Jordan spoke to director Eli Craig a few days before his new (third) feature made an outsized impact at the indie box office, becoming IFC's best-ever opening. They speak about the genesis of that film, 'Clown in a Cornfield,' and about the surprising actor/writer turn Bill Murray took in 1984's 'The Razor's Edge,' as a man on the quest for a better way to live in difficult times. Then Jordan has one quick thing about the new trailer for 'Nobody 2'!***With Jordan Crucchiola & Eli Craig Feeling Seen is hosted by Jordan Crucchiola and is a production Maximum Fun.Need more Feeling Seen? As diehard fans of Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, Leonard and Jessie are always rooting for writer-director Eli Craig, whose latest blood-stained outing is called Clown in a Cornfield. It's very different in tone, and its satiric point is muted until the climax. You can see it now in theaters. We also spoke to Eli about his unusual upbringing, living mostly with his brother and dad in Oregon, but casting an eye on the fight for success that made his mother, Sally Field, an enduring star.
This episode we deep dive into this 1994 classic, starring Tom Hanks, Sally Field and Robin Wright. Watching this movie as a adult, definitely changes some perspective. For a man who was considered 'the local idiot', Forest did more with his life than Rose and Courtney put together. The layer of historical presence woven into Forest's tale is **chef's kiss**. Not to mention the little jokes that we never noticed as kids. Sadly, it also brought one along the startling realization that Jenny may very well be the villain here.
Quinn comes to you LIVE to discuss the Met Gala, Sally Field's Oscar speech, and paper planes

The gang starts with the themes of parenting and family dynamics as portrayed in the film Mrs. Doubtfire, discussing the character of Sally Field and the societal perceptions of fathers during the 90s. The discussion then shifts to Pulp Fiction, where they reflect on a new perspective regarding violence and divine intervention. Finally, they debate the case for Jack Black as the Sexiest Man Alive, considering how personality and talent can redefine traditional standards of attractiveness. Fun Fact Friday and a Classholes history, from 2020, that goes over the move Cats, the Butthole Cut.
Braga, King, and Ski talk Smokey and the Bandit. Burt Reynolds and Sally Field help a truck avoid Jackie Gleason while it drives illegal Coors from Texarkana to Atlanta in 28 hours for a rich guy's party. Yeah, that's a real thing. It was a huge hit, but does it hold up? Listen!

"Forrest Gump" came out in 1994 and took over the world. Kids were shouting "Run Forrest, run!" and "Seat's taken!" and talking about boxes of chocolate with voice affectations that would surely get them cancelled today! Directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise, and Sally Field, the film was almost universally adored, and won all of the awards. It's one of the most beloved films of all time, right? No? People hate it now!? Oh man, let's get into it. 00:00 - Intro / Wait people hate Forrest Gump?? 01:35 - What exactly was Forrest's... condition AKA LET'S MOVE ON 03:30 - Keith thinks this is one of the most emotionally effecting films of all time 05:53 - This movie was such a big deal, and largely a product of its time 09:21 - Looking at who was going to be cast as Forrest and Bubba, did the filmmakers originally plan for this to be more comedic AKA thank God they picked Tom Hanks 16:03 - Tom Hanks gives an incredible performance, masterfully balancing the "goofiness" of the character with true heart and subtlety 20:35 - Gary Sinise as Lt. Dan is fantastic 21:45 - Keith's take on the theme of the film: Chance vs. Destiny 25:13 - Writing, editing, pacing... all excellent, and the film excellently balances the shifting tones 28:00 - The film allows you to relate to its emotional moments, and see yourself in the situations Forrest finds himself in 31:37 - Keith is brought to tears by one scene in particular 35:56 - Funny moments and quotability 38:30 - Jenny is just awful, and you're sexist for thinking so 45:20 - Keith doesn't love the degree to which Forrest fits into American history 51:38 - Cut the whole running sequence and that terrible "happy face" t-shirt scene 57:57 - Forrest is covertly trying to turn you into a conservative 01:04:49 - Wait so how did Jenny die? Welcome back to another edition of the Video Store Podcast. In honor of Women's History Month, I've selected four films featuring what I like to call “Wonder Women.” These are women who are brave, kind, strong, and all-around wonderful. This isn't meant to be an exhaustive list—simply four films that resonate with me personally as a woman, and you should watch, whether you're a woman or not. Fried Green Tomatoes (1991)First up is the 1991 Oscar-nominated