For our final episode and our Halloween Spooktacular we watched a movie so nice they made it thrice. This week we watched Halloween(1978), Halloween(2007), and Halloween(2018). We take a stroll down memory lane and pick our favourite movies from past episodes, we give an update on Kreuger the Kittens shenanigans, and in typical THaTH fashion we shoehorn in a socialist rant. Thanks so much for listening to this horror movie podcast about love and as we say at the end of every episode: Its been a slice! Love you. Bye!

This week we treat ourselves to this a Halloween classic, the 2007 horror anthology about a small town that takes the holiday a little too seriously. We watched Trick 'R' Treat. We take a stroll down memory lane to discuss our least favourite movies from past episodes. We fawn over the most adorable holiday-murder mascot since the Easter bunny was resurrected as a zombie. And we ask the important Halloween questions: are you in it for the candy or the costumes?

Come little children, I'll take thee away…..that's right, this week we went a bit rogue and watched Hocus Pocus, and boy did it hold up. This movie is still great! Join us as we (poorly) attempt to turn off our cynical adult brains in order to enjoy a childhood classic. This episode comes with some solid book recommendations, a dash of nostalgia, and some dark musings about what exactly Binx the sentient cat gets up to in the 364 days of the year he isn't guarding a dilapidated shack. Come enjoy spooky season with us as we wind down to the end of our show later this month. Love you! Bye!

This week we watched the remake / sequel (requel?) Candyman(2021), a horror classic that Cassy and Gerad know nothing about. Will they ever learn what the bees are all about or why a baby got taken 30 years ago? Also turkey legs are the bomb, Cassy hosts a quick concussion clinic and Gerad just cannot handle Shadow and Bone.

This week we watch Netflix's zombie heist movie Army of the Dead. We make a big announcement, Gerad discusses his hypothesis on 'sound memes', and Cassy shares a story of the cats organizing to rebel against us. Also included: us dunking on Zack Snyder, our fondness for a sexually charged bromance, and our list of the sci-fi aliens Dave Bautista most resembles.

Turns out its not just Canadian Geese we have to fear. This week we watched Hitchcock's The Birds (1963) and it gave us a real craving for more vintage horror.  A great combo of practical and cutting edge (for the time) effects, stellar casting and a green suit that Cassy will be coveting for the rest of her life. Gerad really leads this one along as Cassy fights a migraine, and both hosts relish in the sex appeal incarnate that is Annie Hayworth.

This week we sink our teeth into the charming horror/comedy zombie romp (zombedy?) Little Monsters. Cassy is a little feverish. We answer the age old question: what's the worst kind of puppet? And we both rail against subpar men doing the bare minimum and being rewarded for it.

    Ep 51 - The Blackcoat's Daughter

This week we watched The Blackcoat's Daughter. A spooky, desolate all girl's Catholic school. A frigid Canadian winter. Nuns insisting the snow be “shoveled to the earth,” for some reason known only to them and God. Sounds like the perfect setting for a demonic possession movie that features time jumps, lots of stabby good times, and an eerie atmosphere ripe with adolescent angst. Kiernan Shipka unnerves us with her unhinged amusement. Emma Roberts proves that diner napkins are an excellent beauty tool, and we briefly reminisce about an awesome road trip and a sub-par landlord. Thanks for listening! Hope you enjoy both the movie and our dialogue.

We witness a wonderful coming-of-age story as an awkward girl transforms into a beautiful young wolf-woman before our very eyes. This week we watched the cringe-inducing Canadian horror classic, Ginger Snaps (2000). Our discussion of skating leads to a sexual vocabulary lesson, Gerad describes the Ginger Snaps trilogy based solely on trailer viewings, and we have a long chat about menstruation and the proper etiquette of tracking a siblings cycle (hint: don't do it).

Dun Dun. Dun Dun. Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Bahn na NAAAAHHHHHH. This week we watched Jaws, the movie largely attributed to the amateur shark massacre of the ‘70's and ‘80's. As well as the film that made several generations even more terrified of going into the water. Not that it has stopped us. Gerad proves, once again, that he is King of the Puns and pitches a Quint prequel that Cassy would totally watch. Cassy gives a history lesson on the intersections of piracy and queer representation, and consistently calls every character Brody. Both agree that although cute as all hell (hellllooo ‘70's facial hair), Hooper has hopelessly clumsy butter fingers. Applications for tall, lanky Halloween costumes for Gerad will be accepted from now until October 1, 2021. We hope you enjoy our modern take on a timeless classic!

Use your own judgement and feel free to skip from 4:00 to 10:35 if you aren't looking for that in your friendly neighbourhood horror-movie podcast. This week we watch Sweetheart(2019), a reimagining of Castaway where Wilson is replaced by clumsy metaphors and a fish-man. Topics for your consideration: discovery that Cassy is newly an alien pervert and Gerad is an analog pervert from way back, Blumhouse isn't Blumhouse without the house, and when life gives you corpses make monster bait.

Cassy recalls the handful of times she has been invited into cults, and Gerad reaches out to their deceased pets through the power of broadcast (it’s not as depressing as it sounds).       And we’re back from our spring hiatus! Today we are talking about The Craft: Legacy. Our expectations bar was on the floor for this movie! However it did more than surprise us -it enchanted us (insert pun groan). We loved it! This addition to The Craft universe was a clever omage that is absolutely “woke” as the kids say. And if representation is your thing, then this movie has you covered. The cast is diverse, funny, engaging and endearing. Almost as endearing as Gerad waxing poetic about the inherent strength of feminine energy common in magical work. For once, Cassy was rendered speechless. We hope you enjoy this modern contribution to an occult classic as much as we did. Things turn bloody as they embark on a road trip retracing the killer's footsteps.  It definitely falls short in some areas, but makes the audience question the driving forces behind why we create art. It also brings awareness to the victims of crimes, trying hard not to lionize the criminals. If you are craving gore, violence, and creepy desolate highways, this might be up your alley. Land ‘Ho!Hey there, you salty sea dogs. This week we watched The Lighthouse starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson.  Beautiful cinematography and editing carried this film, but to us the story left much to be desired. Based off of the amount of Rum and Turpentine/honey that they drink, this really should have been called the LitHouse. Okay, Okay, I’ll stop with the puns.Robert and Willem slowly descend into madness amid a lonely and barren landscape populated by seagulls, crabs, and the occasional mermaid. What is real? What is reality? Was this movie worth it? No. But did we have fun ripping it apart? Heck yes.Join us as we dive (I lied, I get one more) into the deep abyss that is the vague retelling of the Prometheus myth not so cleverly disguised as a tale of loneliness and despair. We are a bit all over the place on this episode, but the relaxed fit is a fun romp in the woods as we discuss Silence of the Lambs. Cassy roasts Gerad (with love) by comparing him to Beyonce’s acting career. We discuss how cell phones really would change the shape and tone of this movie, had they been widely available in 1991, and we switch pace from secret phrogging movies by beginning to rate face switching movies.
