Discussions about Minnesota United FC (Loons), Major League Soccer (MLS), The Premiere League (EPL) and everything else soccer! Shows hosted by a combination of The Crafty Rogues (John Cosgrove and Stephen Quinn), Jonathan Harrison, Jamie Watson, Callum Williams and more!
The SKOR North United podcast is a fantastic source of information on soccer, but it also covers a wide range of other topics. The chemistry between the hosts is incredible and listening to them feels like you're right there with them at the British pub, engaged in lively conversation. I've been following this podcast for over a year now and it has truly become a highlight of my weekly routine. Whether I'm stuck in traffic during my afternoon commute or simply looking for something entertaining to listen to, these guys never fail to deliver.
One of the best aspects of The SKOR North United podcast is the lighthearted and fun atmosphere that the hosts create. They have an incredible ability to make their listeners feel included in their discussions about football (soccer). Their charm and interesting personalities shine through as they break down various aspects of the sport, providing insightful analysis and engaging commentary. It's not just limited to soccer though; they cover other topics as well, which adds variety to each episode and keeps things interesting.
While The SKOR North United podcast excels in many areas, it does have some shortcomings. One potential downside is that having prior knowledge of soccer might enhance your listening experience. While it's not necessary to be deeply familiar with the sport, some discussions may go over the heads of casual fans or those who are new to soccer. However, this minor drawback can easily be overcome by doing some quick research or simply enjoying the banter and camaraderie among the hosts.
In conclusion, The SKOR North United podcast is an hour well spent each week. With its charming and interesting hosts, it offers a delightful blend of soccer analysis and general conversation that appeals to both die-hard fans and those who simply enjoy entertaining content. It's like being around your funniest friends for an hour in a bar every week, and I eagerly look forward to each new episode. Whether you're into soccer or just looking for an engaging podcast to pass the time, I highly recommend giving The SKOR North United podcast a listen.
Dave "Moose" Muslof was our special guest this week. It is not every week you hang with someone who has had a Papal blessing (thanks to a couple of Aussies) and a moment with the Queen. These and many other yarns spun like New Zealand wool in what was a rather chatty edition of the podcast. Enjoy at your leisure.
This week on The Crafty Rogues, John Cosgrove is joined by longtime listener, first-time guest, Aiden Benedict Scanlan!Aiden shares stories about the Scanlan family's 100+ year history in the Twin Cities, from his grand-uncle's arrival in 1910 to the family's deep roots in the local Irish community. Also covered in no particular order:Ireland's disappointing Six Nations rugby match against FranceThe best spots to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in the Twin Cities (hint: avoid places that call it "Patty's Day"!)How the Rock of Gibraltor destroyed Man UnitedStay away from German bollix biters. You're welcome.
The boys revealed some pretty big news this week. We'll give you a hint; this is the second-to-last show in its current format. We'll give you another hint; not only is this the second-to-last show in its current format, it's also an absolute craic-fest!
Jet lag, shmet lag! The show must go on, and it did. The boys touched on topics as diverse as wine, beer, Leon Bridges, Sharon Horgan, colonialism, Vini Jnr, Erling Haaland, Danny Welbeck, flight cancellation protocol, and...wait for it...Troy Parrott. Yes, THAT Troy Parrott!
Quinno's jet lag be damned, the boys were in sparkling form this week. Especially if you're a fan of the Calm app, the North Sydney Bears, political optimism, Olympic backstories, and the Fermanagh women's GAA football team. Let's be honest, who isn't?
Now that the dust has settled after the end of the Premier League campaign, the boys thought it was time to take a look back at the season as a whole. That, of course, means a visit from the great Carl Craig. Have some!
In this week's episode we learn about John's Mother's Day side gig, international art installations, what you can do with a Business degree, the petulance of substituted players, and the Stations of the Croissant. Despite all of that, this was still a very entertaining show. Go figure.
In this one episode, you get a music review, a brilliant football transfer idea, news on the Methodist church, a comment on the current unrest on college campuses, and a considered opinion on Kenny Hibbitt's looks. You know why you get all that? 'Cos it's a Crafty Rogues episode, that's why!
