We were not the only ones who loved Late Night With the Devil. It has set box office records for all independent film and has been critically praised. We talk about what its immediate future holds. Plus, David Lynch made his big announcement and we called it. (Spoiler alert: it's not the second GTA VI trailer.)You can pinpoint the exact moment What Keeps You Alive peaks. Everything up to the moment is tension filled and exciting. The film is beautifully shot and presents an interesting set of characters. It is familiar, but still does its own thing. Regrettably, it falls right off a cliff soon after.Things go on for too long, the writing gives away way too much, and the ending is unsatisfying. It is a classic case of going out with a whimper instead of a bang. And it ruins all the good will that had been built up over the course of the previous hour plus. Tack on the strange addition of 1990s Australian rock band Silverchair, and you have a head scratching finale. We were really looking forward to The Curse II: The Bite. It is B-horror, stars scream queen Jill Schoelen, and is part of a franchise. The fact that it was filmed and takes place in Las Cruces only added to our anticipation. Little did we know the movie would also have Jaime Farr of MAS*H fame in one of the most ridiculously awesome subplots ever, some unironically awesome special effects, and a look at late 80s trucker culture. For the second week of Super Sapphicween we watched What Keeps You Alive, written and directed by Colin Minihan and starring Hannah Emily Anderson and Brittany Allen. Haley wonders if one night in the woods would make you thirsty enough to risk drinking puddle water, and Claire suffers the consequences of another movie with very generic American names that start with the same letter. Also, Haley's cat, Bitsy, makes some interesting but divisive points.

As Pride Month draws to an end, we're back with two more queer horror films about secrets and what it means to hide parts of yourself from others. In the recently released teen slasher THERE'S SOMEONE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE, characters pay the ultimate price for not being open about who they really are. And in the lesbian survival thriller WHAT KEEPS YOU ALIVE (2018), things take a very nasty turn when secrets finally get revealed. But what's a little bloodshed in pursuit of authenticity?

Hello all you Ed-Heads, and whatever whatevers and those things that you listen to. This is it, the finale of What Keeps You Alive. I hope you watched the movie. I really do. Brody and I both really do. We talk eggs, personal lives, love, loss, and really what does it all add up to? You could be a hedonist like me. Try and maximize your enjoyment in life without effecting others to the best of your ability. It feels good, and as long as you don't hurt someone who does not want to be hurt, where's the harm? Or you could be an evolved person who donates their time, blood, and organs to save lives like some do gooders we know... If you have time, Follow Brody Black on Instagram Donate your bodies to science you fools. At a minimum be an organ donor. It's easy. You check a box. It costs nothing. Make yourself your favorite meal. If you don't know how to, learn to make it. It will do wonders for your life. If all of that is too hard. Then jack off, and don't feel guilty. I got to use my classic intro music. Cause it's just me hosting. Suck it.

What Keeps You Alive is a 2018 Canadian psychological horror film written and directed by Colin Minihan. Too Scary is a podcast about movies that are too scary. It is hosted by Shannon Brown and Mark Carter. Happy Pride y'all.
How many films can say they feature a row boat chase scene? In a new episode of Spooky Tuesday, we're talking about What Keeps You Alive (2018), a film that both delivers on the gay shit front and only gets crazier from there. With two wives heading into the woods (somewhere Sydney would tell you that you should NEVER go), things are bound to go bad — but this movie truly gives a new meaning to gatekeep, gaslight, girl boss.
Join us as we deep dive into the swamp with 1998's Wild Things, directed by John McNaughton and featuring an incredibly stacked cast that includes Matt Dillon, Neve Campbell, Kevin Bacon, Denise Richards, Bill Murray, and Kevin Bacon's penis. Director Colin Minihan explores the dark side of a married couple vacating in the woods in 2018's What Keeps You Alive. While the movie has its issues, the sheer power of the ending and Hannah Anderson as a black widow killer make it worth a watch.
"Lo que te mantiene viva" ("What Keeps You Alive"), dirigida por Colin Minihan, es una cinta de género de terror survival que juega con las claves del género para ofrecer un soplo de aire fresco tanto a las situaciones habituales de estas narraciones como a ideas de representación de los personajes, en este caso una atípica pareja lesbiana. En esta ocasión participan en el debate Elisa McCausland, Diego Salgado, Ignacio Pablo Rico y Yago Paris. CW: domestic violence, gaslighting, discussion of gore, medical violence. In part 2 of our Spooky Halloween 3-part Series, we talk about the 2018 horror film What Keeps You Alive by Colin Minihan. We have a lot to say on our opinions about the failures of this film and some to say about the good parts. But honestly, we have more to say about Jordan Peele and Antichrist than anything else... Oops.

