Join us as we talk with Jonathan R. Latham, executive director of the Bioscience Resource Project and the editor of Independent Science News. He delves into a topic that, while some wish to leave it behind, demands ongoing scrutiny and critical analysis due to its profound implications. An expert virologist by training, Latham explores the debate surrounding the origins of the COVID-19 virus. This discussion questions not only the transparency and integrity of media and government but also the accountability of leaders. Latham examines various theories about how the virus may have emerged, including the well-known lab leak and 'meat market' theories and a far lesser-known yet incredibly compelling one involving miners from Southern China in 2012. Tune in to uncover: The most compelling scientific evidence contrasting the lab leak theory with the natural zoonotic transmission theory and the miner theory. Insights into viral evolution: can a virus mutate more rapidly in one individual or millions? The adaptation of respiratory viruses to different human tissues, such as the nose and throat versus the lungs, and the evolutionary advantages of these adaptations. A critical look at media coverage: what's being reported, what's omitted, and why it matters. Take advantage of this eye-opening and important conversation about truth in science. Whether you notice or not, the world is still picking up the pieces from the COVID-19 pandemic. Although it began more than four years ago, many questions remain unanswered. Where did it come from? Is there evidence of genetic manipulation within the virus's molecules?  Dr. Jonathan R. Latham, a distinguished virologist and biopolitical theorist, joins us to shed light on this complex topic… Dr. Latham is the Executive Director of the Bioscience Resource Project and the Editor of Independent Science News. He has also published scientific papers in virology, ecology, genetics, and molecular biology. He is currently working on a book provisionally titled The Myth of The Master Molecule: DNA and the Social Order. Dive in now to explore: Dr. Latham's first encounter with COVID-19. What scientists have established about the origins of COVID-19. The major red flags of a lab outbreak. How the media is treating the evidence associated with the lab leak theory. Why are governments and media outlets turning a blind eye to this issue? What could this mean for the future of public health outbreaks? Tune in now to unearth these answers... On March 8th the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic convened their investigation into the origins of COVID-19. Dr Jonathan Latham, “a card-carrying virologist” joins me to perform a warm autopsy on this first Subcommittee hearing on “Investigating the origin of COVID-19.” Dr Latham is the Editor of Independent Science news and the co-founder and executive director of the Bioscience Resource Project. While much of the proceeding was political theater, former CDC Director Robert Redfield continues to unravel the false narrative promoted by Drs Fauci, Farrar, Collins, and a cabal of scientists funded by them. While every scientist testifying at the hearing agreed that it was no conspiracy theory that COVID-19 might have come from a lab, it has becoming increasingly evident there was a conspiracy to mislead and deceive the public that the “science showed” that COVID-19 was the result of a natural spillover and that this was the consensus of scientists. We discuss the preponderance of evidence that points to a cover-up and a carefully constructed disinformation campaign to distract, deceive, and mislead the public's attention away from extremely risky gain-of-function research that may have led to the pandemic of the century.

