1 Corinthians 13:8 is my verse for today and what a great and very popular chapter of the Bible this is! I love that Paul not only lists out what love is, but he also makes note of what love isn't…and that's what resonated with me today.

Season 3 Episode 1 (new year, new season!) is inspired by Deuteronomy 31:6 and the many times in the Bible that God says to be strong. Be strong. He makes it sound so easy. But if we are being honest, most of the time we do not feel strong. Here's the good news, you don't have to feel strong to be strong…listen to this episode to find out why.

Questions to think about: -When was the last time you intentionally took a lower position or served someone else instead of seeking recognition or praise? - In what ways do you seek honor, praise or status in your daily life? How might choosing humility open more opportunities to glorify God? - Jesus emphasis that we all need repentance l, not just those who have obvious struggles. In this Episode of our Advent Series, Sam is catching us up on Luke chapters 8-12. Sam touches on God healing the bleeding woman, the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus' visit with Mary and Martha as well as being prepared and expectant. Questions to think about: Healing the bleeding woman -Can you think of a time in your life when you've had to have faith even when it didn't feel like God was nearby? -We know that Jesus likely knew who touched him, He probably could have just smiled and kept on walking. Why do you think that He made a point to stop and ask who touched Him? Martha and Mary -This Advent season are you relating more to Martha or Mary in this story? -What things could you let go of this holiday season to make sure that you are spending time filling your heart with Jesus and not getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season? -What matters to you most this holiday season? In Like chapters 5-7 Jesus begins public miracles and public teaching. He chooses his disciples, catches fish, heals the ill and even raises a life. He preaches great lessons, shares the Beatitudes, and shows what it means to be defiant in the name of love. Questions to think about: -Are there boundaries that you have set for loving others that Jesus would challenge you to break down? - what does it mean to love boldly, even if it risks critism or misunderstanding? - Jesus' love was always active. How can you love someone this week in a way that reflects His way- without seeking recognition or worrying how it might make you appear to this world? -Who in your life might need a reminder that they are loved by God? Advent Series, Luke chapter 4: In chapter 4 Luke Jesus spends 40 days in the desert being tempted by Satan and then begins His ministry only to be rejected by the people in his hometown of Nazareth. Questions to think about: -How do you typically respond to temptations? What can we learn from Jesus example of turning to scripture? -In what areas of your life are you tempted to compromise your values or identity for comfort or success? -When you face challenges, do you view them as opportunities for spiritual growth? How might this perspective help you handle difficulties? -Have you experienced rejection from those closest to you when you stepped into a new role or embraced your faith? How did you respond?-How can you demonstrate grace to those who may struggle to understand or accept your faith journey? Encouragement: Luke chapter 4 encourages us to trust in God's word, remain steadfast in our purpose despite life's challenges, and to find hope in Jesus' authority as we lean into the dreams in our hearts and become the person that God created us to be. Advent Series, Luke chapter 3: In chapter 3 Luke Jesus is now 30 so we've advanced 18 years in Jesus life from Chapter 2. This chapter focuses mainly on John the Baptist, some of his teaching and the baptism of Jesus. Questions to think about: -What are some ways that your life is planting seeds or preparing hearts to receive the love of Jesus? - Can you think of someone in your life who makes you want to grow closer in your relationship with God? What characteristics do they possess? -How might you be able to share the love of God with someone today through your actions? Encouragement: Advent is a time to prepare our hearts to celebrate the coming of the Lord, we can also focus during Advent on living our lives in a way that can also prepare the hearts of the people in our lives. Be open to opportunities to share your story with someone and how God has changed your life. If you feel a tug on your heart to share a gift, feed someone, listen to someone or offer a smile or a hug this week, be bold and do it. Quoted Scripture: Joshua 1:9

Advent Series, Luke chapter 2: In chapter 2 Luke takes us from Jesus' birth to 12 years old. We learn a little about Simeon and Anna, who recognize the Babe as our Lord and Savior. Questions to think about: - Do you spend quiet time everyday with God? -Are you expecting to see God working in your life? -What things might you have missed in your life if you weren't looking for Gods blessings? -Can you think of a time when an answer to a prayer or a blessing was right in front of you, but you missed it because your heart wasn't prepared? Encouragement: Advent is a time to prepare our hearts to celebrate the coming of the Lord. Use the next few weeks leading up to Christmas to commit to spending some quiet time each day in prayer, reading the Bible, journaling or meditating on Gods word (pick a verse and just sit quietly and think about it). See how this helps prepare your heart to see God working in your life. Quoted Scripture: Joshua 1:9