There's good food in San Antonio...Bernardo Silva looked like he hadn't slept for a week...ANZAC Day is a big deal in 'Straya...and if you're the Watford manager, rent don't buy. There, that sums up this week's show quite nicely. Proceed with caution.
The boys were joined in the studio by Andrea Yoch, co-founder and board member of Minnesota Aurora FC. The Aurora's story is a compelling one, and it's doubtful that anyone tells it better than Andrea. This is great stuff.
On this week's show we learned what St. Recovery Day is...it was revealed that Totti loves pineapple on pizza...and there's a growing call for John to be an ambassador for Aer Lingus. It's basically only John and Quinno making that call, but still.
There was a distinct St. Patrick's theme about this week's show, what with the day itself on the horizon, and the imminent arrival of St. Patrick's Athletic FC to take on Minnesota United on Wednesday at Allianz Field. The boys had a chat about both, and were joined by St. Patrick's Athletic's Technical Director, Alan Mathews. Quality craic!
It's not very often that Barry White, The Ramones, Rugby League, Steve Archibald, and Larry Cunningham's 'Lovely Leitrim' are mentioned in the same show. But they all get a shout out in this one. Proceed at your own risk.
Callum Williams was the special guest on this week's show, and he was as entertaining and informative as always. Cosgrove and Quinno did quite well too, in their own Crafty way.
Things to know about this week's show: John played hurt...Quinno can't pronounce Gaelic names...there's a new boss at MN Utd FC...and Air Pardons are the hottest sneakers on the market. It's an understatement to say we live in interesting times.
In a week full of Super Bowl recaps, Quinno's pension eligibility, and football/futbol/soccer/sahhkerrr news, the biggest story of the week by far was Cosgrove's new coffee table. No, seriously.
On this week's show we learned about rugby, the future of French football, the demise of bands at the Grammys, and Graham Norton's latest career move. But, above all, we learned that Valentine's Day is Kevin Keegan's birthday. Breathtaking.
As one mighty Quinno set off south for a work gig, a fill-in Quinn so to speak. The man who played top level football for Arsenal, Man City and Sunderland as well as 92 times for Ireland landed in the Crafty Rogues studio for a chat. Adventures in football and football culture as well as highlighting his latest project, Team Taca. You can find more info on Team Taca at teamtaca.com. For now enjoy the chat, John sure did! (This special episode is dedicated to one of our biggest fans, Nudie).
It was quite a week for John! He wore shorts in San Diego. He had Niall Quinn in his basement. (Seriously!) And he's going to snub the Oscars. Quinno has yet to declare his Oscars intentions. The world holds its breathOh what a lonely Roy." And for the blurb "It was quite a week for John! He wore shorts in San Diego. He had Niall Quinn in his basement. (Seriously!) And he's going to snub the Oscars. Quinno has yet to declare his Oscars intentions. The world holds its breath.
Before John flew out to top up his tan in California, the boys pre-recorded a chat with raconteur, bon vivant, and ex-pat Spurs fan Danny Stockton. This is some quality craic!
The boys delivered a tasty show ahead of John's mid-podcast season winter break on the west coast. Ground was covered. Opinions were offered. Points were made. Craic was had. Have at it!
With Carl Craig as a guest, this was always going to be a football-centric show, and yet here are three of the biggest takeaways: It's the collective over the individual...chocolate solves the problems of the world...and US Newcastle Brown Ale is not the same as UK Newcastle Brown Ale. We demand answers!
The boys closed out the year in fine style with musings and observations on Rob Edwards (good), Bruno Fernandes (not so good), Mother Nature (not to be messed with), the new Minnesota state flag (your call), and Wynton Rufer (look him up). Oh, and the boys are bringing NYE back. So, enjoy it.
Festivus for the rest of us! The boys were in festive form the week before Christmas. Along with the usual football/futbol/soccer/sahhkerrr talk, there were rare mentions of Bruce Hornsby, Jim Reeves, Beyonce, and Scritti Politti. Yep, Scritti Politti. Look 'em up.