A very special episode of Not Your Final Girl, in which we must admit that sometimes cyber bullying does actually pay off. Cabins: Are they worth all the murder and mayhem? Candace, Gaby, and Ariel discuss the finer points of rich aunts, fraught female relationships, beautiful psychopathic wives, and the dangers of clout chasing in our movies, What Keeps You Alive (2018) and Always Shine (2016). Thank you to our new friend Jalapeño Jared for talking shit on Ariel’s music page and inspiring us to get into this particular sub-subgenre (?) of cabin horror - where the real danger lies within the people closest to you. Pull up a seat and join us to get into some twisty-turny mind-bendy madness, including sabotage, betrayal, rowboat fights, luminol baths, Chekov’s syringes, and boring bearded dudes. We promise it’ll be a fun and instructive time, especially if you happen to be planning on any cabin trips this fall (though, we’re only covering a fraction of cabin horrors here, so still be careful - there could still be forest demons and stuff). It’s Jalapeño Jared approved. Do yourself and watch a movie, and listen on, losers. And so forth. A proud part of the Morbidly Beautiful Podcast Network. We're heading to a cabin in the beautiful woods of Muskoka, Ontario to celebrate the anniversary of the two lovely ladies at the center of Colin Minihan's 2018 thriller What Keeps You Alive! After discussing the implications of the film changing the protagonists of the original script (a heterosexual couple) to a lesbian couple, we'll then delve into the film's only real acknowledgement of the struggles of being gay (in a sequence that is quite personal to Joe). Yet we can't deny that the film has quite a few insightful things to say about relationships, especially its emphasis on the importance of communication (ya know, so you're not blindsided by the fact that your spouse is actually a psychopath). That it's anchored by two stellar lead performances doesn't hurt, either.Plus, we'll (rightly) laud the film's memorable rowboat set piece (yes, really), gush over the blacklight-lit montage that cleverly uses Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata", and feel equally frustrated with the film's protracted third act.Questions? Hello and thank you for downloading another episode of The Flixters Podcast! If you're looking for unhinged, unbalanced and downright right crazy, then this is the episode for you people. First up we're discussing Piercing (2018). A psycho-horror film starring Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) who plays a prostitute who turns the table on would-be killer Reed (Christoher Abbot). The movie is weird, there's death and there's a whole lot of crazy. We told you this was going to be a mad one! Then we have What Keeps You Alive (2018). An indie psycho-horror starring Hannah Anderson and Brittany Allen as a married couple spending their one-year anniversary alone, in a cabin, in the woods. I don't think they meant this when they said ‘till death do us part'! It's eerie, it's bloody, and at times queasy but is it any good? Check out the show for more info. On Anniversary Corner we look back at: All Good Things, Hard Candy, American Psycho, Never Talk to Strangers and Misery. On Hidden Gems we bring you Goodnight Mommy (2014), an Austrian psychological horror from directors Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala (The Lodge). After undergoing facial surgery a mother returns home to her twin sons only to be accused of not being their real mother. After confronting the woman the twins tie the woman down and interrogate her. Is she really their mother? Is she telling the truth? Download the show to find out more! If that wasn't enough for you we've even thrown in new trailers to watch and what you can catch on streaming. And don't forget to listen till the end of the show for a special Flixters prize for one lucky subscriber :) Thank you for supporting us and we hope you enjoy the show!

