Splitting of a whole into exactly two non-overlapping parts; dyadic relations and processes
This is the first week of our annual Halloween month of creepy shows! The boys provide a true appreciation of the grim and ghastly as they don all black garb, guy-liner, and a healthy dose of black no. 1 on their mop tops. That's right, everything turns grey as they, once again, explore the dark and ethereal world of Goth Rock…What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. Robert is forced to test his endurance and provide feedback, as he has no idea what he will be subjected to every week. Our hope is that we turn you on to something that was lost on your ears, or something you've simply forgotten about, or that (in our opinion) should have been the next big thing.Songs this week include:The 69 Eyes – “Gothic Girl” from Blessed Be (2000)Rosegarden Funeral Party – “Fear Of Feeling Nothing” from At The Stake - EP (2020) The Damned – “Tailspin” from Not Of This Earth (1996)Red Lorry Yellow Lorry – “Strange Dream” from Talk About The Weather (1985)H.I.M. – “Beyond Redemption” from Love Metal (2003)The Prophetess – “All I Want” from Dichotomy (1996)Gene Loves Jezebel – “Evening Star” from Kiss Of Life (1990)The Swear – “Echo Park” from The Swear (2005)If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://twitter.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=u
Learning to separate emotions from logic is a crucial part of business and life. On today's Q&AF episode, Andy talks about the dichotomy between critical thinking and vision, tells the story of why he started his first business back in 1999 and how to determine if hiring a family member is a smart idea.
In this episode, the missing piece that Paul and Angie talk about is dichotomy of thought .They explain that most of the world falls into a gray area, but that there are some key black and white areas in the way you think. They also discuss running your thoughts through a filter to determine if they are empowering and serving you or if they are disempowering and not serving you.Listen in and enjoy the show! For more info go to https://www.antidiet.co/

Uneducated people blame others when they are doing badly. Those whose education is underway blame themselves. But a fully educated person blames no one, neither himself nor anyone else. (Ench 5) In Episode 35, I covered the first part of Encheiridion 5, where Epictetus added death to the list of things outside of our full control and, therefore, not inherently bad. If you've listened to Stoicism on Fire for a while or read my Traditional Stoicism blog, you likely understand this concept, which is frequently called the Dichotomy of Control, and you've probably been attempting to adopt this Stoic mindset toward externals. However, understanding this concept intellectually and putting it into practice are entirely different things. COMPLETE SHOW NOTES WILL BE AVAILABLE SOON

Like the podcast? Show support for Nialler9 on Patreon Yes, Donda, Kanye West's tenth studio album finally arrived but not without a lot of baggage, abhorrent endorsements, and questions about its eventual release. Both myself (Niall) and Andrea felt queasy about directly reviewing art that platforms alleged abusers, assaulters and homophobes. So while Kanye has moved from red hats to red flags, we took a different tack to a traditional review. We look at Donda in the context of Kanye's career, and particularly his tumultuous last few years and how his art and his status has changed, how Kanye has abandoned traditional releases in favour of ever-shifting, unsettled tracklists, "listening parties" and albums. How publicly showing your music to the public before "release" makes everyone an executive producer. We look at the rollout, how the platforming of Marilyn Manson, DaBaby and Chris Brown in particular make Kanye a hollow evangelical edgelord, raise questions about engaging with popular music and art, from both a critic and fan perspective. Andrea and I discuss Kanye the rapper, Kanye the producer and Kanye the artist. We talk the dichotomy of Donda - an album ostensibly about his mother, is found quite lacking in that regard, and how Kanye has subsumed aspects of his religion into his music, while not holding the values of that faith to account on this very long release. Today I'm joined by CEDH theorist and Monowhite afficionado Charles Zhuang for a talk that, well, went places I did not expect, skipping the topic of white entirely to concentrate more on the idea of what it means to be on the casual or competitive side of Commander. This is a very cerebral, and very interesting, chat.