John revealed an outstanding holiday season hack...a professional athlete displayed some creative accounting skills...and Quinno kept calling Cristian Romero 'Sergio'...Clearly, it's been a long year. It's a pretty tasty show, just the same.
Here's a partial list of topics on this week's show: beige flags, Hobnobs, the Premier League TV deal, Luis Suarez, Taylor Swift, Mayo (the county, not the condiment), Christine Sinclair, Trevor Noah, and Ange Postecoglou's rizz. Look it up.
Try finding all of these topics in the same podcast: Downtown Saint Paul...nametags...stolen champagne...kidnapped KitKats...xenophobia...Billy Connolly...Gaelic football. Actually, don't bother looking. Just listen to this week's Crafty Rogues episode instead. Tasty.
This show went a bit 'off piste' and then some. Topics discussed included Blindboy, Derry Girls, Spanish tax authorities, Father TED Talks, funerals, Everton's points deduction, and Thanksgiving. Basically, the craic was mighty!
John's in Ireland. Quinno's not. And the show references Sligo pubs, David Cameron, Bruce Lee, Gotham FC, French fashion, dressing room politics, muscle memory, and Brendan from the rental car desk. You know, the usual
John's about to be on tour back home. Harry Kane wears football boots he can't pronounce. And Megan Rapinoe will close out her career on the stage she's built for. Really, was there ever any doubt?
There should be something for everyone in this week's show. Especially fans of Queen concerts, Kansas City, Korean movies set in Minnesota, Eddie Nketiah's mum, quality art, and kangaroos attacking dogs. Have at it.
Sahhkerrr, the weather, Dundalk/Fundalk, politics, slack jawed yokels, and the merits/perils of AI. All of these get a mention this week. Plus, Quinno said Harry Kane when he meant Harry Maguire. Which one needs an apology?
If you're interested in things like Scott McTominay's nationality, why fans boo, why Italy shouldn't wear Adidas, Indian cricket, and welding, this is the show for you. If not, it's still the show for you.
This week's show was many things: it was silly...it was serious...it was funny...there was a revelation/epiphany...but above all, it was quality craic. Have at it.
The Crafty Rogues are not afraid to ask the tough questions. Why did Cosgrove have to eat humble pie? What has happened to the FIFA World Cup? And why were Newcastle wearing white shorts at home? Like we said, tough questions!
The sorrowful mysteries, sheepskin jackets, Father Ted, arguing with a chat bot, football, Gaelic football, Australian football, rugby, skydiving, USWNT icons, and nerds on stage. But wait, there's more!
John was on the road this week, but the tyranny of distance didn't stop the boys delivering a belter of a show, albeit from separate locations. Ain't technology grand!
There was a point where this week's show jumped from the VMAs, to see-through dresses, to pregnancy tests and contraception, to the Rugby World Cup. The thing is, it all seemed quite logical. You really should listen.
The boys did a quick preview of the Rugby World Cup this week, and got some assistance from an actual Rugby World Cup winner! But rest assured, there was plenty of football/futbol/soccer/sahhkerrr and general craic as well!
To explain this week's show, let's just use a direct quote from Cosgrove. 'Margaret Thatcher, hunger strikers, the Spanish FA...you get them all on the Crafty Rogues.' And there you have it.
Special bonus episode where Cosgrove chats to Irish comedy and acting star, Ardal O'Hanlon. Lots of people will know him as Fr Dougal Maguire from the cult comedy series, Father Ted. He has also appeared in numerous other shows and documentaries, including more recently, Derry Girls! These two border county men had a long an winding chat about growing up on either side of the border between Co. Monagan and Co. Fermanagh. Definitely more of a chat than your usual interview dynamic. Enjoy and you can also see Ardal live in Minneapolis on September 23rd. More details on the Crafty Rogues FB and Instagram Page.
The Crafty Rogues can never be accused of staying in their lane. This week's show covers everything from Pickleball to border patrols to facial injuries to Rudy Giuliani. Dare we say it, it's laneless.
