Bioneers: Revolution From the Heart of Nature | Bioneers Radio Series
Scientific evidence is increasingly supporting the theory that the Earth is alive and replete with intelligence. In fact, the wild diversity of earthly organisms exhibits the characteristics that human beings attribute to personhood. How is it then, by the law, that a corporation is a person, but nature is not? What if we expand the anthropocentric boundaries of our systems of laws, rights and responsibilities to encompass ALL living beings? How would this new legal story affect our relationship with our vast other-than-human Earth family? In this episode, we imagine a planet with rights for all, with visionary lawyer César Rodríguez-Garavito. This is an episode of Nature's Genius, a Bioneers podcast series exploring how the sentient symphony of life holds the solutions we need to balance human civilization with living systems. Visit the series page to learn more. César Rodríguez-Garavito, a Professor of Clinical Law, Chair of the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice, and founding Director of the More Than Human Life (MOTH) Program and the Earth Rights Advocacy Program (all based at NYU School of Law), is a human rights and environmental justice scholar and practitioner whose work and publications focus on climate change, Indigenous peoples' rights, and the human rights movement. Swamiji narrates the stories of Priyavrat and King Bharat, illustrating the central truth that the only purpose of human life is God-realization. Priyavrat, though initially detached, was persuaded to rule the kingdom. Even while fulfilling worldly duties, he remained inwardly devoted, showing that spiritual pursuit can continue amidst responsibilities. King Bharat, despite great devotion, became attached to a deer in his later years. This attachment led him to take birth again, teaching that even subtle worldly ties can obstruct liberation. Swamiji emphasizes that these stories reveal the essence of Dharma: worldly duties and achievements are temporary, but Bhakti and surrender to God alone grant ultimate fulfillment and liberation. About Swami Mukundananda: Swami Mukundananda is a renowned spiritual leader, Vedic scholar, Bhakti saint, best‑selling author, and an international authority on the subject of mind management. He is the founder of the unique yogic system called JKYog. Swamiji holds distinguished degrees in Engineering and Management from IIT and IIM. Having taken the renounced order of life (sanyas), he is the senior disciple of Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj, and has been sharing Vedic wisdom across the globe for decades.
A constitutional remedy at source I believe should be a human remedy. We are human, but if not breastfed up to the age of 5 when our immune system and nervous system, among others, finally become fully developed, we piggy-back on other plants, minerals and animals to allow life to continue. However, by doing that, we shorten our life span which should be a good 150-200 years. This in addition to the corrupted DNA of two and a half thousand years where babies are born with the memories of diseases like scabies, leprosy and syphilis – being born with paces of life that copy the disease patterns of these miasms. Adding the environmental pollutants and state of the human condition we now live shorter life spans than our DNA 5000 years ago would have provided for us. In one of the signature pitches for the curveball throwing Messiah, Jesus heals on the Sabbath, as recorded in Luke 13:10-17, and in so doing has much to say - both in his day and ours - about the sanctity of human life and the nature of true religion.
What does it mean to be human, and why does that question matter so deeply in today's debates about abortion, bioethics, and personhood? In this episode of Native Exiles, Steve and Wyatt engage one of the most urgent moral and theological issues of our time: the sanctity of human life. Rather than beginning with political arguments or cultural talking points, they ground the conversation in the biblical vision of humanity as created in the image of God and known by Him from the very beginning. In the first half of the episode, Steve and Wyatt trace the theological foundations for the value of human life, from Genesis to the psalms and into the New Testament. Steve and Wyatt show how Scripture consistently affirms the dignity, worth, and moral significance of every human person, including the unborn. In the second half, the conversation turns to contemporary challenges, including abortion, medical technology, and shifting cultural definitions of life and autonomy. The discussion also addresses how the church can speak clearly and compassionately—upholding the sanctity of life while embodying grace, mercy, and hope for those touched by loss, fear, or difficult decisions. Also check out the link to the position papers which includes the paper on the Sanctity of Human Life. Native Exiles is a podcast from Alderwood Community Church, where we talk about following Jesus in the tension of being in the world but not of it. For more questions and inquiries, reach us at reachus@amcc.org or visit us on our website at nativeexiles.com.
Why does the world say it's okay to have an abortion? Romans 1:18-25 answers this question. God's righteous wrath comes on men who suppress the truth in idolatry. So only the Gospel of Jesus Christ can resolve this problem.