Welcome to Gorilla Radio, recorded April 24th and 30th, 2022 God knows there's plenty to be afraid of on this planet of mad apes, not least of which are the agents of doom who would use the power of government agencies to create fear and panic in the public mind to further their political agendas, or merely line their own pockets. An abject case in point is the 2020 plot to kidnap and murder Michigan governor, Gretchen Whitmer by a hapless gang of local stooges on the eve of the presidential election. But all was not as advertised by the prosecution, or their star witnesses in the FBI. Last month, jurors threw out the case against two of those accused, and the jury hung on charges against two other "conspirators" when the extent of the FBI's role in fomenting and realizing an attack against the governor was revealed. Jeremy Kuzmarov is a journalist and author who serves too as Managing Editor of CovertAction Magazine. He's the author of four books on U.S. foreign policy, including: ‘Obama's Unending Wars', and ‘The Russians Are Coming, Again' co-authored with John Marciano. His latest piece at CovertAction is, 'Michigan Bomb Plot: FBI Scheme to Create False ‘Domestic Terror' Cabal Exposed in Court'. Jeremy Kuzmarov in the first half. And; incredibly, two and half years since the believed emergence of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic uncertainty still surrounds the deadly pathogen's proximal origins. Instead, what exists now is a stand-off between two schools, each defending opposing theories that seem more politically doctrinaire than scientifically determined. But, nearing the third Summer of the pandemic, a third way, a novel phylogenetic method of analysis has emerged that promises to finally determine just where Covid-19 came from, and more importantly, how it came to dominate the course of human events. Dr. Jonathan Latham holds a Masters degree in Crop Genetics, a PhD in Virology and is, along with Dr. Allison Wilson, co-author of a series of articles seeking to discover the origins of Covid-19. Latham is too co-founder and Executive Director of the Bioscience Resource Project, and Editor of Independent Science News, where his and colleague Allison Wilson's latest article, 'Delete, Deny, and Destroy: Chinese and Western Strategies to Erase Covid's Origin are Being Exposed by Independent Research' appears. Jonathan Latham and the last gambit of the Great Virological Game in the second half. But first, Jeremy Kuzmarov and the FBI's use of entrapment as part of a strategy designed to sow public fear and render support for draconian anti-terrorist legislation. Dr. Latham talks about how he came to believe that it was likely that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID19, escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV). We also hear that a network of independent researchers called D.R.A.S.T.I.C. came together to work towards to discover the true source of the virus, and in doing so, confirmed that the closest relative of SARS-CoV-2 is actually a virus that Dr. Shi Zhengli of the WIV partially sequenced back in 2016, and further, that the virus is connected to a mystery pneumonia suffered by six men from Yunnan, China, back in 2012. Virologist Jonathan Latham explains his view of living organisms in opposition to genetic or biological determinism. He shares a wide range of thoughts, including A theory of how COVID-19 began in a group of miners in Wuhan in 2012; How our societal structure self-corrects to understanding science through genetic or biological determinism, prioritizing genetics facts; and A different way to conceive of living organisms as constantly changing with nonhierarchical layers of cooperation rather than an over-emphasis on the importance of genetics.  Jonathan Latham, PhD, is the executive director and cofounder of the Bioscience Resource Project. He's the editor of Independent Science News and director of the Poison Papers project, which publishes documents on the chemical industry. In this podcast, he begins by engaging with ideas presented in a previous podcast when Richard spoke with famed biologist Denis Noble. Noble said that there's no privileged level of causation in biology and Latham continues to address this issue, offering his own commentary over the course of the show. He explains that he became interested in the kind of prominence that scientists give to genes and DNA and eventually came to the realization that there are a lot of flaws in how we think about organisms that stem from adherence to genetics facts and emphasizing the importance of genetics. He asserts that the only agency that exists in an organism is the one that derives from the organism itself and explains what this means in more concrete terms. He also touches on current projects such as a paper he and Allison Wilson wrote about their theory on the origin of SARS-CoV-2, which he believes was through a group of miners who experienced a mysterious disease in 2012. After explaining in more detail, he returns to the ideas of genetic determinism and talks about a book he's authoring on the topic. It’s a brilliant science nerd alert this week for you on the show as I bring you Jonathan R Latham, PhD who is co-founder and Executive Director of the Bioscience Resource Project and the Editor of Independent Science News. Dr Latham is also the Director of the Poison Papers project which publicizes documents of the chemical industry and its regulators. Dr. Latham holds a Masters degree in Crop Genetics and a PhD in Virology. He was subsequently a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Genetics, University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has published scientific papers in disciplines as diverse as plant ecology, plant virology, genetics and genetic engineering. Dr Latham talks frequently at international events and scientific and regulatory conferences on the research conducted by the Project. He has written for Truthout, MIT Technology Review, the Guardian, Resilience, Salon.com, and many other magazines and websites.  