film, Fried Green Tomatoes. The film stars Mary Stuart Masterson, Mary-Louise Parker, Kathy Bates, and Jessica Tandy, among others. Fried Green Tomatoes is based on the book Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg, who also wrote the first draft of the screenplay. This film flashes between the 1920s and the 1980s, looking at Wonder Women through all stages of life. No matter where you find yourself, Fried Green Tomatoes is a great film to enjoy with the wonderful women in your life. Steel Magnolias (1989)Next up is Steel Magnolias from 1989. Focusing on southern women's culture in the 1980s, Steel Magnolias highlights the friendship among six women who must persevere through difficult circumstances. Starring Shirley MacLaine, Olympia Dukakis, Sally Field, Julia Roberts, Dolly Parton, Daryl Hannah, and Tom Skerritt, Steel Magnolias expertly blends comedy and drama, making a great movie full of Wonder Women. 9 to 5 (1980)The second Dolly Parton film in today's line-up is 9 to 5. The film, in addition to Dolly Parton, features Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, and Dabney Coleman. Highlighting 1980s office politics that are unfortunately still all too relevant today, 9 to 5 tackles serious women's issues with humor, making their points even more effective and poignant. This is a great laugh after the tear-jerking drama after Steel Magnolias and Fried Green Tomatoes. Alien (1979)The last film in our Wonder Women selections is 1979's Alien directed by Ridley Scott. Starring Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, Veronica Cartwright, Yaphet Kotto, John Hurt, Ian Holm, Harry Dean Stanton, and Bolaji Badejo as the Xenomorph, Alien, is a phenomenal sci-fi horror film. Alien's leading wonder woman, Ripley, played by Sigourney Weaver, is an amazing sci-fi heroine. She's smart, brave, and resourceful, totes a flamethrower, and has a kitty-cat sidekick. What more do you want in a film about a Wonder Woman? We hope you enjoy these films and come back and see us next week on the Video Store Podcast. Thanks for reading Video Store Podcast! EPISODE 76 - “MEMORABLE OSCAR SPEECHES OF THE GOLDEN ERA OF HOLLYWOOD” - 2/24/2025 Winning an Oscar is a dream for most people who work in Hollywood. But you can't just win the Oscar, you have to have a good speech once your name is called and you head to the podium. There have been some great ones — OLIVIA COLEMAN's funny and cheeky speech hit the right tone and who can forget JACK PALANCE's one-arm push-ups or CUBA GOODING's exuberance? There have also been some bad ones — don't we all still cringe a little at SALLY FIELDS' “You like me” speech? As we prepare to celebrate the 97th annual Academy Award ceremony, Steve and Nan look back on some of their favorite Oscar speeches and why they resonate. So put on your tux, don the gown and jewels, pop the champagne, and join us for a fun talk about … well, people talking. This entire series of The Peggy Mount Calamity Hour focuses on the more macabre facets of the magic lantern partly in a bid to help clear the supernatural backlog, and because sometimes a Halloween-themed programme crops up that's just too good to leave until Spooky-Season! (or is just too awful to take that coveted slot in the review-schedule, but let's try to be optimistic) Worlds collide at Mountpeg Towers this week when Ozzy Bognops drops round, and explosions meet ectoplasm for The Fall Guy on 'October The 31st', the textbook snapshot of a celebrated 1980s TV show having a mid-life crisis. Yes, whether you're raising a cold beer to The Unknown Stuntman or a smouldering absinthe to The Mistress Of The Dark, the level of For-The-Dads™ televisual entertainment here is positively off the scale... How many litres of water does it take to extinguish Sally Field? How many litres of whiskey does it take to incapacitate Colt Seavers? And how many members of the incidental cast are changing their surname to Carradine to ensure they get a screen-credit? Grab the coroner, unearth the casket, press the Play button, and find out... In this episode, we dive into the controversial and haunting story of Shirley Mason, better known as Sybil, the woman whose case brought dissociative identity disorder (DID) into the public spotlight. Her life became the basis for the bestselling book Sybil and its famous film adaptations, but how much of her story was real? We explore Shirley's childhood, the alleged abuse that shaped her psyche, and the role her psychiatrist, Dr. Cornelia Wilbur, played in shaping the narrative of her multiple personalities. Was Sybil an authentic account of a woman struggling with DID, or was it a case of manipulation and suggestion? Join us as we separate fact from fiction, uncover the ethical dilemmas in her treatment, and discuss how her story continues to shape conversations around mental health today.