In an era where artificial intelligence (AI) and sensing technologies are rapidly evolving, the ability to detect human presence beyond traditional visual means has emerged as a groundbreaking frontier. Natalya Lopareva, CEO and founder of Algorized, delves into the innovative approaches being developed to sense human life in environments where conventional methods fall short. She explains the significance of these advancements, the underlying technologies, and the potential implications for various industries. The Need for Advanced Human DetectionThe initial motivation behind Algorized's research stemmed from a noble cause: aiding rescue missions by locating individuals trapped in buildings. Traditional methods relying on cameras and thermal imaging often fail in scenarios where visibility is compromised, such as collapsed structures or dark environments. This limitation raised a critical question: how can we discern human presence when visual cues are absent? The answer lies in understanding the physiological signals emitted by the human body, such as heartbeats and breathing patterns. As Natalya explains, the early research focused on detecting these vital signs, which are fundamental indicators of life. This foundational work laid the groundwork for broader applications beyond emergency response, revealing that every major industry has a pressing need for accurate human sensing capabilities. From automotive safety to industrial automation, the ability to detect human presence, regardless of visibility, can significantly enhance operational safety and efficiency.Technological Innovations in Human SensingAlgorized's journey from wall-penetrating technology to versatile human detection systems illustrates the transformative potential of AI in understanding human presence. The company has developed foundation models capable of sensing individuals in various contexts, whether in a car, an industrial setting, or even behind walls. This technology operates on the principle that the data derived from physiological signals can be interpreted similarly, regardless of the environment. For instance, in the automotive industry, manufacturers are increasingly concerned about the safety of passengers, particularly vulnerable individuals such as infants left unattended in vehicles. Algorized's technology can detect the presence of a child through non-visual means, providing an essential layer of safety that traditional camera systems may overlook. This capability not only enhances the safety of passengers but also addresses significant liability concerns for manufacturers.Bridging the Human-Machine GapOne of the most compelling aspects of Algorized's work is its focus on fostering collaboration between humans and machines. As Natalya articulates, the challenge is not merely about preventing machines from becoming dangerous; it is about creating a safe coexistence where machines can understand human intentions and respond appropriately. By equipping robots and automated systems with the ability to detect human presence and emotional states, we can establish a more harmonious interaction between humans and technology. This vision is particularly relevant in the context of physical AI, which often relies on visual data to interpret its surroundings. While cameras provide valuable information, they can be limited by factors such as lighting conditions or obstructions. In contrast, Algorized's approach enables machines to perceive human presence in a more nuanced and reliable manner, allowing them to adapt their behavior based on the real-time understanding of human activity.Implications for the FutureThe implications of detecting human presence beyond sight are profound. As industries continue to integrate AI and automation into their operations, the ability to sense human life accurately will play a crucial role in ensuring safety and efficiency. In healthcare, for example, this technology could revolutionize patient monitoring, allowing for real-time assessments of vital signs without intrusive methods. In manufacturing, it could enhance worker safety by enabling machines to recognize and respond to human presence dynamically. Moreover, as society grapples with the ethical considerations of AI and automation, technologies that prioritize human safety and well-being will be paramount. By focusing on true human-machine collaboration, Algorized is paving the way for a future where technology serves as an ally rather than a threat.ConclusionDetecting human presence beyond sight represents a significant leap forward in the capabilities of AI and sensing technologies. As demonstrated by Algorized's innovative approaches, the ability to discern vital signs and human activity in various environments holds immense potential for enhancing safety, efficiency, and collaboration across industries. By prioritizing human understanding in the development of AI, we can create a future where technology not only complements human life but actively contributes to its preservation and enhancement. As we continue to explore this frontier, the promise of a safer, more interconnected world becomes increasingly attainable.Interview by Scott Ertz of F5 Live: Refreshing Technology.Sponsored by: Get $5 to protect your credit card information online with Privacy. Daily news media, whether on television or social media, is often troubling and unsettling, particularly because the media seems to focus excessively on the tragic and even dehumanizing stories of conflict, violence, or war. Why not take a moment to consider some good news? Life is a gift. Every human person is a masterpiece of God's creative love, endowed—as our Declaration of Independence states, with "certain inalienable rights" that include "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". May we commit ourselves to public witness to these truths, respecting the gift of our own life and the lives of others. In the eyes of God, all possess an infinite dignity as Temples of the Holy Spirit. And may we come together to ensure the sanctity of life is defended, protected, and celebrated—always.
In observation of Sanctity of Life Sunday, Pastor Nicoletti presents a sermon titled “Disability, Abortion, and the Sanctity of All Human Life” and taken from Psalm 127.
In January 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a presidential proclamation to create National Sanctity of Human Life Day, which is usually celebrated on the third Sunday of January. Each year, pastors and churches across the United States use this day to bring awareness to the attacks against human life through the abortion industry. Join us for a special presentation from Kenneth Aycock from Families 4 Families, a faith-based foster care agency committed to connecting local churches with loving families to care for children in Georgia’s foster system. Together, we’ll learn of the many ways people can get involved in foster care and ask, “What can we say ‘yes’ to today?”
