In this episode of the Homeopathy 247 Podcast, host Mary welcomes back Gitanjali Goel to share her insights on one of her favourite remedies: Phosphorus. Together, they explore the unique personality traits, emotional patterns, and physical symptoms connected to this remedy, showing how it can bring balance and resilience to people who feel deeply and give generously. The Personality of Phosphorus Phosphorus is often described as radiant, sensitive, and magnetic—like a candle glowing in a dark room. People who match this remedy type are warm, open-hearted, and love connecting with others. They are often the life of the party, quick to form bonds, and carry an effortless charisma. However, this openness comes with a fragility. Phosphorus types are like emotional sponges, absorbing the moods and energies around them. While this makes them empathetic and caring, it can also leave them drained, anxious, or overwhelmed. Emotional Sensitivity and Fear A hallmark of Phosphorus is fear and anxiety, often centred around illness or impending doom. Unlike other remedy types, reassurance doesn't easily calm them. Even normal test results may not stop their worry. This emotional intensity often spills into physical symptoms, showing how deeply mind and body are connected. Phosphorus people crave connection and reassurance but can also become clingy or restless when left alone. Their need for love and closeness is powerful, yet it can make them vulnerable to overstimulation or emotional burnout. Diffusion and Lack of Boundaries Gitanjali explains that Phosphorus often lacks boundaries, both emotionally and physically. Their energy tends to “diffuse,” spreading outwards in ways they can't control. For example, emotional stress may lead to palpitations, digestive problems, or even a sudden loss of voice. This tendency highlights why homoeopathy doesn't just treat physical symptoms in isolation but looks deeper into the emotional triggers and overall personality picture of the person. Physical Symptoms of Phosphorus Alongside emotional fragility, Phosphorus is well known for physical characteristics, such as: Bleeding tendencies – bright red, spontaneous bleeding (nosebleeds, gum bleeding, heavy bleeding after surgery). Respiratory issues – asthma, coughs, and chest tightness, often triggered by fear or anxiety. Sensitivity to weather – fear of thunderstorms and loud noises, which can cause migraines, diarrhea, or breathlessness. Digestive symptoms – cravings for ice-cold drinks that can lead to vomiting. These traits make phosphorus a versatile and powerful homeopathic remedy. Phosphorus in Daily Life and Animals The remedy is not only valuable for people but also for pets. For example, dogs who panic during thunderstorms or fireworks may find relief with Phosphorus. Its fast-acting nature makes it especially useful in acute situations where fear overwhelms both mind and body. Healing Through Phosphorus Healing with Phosphorus is about more than relieving symptoms. It is about helping individuals restore boundaries, contain their energy, and shine brightly without burning out. With the right support and remedy, people often feel held, safe, and able to regain their natural vitality. As Mary and Gitanjali reflect, Phosphorus teaches us the beauty—and the risk—of openness. It reminds us of the deep link between emotions and physical health, and why both must be understood in order to truly heal. In this episode of Homeopathy 247, Mary Greensmith welcomes back Ann Lovatt, one of the team's experienced homoeopaths. Ann dives into the fascinating world of Argentum Nitricum—a remedy she knows well, both professionally and personally. As a professional violinist, she's relied on this remedy many times to help with performance anxiety. Silver and Gold – A Useful Comparison Ann begins by comparing Argentum Nitricum (made from silver nitrate) with Aurum Metallicum (made from gold). This contrast helps highlight the remedy's qualities: Silver is reflective, linked with the moon, intuition, and changeability. Gold is warm, solar, regal, and tied to vitality, ego, and responsibility. While Aurum carries the weight of leadership and fear of failure on a grand scale, Argentum Nitricum captures the anticipation and anxiety of performance, where self-doubt and worry can feel overwhelming. The Nature of Silver Nitrate Unlike pure silver, silver nitrate has an explosive, reactive quality. This makes Argentum Nitricum more effervescent, expansive, and emotionally intense. Historically, silver was valued for its healing properties—used to line vessels and even in early surgical sutures for its antimicrobial effects. In homoeopathy, these qualities translate into support for the nervous system, mucous membranes, and emotional resilience. Themes of Creativity, Expression, and Anxiety According to Jan Scholten's work linking remedies to the periodic table, Argentum Nitricum belongs in Series 4—associated with creativity, communication, and performance. At its core, this remedy is about: Anticipation and performance anxiety – fear of being judged or failing. Stage fright and exam nerves – doubting whether preparation will be enough. Irrational fears – such as fear of heights, flying, or being trapped. Ann sums it up beautifully with the phrase: “Lost in anticipation.” Physical Symptoms and Body Connections Argentum Nitricum doesn't only affect the mind. It has strong links to the nervous system and the gut, often showing up as: Diarrhoea or stomach upset before stressful events Trembling or weakness Vice-like headaches and feelings of body parts being too large or bound Eye and throat issues, such as redness, spasms, or compulsive throat-clearing Sleep troubles from an overactive mind Interestingly, asthma linked to Argentum Nitricum often improves with movement—though situations like flying, where motion and fresh air are restricted, can worsen symptoms. Differentiating from Other Remedies Ann compares Argentum Nitricum with other remedies often used for anxiety: Aconite – panic-level fear, sudden and acute Gelsemium – inward trembling, weakness, chills Ignatia – emotional ups and downs, sensitivity, tearfulness Argentum Nitricum stands out because of its intensity, irrational fears, and digestive involvement, all tied to anticipation. Everyday Uses This remedy is not only for musicians or public speakers—it can be useful in many everyday situations: Fear of flying or travelling Nervousness before an interview, exam, or driving test Anxiety before making a phone call or attending a meeting Ann explains that modalities (what makes symptoms better or worse) are key: pacing and fresh air may ease symptoms, while heat, sweets, and being trapped can make them worse. Argentum Nitricum is one of the great homoeopathic remedies for anxiety—particularly when anticipation takes over. Whether it's a child nervous about school, an adult facing an interview, or a musician preparing for performance, this remedy helps calm the nerves, support the gut, and restore confidence. Ann leaves us with the takeaway: Argentum Nitricum is for those lost in anticipation—when worry about what might happen stops you living in the moment. In this episode, we explore the powerful cosmic shifts occurring as we navigate the aftermath of the April Full Moon, Mercury's direct motion, and Venus's dance with Saturn. We also discuss Neptune's significant entry into Aries for the first time since April 1861, the impact of solar flares, and the ongoing expansion of consciousness. With the strong presence of Saturn energy and Venus in retrograde, this is a pivotal time to examine your relationship with love, money, beauty, and wealth. You may find yourself grappling with feelings of loneliness, separation, and lack. However, this raw energy invites us to co-create a new chapter for humanity—a "New Earth," as Eckhart Tolle describes, amidst this wave of consciousness expansion. The recent full moon has illuminated the shadows within us, revealing aspects that no longer serve our journey. As Neptune transitions into Aries, consider: What new dreams are you nurturing? Who are you becoming? These questions are essential to your Soul's journey. Now is the time to heighten your intuition and trust in your ability to read energy—both for yourself and others. Remember, not everything you see or hear in the news reflects the deeper truths within you. A spiritual practice can be a valuable ally in this process. By developing tools and techniques, you can cultivate the ability to turn inward, uncovering the answers that reside within. It's time to awaken your Spirit! If you're unsure about how to begin or want to expand your consciousness further, I invite you to schedule a complimentary Spiritual Upgrade Call with me. Together, we can explore the unique gifts and talents waiting to be uncovered. In this episode, I wanted to talk about Spiritual Awakenings. Many people are experiencing these, and not sure what is happening. A spiritual awakening is a profound realization or shift in consciousness that allows you to perceive and understand life from a deeper perspective. This experience often involves a heightened awareness of the self, the universe, and the interconnectedness of all beings. It can lead to a reevaluation of one's beliefs, often resulting in a greater sense of purpose and inner peace. During a spiritual awakening, individuals may experience various phenomena, such as increased intuition, a sense of unity with the world, and a desire for personal growth and transformation. This process can be triggered by various life events, such as trauma, loss, or significant changes, and can manifest in different ways for different people. Ultimately, it is about awakening to a more authentic version of oneself and recognizing the spiritual aspects of existence. It can often be described as a kundalini rising which is an awakening of the dormant spiritual energy believed to reside at the base of the spine, often depicted as a coiled serpent in yogic traditions. This energy is associated with profound spiritual growth and transformation. When awakened, Kundalini energy travels up the spine through the chakras, or energy centers, leading to heightened states of awareness, spiritual enlightenment, and personal transformation This is really important as the mind can start to take over and question everything taking you down the rabbit hole of information. And if you aren't prepared can very often call in lots of shadow energy especially right now with all the shifts in consciousness occuring. It's imporant to learn how to work with this through practices like yoga, meditation, and breathwork guided by someone like myself.. a spiritual teacher. Spiritual awakenings can happen in many ways..for me, it was from a crisis. I was lost, unsure of what to do, and I was searching for help. Talk therapy wasn't getting me any way beyond having someone to talk to which is helpful but I wasn't making progress. I had no belief in myself… until that one day when I was guided to a Spiritual teacher. That day was profound and is still in my memory. A friend had met twins at a new age shop in Roslyn, NY… Dreams East. She went to one twin and me to the other for spiritual counseling. I didn't know what that meant but I knew I needed help. We met, we talked about my life, she guided me with some breathing, and then did some hands-on energy. I left, got back in my car. As I sat there feeling a deep peace, something I hadn't felt in months, I heard a voice.. loud and clear.. saying, You are going to be ok. It was so loud I turned around to see if anyone was in the back seat of my car but it was my Spirit speaking to me.. a message from my soul. It was profound for me. Spiritual awakenings can be. And without the tools and techniques to help it can be frightening for many to have this kind of experience. You may experience various challenges and confusion. Here are some potential outcomes: 1. Emotional Turmoil 2. Identity Crisis 3. Physical Symptoms 4. Relationship