Come sit and your enjoy a nice holiday meal whilst we talk about Home For The Holidays, the 1972 made for TV horror starring Jessica Walter and Sally Field and a slasher in a raincoat!
Join hosts Jason Christian, Anthony Ballas, and Tim Jones as they discuss the celebrated socially conscious Hollywood director, Martin Ritt (1914–1990). Ritt is known for a number of critically aclaimed movies, among them Paris Blues (1961), Hud (1963), and The Spy Who Came In from the Cold (1965). In this episode, we focus on four of Ritt's explicitly pro-worker films: The Molly Maguires (1970), Sounder (1972), The Front (1976), and Norma Rae (1979). Ritt was never brought before HUAC, but he nevertheless blacklisted after his name was mentioned in the right-wing anticommunist newsletter Counterattack, along with 150 of other Hollywood workers. These experiences were satirized in The Front, the first film that confronts the blacklist era directly. Sally Field, the star of Norma Rae, once wrote of Ritt that "he felt it was important to stand for something, to have a moral point of view—especially if you work in the arts." That committment to justice is present all through Ritt's work. He boldly tackled labor issues and racism in a number of films, going as far as critiquing the all-white suburbian "utopias" in the overlooked gem No Down Payment (1957). Of course, in proper rabbitHOLE form, the BIT CREW A-Zs it to dead animal furniture. In episode six, you'll hear about hauntings, signs from beyond the grave, random appearances in rap videos, ironic award show categories, daytime dance clubs, over-caffeinated dates, New Ikea, talking furniture, and approval seeking. TLDR Version: Always confirm muffin ingredients. IYKYK As always, rabbitHOLE is unscripted and inspired by the CREW's real-life rabbit hole adventures. If you enjoy rabbitHOLE, follow, rate, and share rabbitHOLE with your friends! APOLOGIES: Ikea (yet again), the OSCARS®, the GRAMMYS®, Insane Clown Posse, caffeine, Heinz Ketchup, Belle & Sebastian, IMDb, Sally Field, Basements, Pharrell Williams, Tufted Titmice, Dead Pets, Hill's Dad, Fear Factor, and the Williamsburg Co-op (if there is such a thing). BONUS NOTE! About Aleister Crowley - by Sabrina Kim Banes Aleister Crowley was an English occultist, ceremonial magician, writer, and mountaineer who lived from 1875 to 1947. He led the international magical society Ordo Templi Orientis, and his grasp of occult knowledge was second to none. He created his own religion, Thelema, whose teachings are contained in The Book Of the Law — and yes, the Gnostic Mass really does involve consuming trace amounts of bodily fluids. Crowley's Tarot deck, the Thoth deck, which he co-created with Lady Frieda Harris, is known to this day as one of the most powerful and beautiful in existence. Nowadays, people remember Crowley as a sort of early 20th-century edgelord who wrote inflammatory poetry and encouraged people to do drugs and have lots of sex. Some say he drove all his partners mad. But his greatest esoteric teaching, "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law," continues to endure within occult circles. If you want to read more about him you should check out Perdurabo: The Life of Aleister Crowley by Richard Kaczynski. Not a reader? You can learn a little about some of the wild hijinks of the OTO's Agape Lodge (and the life of Jack Parsons) from the television series Strange Angel. All errors included here are the sole responsibility of Sabrina Kim Banes! Thanks for reading, and happy spooky season! Brian Copeland hosts an all new edition of Copeland's Corner, featuring guests Cathy Sorbo, Yayne Abeba, and Tom Sawyer. The discussion spans several topics including Trump's cognitive abilities, media bias in political coverage, and the socio-political landscape influenced by evangelical churches in the Deep South. The conversation also touches on voter behavior, particularly among women, and the impact of potential Roe vs. Wade reversals. Yayne's move to Brentwood, Nashville, is contrasted with Tom Sawyer's background in comedy. Personal anecdotes, including Sally Field's experience with an illegal abortion and reflections on the careers of prominent women, provide a poignant commentary on women's rights.