Psalm 8English Standard VersionTo the choirmaster: according to The Gittith. A Psalm of David.8 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger.3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,4 what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet,7 all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field,8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.9 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Because every person bears God's image, every human life has God-given dignity and is meant to flourish even in a broken world. Therefore, God calls His people to protect, honor, and care for every human life - especially the vulnerable.

The sermon centers on the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death, grounding its argument in Scripture and the belief that every human being is created in God's image, imbued with inherent dignity and value. It emphasizes that life begins at conception, affirmed by Psalm 139 and Genesis, and that the deliberate termination of unborn life constitutes murder, a violation of God's commandment, not a matter of personal choice. The preacher calls the church to move beyond mere remembrance to active engagement, highlighting the Open Arms Pregnancy Clinic as a Christ-centered, non-judgmental ministry that offers medical, emotional, and spiritual support to women and men facing unplanned pregnancies. Through prayer, financial giving, professional service, and practical involvement, believers are invited to participate in protecting life and advancing God's kingdom, with the ultimate goal of both preserving human life and sharing the gospel. The tone is both pastoral and urgent, blending conviction with compassion, and urging the congregation to respond to God's call with purpose and faithfulness.
The Sanctity of Human Life: A Biblical Defense by Pastor Josh Robinson.Recorded January 18, 2026.
Using Jeremiah 18–19, we are reminded that before life is a social or political issue, it is first a God issue. Scripture takes us to the potter's house, where God reveals Himself as the Creator who forms every life with intention, care, and purpose. We will reflect on what it means to live in a world where human life is often measured by usefulness or convenience, and why the Bible anchors the value of every person in the hands of God.In this message, we speak clearly about the sacredness of human life, while also holding out the grace, healing, and hope found in Jesus Christ. It is our prayer that this message will lead us not only to affirm the sanctity of life, but to worship the God who gives it, redeems it, and calls His church to protect it.

A shooting in Minneapolis, a shooting in Portland, and over 1,000 protests planned across the United States. But very little context or rational analysis. Dozens to hundreds of people are shot and killed or injured in the two previous cities alone every year, and yet those deaths usually go unnoticed. Every side tries to spin the story to their preference while other stories, such as mass protests in Iran conveniently following calls for regime change, also go unnoticed. The optics and framing give people on both sides purpose with no requirement to think or act responsibly. It's just one battle after another. *The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. Thank you for lending us your ears and your heart. If you have been following us since around Episode 70 you know that we have been covering the Audiences of St. John Paul II that make up the book titled, "Man and Woman He created Them, The Theology of the Body". In this show Adele, Tom and Becky will cover the final chapters of the book as they share why JP II thought the document, "Humane Vitae" (of Human Life) was the coaching manual for not just a better life but a perfect life. The team will also discuss how the great pope saint pointed to a particular power needed to gain not just personal perfection but perfection in relationships as well.
In this end-of-year episode of Beautiful Work Beautiful Life, cohosts Laurel Holland and Laurel Boivin invite listeners into a deeper, more intimate look at their emotional lives. Rather than focusing on year-end accomplishments, this conversation turns inward toward the lived emotional landscape that shaped the year: grief, anger, fear, and joy. Together, Laurel and Laurel explore why emotions are such powerful messengers, how resistance keeps us from processing what we feel, and how building emotional capacity leads to a fuller, more connected life. You'll be gently guided to reflect honestly on how you felt this year, what those feelings revealed, and what emotional patterns are asking for attention as you step into a new season of growth. It's a spacious and soulful invitation to reconnect with yourself, and to design your year ahead from a place of deeper self-awareness. In this episode: * Why developing emotional awareness is essential to authentic living * Four foundational emotional “quadrants”: grief, anger, fear, and joy * The subtle but powerful role trust plays in your ability to feel joy * How to reflect on your emotional year — the highs, lows, and everything in between * Using your emotional inventory to guide the year ahead Your End-of-Year Emotional Inventory: Grief — What was lost, disappointing, or unprocessed? Anger — What boundaries need strengthening or revisiting? Fear — What held you back, protected you, or asked for healing? Joy — What delighted you, inspired you, or called you forward? Journaling prompts are suggested to further your exploration. 1. What losses or disappointments did I experience this year? 2. What sadness have I acknowledged — and what have I avoided? 