technical, some might say Elvis isn't either. I'm not sure who those people are, but I'm sure they're out there somewhere. Regardless of what you think about Elivs, live music is something that he did exceptionally well, and if you're looking to get into listening to live recorded music, this might be a proper place to start, A majority of artists might go their entire music career without playing Madison Square Garden. Even fewer artists have the ability to sell out Madison Square Garden when and if they get the chance to play it. Elvis not only sold out Madison Square Garden, but he sold it out five times in two days, and then put out two different live albums from the events, and by putting them out I mean he released one of them literally eight days after the show—which even in modern times is completely unheard of. Released in June of 1972, the album was met with much acclaim which helped the album peak at number 11, on the Top 200 US Billboard Albums Chart by August of the same year. The concert and subsequent albums were promoted as being Elvis' first live concerts in NYC since the 1950s, so to say that these shows and the two albums that came from them were a big deal, is certainly an understatement. Despite what appears to be a rather lengthy tracklisting, the release only made its way onto one double-sided LP. Much later on, Evlis' drummer Ronnie Tutt would shed a little light on why this might have been sighting that "The Colonel" Elvis' manager had the mixes sped up so that more songs could fit on the album, increasing his song royalties.Elvis, As Recorded at Madison Square Garden would go on to be certified Gold in August of 1972, Platinum in May of 1988, Double-Platinum in March of 1992, and then Triple-Platinum by July of 1999. This isn't just any live album and if you ask Kyle, he'll tell you that it just might be THE quintessential live album. I guess you can be the judge of that after you come with us as we talk about everything a live Elvis performance has to offer. Steve's brand new album is available here from AmazonUncovered by Steve HarleySTEVE HARLEY was born in Deptford, south London, on February 27th 1951, the second of five children.Due to a childhood illness, Steve spent almost four years in hospital between three and sixteen years, undergoing major surgery in 1963 and 1966. Aged 12, while in hospital recovering from surgery, Steve was first introduced to the poetry of Eliot and Lawrence, the prose of Steinbeck, Woolf and Hemingway, and the music of BOB DYLAN and realised that his life was likely to be preoccupied with words and music.Close to Christmas 1964, during that same nine months' hospitalisation at Queen Mary's Hospital for Children, Carshalton Beeches, Surrey, the ward welcomed the young ROLLING STONES who were on a goodwill PR visit.Charlie Watts spent quite a time chatting with us kids, but the others seemed more interested in joking about the huge poster of THE BEATLES pinned to a wall.Steve was a pupil of EDMUND WALLER PRIMARY SCHOOL, in Waller Road, New Cross, London, a short walk from his parents' home at FAIRLAWN MANSIONS, New Cross Gate, between the ages of five and eleven. He attended HABERDASHERS' ASKE'S HATCHAM GRAMMAR SCHOOL, Telegraph Hill, New Cross until seventeen. He left school without completing his Advanced Level exams. Steve later took an A-Level in English in his mid-30s.Steve's first guitar was a Christmas gift from his parents when he was ten-years-old. It was a Spanish, nylon-strung instrument. He took classical violin lessons from the age of nine to fifteen and played in his Grammar school orchestra. But he has always admitted he was a hopeless reader of music, so “must have been bluffing a lot of the time”.In the spring of 1968, Steve got his first full-time job, as a trainee accountant, at the DAILY EXPRESS newspaper in Fleet Street, London, in spite of gaining a mere 24% in his mock O-Level maths exam. But his heart was set on a career in Journalism, so being at the industry's heart was a useful stepping-stone for the nascent reporter. Interviewed by several newspaper editors, Steve finally signed indentures to train with ESSEX COUNTY NEWSPAPERS in Colchester, Essex. After three years working within the group, including stints at the Essex County Standard, the Braintree and Witham Times, the Maldon and Burnham Standard and the Colchester Evening Gazette, Steve moved back to London to work for the EAST LONDON ADVERTISER, then based in Mile End Road, in the heart of London's East End.Among many of Steve's contemporaries who have gone on to successful careers in national Journalism are JOHN BLAKE (now Managing Director of BLAKE PUBLISHING) and RICHARD MADELEY, of daytime TV fame. It was Madeley who actually took over the desk relinquished by Steve at the ELA in 1972."So, if you hadn't given it up to become a rock star," Madeley has told Steve, "I may never have got my chance to become a reporter."Steve began his singing career "floor-spotting" (singing for free as a member of the audience) in London folk clubs in 1971/72. He sang at LES COUSINS, BUNJIE'S and THE TROUBADOUR on nights featuring JOHN MARTIN, RALPH McTELL, MARTIN CARTHY and JULIE FELIX, all leading lights of the London folk movement at the time.He later joined folk band ODIN as rhythm guitarist and co-singer, which was where he met the first COCKNEY REBEL violinist, JOHN CROCKER. However, the folk scene proved a little tame for Mr Harley and, as he was constantly writing songs, formed COCKNEY REBEL as a vehicle for his own work. It was here that Steve and STUART ELLIOTT first met and worked together. Stuart drums with Steve's