Life is tough, and when we make bad choices, it's really tough. Our suffering is not merely because of destiny or the devil; sometimes we suffer for our own dumb decisions. We see this in Israel's story. Like parents who want their kids to succeed, God longed for Israel to thrive rather than only suffer, “Oh that they had such a heart as this always, to fear me and to keep all my commandments, that it might go well with them and with their descendants forever!” We will inevitably suffer in this life, Jesus told us that. But are there ways you are suffering today that God wants you to avoid? “For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God's will, than for doing evil.” (1 Peter 3:17)Take-Home Message: Not all suffering is necessary. The Suffering of Dissatisfaction (1-9)What makes me dissatisfied with the fruit of my work?Envy (4:4)Greed (5:13-14)Stinginess (5:13-17; 6:3-6)Discontentment (6:7-9)Take-Home LessonFind satisfaction in Christ. The Suffering of an Unwillingness to Accept God's Plan (10-12)Take-Home LessonSurrender to God's plan.

Your destiny is largely determined by the questions you ask yourself—and how you answer them. Before the very first Christmas, Mary, who became the mother of Jesus, had to ask herself a very important question: Will I accept God's destiny for me? In this series, Pastor Rick invites you to ask yourself that same question. What made Mary so special was not that she was sinless—because she wasn't. Mary was special because she was willing to accept God's destiny for her. That acceptance changed the course of her life and the course of human history. In this message series, Pastor Rick gives five reasons why accepting God's destiny was best for Mary—and why it's best for you too.God's destiny for your life isn't always the easiest path—but it is always the best! We live in a world where everything has to be earned: success, approval, even love. But grace doesn't work that way. God's grace is a gift we could never earn and don't deserve. In this episode, Sam shares how striving to earn God's love misses the beauty of His unearned grace. She also reminds listeners that our view of God is often shaped by our earthly fathers, but God is not a bigger version of our dad. He is perfect in love, mercy, and compassion, and His grace is unlike anything else we'll ever experience. Key Scriptures: •Ephesians 2:8–9: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.” •Titus 3:5: “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.” •Psalm 103:13: “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.”

Ephesians 4:31-32Forgiveness is the key that unlocks you from the trap of an offense. Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me?  Seven times?”  No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!”  Matthew 18:21-22Then the king called in the man he had forgiven and said, ‘You evil servant! I forgave you that tremendous debt because you pleaded with me.  Shouldn't you have mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had mercy on you?' Just as God was the sufficiency of all the normal people who lived in Bible times, so He can be the full sufficiency of all the normal people who live in 2025 - including you and me. We are rich when we put God at the centre of our lives. We need nothing more in this age or in the one to come! In today’s episode of Your Daily Prayer, Kyle Norman explores the profound spiritual challenge and invitation of Isaiah 6:8—God’s call to step into His purpose with the words, “Here I am, send me.” This devotion reflects on the fear, self-doubt, and hesitation that often accompany God’s call, using examples from biblical figures like Moses, Sarah, Jeremiah, and Peter to highlight that reluctance is a natural human response. But God’s call persists, not because of our perfection, but because of His grace. Whether you’re feeling unworthy, unprepared, or unsure, this prayer will encourage you to trust that God equips those He calls and invites you to boldly respond with faith. Topics covered: The meaning and challenge behind Isaiah 6:8 Biblical examples of hesitation and God's patient call Why God’s call is rooted in His grace, not our qualifications Encouragement for those discerning their purpose or ministry A prayer for boldness and surrender to God’s will Scripture References Isaiah 6:8 (ESV) “And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘Here I am! Lesson of the Day 105 - God's Peace And Joy Are Mine with Clare

