We are honored to have one of our founding Board members, Lara Veve, share with us today about motherhood, womanhood, and so much more. In the Bible, God consistently affirms the value, dignity, and worth of women—regardless of whether they are mothers. While motherhood is honored as a significant and sacred role, a woman's identity and value are not limited to being a mother. We are valuable to God because of who He is and how he made us – not because of what we do, what we produce, or how others see us.This message is from our Sunday morning service on May 11th, 2025.We gather on Sunday mornings at 10:00am at the AMC Orchard Theatre (14653 Orchard Parkway, Westminster 80023). The early Christian church had a problem: there was little organization or structure to flesh out authority and trustworthiness in leadership circles. As a result, some men were coming in and demanding to be listened to and paid well. John lays out two situations for us that go in different directions and help us to understand when we should listen to a leader and when we are being abused, gaslit, or even worse. NOTE: I accidentally called Miriam the wife of Moses, she is his sister. Today closes eight weeks of exploring 1 John. We started with a metaphor, John as Expert Witness, and we end with one as well: Tour Guide. John has led us through highlights and things we need to know about Jesus, including the most important thing we can know: how to find real, eternal life through Him.This message is from our Sunday morning service on April 27th, 2025.We gather on Sunday mornings at 10:00am at the AMC Orchard Theatre (14653 Orchard Parkway, Westminster 80023). It's Easter - we celebrate that Jesus defeated sin and death as we explore the words of an angel that approached Mary and the other Mary at Jesus's tomb: “He isn't here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen.” Matthew 28:6, NIV. How does Easter demonstrate the way that Jesus breaks through our fear and suffering to give us real life, real peace, the chance to rise above it all and thrive? This message is from our Sunday morning service on April 20th, 2025.We gather on Sunday mornings at 10:00am at the AMC Orchard Theatre (14653 Orchard Parkway, Westminster 80023). Today we explore the connection between the expectations of the people as they resist the Roman Empire's grasp on Jerusalem, and the timing of Jesus showing up in town. The resentment that boils up from the people in the wake of their expectation of a king that would lead them to a military victory but instead arrives in humility and love leads to the arrest and death of Jesus. What does it mean for us and what does Palm Sunday teach us?This message is from our Sunday morning service on April 13th, 2025.We gather on Sunday mornings at 10:00am at the AMC Orchard Theatre (14653 Orchard Parkway, Westminster 80023). What's in a name? A lot ... whether the name is of a family legacy, a tribute to a loved one past or present, or an aspirational, even biblical name to be lived into. We explore the metaphor John and other New Testament writers use to talk of our adoption as children of God and what it means for the bigger picture of the way that God wants us to be truly free. This message is from our Sunday morning service on April 6th, 2025.We gather on Sunday mornings at 10:00am at the AMC Orchard Theatre (14653 Orchard Parkway, Westminster 80023). Ever think about the final thing you might say in your time on Earth? If you knew the words would be remembered and might leave a lasting impression, even a legacy - what would you want to say? We push on in 1 John – looking at what he says about orienting our lives around God's commands. When Jesus said that all commands, all laws and rules boil down to loving God and loving others, how did John understand and teach this? How can we exercise love and forgiveness, putting ithers first in a me-first society? This message is from our Sunday morning service on March 23rd, 2025.We gather on Sunday mornings at 10:00am at the AMC Orchard Theatre (14653 Orchard Parkway, Westminster 80023). John, the eyewitness to Jesus's life on Earth continues his letter to a church of people that he loves by encouraging them (and us) that Jesus is light in a world that is so often dark. He challenges us that our patterns and rhythms can lead us closer to that light in meaningful relationship with Jesus; or towards darkness in sinful ways. This message is from our Sunday morning service on March 16th, 2025.We gather on Sunday mornings at 10:00am at the AMC Orchard Theatre (14653 Orchard Parkway, Westminster 80023). Today we start our look at 1 John together by talking about how credibility comes from someone that has witnessed an event firsthand. John, as an eyewitness to Jesus and his life on Earth, has much to say about the work that Jesus did and that he continues to do. 1 John is a book that gives us an example of love, friendship, and meaningful relationships to not only implement into life, but make a way of living. This message is from our Sunday morning service on March 9th, 2025.We gather on Sunday mornings at 10:00am at the AMC Orchard Theatre (14653 Orchard Parkway, Westminster 80023). We conclude the deep dive into Psalm 139 today with a look at how God is never-changing. Although we have seasons, growth, and missteps, God is consistent. As this series wraps up, it is a reminder of the attributes of God that we have explored together in the last several weeks. This message is from our Sunday morning service on March 2nd, 2025.We gather on Sunday mornings at 10:00am at the AMC Orchard Theatre (14653 Orchard Parkway, Westminster 80023). Our dissection of Psalm 139 continues with a look at verses 15 and 16. Today we discuss the question: “What are the Odds?” Specifically, what are the chances that you were born onto this planet as you? What does it mean that you were, and what does God have planned for you? We live in a culture that promotes the myth of self-sufficiency, believing that we don't need anything or anyone outside of ourselves. The myth falls apart pretty quickly though. Assuming the role of Creator in our own lives leaves us feeling exhausted, isolated, and anxious. So, what does it mean that God is in fact self-sufficient? And why would this be good news for us? This week we explore what it means that God is ever-present. God is able to be fully present everywhere and at all times. We, unlike God, are bound to be in one place at one time though often deceive ourselves into thinking we can live beyond our limits. How do we learn to live within our boundaries and what might it look like to grow in our ability to sense God right where we are, wherever we are? You're probably familiar