This festive season we unwrap 2015 Anthology movie, A Christmas Horror Story, starring William Shatner as DJ Dangerous Dan.   Matt saw this film during the Frightfest Festival many moons ago and awarded it 4.5 stars on Letterboxd…Paul does not agree… leaving Liam to referee a Crimbo battle more exciting than Santa vs Krampus!   We discuss the history of Horror Anthologies and how a very specific structure can be key to making them work, whether Shatner's shock jock monologues reveal something about the filmmakers themselves, another surprise Star Trek connection and whether a local radio Weatherman would also be the Mall Santa, all over a large bottle of Port!   Stay subscribed and come back soon for Part 2 of our Christmas celebrations as we rundown our favourite film discoveries of the year!   As usual you can find SPOCKLIGHT on: TWITTER - @spocklightpod INSTAGRAM – @spocklightpod FACEBOOK – https://www.facebook.com/spocklightpod/ EMAIL - spocklightpod@gmail.com Please Follow, like, share and all that good stuff.   Credit for our wonderful theme music goes to the incredibly talented, Adam Johnston's, you can find more of his work at - https://adamjohnstonuk.bandcamp.com/ Our beautiful artwork was created by Stephen Trumble, see more at http://www.stephentrumble.com  Huge thanks to Russell Honeywell for post production support

It's that wonderful time of the year: sweater weather, hot chocolate, and watching killers incorporate Christmas knick-knacks to create festive kills! We had the pleasure of sitting down with Angele (Belles of Horror) to chat about these five films that made things merry and bloody! Whether you're a horror fanatic or just looking to spice up your holiday movie lineup, these films deliver chills and cheer in equal measure. 1. A Christmas Horror Story (2015) A chilling anthology that intertwines multiple Christmas-themed tales of terror, featuring everything from zombie elves to a Krampus showdown with Santa Claus. Why Watch: The seamless blend of humor and horror, topped with William Shatner as a radio DJ narrating the chaos, makes this a holiday must-watch. 2. A Wonderful Knife (2023) This darkly comedic slasher is an homage to the Frank Capra classic as it reimagines Christmas cheer with a sharp edge, where the season of giving turns into a season of survival Why Watch: It's like a Hallmark Christmas movie got lost in a slasher film—unexpected, gory, and oddly heartwarming. 3. Krampus (2015) When a dysfunctional family loses their holiday spirit, they summon the wrath of Krampus, the terrifying anti-Santa of folklore, and learn the true/terrifying meaning of Christmas. Why Watch: The mix of practical effects, dark humor, and a wonderful cast creates a modern holiday horror classic. 4. Violent Night (2022) Santa Claus himself takes up arms to save a family held hostage on Christmas Eve in this action-packed thrill ride. Why Watch: Ever wondered what would happen if Santa went full John Wick? This film answers that question with hilarious and bloody results. 5. Gremlins (1984) What starts out as a charming and furry Christmas gift quickly turns into chaos when mischievous creatures run amok in a small town. Why Watch: A nostalgic blend of horror and comedy, Gremlins is the ultimate Christmas creature feature that still holds up decades later. So, grab some eggnog, cozy up by the fire, and join us as we explore the darker, wilder side of Christmas movies. This episode will have you laughing, screaming, and appreciating the holiday spirit in ways you never expected. And yes, Canada is mentioned…a lot.