Strain 5. Isolation 6. Heightened Sensitivity 7. Confusion and Doubt 8. Resistance to Change 9. Disconnection from Reality 10. Search for Answers Awareness and understanding of the spiritual awakening process can help you navigate these challenges more effectively, providing clarity and context for your experiences. Seeking support from knowledgeable practitioners, like myself, can also be beneficial during this transformative time. So what happens if you don't seek guidance? Many things… you can go down the wrong path… get caught in webs that misguide you… feel lost… maybe even a little crazy… you can take in too much information… not know your energy from others…this happens alot… Which is why it is so important to find someone to help you along this awakening. What I would like to do today is offer a meditation that grounds your energy and helps you to expand the radiant light body so that your energy flows and isn't stuck along this awakening channel. It is time to step forward. Leave the old energy behind, and create more abundance. Don't isolate. Renew your faith. Look up. Look to the stars. Call in your Star People. They're there right now. Let go of all the old drama and the old mindset. It is a choice. Which will you feed? I choose the awakening. I choose to hold and vibrate and shine my light out. How about you? Reach out if you have questions. Schedule a Spiritual Upgrade Call with me. Let's talk about where you are and how I can help through my mentoring programs. So much change is going on. Behind every psychiatric label lies a question: Is this person mentally ill, or just misunderstood by medicine? When Dr. Kaycee Bills, a social work professor with a PhD, experienced a medical emergency from low blood pressure, she was handcuffed, sedated, and locked in a psychiatric ward instead of receiving proper care. Her crime? Being a woman whose scattered Adderall pills looked "suspicious" to authorities. This shocking personal account reveals how women are systematically disbelieved by the medical establishment—diagnosed with depression and anxiety at twice the rate of men, while serious physical conditions go untreated for years. Join Dr. Roger McFillin and Dr. Bills as they expose the dark underbelly of psychiatric holds, forced medication, and how the mental health system often traumatizes those it claims to help. Matt Bair and Ryan Hedrick have personal experience with addiction, having used different drugs and seen firsthand how addiction worsens over time. It often starts casually but becomes more severe as use continues. For caregivers, understanding the stages of addiction can help in finding the right support for their loved one. Addiction is a progressive, incurable condition that can be fatal without treatment. Matt and Ryan's recovery stories show that overcoming addiction is possible with the right help. Addiction usually starts with trying a substance just once. Then, it moves to using it regularly. After that, risky behaviors start, which increases harm. This leads to dependence, where the person feels a strong need for the substance. In the end, addiction takes over, making substance use a central and uncontrollable part of their life. Timestamps and Discussions: Starting Points of Addiction 4:19 - 6:00: Matt's opioid use began with an ear infection, while Ryan started with weed. Drugs and Peer Pressure 6:32 - 7:41: Drugs are often used to fit in during youth, and getting hooked early is common due to peer pressure. Escalation to Regular Use 8:06 - 9:10: Matt and Ryan discuss the intensification of their use. Ryan quickly transitioned from coke to meth, a highly addictive substance. Risks and Recklessness 10:52 - 13:04: The risky use stage is examined. Ryan describes his reckless behavior, including injecting himself and ending up homeless, while Matt talks about drinking alone and hiding his usage. Dependence and Life Takeover 13:13 - 15:04: Matt explains how addiction dominated his life, making it impossible to function without alcohol. Ryan notes that dependence extends to all aspects of life, not just drugs and alcohol. Physical Symptoms of Addiction 15:16 - 17:48: They discuss physical symptoms of addiction, including paranoia and anger when drugs run out, and how these signs can be recognized. The key takeaway is that it's natural for life to be uncertain, and accepting this fact can alleviate the need for control, leading to a lighter mental state. Both anxiety and depression have become more prevalent due to the heightened uncertainty, with many experiencing these feelings, making it important to understand the differences between the two. Anxiety is characterized by apprehension about the future, worried thoughts, and a desire to avoid triggering situations. On the other hand, depression manifests as sadness, hopelessness, and lack of belief in positive outcomes. It's crucial to recognize these thinking symptoms in ourselves and those around us. Physical symptoms differ between anxiety and depression, with anxiety often presenting as the fight or flight response, while depression may lead to severe lack of energy, appetite changes, and sleep disturbances. Moreover, there can be a crossover of symptoms between anxiety and depression, which can exacerbate each other if left unchecked. Seeking help and support if experiencing heightened anxiety or depression is crucial, as both conditions are treatable with the right approach and commitment to improving mental health. It's essential not to feel shame or embarrassment in asking for help and to understand that the path to overcoming these challenges may have ups and downs, requiring patience and self-compassion. Together, we can navigate these difficult emotions and work towards a healthier mental state. Remember, depression lies; it tells you that you've always felt this way and always will, but that's not the truth. Stay strong, be patient with yourself, and know that with effort and time, improvement is possible. Learn more about your ad choices.