To begin this week's episode, Tony Flow and The Navajo Hammer break down their pre-race jitters before they run the 5k Tough Mudder in Littleton, CO. If you haven't heard of this annual race, it is something that everyone should add to their bucket list! Additionally, just as the name implies, this week Tony Flow and The Navajo Hammer cover some bullet points that Jocko Willink and Leif Babin discuss in their book Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead And Win. Confident not cocky. Courageous but not foolhardy. These are just a couple of the topics that these two discuss and provide interesting insight and experience. Somewhat of a segue into their next book The Dichotomy of Leadership, these are important and undeniably critical characteristics of great leadership. NOTE: Watch the video version of this report by subscribing to our YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/c/TheRealInvestmentShow (7/28/21) Why markets are annoying: Markets are over-extended, and a dichotomy between the major markets and their lesser brothers on Wall Street. S&P in a very bullish trend with a buy signal in place; NASDAQ bouncved off 20-DMA yesterday, also very positive. But...underlying indexes aren't doing as well--and a buy signal that doesn't offer much to buy is worth, what? International stocks have nothing really happening, despite money flows. This week, Anna (https://twitter.com/AnnaRRose) and Josh (https://twitter.com/acityinohio) chat with Jill Gunter (https://twitter.com/jillrgunter) (nèe Carlson), a well-known investor and crypto advocate, to dive deep into the eternal dilemma of privacy vs. transparency and how ZKPs can finally give us the tools to be more nuanced about our society's approach to privacy. Starting from Jill's background as a bond trader on Wall Street, the conversation quickly shifts into how the need for transparency in the financial system and the ability to root out bad actors clashes with the need to maintain individual privacy. This topic touches aspects such as crypto & DeFi privacy, how regulation may be applied to them, and why ZKPs and their power of selective disclosure can change the paradigm of privacy. Great coaches and great leaders are those that can find the balance between seemingly opposing ideas or attributes. Great coaches know how to strike a balance between being caring and being commanding. They are great at building 1-on-1 relationships, but also great at managing large groups. They balance seriousness and professionalism with the ability to be playful and fun. They create a class experience that feels full and worth the money, but doesn't feel crammed or rushed. They take complex ideas and find ways to communicate them as simply as possible. Because of this dichotomy that exists, it's very rare to find a single piece of advice that will help 100% of the coaches out there. Some coaches need to focus more on 1-on-1 connections, while other coaches need to stop getting stuck in individual conversations or corrections while the group is waiting. Other coaches need to be more serious and professional, while someone they coach with may need to be more relaxed and lighthearted. The goal is to be able to embrace these seemingly opposite attributes, and strike a balance that fits with the audience we are working with in that moment. In this week's episode, we discuss how to adopt these characteristics in a way that will make you a better coach, leader, and teammate.

Hi everyone. I hope you are doing well wherever you are. As I mentioned previously, I am currently part of the Rogers Art Loft residency in Las Vegas and they have been putting me in touch with the local community and helping me meet people for the podcast. I have been speaking with quite a number of wonderful artists and cultural workers and these conversations will be released throughout the summer and upcoming fall season. For today, I am excited to share with you the first one of these talks as I speak with Shahab Zargari, an Iranian-American filmmaker, record label owner, and musician. Shahab takes me through his journey from working in advertising to making his own independent films and what drives him to tell the stories that he tells. We also talk about the pronunciation of names, Iranian films, Mad Men, and how he got a shoutout from Kevin Smith. Shahab also talks about his latest short film, Oh, the Guilt, which is a coming-of-age story set in the 1990s featuring a Persian-American as the main character. The plot tackles death, loss, and survivor's guilt, elements of the human condition that transcend age, race, and creed. Check it out if you have the chance. Again, this episode was made possible through the Rogers Art Loft residency and I want to thank them for this opportunity. I hope you all enjoy this. The Mets hanging on with bad hitting, can they turn it around and become a true contender? We've all heard of the Starlets from the Hollywood Golden Age and they've reached a level of icon that is completely unheard of and unmatched even today. However, do we know about their lives? Do we ever consider the nuances of the way they're perceived? In this episode, we dive into the lives of four of the world's biggest stars, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and Doris Day. We also talk about how these four women were shoved into stereotypes, with contracts stricter than the Disney