Is Adrenal Fatigue Real? Whoa, this just seems like there is so much mis-information swirling around on this topic. We just want to bring this to peoples awareness. This is not an actual real diagnosis. It isn't something that can be completely controlled. This is simply a blanket term that defines the adrenal system as being overworked. You can have symptoms with this regardless if you have high cortisol production or low. And typically this is seen more so during peri menopause and beyond just due to the extra demands on the adrenal system as women lose estrogen. Again, this is a time in our lives to revamp our lifestyles, create more self-care, ask for more help, practice more stress management, focus on a good sleep routine, limit caffeine and be smarter about the use of alcohol. If anyone has any questions, wants to discuss this more in regards to themselves personally or wants to be on the show to talk about their experrience with life changes, please reach out to between2pastries@gmail.com.

At one point I cried to my doctor because I was just so frustrated…. I thought I needed to eat less, be stricter, exercise harder but none of it was working. In fact, I found myself gaining weight, looking puffier, and feeling more exhausted the harder I tried. Does this sound familiar? "You're just being lazy. It's all in your head" is what I kept telling myself and that only made things worse mentally. It wasn't until I dug deeper into my hormone health and found the root cause I was able to start truly healing and getting back to myself. In this episode, I'm going to explain the four key changes that I implemented that made all the difference for me. We will cover why I backed off of my training, learned to nourish my adrenals with proper nutrition, cut back on caffeine which was incredibly hard at the time, and learned to rebalance my circadian rhythm. Apply To Work With Me: bit.ly/fixmyhormonesnowbit.ly/fixmyhormonesnow Hey friend, Are you waking up exhausted, no matter how much sleep you get? Are you drooling on your keyboard by 3 PM, wondering if napping under your desk is less fireable than falling asleep during a Zoom? Or maybe you want to change your habits, but every attempt feels like a nonstarter. If this sounds familiar, you're not alone. Studies show that 85% of women in midlife experience chronic fatigue, brain fog, and lack of motivation—leaving many of us to wonder: Is it just “aging”, or is something actually wrong? The problem isn't your willpower, your workouts, or even what time you go to bed—it's your hormones. That's because in midlife, hormone shifts can send our brain into energy-conservation mode, draining motivation and making even simple lifestyle changes feel impossible. But here's the good news: Once you understand what's happening biologically, you can stop blaming yourself and start working withyour body to reclaim your energy. In this episode, you will learn: ✔ Why your lack of energy isn't just a phase—and how midlife hormones actually work together to hijack your brain ✔ The impact of adrenal fatigue, insulin resistance, and thyroid function on our energy, mood, and mental drive ✔ Why willpower alone isn't enough—and what your brain actually needs to get you moving ✔ How perimenopause and menopause trick your body into slowing down (and how to override the shutdown) If you find yourself asking: ❓ Why am I so exhausted even after a full night of sleep? ❓ Why do I feel completely unmotivated, even though I want to change? ❓ Is this just part of getting older, or is something actually wrong? Then this episode is for you!
