Listeners of Straight Out of Home Video that love the show mention: took me back, huge disney,Vanessa, Candace, Arezou, and Chelsea talk about the first Disney Channel Original Christmas Movie, The Ultimate Christmas Present. Did you know Ariel came face to face with dinosaurs? We're looking back at the 90s animated TV series The Little Mermaid.Ariel is a teenage mermaid who lives under the sea with her father, the sea king, her six sisters, and various friends. Together, they try to keep harm away from Atlantica as enemies try to ruin their peaceful kingdom. Ariel takes viewers on underwater adventures into caves, meeting humans and singing songs. Among Ariel's animal friends are Sebastian, a crab who acts as a babysitter for Ariel, and Ariel's best friend, a tropical fish named Flounder. Based on the popular 1989 Disney animated feature film.
Vanessa and Candace marvel how this movie was even made. Kirk Cameron does act his heart out, we'll give him that.
Vanessa, Candace, and Maggie discuss this DCOM classic for St. Patrick's Day. Wear your green and join us on this nostalgic ride that shows us if it wasn't hard enough being high school, how about if you also were a leprechaun who depended on a magic coin to be cool? Sláinte!
Perhaps one of the most beloved of our DCOM movies, Zenon is the focus of our discussion today! Reminisce with Waffles Vanessa, Candace, and Krista. Zoom zoom zoom!
Candace, Arezou and Krista breakdown the characters and relationship in season one of Willow.
A DCOM holiday movie starring Bryan Cranston, that's all we need to say.
It's our last straight-to-home-video episode before we switch to DCOMs!Today, Candace, Vanessa and Mack are talking about Brother Bear 2. They talk about how strange it is to have non-indigenous people voice indigenous characters, how unnecessary and weird the story is, and the trope of transforming for true love.
We watched it and regret it. In an Italian village, the wooden puppet Pinocchio is brought to life by the Blue Fairy and seeks the life of adventure while striving to be a real boy. Pinocchio's life is turned upside down when he leaves his father to follow the circus.
I AM GROOT! We had to watch the latest short films on Disney+ starring the cutest tree you have ever seen. The mischievous toddler Baby Groot learns to grow up amongst the trouble in the stars along with the help of his friends and family in the ragtag superhero team, the Guardians of the Galaxy. We also discuss the Marvel characters we would like in a series of short films.
This week, Arezou and Candace are talking about the Phineas And Ferb Star Wars double episode. They talk homages, catchy music, and speculate about how the series might continue some day.
There are a hundred and four days of summer vacation and we spent one with Phineas and Ferb! We answer the question we all have asked. Is Dr. Doofenshmirtz the hero of the show? Why does Candace want to bust her brothers? Is Perry the Platypus the greatest secret agent?
Chip and Dale live amongst cartoons and humans in modern-day Los Angeles, but their lives are quite different now. When a former cast mate mysteriously disappears, Chip and Dale must repair their broken friendship and save their friend. This week, Candace, Arezou and Hope talk about their favourite parts of the movie, compared the world building to other stories, and discuss the controversy behind Peter Pan.
We watched a movie that Disney hasn't bothered putting on Disney Plus yet. Disney Princess Enchanted Tales: Follow Your Dreams was the first and only film released for a planned Disney Princess Enchanted Tales series of direct-to-video films, each featuring new stories about the Disney Princesses. This film features new stories about Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty and Princess Jasmine from Aladdin.
We're seeing spots! Candace is joined by her fellow Waffles Hope and Mack to talk about Disney's 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure. They were surprised by many things dalmatians related. While Candace's dog was upset by the portrayal of corgis as villains.
After thoroughly enjoying the last Recess movie, "Taking the Fifth Grade," Candace and Arezou are disappointed by "All Growed Down." In this shorter episode, they talk about the inappropriate portrayal of kindergarteners and the movie's analogy for colonization.
Sadly all good things must someday come to an end. Today, Candace and Arezou are talking about Recess: Taking the Fifth Grade, the series finale to the popular 90s Disney cartoon. Together, they relive the joy of Saturday morning cartoons, marvel at how well it all fits together, and wonder what kind of Board of Education budget pays for a James Bond-type agent.
Reba McEntire and Patrick Swayze play singing dogs, exactly what you would think the sequel to the Fox and the Hound would have. Candace and Mack watched this 2006 direct-to-home film where Copper and Todd take the backseat to the Singin' Stray band.
This is one our shorter episodes, but this was a very short movie! Coming in at 65 minutes we have a couple of things to say about Rabbit, Roo and Tigger. We also read some extremely harsh reviews from Rotten Tomatoes. No one, even Winnie the Pooh, is safe from online critics.
Lilo and Stitch are back in what might be the best direct to video Disney movie yet! This week Candace, Bri and Arezou process Stitch's existential crisis, draw comparisons to the Emoji movie and agree that David is the best Disney Boyfriend and that Myrtle is the literal worst.