3. How do I give myself space to sit with and feel my grief? 4. What “small” griefs or disappointments did I minimize or judge as “not a big deal”? 5. What am I angry about from this past year? 6. How is my anger serving me? 7. Where are boundaries needed, strengthened, or repaired? 8. What forgiveness work is calling to me — toward others or myself? 9. In what ways am I still blaming others instead of tending to my own inner work? 10. What did I feel afraid of this year, and how did that shape my choices? 11. When was fear trying to keep me safe — and when was it limiting my life? 12. Where do I feel anxiety, and what emotion might be underneath it (grief, anger, disappointment, etc.)? 13. How can I begin to build a more compassionate relationship with my fear? 14. What genuinely brought me joy or delight this year? 15. Where did I expect joy and not find it — and what does that reveal about my expectations or needs? 16. What gets in the way of me allowing or receiving joy? 17. Where do I need more trust — in myself, others, or life — to experience more joy? On this very special episode, Razib talks to paleoanthroplogists John Hawks and Chris Stringer. Hawks is a paleoanthropologist who has been a researcher and commentator in human evolutionary biology and paleoanthropology for over two decades. With a widely read weblog (now on Substack), a book on Homo naledi, and highly cited scientific papers, Hawks is an essential voice in understanding the origins of our species. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1994 with degrees in French, English, and Anthropology, and received both his M.A. and Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Michigan, where he studied under Milford Wolpoff. He is currently working on a textbook on the origins of modern humans in their evolutionary context. Hawks has already been a guest on Unsupervised Learning three times. Chris Stringer is affiliated with the Natural History Museum in London. Stringer is the author of African Exodus. The Origins of Modern Humanity, Lone Survivors: How We Came to Be the Only Humans on Earth and Homo Britannicus - The Incredible Story of Human Life in Britain. A proponent since the 1970's of the recent African origin of modern humans, he has also for decades been at the center of debates around our species' relationship to Neanderthals. In the 1980's, with the rise to prominence of the molecular model of "mtDNA Eve," Stringer came to the fore as a paleoanthropological voice lending support to the genetic insights that pointed to our African origins. Trained as an anatomist, Stringer asserted that the fossil evidence was in alignment with the mtDNA phylogenies, a contention that has been broadly confirmed over the last five decades. Razib, Hawks and Stringer discuss the latest work that has come out of Yuxian, China, and how it updates our understanding of human morphological diversity, and integrate it with the newest findings about Denisovans from whole genome sequencing. They talk about how we exist at a junction, with more and more data, but theories that are becoming more and more rickety in terms of explaining the patterns we see. Hawks talks about the skewing effect of selection on phylogenetic trees, while Stringer addresses the complexity of the fossil record in East Asia.
Kelsi talks with Assistant Professor of Pastoral Ministry and Missions, John Pless, about compiling and editing, The Essential Nestingen: Essays on Preaching, Catechism, and the Reformation. These essays were written by Dr. Pless' good friend, James Arne Nestingen (1945-2022). Jim was a beloved pastor, seminary professor, and most of all a confessor and preacher of the Gospel of Jesus. John talks about his friendship with Jim, Jim's legacy and the importance of collaboration within Lutheran theology. Rev. John T. Pless is assistant professor of pastoral ministry and missions at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He also serves as the director of field education for the seminary. Previously, Rev. Pless spent seventeen years as a campus pastor at University Lutheran Chapel at the University of Minnesota. He is the book review editor for Logia: A Journal of Lutheran Theology and a member of the editorial council of Lutheran Quarterly. In addition, Rev. Pless is copresident of the International Loehe Society, a regular lecturer at various conferences, and a member of the LCMS Committee on the Sanctity of Human Life. Rev. Pless received his BA from Texas Lutheran College and his MDiv from Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, Ohio.Show Notes: Support 15171517 PodcastsThe 1517 Podcast Network on Apple Podcasts1517 on YouTubeKelsi KlembaraFollow Kelsi on InstagramFollow Kelsi on TwitterKelsi's NewsletterSubscribe to the Show:Apple PodcastsSpotifyYoutubeMore from Dr. Pless: The Essential NestingenPastor CraftLuther's Large Catechism with Annotations and Contemporary Applications
The Historical Roots of Russian Brutality and Putin's Ideological Driver. Professor Eugene Finkel explains that the pervasive cruelty in Russian forces stems from a historical willingness to use extreme violence, where human life is cheap, evident from Stalin's cynical fears of losing Ukraine to modern conflicts. Russians are willing to make Ukraine a desert to secure control, employing methods consistent with their actions in Chechnya and Syria. In 2022, Putin, trapped in isolation with like-minded nationalists, believed Ukrainians would not fight back. His motivation was the fundamental belief that Ukraine is not a real state and must not defy Russia by choosing its own path. Guest: Professor Eugene Finkel.