with sentiment, "knowledge is power". Though, at what point do we know too much? In what ways do we attempt to reach past the boundaries and limits of our finite minds, trying to rival God in his infinite knowledge? We don't know everything, but God does. This week we use Psalm 139 to talk about how God is all-knowing and we are not, and why that is a good thing. We wrap up these four weeks of looking at why we exist as a church by exploring the idea that We Belong to Each Other from the standpoint of connection and belonging. In a culture that prizes individualism and consumerism, what does it mean to be a people that belong to each other? We're identified by all kinds of labels and relationships and roles; brother, daughter, spouse, friend, pastor, nurse, teacher, etc. Though what does it mean to be identified by God and to let our identity as his own supersede all of these other parts of how we understand ourselves? How does our belonging to God transform how we see our accomplishments and our failures? This message is from our Sunday morning service on January 5th, 2025.We gather on Sunday mornings at 10:00am at the AMC Orchard Theatre (14653 Orchard Parkway, Westminster 80023). We're spending the first part of the new year returning to our two foundational identity statements: We Belong to God & We Belong to Each Other. We all desire belonging. Belonging doesn't require us to sacrifice or compromise parts of ourselves, but is when we are the most free to be who we truly are. So then, what does it mean to belong to God? This week, Lindsey explores the significance of full transparency before God and the assurance of his love despite our fear of rejection. Merry Christmas, Kindred! The phrase “Don't be afraid” appears four times throughout the retelling of the Christmas story. It's clear an encounter with the divine was awe-inspiring, but these words are also spoken in response to the specific fears some of the characters carried. We all carry fears of our own about life and the future and the world. Tonight we remember how the Christmas story speaks to our unique fears. When God says, “Don't be afraid”, he isn't belittling our worry or uncertainty, but ensuring us he is right here, with us in every dimension of our humanity…including our fear. Inspiration for this series is drawn from Scott Erickson's reflections in his book, "Honest Advent".This message is from our Wednesday night service on December 22nd, 2024.Beginning on January 5th, 2025 we will gather on Sunday mornings at 10:00am at the AMC Orchard Theatre (14653 Orchard Parkway, Westminster 80023). Christmas reveals the birth of the Savior, the one that would be the comforter of the downtrodden, the protector of the vulnerable, the leader that people need more than we know. It's week two of Advent and we are exploring the idea that while Jesus entered our world at that famous manger scene, he was always here and always will be. More than that, he may be described as the “Alpha and Omega” in Revelation, Beginning and End, but Jesus is right here in the middle of our lives. What does that mean about Jesus, about us, about Christmas? Inspiration for this series is drawn from Scott Erickson's reflections in his book, "Honest Advent". We aren't given very many details about Mary's pregnancy in Scripture, though it's unlikely she escaped the unique discomfort of morning sickness as she carried this baby to be born. We have reached the final chapter of 1 Samuel where Saul meets his tragic death. We ask ourselves how we will remember Saul and what parts of his life will echo for centuries to come. Saul and David are both desperate at this stage of their cat and mouse game, and both men turn from their true selves and compromise their character as the days wear on them. David has a wandering eye and Saul dabbles in the occult, both signaling the desperation their fear and anger has led them to. What do we do when life gets tough and your emotion leads us astray? This message is from our Wednesday night service on November 13th, 2024.We gather on Wednesday nights at 6:00pm at The Establishment in Bradburn (11885 Bradburn Blvd. Westminster 80031). David and Saul are locked in a game of cat and mouse, chasing one another around the desert and seeking to gain the upper hand in the ideological, and sometimes, physical battle to be in control of Israel. They are both preparing for what might be next, but they also both believe that God is on their side. The impossibility of this clashes greatly in tonight's narrative, and we ask what's next for Israel and what's next for us?This message is from our Wednesday night service on November 6th, 2024.We gather on Wednesday nights at 6:00pm at The Establishment in Bradburn (11885 Bradburn Blvd. Westminster 80031). Things begin to intensify between David and Saul after David's heroic defeat of Goliath. We'll explore the way fear is often weaponized against us to further division and violence and chaos. Tonight the well-known story of David and Goliath is brought to new life as we consider all that we've seen happen in 1 Samuel that has led us to this epic tale. As we get to know a teenage David, we are inspired by his boyish and somewhat simple faith. The war rages on. As Saul's questionable choices put him in the doghouse we see the rise of his eventual replacement, the man after God's heart. But getting to this understanding requires some critical thinking and application for us, leading us to ask: does God see us for who we are like he does David? And why is this good news for us?This message is from our Wednesday night service on October 16th, 2024.We gather on Wednesday nights at 6:00pm at The Establishment in Bradburn (11885 Bradburn Blvd. Westminster 80031). Saul is king, the people got what they said they wanted. Now, as he begins his military career, we see quickly what kind of person they have ended up with. As Samuel and Saul start their ideological clash against a backdrop of war and death, there are a lot of things to ask about and to decipher – but the main question is: what do we make of all this violence and terror and how should we live differently now in 2024?This message is from our Wednesday night service on October 9th, 2024.We gather on Wednesday nights at 6:00pm at The Establishment in Bradburn (11885 Bradburn Blvd. Westminster 80031). We've experienced so much rejection, disappointment, and inconsistency from the commitments in our life, that we often struggle to believe God is unflinching in his commitments. Most of our life is motivated by our desire for security. It's not a wrong or bad desire, though it's who and what we believe can provide us with a sense of assurance and stability that becomes problematic.
