Debra Herbeck speaks at conferences and retreats about spiritual growth, discipleship, and her own journey from Judaism to the Catholic Church. For the past thirty years, she has worked extensively in youth and women’s ministry. Debbie is the co-founder and leader of Be Love Revolution, a movement dedicated to helping young women encounter and be God’s love in the world. Debbie is the director of Pine Hills Girls Camp. She also helps lead i.d. 9:16, an outreach of Renewal Ministries that equips young adult Catholics to live as intentional disciples. She has written Safely Through the Storm: 120 Reflections on Hope, Firmly on the Rock: 120 Reflections on Faith, and Love Never Fails: 120 Reflections on Love. She and her husband Peter co-authored When the Spirit Speaks: Touched by God’s Word.

Fr. Philip Merdinger is the founder of the Brotherhood of Hope, a religious community of lay brothers. Since retiring as a spiritual director in the Boston Archdiocese in 2013, he has moved to Minneapolis where he serves as the National Chaplain for Saint Paul’s Outreach as well as assisting with spiritual direction at The Saint Paul Seminary.

Following 25 years as an award-winning corporate advertising executive, Tom Peterson’s life would radically change forever, after receiving a transforming Spiritual conversion while on a Catholic men’s retreat. Soon afterward, he founded two media apostolates: VirtueMedia (pro-life) and Catholics Come Home.

The founding team teaching leader for Catholic Way Bible Study, currently distributed in 40 states & internationally. She received her BA in Anthropology & Spanish from the university of Michigan her JD from the University of Kentucky College of Law and Master Degree in Theology from the Augustine Institute in Denver.

Therese Cirner, a licensed clinical counselor and adjunct professor at Franciscan University of Steubenville, has worked to renew the Church spiritually for the past 30 years. Presently, she hosts the yearly Catholic women’s Conference at FUS, which draws over 700 women each summer.

On March 24, 2016, Pope Francis named Bernard Hebda the Archbishop-Designate of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Archbishop Hebda’s Installation Mass took place on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Cathedral of St Paul.

Sister John Mary Fleming, a member of the Dominicans’ St. Cecilia Congregation in Nashville, Tennessee, has seen all angles of Catholic education, as high school principal, director of education for her religious congregation and a college interim vice president of operations before starting her position six years ago as executive director of the Secretariat of Catholic Education for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Currently, Sr. John Mary is the Director of Education for the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia. Sr. John Mary holds a licentiate in canon law from The Catholic University of America, a masters degree in theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville, a master of education degree in educational leadership and supervision from the University of Southern Mississippi and a bachelor degree in education from Belmont University, Nashville.

Ismael Hernandez is the Founder and President of the Freedom & Virtue Institute. With a Master’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Southern Mississippi and professional experience as executive director of the African Caribbean American Catholic Center, Ismael leads FVI based on the principles of effective compassion and personal responsibility. Ismael frequently lectures with the Acton Institute’s Acton University in Grand Rapids, Michigan and has lectured for American Enterprise Institute, Heritage Foundation, the Foundation for Government Accountability and the Foundation for Economic Education. He is also a columnist for World Magazine. Ismael is the author of the book Not Tragically Colored, as well as many articles for various publications.

Lloyd Reeb has had the privilege of investing 20 years helping leaders plan their second half. He helped launch the Halftime Institute, a global team that teach, coach and connect successful men and women in pursuit of significance. In Lloyd’s words, “When all you've done or own seems to matter less ...and your heart craves more meaning, joy and balance...when something triggers in your mind that you're entering your second half of life and you're unsure what your calling is for the next season... you’re in Halftime.”

Daniel Mattson is the author of Why I Don't Call Myself gay. He a member of the Courage Apostolate and is featured in the documentary Desire of the Everlasting Hills. Dan has written about the Church’s good news concerning homosexuality in First Things, Crisis Magazine, Catholic Answers Magazine as well as other publications. He is often invited to share his testimony with clergy, schools and parishes, where one of his primary focuses is to promote the freedom the Church brings to the world from our cultural confusion concerning sexual identity. Dan is also a professional trombonist with the Grand Rapids Symphony.

Katherine Kersten, a writer and attorney, is a Senior Fellow at Center of the American Experiment. She served as a columnist and writer for the Star Tribune (Minneapolis) from 1996 to 2013. Katherine has written on cultural and policy issues for a variety of publications, including the Wall Street Journal, the Weekly Standard, Christianity Today, Policy Review, American Enterprise, and First Things. For two years, she served as a regular commentator for National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered.”

Robert R. Reilly is director of the Westminster Institute. He has been on the board since its founding. In his 25 years of government service, he has taught at National Defense University (2007), and served in the Office of The Secretary of Defense, where he was Senior Advisor for Information Strategy (2002-2006). He participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 as Senior Advisor to the Iraqi Ministry of information. Before that, he was director of the Voice of America, where he had worked the prior decade. Mr. Reilly served in the White House as a Special Assistant to the President (1983-1985), and in the U.S. Infor- mation Agency both in D.C. and abroad. In the private sector, he spent more than seven years with the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, as both national director and then president. He was on active duty as an armored cavalry officer for two years, and attended Georgetown University and the Claremont Graduate University. He has published widely on foreign policy, the “war of ideas”, and classical music. Among his many publications are: The Closing of the Muslim Mind: How Intellectual Suicide Created the Modern Islamist Crisis, ISI Books, 2010.

Stephen is a senior aeronautical engineering student from Illinois who attends the U of M. He will graduate this spring and join Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut. A SPO missionary on campus, Stephen shares his faith journey.

Since launching SFLA’s full-time operation, Kristan has helped more than triple the number of campus pro-life groups in the United States, from 181 to almost 800 in 49 states, and grow the SFLA National Conference from 450 in 2007 to 2,000 in 2012, making the event the largest pro-life conference in the nation.
