Finding balance has been a challenge for me. I'm trying my best, but happy to be back. I was making content since I was a kid and didn't know it until now. Paying more attention to the things I consume when it comes to content. If it doesn't serve a purpose in my life... I'm not going to bother with it. DComs have been a joy to rewatch, especially with Alvaro. We're all in this together! Let's go wild cats! Butterfingers are underrated, and please give them a try. I just don't understand pimple stars...I don't get the trend and never will. I guess Alvaro and I are in the point in our marriage where we hide toothpaste from each other. I'm happy he found one that he likes to use. It's the simple gifts that mean more to me than an expensive gift. Thanks for listening!

Since the basic cable debut of The Disney Channel in April 1983, the House of Mouse has used its family-oriented network to feature its best movie ideas that weren't quite ready for the silver screen. At first the films were released under the name “Disney Channel Premiere Films,” but since 1997, they have been released under the banner Disney Channel Original Movie – or DCOM – up until 2022, when Disney+ took up the mantle. Regardless of the term you use to describe these feature-length gems, they bring to the fore a feeling of intense nostalgia. Generations are defined by the DCOM movies of someone's particular childhood! As always, this led the Great Pop Culture Debate team to wonder...what is the Best Disney Channel Original Movie? Movies discussed: High School Musical, The Thirteenth Year, Twitches, Smart House, Zenon: Girl of the Future, Tru Confessions, Quints, Descendants, Cadet Kelly, Brink!, Teen Beach Movie, Halloweentown, The Cheetah Girls, Get a Clue, Zombies, Camp Rock. Join host Eric Rezsnyak and GPCD panelists Amma Marfo, Bob Erlenback, Joelle Boedecker, and Trey Radu-Blackburn as they discuss 16 of the most-popular Disney Channel Original Movies. High School Musical was a watershed moment for Disney Channel Original Movies, when they crossed over from odd, throwaway curiosities about mermen and telepathic horses, into huge mainstream success, with hit albums, merchandise and two bona fide stars in the form of Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. With all that being said however, it is still recognisably a DCOM, thanks to such unmissable genre conventions as a vaguely nonsensical plot, a budget of about $40, and of course, a weapons-grade Bad Dad. Johnny returns to O‘ahu, Hawaii for his grandfather's wedding, but finds the island paradise under the cruel yoke of a gang of mountainboarding teens! Can Johnny save his increasingly large family from the poisonous influence of these bad dudes and their strikingly terrible extreme sport? Give Me That D: A Disney Channel Original Movie Breakdown Podcast

This week on GMTD, we have the incomparable Elissa Marcus here to talk about (according to IMDB “trivia”) one of the most obscure DCOMs of all time — Buffalo Dreams! This movie is about a boy named Josh who moves to New Mexico with his science loving dad and “culinary anthropologist” mom. Josh is OBSESSED with biking (as is this movie) to the point we felt like the title should be called “Biking Dreams”. Josh teams up with Thomas, a Navajo boy who is single handedly in charge of a wild herd of Buffalo (where are the adults??) and the two of them go on a journey to accept one another, connect with nature, and of COURSE train Josh to win a bike race that determines the future of the Navajo's sacred land… seems about white, er, right. This movie surprised us in good and bad ways, but we're pleased to report it isn't as racially insensitive as we were prepared for. So have a blast and enjoyyyyy!

Give Me That D: A Disney Channel Original Movie Breakdown Podcast

GMTD babies! We're energized yet traumatized this week because we watched “Hounded”! And here to trauma bond with us is Myke Thompson (whose life eerily mirrors the exact plot of this movie???). If we're being honest, this movie is mostly about a possessed pomeranian who absolutely ruins the lives of two separate families. It is one of the most insane and hard to watch DCOMs these humble hosts have ever had to sit through. The DESTRUCTION of a house, the DESTRUCTION of a man, and the DESTRUCTION of our will to live is a testament to what kind of film you're in for. It's hard to really understand what kind of torture this movie is, but just know there is a stolen speech, the threat of military school, a DICK older brother (hot though), EXTORTION, bowling balls to the face, a bag full of turkeys, and a dog with 20 lives. This is a wild one! Enjoyyyyyy