It’s so important that if we’re going to be ‘pro’ a certain type of food that we need to truly understand what we’re ‘against’ so that when challenged we don’t just heatedly say “it’s toxic”. It’s not enough and we need to meet curiosity with science so that people understand the informed position we’re taking. Here’s the frame work for the chat Jonathan and I had:    QUESTIONS  Re the food movement: the 'feed the world' debate / your views / solutions that don't involve gmos in their current usage / soil depletion / ecological disruption etc... And what you're most excited about right now with the grass roots ground swell happening all around.   The poison papers - how they came about / what the objective is / As a contributor - what does your role entail? / The records date back to the 1920s, so in looking back do we see - as with so many things supposedly 'safe' then found harmful - timelines of examples (ddt / other chemicals)... Glyphosate / RoundUp got bumped back up to the top of conversation with the recent court ruling ordering Monsanto to pay $289USD to the groundskeeper of a school, finding that his cancer was caused by RoundUp usage: What can the poison papers reveal about RoundUp / Glyphosate? We can nut this section of the chat out more precisely before we hit record...   Understanding genetics - What do we need to understand about the current GMO paradigm that isn't  working for our health / planet's health? How does what's going on now negatively impact our health (BT toxin / Glyphosate ) and the planet's (monocropping / high herbicide / pesticide use etc) Is there any circumstance / example / technology that you've seen either in the works or currently used, which GMOs might work in our food system? And then more on what you want us to understand... dangers / evidence that's come to light etc.  And of course, the usual tangents and twists you’ve come to expect on the show.   Hope you love the show and as usual you can access the show notes over at lowtoxlife.com/podcast Alexx x

There is documented evidence into the unpredictability of genetic engineering. Yet there is mounting pressure for new gene technologies to be used with no regulatory supervision. Gene editing is the genetic alteration of the natural world. They are a stage after genetic engineering. Whatever the size of a change made inside a cell, and some scientists like to say they are very small changes, how can messing with DNA be a safe thing to do, when we increasingly realise the connection between living things. Organisms are self organising complex systems and so how can it be possibly safe to manipulate and mess with our food and animals? Prominent International AdvocateDr Jonathan Latham is a prominent international advocate for public interest science. He is co-founder and Executive Director of the Bioscience Resource Project and the Editor of Independent Science News and Director of the Poison Papers. He is recently been in New Zealand on a speaking tour. Dr Latham holds a Masters degree in Crop Genetics and a PhD in Plant Virology.  He worked at the Department of Genetics in the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. He has published scientific papers in disciplines as diverse as plant ecology, plant virology, toxicology, genetics, and genetic engineering. In this interview find out the difference between Genetic engineering and gene editing. What is CRISPR – (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) – and are there other types of gene editing? What is the politics of food? How likely are the large corporations to say that gene editing doesn’t need to be included in food labelling? Scientists can now harness gene drive mechanisms to control or alter natural populations. Is this safe? The US’s secretive Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (Darpa) has become the world’s largest funder of “gene drive” research. Why? Modified mosquitoes with gene drives on board are already being bred and tested in labs and some may have been released. The Impact of Gene DrivesGiven the profound impact that gene drives could have on species and ecosystems, their use is a highly contentious issue. There are concerns about the ecological safety of the eradication, replacement or enhancement of particular species of animals by means of genetic engineering. Communities and groups have differing beliefs about nature and its conservation or preservation. For those reasons, the rigorous testing and regulation of insects and other animals with gene drive systems is crucial. https://www.independentsciencenews.org/ Bioscience Resource Project https://www.poisonpapers.org/   US military agency invests $100m in genetic extinction technologies: https://www.theguardian.com/science/2017/dec/04/us-military-agency-invests-100m-in-genetic-extinction-technologies   ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A brief synopsis of the show In this interview find out the difference between Genetic engineering and gene editing.