REPLAY - Some of our recent popular episodes to get ready for the new season of Nirvana Sisters... In this episode of the Nirvana Sisters Podcast, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Dr. Elizabeth Poyner, a gynecological oncologist and expert in midlife women's health. Dr. Poyner shared her extensive knowledge on the intersection of hormonal health, stress management, and overall well-being for women, particularly during midlife. We kicked off the conversation by discussing our personal "nirvana" moments of the week, highlighting the joy of seasonal changes and family milestones. Dr. Poyner then delved into her journey from specializing in cancer surgery to focusing on midlife women's health, emphasizing the importance of understanding how stress impacts our bodies and the role of hormones in managing that stress. A significant portion of our discussion centered around adrenal fatigue and HPA axis dysregulation, with Dr. Poyner clarifying the differences between adrenal fatigue and adrenal insufficiency. She explained how chronic stress can lead to dysregulated cortisol production, affecting our overall health. We also explored the importance of androgens, particularly testosterone and DHEA, in women's health. Dr. Poyner highlighted the benefits of these hormones for mood, cognitive function, and overall vitality, while also discussing the various methods of hormone delivery, including creams and troches. As we moved into the topic of brain health, Dr. Poyner shared alarming statistics about women's risk of dementia and the protective role of estrogen. She emphasized the importance of starting hormone replacement therapy early in the menopause transition to potentially reduce dementia risk. Finally, we wrapped up the episode with Dr. Poyner's recommendations for supplements that can support midlife health, including vitamin D, omega-3s, and magnesium, and the significance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through exercise and community engagement. This episode was packed with valuable insights and practical advice for women navigating midlife health challenges. We hope our listeners find this information empowering as they strive for their own nirvana in health and well-being. Apply to work with me: bit.ly/fixmyhormonesnow Hey friend, Ever stopped to ask yourself… "Why are my hormones suddenly so out of control?" Like, why could you eat whatever you wanted in your 20s or 30s, but now, just looking at a plate of pasta feels like an automatic five-pound weight gain? Or why has sleep become so elusive you'd have better luck finding a lost AirPod in your couch cushions? The truth is: hormone imbalance doesn't just happen overnight (even if it feels like it.) Aging and shifting hormones play a big role, but there are deeper, underlying factors that help to tip the scales. Today, I'm diving into the six root causes of hormone imbalance in midlife. In this episode, you will learn: ✔ Why your hormones don't just flip a switch overnight (and what part lifestyle plays in triggering hormone imbalance) ✔ How even one bad night of sleep can negatively impact your metabolism, blood sugar, and hormones ✔ Which sneaky ingredient in your personal care products mimics estrogen and can disrupt your entire endocrine system ✔ Why your go-to workout could be secretly spiking your cortisol, making hormone imbalances worse ✔ The connection between what you eat and how hormones function (Hint: it's so much more than just eliminating sugar or gluten) ✔ How your gut's “recycling” system might be putting excess hormones back into circulation in your body If you're done playing whack-a-mole with your symptoms and want to understand the real root causes of hormone imbalance, this episode is for you. — Next Steps: Think You Might Have A Hormone Imbalance? Vibing Well with Dr. Stacy (A Functional Medicine Approach to Healing)
In today's episode, I reiterate the myth of "adrenal fatigue" and how to start looking at it from a new lens. WHAT is draining your adrenals so much in the first place? What is causing stress hormones to be so high that is contrbuting to that drain? There is ALWAYS something in the day to day that is being overlooked and until we find that "leak" of stress induction, it will be impossible to "balance your minerals" or heal the adrenals. This conversation couldn't be had without talking about the top causes of stress hormones that I have experienced and see with my clients and so we go through that list- some may suprise you and I hope it helps you reassess what you are exposed to (internally and externally) that could be driving up cortisol whether we realize it or not!Lastly, I talk about Infertility; what I see in my practice most commonly, and where I would turn to start supporting. Just like with the high cortisol, there is something in your environment that is making your body favor survival over reproduction, so the minute you can take a step back and assess what that could be for you speicfically, that is the first step in taking back your power and creating a new outcome! (This had to be combined with the high cortisol part of the conversation) NEW CLIENT INQUIRY and testing I mentioned in the episode all start with this intake!Resources:Mycircadian APP DOCTOR (code)Ra Optics (Code DRSTACYND)Bon Charge (Code DRSTACY) red light panel and circadian bulbsHigher Dose (my FAV sauna blanket with low to no EMF) code DRSTACYCGM (Code DRSTACYND)Analemma Water (structuring)Spring Aqua (my FAV water system) Finally, I mentioned my NEW, FOUNDATIONAL group program (Starting in FEB!). covering all of the foundational footwork that I would start with before jumping into detox or supplement protocols.
