In this episode of The Discourse Podcast, we talk to actress Alison Brie (“Community”) and director Jeff Baena (“The Little Hours”), both of whom are currently out promoting their latest project that they co-wrote together, “Spin Me Round.” It's their third collaboration following "The Little Hours" (2017) and "Horse Girl" (2020), the latter of which Brie starred in and co-wrote. “Spin Me Round” stars Alison Brie as a manager of a well-known Italian chain restaurant who wins an all-expenses-paid getaway to the restaurant's “institute” outside of Florence, Italy. While there, she meets and has a brief romance with the charismatic owner of the chain and slips into a potentially sinister unraveling of her trip. The film has a jam-packed cast filled with comedic heavy-hitters like Aubrey Plaza (who happens to be Baena's wife), Fred Armisen, Tim Heidecker, Molly Shannon, Debby Ryan, Tricia Helfer, and Alessandro Nivola. Uploading kinda late but anyway, this was our FIRST EVER live streamed episode! We recorded it back in december of last year. In this episode we discussed Disney Channel "it girl" Debby Ryan. Our next guests are 2 of my favorite composers in LA! They teamed up to craft a synth-infused score for the vampire horror-thriller Night Teeth for Netflix, the action-packed movie is the biggest project the co-composers have tackled yet, with wall-to-wall music and a gritty soundtrack that is essentially a roadmap of Los Angeles. Directed by Adam Randall, the film stars Jorge Lendeborg Jr. as a working college student tasked with chauffeuring two mysterious young women (Debby Ryan and Lucy Fry) around Los Angeles for a night on the town. But all is not as it seems, and he's soon dropped into a sprawling underground of vampiric tribes on the verge of a covert war. The film also stars Raúl Castillo, Alfie Allen, Alexander Ludwig, Sydney Sweeney, and Megan Fox. The composers also have noted that the music is geographically influenced, with each city within Los Angeles having its own signature sound and introducing a new character. Locations featured in the film include Boyle Heights, Hollywood, Downtown LA, and Venice among several others. The composer are...