--For more from our guests...Cathy Sorbo: CathySorbo.com and @CathySorbo on IGYayne Abeba: @YayneAbeba on InstagamTom Sawyer: TomSawyerVoices.com --For more from Brian...Visit his website: www.BrianCopeland.comFollow on Social Media: Instagram - @CopelandsCorner & @BrianCopieEmail: BrianCopelandShow@Gmail.com --Copeland's Corner is Created, Hosted, & Executive Produced by Brian Copeland. In this episode, we analyze the iconic 1977 film "Smokey and the Bandit" with the hosts of Cars and Comrades. We share our personal connections to the movie, discussing how it shaped our views on truck driving and outlaw culture, particularly through Brandon's experience. The conversation revolves around the Bandit's wild quest to transport Coors beer and critiques the comedic representation of law enforcement, exemplified by Sheriff Buford T. Justice. We delve into the film's themes of working-class solidarity and anti-authoritarianism, highlighting the camaraderie among truckers and the Bandit's folk hero status. Our analysis also touches on the humor, improvised dialogue, and gender roles, particularly through Sally Field's character. As we reflect on the film's lasting legacy, we share personal ratings and recommendations, reiterating its significance for car enthusiasts and fans of classic comedy, all while reinforcing our mission to explore car culture from a leftist perspective.Left of the Projector Linkshttps://www.patreon.com/LeftoftheProjectorPodhttps://boxd.it/5T9O1https://leftoftheprojector.comhttps://instagram.com/leftoftheprojectorhttp://tiktok.com/@leftoftheprojectorpodhttps://www.threads.net/@leftoftheprojectorCars and Comrades links: www.linktr.ee/CarsAndComradesEmail us with tips, stories, and unhinged rants: carsandcomrades@gmail.com

Lisa talks in-depth about the beloved comedy and memoir Yes Please by Amy Poehler. This is a hilarious book - though only some things don't work as well on the page they might in standup. The New York Times addresses how much of the book is filler with empty pages for writing notes and parts of scripts in the book. Books discussed: Finding Me by Viola Davis In Pieces by Sally Field
This week Ron and Peter celebrate the BIG 4-0's of two wildly different films, both released on September 21, 1984: The multiple-Oscar-winning AMADEUS, and Charles Bronson in THE EVIL THAT MEN DO, a film that strangely wasn't even nominated for any Oscars. We also discuss the recent releases BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE and TRAP. Next week, we're staying on September 21, as two other notable 1984 releases celebrate their BIG 4-0's: Sally Field, Danny Glover, and John Malkovich in the depression-era drama PLACES IN THE HEART, and Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin in the body-swap comedy, ALL OF ME. Please remember to Rate, Like, and Subscribe; and we'll see you next week!

Welcome back to Lez Hang Out, the podcast that has a Southern accent now, y'all. This week, Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) hang out with dyslexic southern pageant girl turned Brooklyn lesbian comedian, Ali Clayton (@aliclaytoncomedy) to talk about why the 1989 dramedy Steel Magnolias Should've Been Gay. Ali is the co-host of the Y'all Gay Podcast (@yallgaypod) and recently released her debut comedy album, Country Queer. We couldn't think of anyone more perfect to chat with about this classic Southern throwback. Steel Magnolias stars Dolly Parton, Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine, and Julia Roberts. It follows the story of a group of southern women in a small Louisiana town and the friendships they forge. Dolly's character runs a beauty salon and between the beauticians and the clients, there is always tea to be spilled. Although Ellie and Leigh had not previously seen this film, they knew one major thing- that the movie is extremely sad. We'd be remiss not to give the disclaimer that you will absolutely need an entire box of tissues when watching this film. Pretty much every woman in this movie is a huge dyke. The overarching theme is that being married to a man is somewhat better than dying young, but only by a really, really small margin. No one has anything nice to say about their husbands. The basic plot can be boiled down to “f*ck men” and “hurray for female friendships”. This makes it the perfect candidate for us when thinking about ships, there are so many to choose from! We talk with Ali about her personal experience with watching Steel Magnolias in the 90s, performing in Reba Drag at 8 years old, and growing up in the pageant world. We know one thing for sure, Steel Magnolias Should've Been Gay. Follow us on Twitter: (@lezhangoutpod) and answer our Q & Gay questions at the end of every episode. You can also join us on Facebook.com/lezhangoutpod and Instagram (@lezhangoutpod). Find us individually on Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok at Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida).
