A chief doctrinal debate within church history is the nature and character of eternal security. Does Scripture indeed teach the doctrine of the perseverance of the saints? Or to ask the question another way: is it possible for one for whom Christ died to be lost? Despite the clarity of Scripture on this topic (in places like Romans 8 and John 10), there are a few ambiguous texts which seem to suggest the possibility of a regenerate person falling away from grace. One such difficult text is Romans 14:14–16 where Paul seems to suggests one can destroy – eternally perish – the soul of another brother if they neglect considering their conscience. In this sermon on “Once Saved, Always Saved” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones examines this passage and others like it, using it as an opportunity to teach Christians how to responsibly handle apparent contradictions in Scripture. With theological acumen, Dr. Lloyd-Jones helps the listener to consider why it is impossible for anyone to be responsible for the everlasting destruction of another person. Not only listen and be encouraged by the assurance believers have, but hear Dr. Lloyd-Jones handle difficult texts with care.

In this episode of That Ain't In the Bible, Jonathan and Brandon dive into a surprisingly debated topic: what should someone wear to be baptized—and where should it happen?Does Scripture give specific guidelines about clothing for baptism? Is there a “proper” place it has to take place—inside a church, in a baptistry, or somewhere else? Or are many of our current practices shaped more by tradition, preference, and practicality than by clear biblical command? With a mix of humor and biblical clarity, the guys explore what the Bible actually teaches about baptism while helping listeners distinguish between what is essential and what is simply customary. Along the way, they may challenge a few assumptions and long-held expectations.Because while baptism is clearly in the Bible… the dress code and location guidelines we often assume?Yeah… that ain't in the Bible.
Family relationships are being reexamined across today's culture, as more adult children choose to cut off contact with their parents in the name of “boundaries.” What began as a broader social trend is now affecting Christian and Apostolic families as well.In this episode of Apostolic Life in the 21st Century, Dr. David K. Bernard addresses a challenging and deeply personal question: Does Scripture support an adult Christian cutting ties with Christian parents? With biblical clarity and pastoral sensitivity, Dr. Bernard explores the command to honor father and mother (Exodus 20:12), the role of healthy boundaries, and personal responsibility in strained relationships. Rather than adopting cultural narratives uncritically, this conversation invites believers to evaluate family conflict through the lens of Scripture. This episode was inspired by a recent article from The Federalist highlighting the growing trend of family estrangement.Visit PentecostalPublishing.com to shop Dr. Bernard's full catalog of published works. Rich Tidwell, the pastor of Ormand Church in Canton, Missouri, recently made some explosive claims he took to social media with a shocking announcement that he has a second wife and that he believes the Bible supports the practice of polygyny, the idea that a man may have multiple wives. Naturally, this has raised some serious questions. Is there any biblical basis for what he's teaching? Does Scripture actually permit this practice, or are we watching yet another example of a self-proclaimed teacher twisting God's Word to justify the desires of his flesh? We begin a new focus: Christ in Every Page? Many claim that the Bible's unity proves it must come from God—that every story and symbol ultimately points to Christ. In Part 1, we test that claim and explore what it assumes about interpretation, revelation, and theology. Does Scripture truly reveal a single redemptive thread, or have we been taught to see one?

Sometimes, Christians pit doctors and divine healing against one another, as if relying on natural remedies reveals a lack of faith. Does Scripture support that assumption?
Predictions of when Christ will return seem to take place every year, but what are the biblical signs of the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ? Does Scripture even allow the opportunity of discerning precisely when He will return again? In this sermon on the timing of Christ's return, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones answers these questions and more, contending that it is useless for Christians to debate the exact date and time of His coming since Jesus promised that only God the Father knew. Dr. Lloyd-Jones takes the listener through a helpful history of these questions that begins with the apostles since many have argued that they expected Jesus to return again in their lifetime. In addition to this view of the apostles, Dr. Lloyd-Jones also gives a brief overview of several other alternate stances on this subject. According to Scripture, Dr. Lloyd-Jones teaches, there are two signs that precede the second coming of Christ—the calling of the Gentiles and the gathering in of the fullness of Israel. He skillfully explains from a biblical standpoint what these mean, providing the listener with clarity that is often missing when studying this topic. This is a helpful sermon for anyone currently confused about how to interpret the biblical prophecies regarding the Lord's second coming.

In some cities, we couldn't eat in restaurants, buy a cup of coffee, or attend a concert unless we showed proof of vaccination.People rolled up their sleeves. Many regret it because they later learned the “vaccine”prevented neither infection nor transmission. In the message she urges women to keep themselves from getting distracted by "turning" to observe what God is doing in other people's lives. There can be a lot of emotional manipulation happening in the modern church today. Sunday September 1, 2024 Intro: Believers, forgiven by means of the blood of Christ, are not suddenly exempt from the sin problem. We continue to sin. Are we to try and stop? Are we to just let it go and hope for the best? Are we to confess and move on? Are we to ask for forgiveness? What are we to do about our sin problem? Does Scripture tell us precisely, and if so, what will be the result of our obedience to... for full notes: https://www.cgtruth.org/index.php?proc=msg&sf=vw&tid=3052
How do we approach the issue of singing and offering hymns as worship to God that were written by men who were heretics? Do we sing them anyway? Does Scripture even teach on this? How can we be sure our music glorifies God and is safe for the body? In this episode, Mackenzie dives into the origins and backgrounds of two different hymn writers who had some very questionable beliefs and teachings as well as the famous hymns they coined that we are very familiar with singing in church today. Using Scripture, Mackenzie breaks down these questions and more so we can be truly confident in our worship music selections and be 'well with our souls.' Hi, I'm Mackenzie. I'm a music artist, worship leader, wife, mom (I wear a lot of hats), and host of the Godly Whistleblower podcast. I seek to shine a light on popular teachings and music in the church today and share what Scripture teaches on how we are to worship in spirit and in truth within the church gathering. My desire is to learn together with my listeners how Christians are to live lives ultimately as a pleasing worship to God. If you enjoyed this episode, I'd appreciate so much if you left me a review! Popular evangelical Christianity teaches that God's children need to hear the voice of God to live the fulfilling life God calls His children to. But is this true? Does Scripture teach that we need and should expect to hear from God?Does this teaching help or hinder Christian women?Let's talk about it with Pastor Jim Osman, author of the book God Doesn't Whisper who helps us see how the Hearing the Voice of God doctrine undermines Sola Scriptura, presents a weak God, and brings Christians to walk in doubt rather than faith. Galatians 6:14 — The cross is a symbolic picture that has universal recognition. But what is the meaning behind the cross and what does it represent? Does Scripture instruct how to view the cross today? In this sermon on Galatians 6:14 titled “Looking at the Cross,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones points to the passage as a way to test (positively or negatively) one's understanding of the cross. Here the apostle Paul points out two aspects of the cross that are important to understand: he glories (boasts) in the cross and he glories in nothing else. The cross is his boast because of what took place on the cross as Christ offered Himself as a sacrifice. In relation to Christ's great demonstration of love, everything else in the world fades in comparison. There is nothing left that is worthy of boasting in. As Dr. Lloyd-Jones draws out the implications for today, he confronts with the question, “Why should I glory in the cross today?” The listener is encouraged to reflect anew on the meaning of the cross, as well as consider the cross and the worthlessness of the world, the deliverance the cross provides from the law, and the beautiful, wondrous character of the cross as the manifestation of God's love and power.