Voice From Heaven

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 15, 2025 53:18

LESSON 105God's Peace And Joy Are Mine.God's peace and joy are yours. Today we will accept them, knowing they belong to us. And we will try to understand these gifts increase as we receive them. They are not like to the gifts the world can give, in which the giver loses as he gives the gift; the taker is the richer by his loss. Such are not gifts, but bargains made with guilt. The truly given gift entails no loss. It is impossible that one can gain because another loses. This implies a limit and an insufficiency. No gift is given thus. Such “gifts” are but a bid for a more valuable return; a loan with interest to be paid in full; a temporary lending, meant to be a pledge of debt to be repaid with more than was received by him who took the gift. This strange distortion of what giving means pervades all levels of the world you see. It strips all meaning from the gifts you give, and leaves you nothing in the ones you take.A major learning goal this course has set is to reverse your view of giving, so you can receive. For giving has become a source of fear, and so you would avoid the only means by which you can receive. Accept God's peace and joy, and you will learn a different way of looking at a gift. God's gifts will never lessen when they are given away. They but increase thereby. As Heaven's peace and joy intensify when you accept them as God's gift to you, so does the joy of your Creator grow when you accept His joy and peace as yours. True giving is creation. It extends the limitless to the unlimited, eternity to timelessness, and love unto itself. It adds to all that is complete already, not in simple terms of adding more, for that implies that it was less before. It adds by letting what cannot contain itself fulfill its aim of giving everything it has away, securing it forever for itself.Today accept God's peace and joy as yours. Let Him complete Himself as He defines completion. You will understand that what completes Him must complete His Son as well. He cannot give through loss. No more can you. Receive His gift of joy and peace today, and He will thank you for your gift to Him.Today our practice periods will start a little differently. Begin today by thinking of those brothers who have been denied by you the peace and joy that are their right under the equal laws of God. Here you denied them to yourself. And here you must return to claim them as your own.Think of your “enemies” a little while, and tell each one, as he occurs to you:My brother, peace and joy I offer you,That I may have God's peace and joy as mine. Thus you prepare yourself to recognize God's gifts to you, and let your mind be free of all that would prevent success today. Now are you ready to accept the gift of peace and joy that God has given you. Now are you ready to experience the joy and peace you have denied yourself. Now you can say, “God's peace and joy are mine,” for you have given what you would receive. You must succeed today, if you prepare your mind as we suggest. For you have let all bars to peace and joy be lifted up, and what is yours can come to you at last. So tell yourself, “God's peace and joy are mine,” and close your eyes a while, and let His Voice assure you that the words you speak are true.Spend your five minutes thus with Him each time you can today, but do not think that less is worthless when you cannot give Him more. At least remember hourly to say the words which call to Him to give you what He wills to give, and wills you to receive. Determine not to interfere today with what He wills. And if a brother seems to tempt you to deny God's gift to him, see it as but another chance to let yourself receive the gifts of God as yours. Then bless your brother thankfully, and say:My brother, peace and joy I offer you,That I may have God's peace and joy as mine.- Jesus Christ in ACIM

