On this episode of the Holistic Anxiety Fix podcast, I had the pleasure of speaking with Gillian Simpson, the founder of For The Love Of Ice. Gillian, often referred to as the "Ice Queen," shared her deeply personal journey with cold plunges, which started as a way to combat postpartum depression. Her story highlights how this practice not only transformed her mental health but also reignited her passion for life and led to the creation of her wellness studio. We dove into the science behind cold exposure, discussing how it tones the vagus nerve, increases dopamine production, and shifts the body from a fight-or-flight state to a rest-and-digest state. Gillian emphasized the importance of proper guidance and the transformative power of co-regulation during these sessions. For anyone curious about the physical and emotional benefits of cold plunging, this episode is packed with insights and practical advice. Autumn is one of my ongoing clients whose healing journey is worth sharing. Her anxiety and struggle to keep up with the normal routine of life are mostly attributable to the latent Lyme infection that was swept under the rug by the medical system for 16 straight years. She was told that it was all in her mind and doctors kept ignoring her intuition of having been infected with Lyme disease until it was too late. The infection had caused too many health complications throughout her body. It wasn't until the last year when her anxiety went over the roof that she decided to take full charge of her health. When she met me we did several tests including hair tests, blood work, and GI maps, and found out there were multiple underlying reasons for her disease. Years of untreated Lyme disease had wreaked havoc on her vital systems. At a time, she was contending with gut issues, mold exposure, suppressed immune systems, and medical PTSD. Her journey signifies that there is rarely a single root cause of anxiety in any given case and we have to dig deep to find out all the layers and interconnections. Although she is back on track to reclaim her life, healing is an ongoing process and consistency is the key. Tune in to listen to her experience in her own words!
In this episode, we dive deep into how a specific functional medicine test called DUTCH test can help to restore hormonal balance. I sit down with a hormone health practitioner - Hannah and we chat about how doing the DUTCH has allowed her to dive even deeper into rebalancing her hormones in a way she wasn't able to with general natural strategies alone. Ever since Hannah hit puberty she had painful periods. Like most women, she went on birth control on and off for almost a decade. At the age of 25, by the end of her birth control journey, she had acne all over her jaw line, painful breasts for like a week, insomnia 3 days before her periods, and heavy periods. It wasn't until she started to learn about holistic nutrition, that she realized how stress can play a huge role in hormonal imbalance. Amazingly, she resolved her symptoms in just 4-6 weeks, through holistic strategies. But a year ago, she started experiencing breast tenderness around ovulation time and increased occurrence of respiratory infections. She took the DUTCH Test to look into what was going into her body. The results showed that she had slight estrogen dominance, low testosterone, and low cortisol levels. These insights guided her toward making dietary and lifestyle changes to get rid of the symptoms she was having and fix the underlying hormonal imbalance. Tune in to completely understand the DUTCH test and its significance for healing your hormonal imbalance.
In this episode we talk about a topic that is missed by MOST practitioners as a sneaky root cause of anxiety - mold! Part of the reason it is so often missed is that is is not recognized by medical system as a major source of serious health problems, making it more difficult to detect. You can have 'perfect' bloodwork and still have mold illness. Mycotoxins can enter our body through inhalation, ingestion or skin contact. Once in the body, they trigger inflammatory responses and prolonged inflammation can lead to many serious health issues such as depression, anxiety, heart palpations, panic attacks, OCD, liver damage, sleep disturbances, peripheral neuropathy, movement disorders, and much more. In this episode I also share more about my own journey through mold illness and key steps in identifying it and treating it. The right information will help you to screen and test for mold, to properly remediate it and to detox it at the cellular level to reclaim your health. Tune in and listen to everything you should know about mold illness!
Welcome to The Holistic Anxiety Fix Podcast! In this episode I talk with Sarah about her amazing transformation through her experience in Holistic Anxiety Fix Program. Sarah was struggling with postpartum anxiety for two years before she discovered me through my facebook group. She was frustrated, unable to sleep, and really on the edge. She was worried about her work and her role as a mother, as well as her children's health. Sarah's willingness to take a leap and join the program is what ultimately led her out a potential lifetime of the chaos and struggle. Together we worked to find the underlying cause of her symptoms. It turned out her house was full of alarmingly high levels of mold. She also scored really high in Uranium on HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis), which led to the discovery of high Radon level in her house. To reclaim her health, she had to move out of the house. As you will learn by listening to this story, when you are looking for answers, working with the right professionals is key. Tune in and listen to her wonderful story!