This story takes place five years ago and it still haunts me to this day. My family was having a rough holiday season. None of us were getting along and our house had an uneasy feeling. We were all on edge. Something wasn't right. It was Christmas night and my family were driving home from a fancy restaurant we go to every year. I, unlike my family, wasn't tired, so the forty-five-minute drive seemed perpetual. On top of that, my little sister was constantly moaning about how her friend didn't get her anything for Christmas. After about 20 minutes of driving my dad stopped at a gas station to get some cigarettes and my sister, brother and mother all got out to pee. I stayed in the car as I had already gone before we left. Once they all left I decided to play a few games on my phone. I looked at the car clock and saw that ten minutes had passed, so I immediately wondered what was taking them so long. As soon as I peered out the car window, I saw a man staring at our car. The man startled me as I didn't know how long he had been watching. What made it even more unnerving is that he had a blank stare from behind his matted beard, no expression at all. It was hard to make out any features as it was pretty dark, he was wearing a dark hoodie that didn't fit and he wasn't standing in an illuminated part of the station. He was about 5 foot 9 and looked to be middle aged. Once he saw me notice him, he started walking towards the car, instinct told me this was not good and I felt a sickness explode in my stomach. Luckily my dad came back with the rest of the family just as the man took a couple steps. My dad apologized and told me he had been in an argument with the cashier. I didn't care, I was just glad that my dad was with me. I took another glance at the man outside, and he was still staring, but this time he had an annoyed look on his face. We drove off and for the rest of the car ride, I couldn't stop thinking about that man. This wouldn't have been too bad if it had ended there, but it didn't. Later that night, I was watching YouTube while everyone else slept, and luckily for me, a storm was raging over us. I enjoy storms, it makes me cozy as I'm laying in bed. I put my phone down and just enjoyed the ambience. That didn't last for long as I heard something smash into the window behind me. I lurched forward and nearly fell out of the bed. I thought a bird had just smashed into the window. I parted the blinds and what I saw next still haunts me. I saw a man standing out by my parent's cars, looking up at my room. I took a closer look and I nearly had a heart attack. It was the same man that I saw at the gas station, only this time, when our eyes met, he grinned. Being the fourteen-year-old I was, I did the manly thing and screamed at the top of my lungs. My dad came running down the stairs and entered my room. “Why the fuck are you screaming?” He said. I told him about the man and I explained everything that had happened. My dad grabbed a baseball bat and told me to call the police. After 10 minutes, the police turned up outside our house and found the man in our shed. He was arrested and that was the last time I saw him. The next day my dad inspected the house and we found the handle of our back door had been damaged, not completely broken, but definitely damaged from the outside. Even creepier was that my dad also found where someone had been living in our toolshed. A pile of things from our house was also found in the shed including some of my mom's intimate clothing. Someone had made a bed out of an old tarp and some spare bedding from the linen closet in our house. In this make-shift bed were several stuffed animals from my sister's room. The shed smelled like piss and body odor and we found food wrappers and food containers from things we had in our pantry. To this day I hesitate to enter the remote areas of our house without thinking about who or what may be lurking there. I have since learned that this is called Phrogging. Phrogging is when someone secretly lives in another person's home without their knowledge. The name comes from the idea of leapfrog, with the intruder hopping from place to place like a frog—whether that be someone's basement or attic or crawlspace.Happy holidays everyone. December brings our annual Holiday Horror episode! John Hudson and Troy Guinn join me to discuss the anthology film A CHRISTMAS HORROR STORY (2015) – we like it. We keep the conversation almost completely spoiler free with only a few third act details being alluded to as we go along. We talk about the possibility that Shatner might have ad-libbed some of his dialog as DJ Dangerous Dan and marvel at his ability to bend a syllable. Each of us picks our favorite of the stories presented and Troy points to some paths he thought the narrative might take that were skipped past. The darkly humorous nature of elements of the film are discussed with attention to how the laughs add to the entertainment level. We also bring up a couple of other recently seen Christmas horror movies as examples of our annual desire to see more of this subgenre. Toshi the cat visits us to rub up against the microphone and disrupt our trains of thought, such as they are. And the show ends with a brief tale about Mr. Hudson having been recognized as a recently published Cinema Sewer interviewer. Cool stuff! We hope everyone has a Happy Holiday season and if you have any comments about the show thebloodypit@gmail.com is the place to send them. Stay safe and hug your loved ones. Thank you for listening.

