As you listen to his story you will see the love of Jesus all over his life. Daniel wants people to see him for him and not the wheelchair. He has many quotable statements in this podcast but one that stuck out to me was he changed his why question to how. He learned to not ask why but "How can you use this in me."Daniel Carroll is a husband, pastor, and aspiring para-athlete.Professionally, Daniel is passionate about fostering positive spiritual, organizational, and relational health in churches.Personally, Daniel works to use his disability as a platform to share hope with others who find themselves in difficult situations, and to challenge people to find their strength and courage in Christ. Daniel lives in Central Virginia with his awesome wife Sarah, who works as a local coordinator for Child Evangelism Fellowship- a non-profit ministry that aims to bring the Gospel to kids through after school programs and church partnerships. Together, they work to inspire others to live up to the calling that God has placed on their lives, through conversations about ministry, marriage, and mobility.Support the show

There are over 600 times the word water is used in the Bible. That doesn't even include streams, rivers, and oceans. One of the reasons I prefer a pool to swim is so I can see below me and what is under me. One year my mom and I went to the beach in Florida. We began wadding out into the water and noticed somethings nibbling at our ankles. One of us would let out a little scream on occasion when we felt a little nibble. It was funny when it wasn't happening to me. I ended up getting a childrens net and swinging that around my ankles to keep the fish away.God created the heavens and the earth. He created water for us to survive as well as for enjoyment. Adult humans are made up of 60% water and our blood is 90% water. Since our bodies are made up of so much water, stop and take a drink.Do you prefer getting in a pool, lake, river, or ocean? Maybe one day I will get brave enough to go out into the ocean but for now I will stick with the pool.

Our minds get so piled up with negative thoughts, abuse, and hurtful words. We may need to call in the big machinery to help us work through the thoughts rolling around in our minds. My grandson loves big construction equipment like dump trucks, bulldozers, and front loaders. We go out for walks in their neighborhood where they are building more homes. We stop and look at the heavy machinery. They are much bigger when you get up close to them. They are designed to do the heavy work and heavy lifting. These machines are expensive to purchase or rent and require much effort to get them in place to do the work. These large pieces of equipment make the job of moving large boulders and lots of dirt at a time a easier task. A rock fragment greater than 10.1 inches is considered a boulder.Le Tourneau (l-EH-t-uu-r-n-oh) L-2350 is the biggest earthmover and according to the Guinness World Records it is the biggest earthmover ever built. The tires are 13 feet tall and five feet wide.  Just like bulldozers come through and clean up an area there may be times that we could use bulldozer to push out all the negative thoughts in our mind. We may need a good ole cleaning so we can start fresh.   In order to begin to move out the negativity and pain we will need to use some energy and effort to push into action.  Having hurts and abuse building up in our brains will take some power to gather and move the heavy-laden burdens and the piles of words and actions that have hurt us so badly.  Just sweeping the hurt and emotions under the rug with a cheap broom won't fix the problems. Five years after my son passed away, I was continuing to have panic attacks and post traumatic stress. I sought out a Christian counselor who helped me figure out what was deep in my mind that was allowing my pain to continue. Through journaling and talking we were able to unravel what was keeping me stuck in the mud. It was simply because I couldn't quit asking questions of the situation with my son passing.   It takes energy and effort to make a decision that you are going to get up and do something.

Monica Schmelter with Christian Television Network in Nashville, TN and the host of The Bridges show joins me for a podcast episode. We did a deep dive into Psalm 33. The richness of this Psalm comforted both of our hearts as we read it before the podcast and discussed it. I broke some of the verses up into sections so it would be easier to process some of the insights.Psalm 33:1-3 says, “Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous;     it is fitting for the upright to praise him. 2 Praise the Lord with the harp;     make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. 3 Sing to him a new song;     play skillfully, and shout for joy.” David wrote many songs. He poured out his heart when he was broken, but also when he was rejoicing. At times you can feel his pain and other times you could almost feel the joy bursting off the pages of the Bible. What is your favorite type of music? Have you ever thought about writing your thoughts down and creating a song? Do you play any instrument? 4 “For the word of the Lord is right and true;     he is faithful in all he does. 5 The Lord loves righteousness and justice;     the earth is full of his unfailing love.6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,     their starry host by the breath of his mouth. 7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars[a];     he puts the deep into storehouses. 8 Let all the earth fear the Lord;     let all the people of the world revere him. 9 For he spoke, and it came to be;     he commanded, and it stood firm.” Look a little closer at verse five. It says the Lord loves righteousness and justice: the earth is full of his unfailing love. We don't have to look far to see the love that God has poured into our world. The Lord spoke the heavens and earth into existence. Did you catch that? The Lord spoke and it came into existence! What is your favorite thing about creation? Do you have a favorite animal?  10 “The Lord foils the plans of the nations;     he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. 11 But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever,     the purposes of his heart through all generations.12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,     the people he chose for his inheritance. 13 From heaven the Lord looks down     and sees all mankind; 14 from his dwelling place he watches     all who live on earth— 15 he who forms the hearts of all,     who considers everything they do.” God knows the plans for today and our future steps. We don't know what each day will bring forth. God knows all that is going on in our world past, present and future. He knows what we are going through right this very minute. 16 “No king is saved by the size of his army;     no warrior escapes by his great strength. 17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;     despite all its great strength it cannot save. 18 But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,     on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, 19 to deliver them from death     and keep them alive in famine.”
