Contrary to what the mainstream media and some Evangelicals are saying about Critical Race Theory (CRT)—that it's a “bogeyman” (that it's made up, nothing to fear)—Christians who are paying even half attention know and see how this insidious ideology that pits non-whites against whites is infiltrating every institution in our country. The government-run public school system has become a flashpoint for heated confrontations between school boards intent on instituting CRT and parents pushing back on this racist and divisive worldview. One question that has been little discussed is: How did Critical Race Theory become so widely accepted so quickly? In other words, how could such a blatantly wicked ideology be swallowed hook, line, and sinker by so many people? Our guest to answer these questions this Independence Day weekend is Katherine Kersten, a writer, lawyer, and senior policy fellow at the Center of the American Experiment. She has written extensively on CRT, especially as it relates to the educational system here in Minnesota, which is likely taking place in your state as well. She will explain the psychological manipulation—straight from the Marxist playbook—that is being used to delude so many. She will also rebut the false assertions about America that Critical Theorists use as a basis for their deception.

GUEST: Katherine Kersten, Senior Policy Fellow, Center of the American Experiment Last week we discussed what is behind the denigration of “whiteness” in the country, examining a section with that title on the website of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of African American History and Culture, along with a now-removed infographic on “Aspects and Assumptions of Whiteness and White Culture in the United States” (you can view it here). Values like the nuclear family, objective thinking, hard work, delayed gratification, and Christianity are associated with whiteness and viewed as unremarkable or even contemptible. In short, the vilification of whiteness is a not-too-veiled vilification of mostly Christian values. This weekend, Katherine Kersten will join us for Part 2 of this topic. Katherine is a senior policy fellow at the Center of the American Experiment, a conservative civic policy organization based in Minnesota. Recently she wrote a column for the Minneapolis Star Tribune titled “Racial Justice: The New Religion?” which highlights much of the “race-ism” worldview of our current times.

What do Karl Marx and learning your ABCs have in common? You might be surprised. In this episode of ‘Just Thinking’, Darrell and Virgil discuss the growing influence of cultural Marxism in public education or, perhaps more accurately, public indoctrination, by looking at what’s transpiring in one school district in Edina, Minnesota, where students were required to participate in such “racially conscious” assignments the ‘Melanin Project’ and where “racial equity” is seemingly more important than academics. What, if anything, does the gospel have to say about this? Take a listen and find out. Katherine Kersten joins Brian Anderson to discuss how public school leaders in St. Paul, Minnesota abandoned student discipline—and unleashed mayhem—in the name of “racial equity.” In January 2014, the Obama administration’s Departments of Education and Justice issued a “Dear Colleague” letter to every school district in the country, laying out guidelines to local officials for how to avoid racial bias when suspending or expelling students. Equity proponents view “disparate impact”—when the same policies yield different outcomes among demographic groups—as conclusive proof of discrimination. But nearly half a decade before that order was announced, the superintendent of St. Paul Public Schools had already embarked on a crusade to dismantle the purported “school-to-prison pipeline”—with disastrous effects for teachers and students. Read Katherine’s piece in the Winter 2017 Issue of City Journal, “No Thug Left Behind.”
