Talking Creative is a weekly podcast all about the art of voiceover directing, hosted by Samantha Boffin. If you're a creative, voice director or simply love the world of voice production, Talking Creative is designed for you. It's a podcast that will help you find, prep and direct voice artists and actors - and give you the skinny on how to get the most from every. single. booking. Plus it celebrates the creativity of voice directing - how the techniques used in, say, animation and gaming can enhance even the driest corporate narration. With solo episodes and guest interviews, Talking Creative is a smoosh together of everything I've learnt from 20 years of being a BBC Creative Director, coupled with my experience as a voice artist - as well as interviews from some top industry talent on both sides of the mic. If you're looking for gen about equipment or tech, this may not be the podcast for you. But if you're looking to get the maximum value from your voiceover sessions and take your projects to the next level - then you might want to start Talking Creative.

This episode of Talking Creative is less about "how" and more about "why". A more inspirational episode perhaps! I can sometimes struggle to explain exactly why voiceover work feels important. And when I talk to people about what I do for a living - I tend to fall back on the lighter weight stuff because it's an easier “in”. Still, in comparison to midwives, accountants or firefighters - it can feel a little, well, frivolous. But in this episode we look at how voiceover is used in more serious ways. So settle back for this short burst of Talking Creative and hopefully it will make you think about different ways that you can use voices in your work.