Advent Series, Luke chapter 1; Doubt is a silencer. Faith allows us to experience Gods power, love and presence in ways we cannot imagine. Questions to think about: -What areas in your life is doubt holding you back? -What things are on your heart that require faith to take the first step? -How have you been responding to God when you feel tugs on your heart that you don't feel ‘ready' or ‘qualified' for? Are you doubtful or curious and excited to see how God works through you? Encouragement: Pray and ask God to open your heart to say yes to His plans for your life. Ask him not if, but how He is going to work through you and to just reveal the first step. (It's up to you to take it!) Note: Sam misspoke in this episode stating that there are 25 chapters in the book of Luke, there are 24 Chapters in the book of Luke. Quoted Scripture: Luke 1:45, Joshua 1:9

In Episode 16: You don't know what you are talking about, Sam shares her experience in learning that even though we think we know ourselves, we serve a God who knows us better. Listening to ourselves just might be holding us back from becoming who God created us to be so let's start listening to what He says about us!

Season 2, Episode 13 Why prayer is more than a nice gesture It today's episode Sam shares her thoughts and some Biblical references about the power of prayer, why we should adopt a prayer mindset and why we should use the term ‘I'll pray for you' lightly. Small spoiler here, Sam does get emotional in this episode sharing an experience that she had with prayer when her daughter was sick a few years ago. It was hard for her to tell, it might also be hard for listeners to hear. Please know this story was shared with the sole purpose of encouraging others.

Episode 51: Sam shares some of her best tips for time management and boundary setting that have helped her grow her business, be present for her kids, spend at least a little extra time with her husband and serve God all while keeping her peace (at least most of the time!).

In this episode 50, Sam dives into the Bible about what it means to bear good fruit and encourages her listeners to share their fruits with others. After all, you've never seen an apple tree eating it's own apples, have you?

In Episode 49 Sam talks about how important prayer is and how important it is to take faithful action on your prayers to steward your gifts in God glorifying ways. Simply put, if you want want more, you need to steward what you have well.

In this episode, Sam shares a presentation that she shared over the weekend at a woman's conference (This is Us, Women on the Rock! at Natrona Heights Presbyterian Church) regarding her own personal experience in how God called her to exchange her heart of stone for a heart of flesh to draw her closer to Him during a time in her life that she needed Him most.

Happy New Year! As we set goals and venture into a new year, I want you to remember that the calls in your heart aren't only for you. I hope this episode helps give you the confidence to start taking action when God calls you to both big and small things!

Episode 45, Shaming people in Gods name is wrong. There I said it. In this episode Sam talks about how ‘religious folk' so often get it wrong. You know, that command about loving others as Jesus loved us? The holiday season is a perfect time to display the love of Jesus to our loved ones, but too many times, we screw it up. It's so very important that we start getting it right.

Not sure what Gods purpose for your life is? Start with your hardest times. In Episode 44 Sam encourages her listeners to explore that purpose often comes from some of the most difficult parts of their lives. Being a great leader often comes from having a bad one, becoming an encouragement to others often comes from a discouraging situation, compassion for others often comes from experiencing something similar. By reflecting on some of the less desirable parts of our lives, we just might find how God wants to use us.

In this episode Sam talks about how Gods plans for us can impact generations and span further than we may ever know. She encourages her listeners to take time to be grateful for this whose imprint has impacted them and also to take action on their own path in order to leave that kind of God ordained impact on others.

Ever just been in a rut? In Episode 42 Sam shares some ways that have helped her when she falls into those too busy, overwhelmed, loss of enthusiasm times.

In Episode 41 Sam talks about the importance of having the right tools for your journey. Would you go on a road trip without your gps? Probably not. And would you ask just anyone to ride shot gun? I don't think so. As we run the race of life (or drive it in this analogy) how we get there really does matter.