We're continuing watching Stitch sequels with the 2006 movie Leroy and Stitch, which surprisingly doesn't have many Stitch in it. Another surprise, Bri compares Captain Gantu to Kylo Ren. We also find out why Myrtle is so mean and that Stitch has a girlfriend named Angel? Thank goodness for Disney Wiki. Our next episode will be Lilo and Stitch 2!
Hop in your spaceship, we're going experiment hunting! This week, Candace, Bri and Arezou are talking Stitch, the 2003 backdoor pilot to Lilo and Stitch: The Series. Together, they agree that Nani is a queen, speculate at the progressiveness of Pleakely's crossdressing and compare the series to Pokemon (gotta catch em all!) Also, Arezou scares Candace and Bri when she fixates on one alien in particular. In a first for Straight Out Of Home Video - they are revisiting one of the movies! This week, Candace and Arezou gush about Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, and how they feel it's stood the test of time. From being the only sequel represented in the parks, to how much it meant to them as kids and as adults, to the romance tropes shown in the movie (and Arezou's liberal use of a certain term), they were only too happy to revisit one of the earliest Disney sequels. This week, Candace and Arezou subject themselves to the...experience that is Belle's Magical World, a three part “movie” that was clearly meant to be a series and stitched together with no through line. They analyze how the petty conflicts cheapen the original story and dive in to the terrifying implications of sentient characters that appear here, but are nowhere to be seen in the rest of Beauty and the Beast Is it better or worse than Atlantis II? Together, they talk about the series as a whole and what it meant (or didn't) to them growing up, and Candace valiantly tries to defend Kim/Ron while the rest vocally oppose it - especially Arezou, who felt "bamboozled" by the friends-to-lovers plot twist. What do you get when you take the Little Mermaid 2, add a dash of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and make them all dogs? Why, you get Lady and the Tramp 2: Scamp's Adventure of course! This week, Candace, Bri and Arezou are joined by their friend Nicole to ask themselves the really important questions about this strange entry into Disney canon. Questions like: Why is this a musical? Why is there a love story? And why, oh why, are people SO passionate about it in their online reviews?? http://thegeekywaffle.com/ https://twitter.com/Geeky_Waffle https://www.facebook.com/thegeekywaffle https://www.instagram.com/thegeekywaffle/ https://www.youtube.com/c/thegeekywaffle https://www.tiktok.com/@thegeekywaffle Support this podcast

A lot of movies from the mid-90’s didn’t age well. But only a few can elicit this many “yikes” in under 90 minutes. This week, Candace, and Arezou are joined by their friend Swara to pick apart this very loose adaptation of Pocahontas’ real-life trip to England. Together they muse on how Pocahontas got “fair-and-lovely’d” and how the Johns Smith and Rolfe had more chemistry with each other than either did with the heroine. Support this podcast
Candace and Vanessa are on an adventure to get through all the Tinker Bell movies, and this particular entry in the canon was a stressful one. At least for Vanessa. Pour yourself some celebratory chamomile tea, and brace yourself for Tinkerbell’s anger issues.
Winnie the Pooh holds a special place in many of our hearts. That warmth and comfort and nostalgia for childhood all wrapped up in a chubby, little cubby, all stuffed with fluff package This week, in a mini-episode, Candace and Vanessa take a look at one of Pooh’s more adventurous outings - an adventure to rescue Christoper Robin - which turns the characterizations up to eleven and includes some truly strange war propaganda.
Not all Disney Sequels are created equal. Take Kronk’s New Groove, which finally puts a spotlight on everyone’s favorite spinach-puff-making himbo henchman. This week, Candace and Bri are joined by Robert from Crooked Table to take a look at this sequel which they believe is better than most and gets an unfair beating from Rotten Tomatoes critics. After all, when you give the legendary Eartha Kitt a song of her very own, how could you fail?
The quality of any given Disney sequel, it turns out, may lie in how nostalgic you are about it in the first place. Case in point, The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea Arezou and Candace like it. Bri doesn’t. We found a rare gem in Kim Possible: A Sitch In Time in that it is one of the movies that actually made us want to revisit the series, instead of shun it forever! And it's no wonder that we enjoyed it; not only did we love revisiting our favorite characters of Kim and Ron (and of course Rufus), we reminisce about the crushworthiness of Shego (and how she's the only villain with a brain) and discover all of the awesome actors that lent their voice to the film–such as Michael Clarke Duncan, Michael Dorn, Vivica A. Fox, and Freddie Prinze Jr., among others. Enjoy this episode as we travel back in time to a beloved series and Kim and Ron travel forward in time to do what they do best–save the day. You know you’re in for a weird ride when your Little Mermaid movie has more in common with Beetlejuice than with most movies in the Disney canon. The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning is a strange adventure that features speakeasies, Sally Field as a villain that flew too close to the sun, and surprisingly little time spent with Ariel. This week Candace, Vanessa and Arezou are joined by their friend Mollie to discuss the bizarre trip that is this movie, dive into the dark undertones, and rank King Triton on their list of Hot Disney Dads.
