Schilling are a brewery based out of a picturesque brewhouse and taproom, sat right on the river in the little mountain town of Littleton, New Hampshire. With a focus on European styles, and a deep love of all things Lager. Something that I/we also have a deep love for. It was so cool to be able to sit down with Jeff and have this conversation face to face. Jeff and Zac came over especially to brew a collaboration with us, a Dunkel none the less. I'd met Zac way back at Friends Family & Beer when he was working at Trillium. We'd kept in touch and when I saw the amazing work he and the crew at Schilling were doing, I reached out to see if they wanted to brew something up together. They said yes, but if we're brewing we're coming! So we had the honour to host them here and show them a little bit of Manchesters beer scene.Enjoy and as ever... Stay Thirsty Hosted on Acast. The Creek War is one of the most tragic episodes in American history, leading to the greatest loss of Native American life on what is now U.S. soil. What began as a vicious internal conflict among the Creek Indians metastasized like a cancer. The ensuing Creek War of 1813-1814 shattered Native American control of the Deep South and led to the infamous Trail of Tears, in which the government forcibly removed the southeastern Indians from their homeland. The war also gave Andrew Jackson his first combat leadership role, and his newfound popularity after defeating the Creeks would set him on the path to the White House. My guest is international award-winning author Peter Cozzens. His book "A Brutal Reckoning: Andrew Jackson, the Creek Indians, and the Epic War for the American South" is the third in his trilogy about America's westward expansion. DescriptionAs the three year Eucharistic Revival began in 2022 in the U S. 50 different Catholic priests from around the country. We're commissioned and sent to preach: to announce again to the church that Jesus is Lord and that a perpetual sign of his love and mercy has been given to the church through the gift of his real presence in the Eucharist. When Jesus said just before he ascended into heaven, that he would be with us always. He meant it. Both in his personal ministry as a Bishop and as the head of the Eucharistic revival, my guest today on the podcast, Bishop Andrew Cozzens has great hope that this three-year journey isn't about starting a program, but rather about starting a fire; a fire of faith in Jesus Christ that will spread across the country and well into the future. In our conversation today, we discussed everything from the connection between preaching and belief in Jesus' real presence in the Eucharist, the unique history of Eucharistic congresses in America, what's on his bookshelf this month and why he doesn't keep old homilies on file. Bishop Andrew Cozzens, a proud graduate of Benedictine college in Atchison, KS served as a missionary for young people with both Twin Cities based NET ministries and the national college ministry Saint Paul's Outreach before entering seminary. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis in 1997. On December 6th, 2021, he was installed as the eighth Bishop of the Diocese of Crookston in northern Minnesota. He currently serves as the chair of the USCCB committee on evangelization and catechesis, where he has been tasked by the bishops with leading a three-year national Eucharistic Revival, which seeks to impact the U S church at every level strengthening Eucharistic belief and practice. For more information on the Eucharistic Revival - check out this link LinksFor more information about the Better Preach Podcast visit: www.ryanohara.org/betterpreachBetter Preach Podcast is now on YouTube. November 7, 1811. William Henry Harrison and his troops are camped near the Wabash river. They've been told to keep the peace—but Harrison wants land, and he's come here to try and take it. Less than a mile away is a flourishing Native American settlement called Prophetstown. It's led by Tecumseh, a skilled diplomat and warrior, and his brother Tenskwatawa, whose religious teachings have attracted indigenous people from across the newly-formed United States. Before dawn, these two sides will be in a battle that ends with one of their settlements burned to the ground. How did a future president exploit this conflict to catapult himself all the way to the White House? And how did Prophetstown become the most powerful alliance of Native American military, spiritual, and social forces to ever take on the US government? Thanks to our guests, Chief Ben Barnes; Peter Cozzens, author of Tecumseh and the Prophet: The Heroic Struggle for America's Heartland; and Stephen Warren, author of The Shawnees and Their Neighbors, 1795-1870. Chief Barnes and Stephen Warren are co-editors of the book, Replanting Cultures: Community-Engaged Scholarship in Indian Country. Look out for Cozzens' forthcoming book, A Brutal Reckoning: Andrew Jackson, The Creek Indians, and the Epic War for the American South. Thanks also to Douglas Winiarski, author of Darkness Falls on the Land of Light: Experiencing Religious Awakenings in Eighteenth-Century New England; and to Adam Jortner, author of The Gods of Prophetstown: The Battle of Tippecanoe and the Holy War for the American Frontier.