This podcast episode is going to change your perspective about anxiety. In this episode, I interview Dr. Jared Zeigler who is a functional neurologist. He talks at length about the neurological basis of anxiety and how he uses different healing techniques to cure anxiety. According to functional neurology, anxiety is one of the primitive responses of our brain. As a result of traumatic brain injury, the brain goes into a reflexive state. When you are anxious, your brain is actually looking out for you. Emotional stress, physical stress, mold and parasites infestation, gut infections, autoimmune disorders, and head injury all can trigger the reflexive part of the brain, brainstem. Brainstem controls our basic reflexes that we can't consciously control while frontal cortex is responsible for our conscious activities. It turns out our brainstem is stronger than the the cortex, which is why we are unable to control anxiety by conscious thought process. Over time, the learned behavioral reflexes get hardwired in our brain and control us. To cure the brain from toxic patterns, functional neurologists use different activation techniques that stimulate selective parts of the brain. Tune in to know more about this game changing approach to healing anxiety and its benefits to restore your mental health!
In this episode, I briefly explain the reasons and ways to calm one of the most alarming symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks: Heart Palpitations. Heart palpitations that anxiety patients experience can be triggered by a variety of stimuli such as light, traffic, driving, physical exercise, etc. They are often accompanied by panic attack that resembles a heart attack. But having palpitations due to anxiety doesn't mean that there's something wrong with your heart medically. The reasons for palpitations are many and our conventional medical system does not address them. The doctor may advise you a beta blocker to calm your heart but that doesn't treat the root cause of your irregular heartbeat. I have compiled a list of all the physiological root causes of heart palpitations. Tune in and listen to those causes and a brief overview how you can fix them acting holistically!
This episode tells the success story of a graduate of my Holistic Anxiety Fix program, Sarah Goodsen, who happens to be a medical practitioner. Her journey and experiences are of peculiar nature as she was well aware of limitations of conventional medical system. She experienced awful episodes of anxiety after she went through a traumatic medical event. She would have panic attacks all the time and stopped eating, resulting in the loss of 30 pounds of her weight. She also went to therapy and to different doctors but there was no respite to her symptoms. She also saw some functional wellness practitioners but was not satisfied with the pace of their healing methods. Her inquisitive nature and desire to know the answers led her to my program. Working together, when we dug a little deeper we found out that she had mineral imbalances, hormonal issues, and metal toxicities. We focused on optimal levels of hormones and minerals and worked to restore optimal functioning of her physiological systems. During this period, she went from severe clinical anxiety to no anxiety. Tune in and listen to her valuable insights as a medical practitioner and an anxiety patient
In this episode, my guest is Roxy from Wanderess. She is an expert of a unique technique of energy healing called Biofield Tuning. Biofield Tuning is a method that uses different frequency forks on and off the body in the energy field of a person to tune and recalibrate his/her energy. It removes the stuck energy in the body and brings resonance into your frequency. We are energy beings and our body has a measurable energy field. This energy field also called aura or magnetic field extends 6 feet out both left and right of off our body and 3 feet above and below our body. Biofield stores trauma, memories, and emotions and this relates sometimes with anxiety. In this technique, tuning forks of different frequencies are used so that the energies of past bad experiences stored in the body are released. In this way, anxiety related with those memories and emotions can be cured. Tune in to find more about this innovative healing method!
In women, hormone imbalance and its popular go-to treatment, hormonal birth control are associated with anxiety more often than not. Underlying causes for hormone imbalance are usually poor diet, poor absorption of fats from the diet, stress, gut infections, toxic buildups, mold toxicity, and heavy metal toxicity to name a few. But the real problem starts when you try to fix hormone imbalance with hormone birth control pills instead of addressing the reason why your hormones are out of order in the first place. These pills contain synthetic estrogens and progesterone-like chemicals called progestins. The synthetic estrogens prevent your body to make natural estrogens. The progestins inhibit LH (Luteinizing Hormone) thus blocking the formation of ovum and progesterone in the body. In the absence of natural progesterone, the body undergoes estrogen dominance and copper toxicity that can result in anxiety. Tune in to know more how you can save yourself from havoc that oral contraceptives might play on your health. In this episode we explore a story of healing anxiety when the solution is not straight forward. I meet with Jennifer, and we talk about the many different aspects of her tumultuous healing journey. Her story depicts that healing from anxiety is not always a linear process but success can still happen! For years, she would have waves of on and off anxiety. In 2022 she found herself really struggling when back to back surgeries triggered panic attacks and set her life into a complete disarray. The situation felt hopeless for her as she went from one physician to another only to find they had no solution to her debilitating symptoms. It was during her search for answers that she discovered The Holistic Anxiety Fix. In the program, she went through comprehensive testing to get to the root causes of her awful symptoms. Her root causes required deeper support beyond just diet and minerals. Jennifer's story is a true depiction of how anxiety can be multilayered and there's no one-size-fits-all solution. What you need is determination and a resourceful person to help you figure out what's causing your anxiety. Tune in and listen to this beautiful story of courage and perseverance.