Joey Klein and Face2Face host David Peck talk about his new film Castle In The Ground, the opioid crisis, addiction and empathy, vulnerability and bearing witness and about why we need to share the planet.TrailerWatch the film here in iTunes.Synopsis:Henry (Alex Wolff) is a devout caretaker of his chronically ill single mother (Neve Campbell). His girlfriend, and lone support system, is about to leave for college. His relatives and their obligatory condolences frustrate more than comfort. His only focus in life is to nurse his mother back to health; it is his only point of meaning; his obsession. When his mother suddenly dies and with him feeling largely complicit, he is left grief stricken and without purpose. Overcome now with new grief and guilt, he falls into a world of addiction, abusing his mother’s left over stash of Oxycontin 80s. The only person in his life that isn’t placating to his loss is his subversive new neighbour ANA (Imogen Poots), who’s across the hall and trying to kick her own habit just as Henry is developing his. As they form an unlikely friendship based in equal parts on drug dependency and commiseration, they become ensnared in a deadly situation involving a missing bag of drugs.About Joey:Joey Klein is a method-trained actor/filmmaker originally from Montreal. His first film The Other Half played the festival circuit in 2016 (SXSW/Los Cabos In Competition) before being theatrically released in Canada and the US. IT'S PRIDE MONTH!!!!! HAPPY PRIDE!!! During this pride month we wanted to talk about a movie that really represents the LGBTQ Community in a great way! We follow a lesbian couple celebrating their first year of marriage and one of them seem to have many secrets following her. The movie is extremely brutal and focuses more on the psychological aspect rather than the fact they are a lesbian couple. If you have not seen this movie we highly recommend it! ALSO remember to ONLY kill WHAT KEEPS YOU ALIVE! Sponsor-Calm Your Body Down LLC 'Salem's Secret' by Peter Gundry
Getting back in the analytical grind of things, May and Clinton discuss three international genre films with the theme of hunter vs hunted. The very essence of this theme is the foundation of slasher films, but what sets these three films apart is how the prey subverts the expectation of the predator. We look at three films made across the globe - Canada, France, and Brazi. In this episode, May and Clinton discuss What Keeps You Alive, Girls with Balls, and Bacurau. The episode is currently streaming on Anchor, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Breaker, PocketCasts, and RadioPublic. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

For better or worse is taken to the extreme this week, as we watch What Keeps You Alive(2018). Cassy assures Gerad (with troubling certainty) that he WON'T die in the woods, Gerad does some script punch up, and we speculate that if you become a murderer shortly after seeing a traumatic death it is likely they are related. Come on Jackie, practice some mindfulness!

"Juliet, Naked", "What Keeps You Alive", "The Little Stranger": A New Release Episode. Join Jess and Andrew for another trip to the Cineplex. This week, Jess was stuck in the books, so Andrew ended up seeing a couple of these alone. This doesn't mean Jess isn't a part of the conversation, though. Like with Solo, Andrew explains "Juliet, Naked" to Jess, as she has an opinion on the type of film "Juliet" turned into, and the trend in film that is similar to it. Andrew also saw the new IFC Midnight movie solo at the Arena Cinelounge. This was the best of the three films, and it's a real shame Jess didn't get a chance to see it. Can't wait for it to come to VOD so she can experience it too. Jess's film of the weekend was "The Little Stranger". Judging by the attendance in our screening, we were some of the very few who saw this film. The audience may have been smarter than us for avoiding it. To celebrate a birthday, Luke decided that 40's of Colt 45 were in order. Needless to say, this episode will be entertaining if nothing else. Let's get right into this mess. THE RANGER is bringing the punk vibes with a very stylish trailer, WHAT KEEPS YOU ALIVE is absolutely gorgeous, and potentially bloody, while BLOOD FEST shows that the guys from Rooster Teeth know a thing or two about the genre. Genre regulars of yore, Malcolm McDowell and Corey Feldman are back in the strangely mesmerizing CORBIN NASH, and the homies over at ARTSPLOITATION grab two vastly different films in LUCIFERINA and TRAUMA. We haven't seen them yet, but we're sure this bodes well. Amidst all the drinking, we still remember to do a review. This week it is APARTMENT 212 (formerly GNAW). This is probably one of our most in depth review conversations that we've ever had. Is it the booze? Probably. Wrapping up the episode is an old favorite, TWO GUY ONE CUP. We throw on some fight music and go to war. Well… not really, but we were hype! All of that and a whole lot of silliness on episode 141 of The Modern Horrors Podcast. THIS is the one to share with your friends!
