FAN MAIL--We would love YOUR feedback--Send us a Text MessageBishop Robert Barron's compact 138-page book "An Introduction to Prayer" delivers profound spiritual wisdom that far exceeds its modest length. Exploring the concept of contrition—literally "crushing" from Latin—we're guided through an unflinching examination of conscience using the Ten Commandments as our framework. The journey begins with confronting our fundamental spiritual orientation: Who or what do we truly worship? Everyone has an ultimate concern, but when that concern is anything other than God—whether sex, money, power, status, or our ego—we experience spiritual fragmentation. The examination becomes increasingly challenging as we move through commandments addressing speech about God, concrete worship practices, family relationships, and how we handle violence in our lives. As we progress deeper, the questions become more uncomfortable. How does sexuality serve as gift rather than self-indulgence in our lives? Do we steal, even in small ways? What is the quality of our speech—how often do we tear others down? Do we covet what others have, feeding the competitive conflicts that Rene Girard identified as the source of so much human suffering? Just as Jesus cleared the temple in Jerusalem, we're invited to identify what needs clearing from the temple of our souls.Holy Week provides the perfect opportunity for this spiritual inventory and house cleaning. For Catholics, the increased availability of the Sacrament of Reconciliation during this sacred time offers a concrete way to express contrition and experience God's mercy. Whether through formal confession or personal prayer, this spiritual exercise prepares us to fully celebrate the resurrection with renewed hearts. Remember, Christ waits for us, rich in mercy, ready to transform our brokenness into Easter joy.Key Points from the Episode:• The prayer of contrition involves honestly confronting our sins and their impact• The first commandments challenge us to examine what we truly worship• Honoring family relationships serves as a foundation for all other relationships• Questions about violence extend beyond physical harm to our speech and impact on others• Sexual ethics should center on gift and authentic love, not self-indulgence• Our speech patterns often reveal our tendency to tear others down• Coveting leads to competitive conflicts that damage human relationships• Jesus clearing the temple serves as a metaphor for spiritual house cleaning• Regular examination of conscience reorients our souls toward GodThis Holy Week, take time for honest self-examination and, for Catholics, visit the sacrament of reconciliation. Our Lord is waiting for you and is rich in mercy.Other resources: Want to leave a review? In Japan, cleanliness is cultural and synonymous with well-being. That's down in no small part to the influence of Shintoism, the country's oldest religion. While the number of believers has been steadily decreasing for some time, Shinto philosophy and culture are still widely practised. "Unmasking Treason & Triggering the Lazy: Bongino's FBI Role, DOGE Shake-Up, and Drag Queen Confessions" MG Show Episode – February 25, 2025 Hosted by Jeff and Shady In this explosive episode, Jeff and Shady dive into the latest hot topics shaking up the political and cultural landscape. The duo kicks off with a deep dive into Dan Bongino's new role at the FBI, unpacking the tension between personal issues and professional respect while adopting a wait-and-see stance on his next moves. Meanwhile, DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) stirs the pot with a bold question: “What do you do here?”—a challenge that's rattling bureaucrats and sparking debate. Jesse Watters takes center stage as we air his fiery segment on DOGE's latest move: a “What did you get done this week?” email demanding staff list five accomplishments. Jeff and Shady break it down, exploring how this simple question is triggering the left and exposing the lazy. The stakes get higher as the spoiled, entitled intelligence community threatens to leak state secrets to Russia if President Trump doesn't play nice—pushing treason into the public spotlight. DOGE's investigations and referrals to top law enforcement and Congress are peeling back layers of generational fraud that's drained America's wealth into a hidden machine. The hosts also spotlight a jaw-dropping “Why do you want to be a drag dancer?” segment, featuring a drag queen's candid admission about the perverse push to expose kids to their culture. Plus, Alina Habba joins FOX to explain DOGE's mission—we play the clip and weigh in with sharp commentary. Expect more hard-hitting insights and unfiltered takes as Jeff and Shady connect the dots on today's biggest stories. Our show opens with more financial conflicts associated with the Rhode Island judge who stands to lose millions in his non-profit if he were to allow Trump the ability to reduce fraud, waste and abuse. We also look at some of the recent house-cleaning taking place inside the DOJ. Elon Musk did a quick analysis of payouts flowing out of the Social Security Administration. Seems we have a millions of Americans who are living up to the age of 180! Also, we have more people getting paid than we have people who live in the United States. Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) thinks the panic in D.C. isn't just about wasted taxpayer monies, but the worry over where that paper trail leads. We then turn to CBS and their trifecta of stellar examples of state-run propaganda. We work in reverse order, discussing touching promotional piece in support of the USAID and the evil Trump plan to dismantle it. Then we turn to Germany, where they love punishing their citizens and locking them up for posts the government deems “offensive.” We culminate with CBS News's Margaret Brennen who believes free speech led to the Holocaust in WWII. Even Secretary of State Marco Rubio found her comment to laughable. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was asked if he was okay with DOGE looking into expenses at the DOD. His response was both supportive and brilliant. It showcases once again my befuddlement over why more Democrats don't jump on the DOGE bandwagon? As we wind down, we are gifted with another installment of Deep Thoughts with (former) VP Kamala Harris. We top that off with in-fighting inside the DNC after paid grifter David Hogg, newly elected as Vice Chair of the DNC, is using their mailing lists to ask for money to go to his own PAC. I cannot pop the popcorn fast enough. Please take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. Today is Mega-cap earnings Day, and there's also a lot of economic data to be revealed. Plus, this afternoon will see the latest announcement from the Federal Reserve. Expectations are for the Fed to hold firm on rates this time. Interestingly, despite Monday's selloff, money flows have continued to come into the markets. In fact, on Tuesday (1/28) the QQQ had its biggest inflow since 2021. Monday's market action was NOT the watershed event the bears were trying to make it out to be. Markets are not overbought yet; we're still on a solid buy signal. That's not to say a pullback can't happen; remember the lesson from December...and why it's important to pay attention to money flows, either direction. Hey, soccer fans! The Chicago Fire house cleaning continues under new Director of Sport and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter. This time, defense Tobias Salquist is on the outs, being transferred to FC Nordsjaelland of the Danish Superliga. Salquist will likely not be missed - he only appeared in 14 matches due to injuries - and when he played, looked like he could not keep up with the pace and physicality of MLS. In this episode, Nick also discusses the Philadelphia Union hiring new head coach Bradley Carnell. The former St. Louis City manager will likely play a high pressing style on the pitch, and off the pitch will likely agree with everything General Manager Ernst Tanner does. This hiring puts all the pressure on Tanner to get things right, or he'll likely be the next employee shown the door for the Union's failure. Tune in and join the conversation! Send us a textIn the time of Jeremiah the prophet, there was another prophet who was living in Babylon after the Babylonians took Jews captive from Israel a few years earlier. His name was Ezekiel. God showed Ezekiel what the leaders in Jerusalem were actually doing in God's temple. They were doing all kinds of evil in secret but in plain view before God and it resulted in their holy city being destroyed along with God's temple. God sees all. Even the things in our hearts and minds (Revelation 2:23). We, as believers, can't serve God faithfully when our own spiritual house is secretly harboring our wickedness. We need to clean house routinely to keep the wickedness out.