In this episode, I interview Diane Liska and explore the benefits of somatic work in healing anxiety. Diane is a registered psychotherapist and certified yoga teacher. She's currently in her advanced year of completing her Somatic Experiencing Practitioner Certification and specializes in serving individuals healing from complex developmental and sexual trauma from a somatic and attachment focused lens. In our conversation, we explore how somatic therapy can be a totally different lens to healing anxiety. She explains how somatic therapy can help enhance the mind's connection with the body. It's considered a bottom-up process where the work is with the body; the nervous system and the tissues - to help them have a different experience. This way, the brain starts to interpret experiences differently and we can rewire our nervous system and change the mind and body patterns associated with anxiety. In this mind-blowing discussion, we reviewed various aspects of somatic therapy and how they can help women heal anxiety. Tune in to listen to this intriguing, dynamic, and illuminating conversation! Perhaps this is a missing link for you!
Join me for this solo episode where I dive deep into the concept of adrenal health and its connection to your anxiety. "Adrenal fatigue" is a term commonly used by practitioners and clients alike to capture symptoms resulting from poor functioning adrenal glands. Many people use this term to explain why they are so tired, or anxious, or they have sleep issues and body aches. The question is whether adrenal fatigue is really causing your anxiety and if so, how can it be corrected? The simple answer is that adrenals don't work independently and their decreased function can only be addressed by implementing holistic measures and treating underlying issues. Tune in to find out the general strategies for getting to the root causes, treatment, and management of adrenal issues.
This is the inspiring story of Jessica Sharp who was able to get rid of anxiety through the Holistic Anxiety Fix program. Before she discovered me through a Facebook ad, she had suffered from debilitating anxiety for 15 years. She had panic attacks and suffered from anxiety. She also had anxiety about her physical symptoms, which often sent her into loops. Jessica was determined to heal. She did not accept the lack of solutions offered through conventional medication and was convinced that there was more to her anxiety than mere a mental illness that she had to learn to live with. My message of getting to the root cause really resonated with her, and she enrolled in the program. During this interview she shares, I was her last hope. Across this 12 week support program, we worked on various aspects contributing to her recovery such as mind set reset, breath work, addressing gut issues, and correcting mineral imbalances. This multi-step program gradually restored her vitality and now she feels grateful that she made this choice despite her initial hesitation. Tune in and listen to what she has to say about her journey!
In this episode, I talk with Sarah Conover who started out as a Vestibular Physical Therapist (Dizziness Expert) and later on delved into correlation between dizziness and anxiety. She now works as a coach and a Vestibular Therapist. She beautifully explains the role of the inner ear and its interconnections with other body parts and functions, different types of dizziness, the crossover of dizziness and anxiety, and her way of working with dizziness patients. Dizziness can be of many different forms, of which the chronic dizziness related to inner ear is more likely to develop anxiety in patients. Sometimes it's hard for women to figure out whether dizziness is causing the anxiety or it's the other way around. This is exactly what this podcast episode is about! Tune in and listen to the pearls of wisdom she shared with us.
This episode covers all major aspects of thyroid issues and their connection with mental health. The thyroid gland produces thyroid hormone that regulates a wide range of body functions and affects almost every cell of the body. When it's not functioning properly as in hypo- or hyperthyroidism, a vast array of disruptions occurs in the body that may also include a higher level of stress and poor mental health. Conventional medicine fails to address the root causes of thyroid disorders and you might be surprised to learn that medications don't actually solve the issues. Functional medicine practitioners like myself focus on supporting women to achieve the optimal ranges of hormones like thyroid hormones and addresses the root causes of suboptimal levels. This way, we can correct thyroid issues before they turn into major diseases. Tune in to fully understand the role of the thyroid gland, the causes of thyroid issues and their implications on mental health, and the holistic ways to fix thyroid-related issues.
In this episode, Paula shares her transformational journey that really signifies the holistic healing. Paula takes us bak to childhood as we explore the origins of her mental health struggles. She endured cultural shock and trauma as a teenage immigrant, which culminated in the diagnosis of depression at the age of 17. She went on and off medication before focusing fulling on holistic healing, realizing that medication was not the solution. Paula also did a lot of trauma work and underwent spiritual and emotional healing. But she was still unwell and was searching for the missing piece to the holistic approach of her treatment. After discovering me, she started addressing physiological conditions such as undiagnosed celiac disease and the resulting inflammation as one of the contributing factors to her struggles. This worked like magic and her energy and vitality recovered like never before. Since then, she is undergoing the detoxification and well on her way to completely eliminate meds for good. Tune in and listen to the inspiring story of her incredible journey.

