Have you ever heard of Kintsugi? It's a Japanese art form that involves repairing broken pottery with gold or silver lacquer. The philosophy behind Kintsugi is that the broken pieces are not something to be hidden or discarded, but rather to be celebrated and honored. The mended pottery becomes even more beautiful and valuable, with the cracks and imperfections becoming part of its story. This philosophy can be applied to our own lives as well. Often, we strive for perfection and feel shame or embarrassment when we fall short. However, if we can embrace our imperfections and see them as part of our story, we can find beauty and value in our brokenness. Kintsugi teaches us that our imperfections don't diminish our worth; they are part of what makes us unique and valuable. So, let's embrace our imperfections and celebrate our broken pieces, for they are what make us truly beautiful. If you gained any value from this video, please consider liking and subscribing. #embracingimperfection #overcomingperfectionism #mindfulacceptance #findingbeautyinbrokenness #kintsugimindset #selfcompassion #selflove #mindfulnessmeditation #meditationjourney #imperfectlyperfect #stoicism #philosophy #mindfulness #meditation #imperfections #relaxing #calming #bodyscan #pottery

Today's meditation is about the stoic virtue of justice and how it can inform us in our relationships and communities. Many people, past and present, perceive the stoics as being emotionless and lacking empathy for others. But it becomes apparent after reading the Stoic texts that the philosophy is rooted in compassion, empathy, and love for others for the greater good. Marcus Aurelius said, “The act of dying is one of the acts of life.” Today's topic deals with death, more specifically that we all experience different types of death in our lives. Of course, we have death of the physical body, but also the death of the self within the human experience. Throughout our lives we have experienced the death of our ideas, memories, friendships, and identity many times. The Stoics taught us ways in which death should be viewed in order to live a good life. Welcome to Mindfully Stoic. A channel dedicated to increasing mindfulness through the lens of the ancient philosophy of Stoicism. Today's guided meditation is on the Buddhist concept of the non-toothache as described by Thich Nhat Hanh. The idea of non-toothache is to create a sense of mindfulness so that we can be both grateful and happy. If we are unable to be aware of our happiness, then we are unable to be happy. Awareness of what is going well in our lives can help get us out of the loop of negative thinking. What can an ancient philosophy teach us on modern issues like social media? While social media did not exist in the times of the stoics, the stoics provided wisdom on related subjects such as praise, idleness, and where to focus our attention. Today's session will strictly be on breath work, specifically a method called box breathing. This method is really easy to remember and easy to use throughout your day when you need to calm your body and mind. Box breathing is when you inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, exhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, and repeat. If you have difficulty with 4 seconds, you can modify it to 2 or 3 seconds per step. Welcome to Mindfully Stoic, a channel dedicated to increasing mindfulness through the lens of the ancient philosophy of Stoicism.Today's guided meditation is on the Stoic cardinal virtue of Courage. Stoic Courage can be defined by one's ability to live one's principles and values despite opposition. It is the opposite of cowardice, or the running away from one's fears and problems. For the stoic sage, vice is the only thing that should be feared because it is within our power to avoid. We might experience impressions or impulses of fear when our automatic, habitual responses take over momentarily. However, we can decide if we need to give assent to these impressions and act accordingly with courage. Hello everyone and Welcome Back to Mindfully Stoic Channel. Our channel is dedicated to increasing mindfulness through the lens of the ancient philosophy of Stoicism.Interest in meditation, mindfulness, and contemplation has grown exponentially in recent years. For millions around the world, mindfulness has become a life-style choice, enhancing and enriching everyday experience. This guided meditation is on the idea of non-attachment taught in various religions and philosophies such as Buddhism, Taoism, and Stoicism. Non-attachment can be described as the overcoming of emotional clinging to ideas, identities, externals, and things outside of our control. By not attaching ourselves to these things we can experience less suffering and more empathy for others. Prior to discussing non-attachment, I will quote Alan Watts to help ground ourselves in the present moment. Thanks for watching!✨

For millions around the world, mindfulness has become a life-style choice, enhancing and enriching everyday experience. What is the meaning of the Stoic practice of Amor Fati? Stoicism is an excellent framework for modern life, the ideas are simple on the surface, but the value can be profound. Amor Fati is the practice of accepting and embracing everything that has happened, is happening, and is yet to happen. It is understanding that the nature of the universe is change, and that without change we would not exist, our relationships would not exist, we wouldn't laugh, cry, love, create, or grow. We would not experience any of this. This guided meditation on Amor Fati (the love of one's fate) draws upon the wisdom of Nietzche, Epictetus, Albert Camus, Marcus Aurelius, and Gandalf. Thanks for watching!✨