It's a bright Hawaiian Christmas Day and we're here to F*CK SH*T UP. Welcome Weirdos to our last REGULAR episode of the season!  It's time to get a little festive! This week we have FOUR gruesome, creepy, mind-bending, strange stories for you to feast your ears (and eyes!) on. Lauren starts us off with a beautiful vacation into a PARANORMAL PARADISE!  She teaches us about the legend of Hawaii's MOST HAUNTED HOUSE- The Kaimuki House- and the (Japanese??) ghost (cat??) that lives inside it Ashley swings us around to a CONSPIRACY THEORY that Human Beings could not have been originally FROM planet Earth and the proof of that lies in our wittle babies.  Humans are the only mammals on the planet that need YEARS to be able to care/fend for themselves… but why is that? Is it because this isn't our planet? Lauren comes back at us with a TRUE CRIME TIME that has a Christmas twist!  On December 25 1929 in Germantown, North Carolina Charles Davis “Charlie” Lawson murdered his wife and six of his seven children.  What on Earth could have driven him to do such a horrific act? And finally, to lighten things up a bit, Ashley finishes off the episode with a new segment all about URBAN LEGENDS!  But not the ones we are familiar with here in the US— we're traveling to Ukraine to investigate the mystery of the BLACK VOLGA and then hitting up South Korea to see if there's anything behind their fear of electric fans. Andrew and Scotty take wagers on who would win in a title fight between Santa Claus vs. Krampus as they discuss the 2015 holiday horror anthology, "A Christmas Horror Story". They also talk about being sick at the same time. And stay tuned until the end of the episode to hear Scotty announce what's coming in the next Fun With Horror episode!"A Christmas Horror Story" was directed by Grant Harvey, Steven Hoban, and Brett Sullivan. It's made up of four different stories that take place in the fictional town of Bailey Downs. In one story, three young people go down into the basement of St. Joseph's Academy to investigate the deaths of two others that happened a year prior. In a second story, a family goes to cut down their Christmas tree on private land. Their son briefly goes missing, but reappears very much changed. In the next story, a different family encounters Krampus himself. And finally, in the fourth story, something starts to infect the elves at the North Pole, and Santa and Mrs. Claus have to fight for their lives. All of these stories intersect and are tied together by William Shatner as radio DJ Dangerous Dan, who is hosting his yearly Christmas double shift.Follow us on social media:Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/396586601815924Twitter - https://twitter.com/funwhorrorInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/fun_with_horror_podcast/FWH + Fangoria collab:For 20% off at the Fango Shop, just enter FUN_WITH_HORROR_PODCAST at checkout!

In today's program, it's our 2022 Christmas Special. We've been putting this show together annually since 2018 and I want to thank personally J. Blake Fischa for making sure we did produce this show this year. I've been so ridiculously busy during the latter stages of this year that I didn't think I'd have time to put this together. I really thought that All Request Christmas was going to be our Christmas Special this year but Blake DM'd me on Twitter and ask if we were going to do the show.  I said, "No".  I got a reply back with just the letter "K". I know it's tough to reading tone online but I could just feel the disappointment. So, I slept on it, woke up the next day and wrote Blake back saying, "You know what... I got to thinking last night and I think we should still do the Holiday Celebration episode anyway. It's something that all of us at CSR can work on together. So, yes, we are going to do our annual Christmas show as well as the All Request Show." So there, you can thank Blake for this show and we will always put together an annual Christmas show for you from now on. I promise! Before we begin I just want to again personally offer my thanks to the great team here at Cinematic Sound Radio.   55 new shows went out this year including this one and not including any new shows that go up from now until the end of the year. We are almost 25,000 downloads away from 500,000 total downloads since we made this show a podcast... or at least as long as I've been tracking the show on Podtrac and Chartable. We are up 101,000 downloads since this time last year, which is incredible. We've been ranking in the top 200 all over the world. People really like the show and so I have to send out a big thanks to Jason Drury, Eric Silver, J. Blake Fichera, Robert Daniels, Randy Andrews, the voice of CSR Tim Burden, in-house composer David Coscina, and Ley Bricknell. And of course, I cannot forget you... the listener. Thank you very much for spending some time with us today! And a big shout out to the Cinematic Sound Radio Patreon family. It's been a great year conversing with you, getting to talk to some of you personally on the show and as well as sharing some of your favourite music on the podcast via the All Request Show, which is one of my favourite things ever in the 26-year history of the show. I can't wait to do more in 2023. As we did over the course of the past FIVE years, this show is a collaborative effort. Each participating host will get a segment of their own on the program to play whatever festival score they see fit. On today's program, seven CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO PODCAST hosts join me again to celebrate the holiday season by playing Christmas-themed music from a wide variety of film, TV and video game scores. Join Robert Daniels from OBSCURE SCORES, Jason Drury from THE ARCHIVE & TALKING SOUNDTRACKS, Ley Bricknell from FILMIC, J. Blake Fichera from SCORED TO DEATH RADIO, Randy Andrews from THE ANIME SPECTACULAR & THE ESSENTIAL SOUNDTRACKS, Eric Silver from THE 1UPBEAT, the voice of CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO, Tim Burden and me, Erik Woods, for our annual Yuletide spectacular. On the show today, you are going to hear a wide variety of Christmas / Holiday / Winter themed music including DIDDY KONG RACING, FATE/GRAND ORDER. A Christmas Horror Story comprises interrelated stories on Christmas Eve brought to life by William Shatner's radio voice. A family will regret trespassing to bring home a Christmas tree, students film a documentary in a haunted school, Krampus comes for a wicked family, and Santa fights against zombie elves in this crazy ride.