In this podcast, I am talking about three core areas of the holistic anxiety fix program which is a mind-body way of healing. The first phase is resetting your mindset. In mindset reset, we look at more of tangible approaches to heal anxiety like mindfulness, breathwork, and cognitive behavioral therapy. The next phase to healing anxiety at a foundational level is to look at hidden physiological causes. It's really important to look at a broad range of issues. These include the gut-brain connection, the brain-to-gut connection, blood sugar levels, foods that balance your hormones, fat absorption issues in women, and inflammatory foods that might trigger your anxiety. In the next phase, we look at mineral imbalance in the body. If you're depleted in minerals, a deeper level of healing is never going to happen. Tune in to listen to the detail of each step and know how the Holistic Anxiety Fix is different from other traditional ways of healing anxiety.
Welcome to the account of another incredible healing journey of one of my clients, April. In this episode, we discuss how we worked together first on finding the root cause of her anxiety and then on laying down a structured recovery plan for her. Like a lot of other women with anxiety, physicians offered her anxiety medication, but she refused to go down that road. She was adamant that something was missing in this conventional approach. Determined as she was to get to the bottom of her anxiety riddle she kept seeking answers. During this unrelenting search, she stumbled upon my Facebook group and my anxiety program drew her attention to the aspects of her ailment she was previously unaware of. In collaboration with me, she started following a multi-step, comprehensive system to address her healing until she finally took back control of her life. It was her resolute optimism combined with my informed approach that dragged her out of this debilitating mess called anxiety. Let's tune in and listen to her motivating and inspiring words!
This episode, one of my favorites, contains the discussion with Michael Edwards, who spills the beans about his inspirational journey of healing from stage fright and becoming a therapist. He uses a very specialized kind of hypnotherapy called RTT (Rapid Transformational Therapy). This form of anxiety treatment borrows elements from Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Neuro-linguistic programming, and Hypnosis. Simply put, it entails working with the subconscious mind where all of the repressed emotions from your early childhood are hidden and driving your thoughts and actions without you even realizing it. In the course of the treatment, the patient is made cognizant of the latent programming of their mind that they acquired during their early days as a way of adapting to their specific circumstances. Then, this negative programming that badly affects their life is replaced with a positive one by the therapist. This shift of the mindset then helps them to overcome the self-destructive thought patterns and eliminate the anxiety from its root. Tune in to understand the ins and outs of this wonderful and highly effective treatment method.
In this episode, I decided to get really vulnerable and share my own healing journey so that you can have hope that regardless of how severe your symptoms are, you too can heal too. My journey started in my mid 20's with gut issues after living in Tanzania, Africa. In quest for answers, I saw doctors, naturopaths, and specialists. Several years into my struggle with gut issues, I became plagued with severe anxiety, and it started to impact my personal and social life. Tune in to learn more, about how healing anxiety is not linear and how there are often many layers of healing!
In this episode, I talk with Stephanie Gibbons who shares her healing journey with us. Hers is a journey with lots of twists and turns. For years, she struggled to find out why she was having panic attacks and debilitating anxiety episodes. She couldn't rely on conventional anxiety medications as she was allergic to most and no medical practitioner was able to sort things out for her. Only then did she decide to go completely natural and started looking for answers by herself. During this process, she discovered my anxiety program and we got to talk in detail. I drew her attention to breast implant illness and celiac disease as potential underlying reasons for her anxiety. After initial hesitation, she was able to make some big decisions that allowed her to step forward in her healing in a major way. Join us as she shares how this new approach to anxiety led her to a healthier and more fulfilling life. Tune in to listen to her story in her own words.
In this episode, I talk with Kory McLaughlin about breath work and its healing potential. He shares his journey of becoming a facilitator of a specific type of breathwork- Elemental Breath. He explains how breathing is a powerful tool to connect with our body, which takes us to a place where we can confront and resolve the long-held negative emotions. Tune in to know more about this wonderful anxiolytic technique. You can find Kory on Instagram @korymclaughlincoaching
In this episode, I talk about the interconnection of brain and gut health and how taking care of gut health can heal your anxiety. The gut-brain connection is one of the connections that fascinates me the most. When I learned about this connection, I started to identify gut-brain connection issues in those around me. It became clear to me that many of the individuals who sought therapy for anxiety, or depression also had corresponding gut issues. Everyone's body is different, and therefore no one diet is suitable for everyone. The best way to attain optimum gut health is to switch to a low-inflammatory diet. What you eat, and when you eat it can play a HUGE role in your anxiety symptoms. If you eat foods that promote inflammation- you are going to experience more anxiety. Tune in to learn more. In this episode, I interview one of the Holistic Anxiety Fix program graduates, Katy. Before Joining the program, Katy was experiencing constant worry and not having any type of control over her emotions in any type of situation. It was badly impacting her relationship with her husband and children. During the program, she recognized she was trapped in her own thoughts and looping worries. She was able to see the pattern and break it. Her healing was made easy with her husband's unrelenting support, and being able to connect with other like-minded ladies going through the same journey.