For millions around the world, mindfulness has become a life-style choice, enhancing and enriching everyday experience.Today's guided meditation is about ego and how we can eliminate it. Ego is difficult to define but can be summarized by our false sense of self that seeks for approval, engages in self-deception, and places blame on others for one's own mistakes. Having an over inflated ego can damage relationships and prevent one from realizing their true potential. Thanks for watching!✨

Welcome to Mindfully Stoic; a channel dedicated to increasing mindfulness through the lens of the ancient philosophy of Stoicism. Today's guided meditation deals with time and how it is the most valuable possession we possess. Our ability to perceive time in the future tense is both a blessing and a curse. We are a living contradiction in that we know that we will die, yet we live as if we have unlimited days. We would do well to do all in our power to live the lives we want to lead with the time given to us. Welcome to Mindfully Stoic; a channel dedicated to increasing mindfulness through the lens of the ancient philosophy of Stoicism. Today's guided meditation will be on indifference regarding the thoughts of others. As human beings and social creatures, we often orient our lives so we can get praise and avoid criticism of those within our social circle. The Stoics taught that we should focus on the opinion we have of ourselves instead of attempting to seek others for validation and approval. P.S. Welcome to Mindfully Stoic; a channel dedicated to increasing mindfulness through the lens of the ancient philosophy of Stoicism. For today's guided meditation, we will be discussing the topic of anger and advice on how to deal with this emotion. Anger can cause lasting negative consequences if we are not careful and learn to manage it. Within the Stoic framework, anger usually arises due to our skewed value judgements. As stoics, we need to practice the discipline of assent, or stoic mindfulness, to evaluate if our opinions and judgments are in accordance with reason and sound logic. Welcome to Mindfully Stoic; a channel dedicated to increasing mindfulness through the lens of the ancient philosophy of Stoicism. This guided meditation concerns the Stoic virtue of temperance, also known as moderation. As you may recall, the Stoics had 4 cardinal virtues by which they lived. These virtues are Courage, Temperance, Wisdom, and Justice. Today we will focus on temperance which is the avoidance of excess and extremes and how that relates to our day and age. Temperance isn't meant to be less pleasure but the way to bring about lasting pleasure. This idea is related to Aristotle's Golden Mean of virtue, or the Middle Way as described by the Buddha. Welcome to Mindfully Stoic; a channel dedicated to increasing mindfulness through the lens of the ancient philosophy of Stoicism. This week's meditation is on the Discipline of Assent, which is one of three disciplines within Stoic Philosophy (the other two being discipline of action and discipline of desire). The Discipline of Assent involves monitoring the conscious and subconscious value-judgments that we place on external events and acting in accordance with reason and nature. In other words, we give ourselves time to analyze these implicit value-judgments that we create and decide if we assent or agree with them. This Discipline is designed to prevent us from acting irrationally and it allows us to make correct judgments concerning the nature or reality of the world. It is proactively living a virtuous life and helping in whatever capacity we can toward the common good of all. Welcome to Mindfully Stoic; a channel dedicated to increasing mindfulness through the lens of the ancient philosophy of Stoicism. This week's topic is based on the Stoic idea of Praemediatio Malorum or Negative Visualization. This mindfulness exercise is designed to help you deal with the ups and downs of life. With this stoic practice, you can become more resilient for when those trials and tribulations come knocking on your door, and at the same time, you can become more grateful for your current circumstances. This exercise will help you become more mentally prepared for the obstacles of life and take away the element of surprise for when unfavorable things happen. By doing this, we can be better equipped to make skillful decisions and live a more virtuous, fulfilled life. Welcome to Mindfully Stoic; a channel dedicated to increasing mindfulness through the lens of the ancient philosophy of StoicismToday's topic is a mental exercise called the View from Above. This exercise can help us realize the impermanent and interdependent nature of life. It can allow us to realize how connected we are to the universe as a whole. It can give us a sense of awe, wonder, and humility by contemplating the grandeur of the cosmos. One way to incorporate this in your daily life is to practice being an outside observer throughout the day to break out of habitual reactivity. For example, if you feel yourself getting angry, or if you're wasting time watching too much tv then you can take a moment and “observe” yourself to reflect on if you are acting virtuously or not.