channel, and how they're consistently screwed over by the media, even today.Check out the blog we referenced hereWant to check out some of our favorite books? There are many ways people try to project their pain onto others, but for many people/kids, it's bullying. Bullying doesn't just hurt others but also hurts those that inflict the pain. This can result in deep-seated mental and emotional issues that can play a part in someone's life from youth onward. With that being said, sit back, listen, learn, and laugh as the crew breaks down bullying and share touching stories of experiences and the mental strain they have suffered. While you may hear laughter and jokes, remember that Bullying is wrong and hurts everyone involved. #lsppodcast #lovessparrow #lsplove'ssparrowfeelgoodpodcast Listen to the LSP Love's Sparrow Feel Good Podcast Every Monday at 8 pm EST on all platforms. Born in Cali, Colombia, Carolina Ravassa has appeared on The Affair opposite Dominic West, Mr. Robot with Bobby Cannavale & Rami Malek, and has done a few shorts with Reggie Watts. She produced, directed, and starred in the webseries Hispanglosaxon, which won an Imagen Award for Best Webseries. She is known for her voice work in the video games Overwatch (Sombra), Valorant (Raze), Grand Theft Auto V (Taliana Martinez), Max Payne III, Red Dead Redemption II, Just Cause 4 and voices on Big City Greens (Disney), Victor and Valentino (Cartoon Network), Loud House (Nickelodeon) and Netflix. She also worked on Step Up 3-D and Maybe Tomorrow. In this podcast Carolina and I chat about her personal life, more specifically about the end of a ten year relationship at the same time as her character of Sombra, of Overwatch, was becoming very well known. Going to comic cons, being with fans and surrounded with outpouring of love and support, was a dichotomy to her emotional life at that time. We talk about how people overlook "breakups" and think you "should move on" from them and not see that a breakup is just as hard as a divorce. There are so many layers of grief in breakups that are overlooked in society at times. There are a few books I've read that are related to what we're talking about today, including “Dichotomy of Leadership” and “Extreme Ownership”. This episode is all about sharing what I learned from these books, and what exactly happened that led to a major mistake. Plus, I'll be sharing what we're doing differently at AdKings now as a result. On this episode: Why you need to communicate goals to all stakeholders. Monitor progress with clients, but don't elaborate on execution. What a leader needs to do, good or bad. Why empowerment and trust are important in team relationships. Two things effective leaders always do. What happens to a team when a leader micromanages them? Negative results from a team leader being too hands-off. How you can inspire your team to make their own decisions. How and why we lost two clients in 2020. What happened with the team member involved with these two lost accounts. What we do differently with our clients now. The process we have in place to focus on profitability and keep the clients happy. Why you should read “Dichotomy of Leadership” and “Extreme Ownership”. --- Apply for a Discovery Call With Us: ➤ www.adkings.agency/intro - Want us personally to help to grow your eCommerce business to 8 or even 9-figures? This episode, recorded off of the mat, addresses how our deepest dichotomies may usurp our training. It draws attention to how we often come to training out of dichotomy and how this original dichotomy may continue to function throughout our training, stopping us from progressing to our fullest potential in the art. “We want to fail early, and we want to fail often. But more importantly, we want to fail small. So how do we fail small? It's by not over-committing to things that we don't fully understand.” – Jocko Willink On this episode of The Leadership Locker, we take a look back to Rich's interview with podcaster and Echelon Front CEO Jocko Willink, where they talked about pooling resources and mitigating risk. Listen as Jocko and Rich discuss leadership, patience, and how to avoid blind spots in business. Jocko Willink is a retired U.S. Navy SEAL officer, co-author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win, Dichotomy of Leadership, host of the top-rated Jocko Podcast, and co-founder of Echelon Front, where he serves as Chief Executive Officer, leadership instructor, speaker and strategic advisor. Jocko spent 20 years in the SEAL Teams, starting as an enlisted SEAL and rising through the ranks to become a SEAL officer. Upon retiring from the Navy, Jocko co-founded Echelon Front, a premier leadership consulting company, where he teaches the leadership principles, he learned on the battlefield to help others lead and win. Dichotomy, in a nutshell, is the categorizing of two opposing things separately; like birds and fish. Lately, I've been feeling many opposing emotions since losing my mom. It's because of this that I've discovered that there is great dichotomy within us. In fact, I think we hold more than just two opposing feelings, but rather several. Here's the thing, we can do that and do it well. It doesn't make you a hypocrite nor does it make you inauthentic. Instead it make you human. And through grace we can give ourselves and others permission to be multi-faceted, just as we were created to be.