In this episode, we talk to Natalie Nowkawalk about EMDR therapy. This is a specific therapeutic approach that has been shown to be very effective in healing unresolved trauma. Why is this important to anxiety? Because oftentimes unresolved trauma can impact our mindset and our nervous system in ways that we aren't consciously aware of. Ensuring trauma has been properly processed is an important component to healing anxiety
Copper Toxicity is a hidden cause of anxiety tha very few practitioners talk about. Copper is naturally occurring in the body and has many different functions. it's definitely important that we have copper. But what happens when copper starts to accumulate in the body....copper toxicity. It is way more common amongst women than you would think. There are a few ways that you can become copper toxic, the most common cause--birth control. Anxiety is one of the hallmarks of excess copper. This is because excess copper stimulates the adrenal glands. As a result of the ongoing stimulation of the adrenal glands by the excess copper, the adrenal glands slowly begin to burn out. This is a common symptom of ongoing chronic stress and typically happens during the end phases of illness. Copper toxicity can have tremendous impacts across the body and can be a big missing link in people's healing journey. Tune in to learn more
In this episode, I interview one of the Holistic Anxiety Fix program graduates, Jessica. When Jessica first approached me about joining the program, she was at her wit's end. She has been plagued by anxiety for over 12 years. The big challenge for her was that she was afraid to get into her car. She was the sole parent of her 5 children 14 days a month, while her husband worked out west. Jessica used to be was reliant on her mother to help her, but her mom passed away four years ago. Jessica needed to do something different because she had to be able to drive her kids to basketball tournaments. Together, we discuss what strategies were successful for Jessica and what she learned across the program. We explore some of the mindset traps around healing from a conventional medicine perspective versus holistically healing. By the end of the program, Jessica was able to make some incredible gains. Not only was she able to drive her kids out of town, but she could also go shopping in places like Costco without feeling totally overwhelmed. Jessica's transformation allowed her to gain her life back. If you are someone who is struggling with hope to heal, then this episode is for you.
Neurofeedback is a sort of biofeedback that assists you in automatically harmonizing your brain waves (without medications). Your brain "learns" how to bring unusually rapid or slow waves within the typical range during neurofeedback sessions. While we monitor your brain waves, you can relax and watch Netflix. In this episode, we are joined by Prince Ozogbuda, BSc (Hons), MSc, BCN, QEEG-T, Head Neurotherapist at Hoffman Centre. A professional with a strong background in Biomedical Sciences and Neurosciences. Tune in to this podcast and learn how to reward your brain! Key Takeaways: Biofeedback is a technique for self-regulating that measures biophysical characteristics like breathing rates and heart rate variability and uses permission procedures to regulate those activities according to what they appear to be Neurofeedback, also known as Electroencephalogram (EEG) a monitoring device that provides instantaneous permission on how an individual's status, particularly physiological state, is changing. It provides real-time information on your brain and real-time brain activity visualization to teach yourself how to regulate brain function Neurofeedback can't address psychopathology but it is one of the components among others to go back to balance Neurofeedback is retraining our brain. Training your brain to perform the same thing you're doing now, but in a new way Condition in psychology: When you rework an individual to perform the "7th task" they are more inclined to do that task First Step in Training your Brain (RECALL): you need a system that measures and records your brain activity Second Step in Training your Brain (DISPLAY): you need a system to display or feedback that information of that brain activity back to the individual Rewarding the brain, strangely enough, one that actually works is really high pitch sounds of variation of sounds. Alpha Stage: 8 to 12 Hz (Cycle/ Second) is the frequency that your brain will be in relaxing time. Alpha Intuition a very good restful sleep Theta and Delta Stage drive to sleep and if you're awake you can't focus and are unattentive because you're operating with that level of frequencies Beta Frequencies becomes your new norm because you accidentally trained it that relaxation is work even if it isn't Neurofeedback is retraining in order to emphasize a few things: diet, sleep, and relaxation.