Be Bold & Accept God's LoveRomans 8:35 “Who could ever divorce us from the endless love of God's Anointed One? Absolutely no one! For nothing in the universe has the power to diminish his love toward us. Troubles, pressures, and problems are unable to come between us and heaven's love. What about persecutions, deprivations, dangers, and death threats? No, for they are all impotent to hinder omnipotent love.”This is the passion translation again. I decided this morning to open it, read some of it, and see what jumped out at me. I really liked all of chapter 8, but I thought it best to limit it to a verse or two. It was tough to decide between this verse and the verses at the end of this section. This section in Chapter 8 is called “The Triumph of God's Love.” Can you tell just by the title why I loved all of it? The end of this section was similar to this verse, yet it said it in a different, equally compelling way. I will probably use those verses on Thursday or Friday, so stay tuned.I decided on this verse today because it drives home something that I try to help people see. Something I wish everyone in the world knew down deep in the depths of their hearts. God loves us ALWAYS, NO MATTER WHAT WE DO! The verse starts by asking us a question. “Who could ever divorce us from the endless love of God's Anointed One?” I like that it uses the word divorce, which is a word where, unfortunately, everyone knows the meaning. The verse answers that question with an, “Absolutely no one!” There is so much in that one sentence. That one sentence tells us that no one could ever divorce us from Jesus' love. Divorce means to separate something from something else. The verse is saying no one can separate us from the endless love of God's Anointed One. This tells us that the love is endless. It is not fickle like human love. It doesn't come and go with the changing of the winds or the changing of our moods. God's love is endless. The next line says, “For nothing in the universe has the power to diminish his love toward us. Troubles, pressures, and problems are unable to come between us and heaven's love.” The first part was saying no one could come between us; now this verse says nothing can come between us. We might agree that no person could come between us and God, and yet we struggle to believe that nothing can come between us. We think our failures make it so God can't love us. We think our sins make it so God can't love us. This verse shows us that NOTHING in this universe has the power to diminish His love towards us.It even says that troubles, pressures, and problems are unable to come between us and heaven's love. I think it is really important to know this because what it doesn't say in this verse is no one, and nothing will try to come between us and heaven's love. You will find plenty of people that want to come between you and heaven's love. You will find plenty of things that the devil will use to try to come between you and heaven's love. If we know these things aren't strong enough to block God's love for us, we won't worry so much. We won't pay them so much attention. The enemy tries to convince us that every little thing we do makes us unworthy of God's love. He tries to convince us that God could never love us; look at all we have done. This is why it is important to read God's Word. It is important to know what the Lord is actually saying to us so we can stand up to the enemy and know when He is lying, which, by the way, is always! The last line in this verse says, “What about persecutions, deprivations, dangers, and death threats? No, for they are all impotent to hinder omnipotent love.” This last part is interesting. You might think, why would these things hinder God's love? I am not doing them; they are being done to me. For instance, persecution is hostility and ill-treatment, especially based on ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or political beliefs. Why would someone being hostile to me get in the way of God's love? The reason we think this is because of the things they say to us. Their primary purpose is to make us feel like we are not good enough. They want us to think God could never love us. This verse confirms that even if we might feel far from God because of deprivations, dangers, and death threats, He is still right there with us, and He is loving us no matter what.I love the language the last line uses. It says that all these enemy tactics are impotent to hinder God's love. Impotent means unable to take effective action; helpless or powerless. I love to think about how powerless the enemy and His tactics are to separate us from God's love. The only thing is, we have to know this, we have to believe this, and we have to live this. If we don't know this, we will believe the enemy's lies and think we are unloved. We will feel like we are unloved. When we believe the lie, we empower the liar. The enemy convinces many people that the Lord couldn't love them. We have to get His word out. We have to share what we know: that the Lord's love is endless and unconditional. Nothing we can do or anyone else can do can take it away from us. He loved us before we were born and will always love us!!Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you to bless all those listening today and all of their families. Lord, help us hear this message today and let it take root down deep in our hearts. Let us know that we know that we know that you love us always, and nothing can change that. We love you right back, Lord, just not quite as perfectly as you love us. We ask all of this in accordance with our will and in Jesus' holy name. Amen!!Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. I look forward to meeting you here again on Monday. Remember, Jesus loves you just as you are, and so do I! LESSON 355There Is No End To All The Peace And Joy,And All The Miracles That I Will Give,When I Accept God's Word. Why Not Today? Why should I wait, my Father, for the joy You promised me? For You will keep Your Word You gave Your Son in exile. I am sure my treasure waits for me, and I need but reach out my hand to find it. Even now my fingers touch it. It is very close. I need not wait an instant more to be at peace forever. It is You I choose, and my Identity along with You. Your Son would be Himself, and know You as his Father and Creator, and his Love.- Jesus Christ in ACIM

Unexpected Encounters: Just a girl… submitting. December 8, 2024Pastor Kent Landhuis THEME - Submission to God's will brings peace.TEXT - Luke 1:381. Willing to accept an unexpected assignment.   * Skill vs. Will? * Luke 1:382. Willing to adjust to an unexpected vision. * Luke 1:26-37 * Isaiah 7:14 * Luke 4:16-22 * Isaiah 61:1-23. Willing to hope for an unexpected outcome. * Luke 1:46-55 * Isaiah 9:2-7 * Job 22:21 * Proverbs 3:5-6NEXT STEPS1. Where does our world need peace?2. Where do you personally need peace?3. Pray for peace.4. Wait for it!GO DEEPERPeace in Submission: God's Will vs. My WillSubmission means saying “yes” to God. Job said, “Submit to God and be at peace with him.” (Job 22:21) What does submission look like?1. Humble Yourself Before God.Submission starts with humility. James 4:10 says, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” Humility allows us to: * Let go of our need to control every detail. * Admit our dependence on God in all areas. * Accept correction and grow in godliness, letting God shape our character.2. Recognize God's Authority. We acknowledge God's right to rule and we obey because we trust that God knows best.  * Look to God's Word as our ultimate guide. * Trust God's decisions over our desires. * Accept God's commands as loving, even when they're challenging. 3. Align Our Lives with God's WillLiving in submission to God isn't just saying “God's in charge.” It is doing what God asks us to do. This includes: * Our thoughts - Are we filling our minds with His truth? * Our relationships - Are we loving others selflessly? * Our choices - Are we putting His priorities first? When we submit to God, peace follows. Peace comes from knowing we no longer need to try to hold the world together. Instead, we rest in the authority and goodness of the One who holds everything.

