Episode 2638: Vinnie Tortorich and Chris Shaffer discuss making a comeback, how sugar is poison, hybrid meat, screen time, and more. https://vinnietortorich.com/2025/04/sugar-is-poison-episode-2638 PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS YOU CAN WATCH ALL THE PODCAST EPISODES ON YOUTUBE - Sugar Is Poison Vinnie tells Chris about a couple of common phrases that he heard a lot in his younger years. (3:00) How do these two phrases relate to making a comeback? (15:00) Pure Vitamin Club has made a comeback and has everything in stock. RFK Jr. recently stated, “Sugar is poison.” This message has needed to come from a government official for a long time. (18:00) The quantity of sugar consumed per capita has multiplied over the decades. A hybrid burger, “Both”, mixes meat with vegetables in the same patty. (28:00) Vinnie doesn't like that the underlying message is that meat is bad, or at the very least, eat less meat. (30:30) Another hybrid "meat' is a chopped steak by Choppy. (33:00) Chris shares the ingredients, and it doesn't sound great in Vinnie's opinion. The desire for convenience makes people take shortcuts that they don't need to. For example, feeding cereal to their child for breakfast instead of cooking eggs. Chris has some exercise questions for Vinnie. (43:00) Another fitness influencer suggests three things to do in the gym. Vinnie discusses why the three exercises may not be optimal. He suggests instead push-ups, assisted pull-ups, lunges, or bodyweight squats. Adding cardio and flexibility is always a plus, and it doesn't have to be complex. (50:00) Vinnie discusses his “phone diet.” (53:00) He has suggestions on how you can reduce time on the phone. There are so many entertainment sources that people think they need them all the time. Join us for this Feminine Power Time, Embracing Life's Jacket : 5 Inquiries to Find Clarity & Courage in Choppy Waters - one of the four Power Pauses we do each year, this one focused on the energy of Equinox, Harmonizing. Taking a Power Pause quarterly is one of the best practices for decreasing anxiety, increasing clarity, receiving guidance and gaining courage. When we pause at near the equinoxes and solstices, our internal rhythm aligns with the natural rhythm... we gain clarity on how to focus in the coming months + we take a stand to ensure you have the support and structure you need to hold you. Power pauses are a personal-leadership best practice, and a wise way to run your business, organization and team. Also must if you want to stay centered, sustained and sane in our current world. Every year I hold power pauses at this 4 key shifting points, the equinoxes and the solstices, March, June, Sept and Dec - within the Feminine Wisdom Way Collective, and for leaders of teams, companies and organizations in which we do "Cyclical Strategic Planning." While the structure of each Equinox power pause is the same, every year we are different and every year the world is different. So I change up the flavor and focus based on what's needed. This year, I felt compelled to share with you a series of 3 inquiries shared with me by one of my long-time mentors - Pele Rouge Chadima co-founder of Timeless Earth Wisdom. Plus 2 sustainable success and wellbeing inquiries we ask every year at this time. The wisdom and inquiries have def been a life jacket for staying above the choppy waters of chaos, finding my way back to center when I fall off my 'life raft," and answering the call to what's taking me into bigger waters. It all centers around "Trusting Life" which is different than "trusting the Universe" .. in subtle but pretty profound ways - both are needed. The first part of this episode I share what I have been learning through this lense of Trusting Life that has truly been a life-jacket. The second part I will take you through a ritual - like a labryrinth - with 5 inquiries to help you tune into the messages Life has for you, where your resistance might be, and what is calling you to accept and center into so you can receive the gift Life is trying to offer. See you there, Christine p.s. SHARE THIS POWER PAUSE WITH A FRIEND ... go through the inquiries together and then this year become re-harmonizers for each other when you get the wobbles or can't seem to find your centered truth. ***** RESOURCES Wisdom Inquiries - Access on Feminine Power Time Podcast Page Timeless Earth WIsdom and Pele Rouge - https://www.centerfortimelessearthwisdom.org/ Other Equinox Power Pauses - These inquiries are different than the ones I have done in Equinox Power Pauses in the past, but those inquiries are also still valid for finding imbalances, shifting habits, setting focused intentions - you can access the library of Equinox Power Pauses here. In this timely episode of the Arete Coach Podcast, host Severin Sorensen provides an essential guide for CEOs and business leaders navigating the turbulent economic landscape following the introduction of new tariffs by the Trump administration. Recorded on March 5, 2025, this episode explores the undercurrents of financial markets reacting sharply and economic uncertainty rising, and this episode offers 10 strategic actions that leaders can take to fortify their businesses and emerge stronger in the face of volatility. Severin examines the latest market data, including significant declines in the Dow Jones, S&P 500, and Nasdaq, and the ripple effects across key industries such as automotive, oil and gas, manufacturing, and agriculture. He highlights the potential impact of tariffs on inflation, consumer spending, trade relations, and monetary policy. But more importantly, this episode isn't just about identifying challenges—it's about solutions. Severin shares a structured 10-point strategy to help CEOs lead with confidence, including: ✔ Preserving and strengthening cash reserves ✔ Managing interest rate and debt exposure ✔ Strengthening financial forecasting and scenario planning ✔ Optimizing and lean-out business operations ✔ Investing in workforce resilience and automation ✔ Deepening customer relationships and value propositions ✔ Staying opportunistic and preparing to invest when others retreat ✔ Monitoring supply chain and trade risks closely ✔ Leaning on trusted advisors and industry networks ✔ Projecting strength, stability, and confidence as a leader Using powerful maritime metaphors, Severin likens business leadership to captaining a ship through stormy seas—emphasizing the importance of foresight, adaptability, and calm decision-making. Memorable Quotes: "The best captains don't panic when the winds shift—they adjust their sails." "In economic storms, businesses rarely sink because of profitability issues; they sink because they run out of cash." "A lighter ship moves faster and can navigate narrow passages that would ground a heavier vessel." "Your most loyal customers are your anchor during economic storms."
