Weekly Message from Vine Worship with John Wayne McMann | Kingwood UMC
Kingwood United Methodist Church
Many of us have probably heard the parable of the seed and the ground. There is a sower, there is different types of ground, and different outcomes, ect. Many people have used this parable for different outcomes and lenses... How can we implement this wisely? What is beyond the bounds of the word? If you have any responses or questions, email us at Ryan.stueckemann@kingwoodmethodist.org If you prefer to listen, stream, and/or watch, join us and subscribe on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@kingwoodmethodist
This Sunday in the Vine we heard stories about what God did in and through our incredible high school students at U.M. As we start a new sermon series on the parables at KMC, we talk through the process and God's will of sanctification. What does it look like to try to become more like God? What does it look like to do enter into that work WITH God? What matters and what is just semantics? As always, if you have a question or comment, email the team at Ryan.stueckemann@kingwoodmethodist.org If you prefer to listen, stream, and/or watch, join us and subscribe on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@kingwoodmethodist
In Matthew 13, Jesus uses Isaiah's words to hint at the idea that he teaches in parables to plant salvation seeds in our hearts. If you prefer to listen, stream, and/or watch, join us and subscribe on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@kingwoodmethodist
Last Sunday, we welcomed a missionary to talk in our space, and believe it or not, one of our crew served in the missions field! Chris and Jill served in Lisbon, Portugal for a couple years. As Chris shares their experience in the missions field, we ask a core question. How do we evangelism well? If you want to get in touch with the team, email us at Ryan.stueckemann@kingwoodmethodist.org If you prefer to listen, stream, and/or watch, join us and subscribe on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@kingwoodmethodist
As we talk through Pentecost, Chris floats out the idea that Pentecost is so much more than just the moment the spirit of God descended, but that it's God fully stamping His authority on all nations. How does that impact the way we read scripture? And how we process rebellion and the spiritual rhelm? All Glory to God! If you have any questions or feedback, email the team at Ryan.stueckemann@kingwoodmethodist.org If you prefer to listen, stream, and/or watch, join us and subscribe on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@kingwoodmethodist
Our guest preacher for the day is Mwenge Muyombi, lay leader of the Kigoma District in the Tanzania GMC Annual conference. Mwenge's father brought Methodism to Tanzania in 1989 and Mwenge shares how the Holy Spirit empowers the church to feed the orphans and widows and start churches under trees. Tanzanian leadership is largely creating local GMC churches from nothing and bringing people to faith in Christ by sharing the love of Christ. Just a question... Is Kimberly actually from TX?... And on a more important note. When we talk about the Spirit of God coming, what does that mean? How do we think about the Spirit, Jesus, and the Father? How do we not dip into a heretical view of God? We try our best! And if you have any questions or comments, email the team at Ryan.stueckemann@kingwoodmethodist.org If you prefer to listen, stream, and/or watch, join us and subscribe on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@kingwoodmethodist
In Acts 1, we are reminded that Jesus came to begin God's saving work in the world, and one day he'll return to finish it. As we dive into the "Road To Emmaus" text from Luke 24, the trio asks the question, what do we make of Jesus' pattern of "hiding" himself in plain sight from his disciples post-resurrection? And what does that mean for the way we pursue Christ? John 21:15-19 is the full-circle moment of the reconciliation of Peter, and the prophecy of his eventual death. We pause today and step back to ask, what is an accurate view of a life of suffering and self denial? What does it mean to live as a living sacrifice in a 21st century context? And how do we take up the cross of Christ and suffer with Him when we're just going about our every day? If you ever have a question or a comment, email us! If we are being honest, we have a tendency to process our world with ourselves and the hero, and that inevitably bleeds into the way we read scripture. Sometimes that can be true and beneficial... But! When it comes to Jesus, it can taint the way we process scripture. Today we talk about processing scripture not from us as the hero... But us as the people listening to Jesus. And...