We make decisions CONSTANTLY as moms. From big ones like "Should we move?" or "Should we have another baby?" to very small ones like "Should spend time cleaning up before I work on the bills?" Not every decision weighs heavily, but the sheer number of decisions does weigh us down, especially when we don't have confidence on what we should do! In this episode, we remember that the only true question we need to ask ourselves is "What does God want?" and that is often an easier question to answer. Here are five ways we can do that: Be in relationship with Jesus (through daily prayer) Read Scripture consistently Take the time to ASK God and listen for His answer Carefully discern big decisions Accept God's permissive will (and forgive yourself when you get it wrong) For discerning big decisions, I highly recommend the book What Does God Want by Fr. Michael Scanlan! It is practical, short, and great for evaluating opportunities and choices. I love it so much that I did a series over it on this podcast back when it was called 500 Seconds to Joy! God doesn't call us because we have it all figured out or because we are perfect in our faith. And so, accepting our calling isn't dependent upon some criteria of perfection we must meet. Ultimately, accepting our call isn't an act of spiritual power; it's one of trust. - Kyle Norman SUBSCRIBE to our sister podcasts: The Crosswalk Devotional: https://www.lifeaudio.com/crosswalk-devotionalYour Daily Bible Verse: https://www.lifeaudio.com/your-daily-bible-verse  Discover more Christian podcasts at lifeaudio.com and inquire about advertising opportunities at lifeaudio.com/contact-us.

Have you ever found yourself striving for perfection, thinking that your efforts will make you worthy of God's love? In this episode of The Disciples Journal, we explore the powerful truth of justification—that we are saved by grace through faith, not by works. No amount of striving or perfection will earn us God's approval because it has already been given through Jesus. We'll break down what it means to be justified in Christ, understanding that our relationship with God is based on His love and grace, not our performance. You don't have to work for God's love, but rather live from it. Join me as we unpack how God declares us righteous through faith, freeing us from the impossible burden of perfection. He knows what He is doing! This weekend Pastor Joaquin continued our DAVID series with a message on embracing God's plan. 1 Samuel 16:13 "Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward.."1. Stop mourning what didn't work When God rejected Saul, Samuel grieved over what was. But when our hope and trust is solely in God, we avoid getting stuck in the past, and can embrace the new things God is doing. 2. God uses unexpected things and peopleOur plans are built on what we see and know, but God sees beyond our limitations. When it was time to anoint a new king, everyone focused on Jesse's seven sons, but God chose the one everyone overlooked. Unlike Samuel, God can see beyond what is in the physical and will use the unexpected things and people to achieve his plans and purposes.3. Accept God's strategy and timingGod didn't reveal the entire plan to Samuel all at once; instead, He provided just enough direction for the next step. Even after being anointed, David didn't become king until 15 years later. The time in between is formative. The time it takes and the limited information you have are what God has prescribed for the perfecting of your faith so that you might know the fullness of God.

Understanding God as a Loving Father: Embracing His Handfuls on Purpose | by Pastor Strickland This week's sermon by Pastor Derrel Strickland reminded us that God's generosity towards us is intentional. He spoke about the concept of 'handfuls of purpose,' drawing from the story of Ruth and Boaz, to illustrate how God leaves blessings in our paths with a purpose in mind. Pastor Strickland emphasized that these blessings are not by accident and encouraged us to recognize and pick them up. He also reminded us about God's redemption and how He sent Jesus to redeem us, not because He had to, but because He chose to. The core message is that God's provision and blessings are purposeful, and it's up to us to embrace them and live out our God-given purpose.