band on record and on tour from time to time to this day.The band signed to EMI for a guaranteed three album deal in 1972 and released THE HUMAN MENAGERIE early in '73. From this collection, a single, SEBASTIAN, became a huge European hit, staying at NUMBER ONE in HOLLAND and BELGIUM for many weeks. Other COCKNEY REBEL and/or STEVE HARLEY albums are: THE PSYCHOMODO, THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES, TIMELESS FLIGHT, LOVE'S A PRIMA DONNA, FACE TO FACE (LIVE), HOBO WITH A GRIN, THE CANDIDATE (all EMI), YES YOU CAN (1992), POETIC JUSTICE (1996) and THE QUALITY OF MERCY released in late 2005, plus 2 other Live acoustic CDs, STRIPPED TO THE BARE BONES TO THE and ANYTIME!One Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel single, MAKE ME SMILE (COME UP AND SEE ME), reached NUMBER ONE in 1975 in the UK and many European countries and is regularly voted among the top singles in the history of the charts, which covers six decades of releases. The Performing Rights Society has confirmed MAKE ME SMILE one of the most played records in British broadcasting. The song has been covered MORE THAN 100 TIMES in seven languages and has been featured in several movies including THE FULL MONTY (whose soundtrack album went TRIPLE PLATINUM in the UK, and PLATINUM in the USA and Australia), VELVET GOLDMINE, BEST and SAVING GRACE. The song has also been used on more than twenty TV and radio advertising campaigns around the world.Steve's other chart singles include, JUDY TEEN, MR SOFT, MR RAFFLES (MAN, IT WAS MEAN), HERE COMES THE SUN, LOVE'S A PRIMA DONNA, IRRESISTIBLE, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (with SARAH BRIGHTMAN) and A FRIEND FOR LIFE.During the eighties, Steve took time out from the rock world as his two children were going through their formative years but did perform on stage, albeit the legitimate stage. He starred as the C16th playwright Christopher Marlowe, in the musical-drama MARLOWE, which ran off-Broadway and in London. Steve's performance was described by one leading critic as "a major and moving performance."This has been taken from https://www.steveharley.com/biography.htmlSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/that-millwall-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Go back and check out our first of this series, the 1997 Original Song review, where we discussed Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On,” and how much we miss the music video watching lifestyle of the 1990’s. This episode features the 2013 Best Original Song including the films Frozen, Despicable Me 2, Her, & Mandela. There’s a lot to digest in this one as we chronicle some Oscar drama where a technicality / rule violation revokes one of these nominations. We also have two (Metalsmiths, what’s better than Triple Platinum???... wait, you said Unobtainium???...OK, you, the voice in my head is James Cameron. That’s sane. Anyway-)... We also have two Triple Unobtainium level hit singles in Frozen’s “Let it Go” and Despicable Me 2’s “Happy.” Then there’s the ultimate minimalist love song from the quirk-fest that was “Her,” and by the way, the biggest rock band on the planet, U2 is also nominated. We chat about the song use in each movie, the music videos, and the oscar performances. As usual, we gush over what we like, heckle what we don’t, and somehow self-depricate ourselves in the process. Music criticism may not be our forte, but damn, do we have some fun podcasting about it. Don’t miss this episode. The Marvel Cinematic Universe re-watch continues next as we continue to build up to Avengers: Infinity War, and do stay tuned for a comprehensive review of that film after it’s much anticipated release. We’ll get to a late review of Isle of Dogs, there’s a May Movie Preview coming soon, and we’ll have several big movie events coming next month. MMO is going strong, and we thank you for listening. Please feel free to chat with us on social media. We’re on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, and Gmail. We’ll eventually have a website for our written words and to make a home for all our cool stuff. Reality being what it is may require some escapism, but we’re having a ton of fun offering you some alternative listening this spring. Do please help us spread the word about our show. Thanks again. We’re Mike, Mike, and Oscar!

IMELDA MAY, born in Dublin, Ireland and raised in the Liberties, may be an unknown name to some, but to many she is already a superstar. She is unmistakable both in her music (a fusion of surf guitars, blues and rockabilly that wouldn't be out of place in a David Lynch film) and her style, with a solitary curl and shock of blonde in her jet black hair. In Ireland, her debut album 'Love Tattoo', which she recorded and released on her own label, has gone Triple Platinum. She has shared a stage with Eric Clapton, Chuck Berry, David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Van Morrison, Lionel Richie, Wanda Jackson, and Meatloaf. APRIL VERCH is a dynamic award winning Canadian fiddler, singer and stepdancer. With her band, she plays a traditional and original repertoire that is deeply rooted in the style she grew up with in the Ottawa Valley region of Ontario. She became the first women in history to win both of Canada's most prestigious fiddle championships, The Gran Masters and Canadian Open; and when Canada hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics, she was asked to represent her country's music at the opening ceremonies. Her latest album 'That's How We Run' is her eighth release and explores Appalachian mountain music with her Northern roots.
